Unplugged (smartphone) moved to draftspace
[edit]An article you recently created, Unplugged (smartphone), is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:
" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. [edit]Hello, I'm Butlerblog. I noticed that you added or changed content in an article, Language of Jesus, but you didn't provide a reliable source. It's been removed and archived in the page history for now, but if you'd like to include a citation and re-add it, please do so. You can have a look at referencing for beginners. If you think I made a mistake, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. ButlerBlog (talk) 12:28, 16 July 2024 (UTC)
- Noting specifically what you added, I don't disagree with the premise of what you added, but it is entirely unsourced and as such, it is original research. Don't add statements of that magnitude without a cited source. ButlerBlog (talk) 12:30, 16 July 2024 (UTC)

- It doesn't matter. It needs to be cited. Read WP:WHYCITE. It likewise doesn't matter what is in other articles. Wikipedia cannot be used to source itself (WP:NOTSOURCE). If you don't understand, ask. This is a primary content guideline so understanding how/when to cite material is important. ButlerBlog (talk) 21:25, 16 July 2024 (UTC)

Edit request
[edit]Hi. I noticed you answered an edit request to remove the old name of the subject of the article. Per MOS:NB, if the subject is known by their old name professionally prior to the name change, as is the case in this article, the name should be listed in the article as a former name. You changing it without any discussion goes against the letter of the guideline and such change should be made through consensus on the talk page first. I reverted the edit and would just caution making any such change again without discussing in and achieving consensus for the change first. cyberdog958Talk 03:03, 26 September 2024 (UTC)
- Ms. Steele wasn't notable at all until this documentary came out. In fact, we didn't have an article on her until the documentary premiered. Arbeiten8 (talk) 03:06, 26 September 2024 (UTC)
- In this case, multiple of the references used in the article refer to the subject by their former name, so the former name should be listed or else it wouldn't even make any sense to the uninformed reader. If anything of their career is mentioned to prior the name change, and if any reference refer to the subject with their former name, it should be kept in the article once per the guideline. cyberdog958Talk 03:17, 26 September 2024 (UTC)

- It is inappropriate to resort to personal attacks. Reach consensus on the talk page before making the change on a contentious topic and there should be no problem. cyberdog958Talk 03:27, 26 September 2024 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of Ahoo Daryaei
[edit]A tag has been placed on Ahoo Daryaei requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done for the following reason:
Looks like a case of BLP1E lets wait to create article.
Under the criteria for speedy deletion, pages that meet certain criteria may be deleted at any time.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. Introduction to contentious topics
[edit]You have recently edited a page related to gender-related disputes or controversies or people associated with them, a topic designated as contentious. This is a brief introduction to contentious topics and does not imply that there are any issues with your editing.
A special set of rules applies to certain topic areas, which are referred to as contentious topics. These are specially designated topics that tend to attract more persistent disruptive editing than the rest of the project and have been designated as contentious topics by the Arbitration Committee. When editing a contentious topic, Wikipedia’s norms and policies are more strictly enforced, and Wikipedia administrators have an expanded level of powers and discretion in order to reduce disruption to the project.
Within contentious topics, editors should edit carefully and constructively, refrain from disrupting the encyclopedia, and:
- adhere to the purposes of Wikipedia;
- comply with all applicable policies and guidelines;
- follow editorial and behavioural best practices;
- comply with any page restrictions in force within the area of conflict; and
- refrain from gaming the system.
Editors are advised to err on the side of caution if unsure whether making a particular edit is consistent with these expectations. If you have any questions about contentious topics procedures, you may ask them at the arbitration clerks' noticeboard or you may learn more about this contentious topic here. You may also choose to note which contentious topics you know about by using the {{Ctopics/aware}} template.

[edit]Hello! Voting in the 2024 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23:59 (UTC) on Monday, 2 December 2024. All eligible users are allowed to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.
The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.
If you wish to participate in the 2024 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. If you no longer wish to receive these messages, you may add {{NoACEMM}}

Advice
[edit]Hi - speaking as a nonbinary trans person I appreciate your passion for respectful trans representation, but speaking as a long-time Wikipedian your edits are leaning into WP:ADVOCACY territory. Please familiarize yourself more with Wikipedia policies to avoid conflicts here. Thanks. Funcrunch (talk) 16:42, 7 December 2024 (UTC)
- It is nice to know that you are a trans editor. On the one hand, I value you, while on the other hand, I feel that hand-wringing and you blazing past non-queer voices to please the crowd isn't my style. Everything has its pros and cons. I don't ask you to be like-minded. However, it isn't necessary for you to echo and entrench WP rules even more that aren't ideal for minorities and may need reform. Your style is akin to Kamala Harris not really understanding and dodging the Kamala is for they/them ads on which Trump side spent over $200 million. At a minimum, Kamala could have said that the ad was transphobic and Democrats don't believe in punching down vulnerable minorities and scapegoating anyone. Her over-cautious and dance to the tune of her opponents served her poorly. Arbeiten8 (talk) 17:05, 7 December 2024 (UTC)
- Not sure why you're bringing up the recent election. I am not affiliated with any political party, and have not voted for a major party presidential candidate since 1992. I didn't vote for a presidential candidate at all in 2020 or 2024. Regardless, I have no interest in crowd-pleasing; my interest is in maintaining the value of this encyclopedia. Funcrunch (talk) 17:34, 7 December 2024 (UTC)
- I am a Democrat. I realize that my frustration is no reason for me to disengage. The person in the White House has broad powers and gives directions to lower-level officials. I don't dictate what you should do politically. That is your freedom; however, the passage of the Equality Act or representation like Rachel Levine as an Agency Executive has an impact on the queer community. I skimmed through your article published which I construe as learned helplessness in the political realm.
- As far as your editing goes, it isn't neutral from my standpoint. If I were you and purporting to support trans equality, I wouldn't have removed the name of the golfer as you did. By excluding facts such as an important name, the audience gets the wrong impression that trans women are routinely winning gold, silver, and bronze medals across professional sports. You don't have to be LGBT to be able to have facts on the table as Jen Psaki does so adeptly. Arbeiten8 (talk) 18:01, 7 December 2024 (UTC)
- I reverted your edit because it read like your opinion of the situation rather than an accurate summation of the cited source. Regardless, as you can see from my userpage, I routinely create and edit the biographies of trans and other marginalized people and associated topics. I feel that my record stands for itself, but of course you're free to disagree. Funcrunch (talk) 18:54, 7 December 2024 (UTC)

Notice that you are now subject to an arbitration enforcement topic ban
[edit]The following topic ban now applies to you:
You are topic-banned for three months from editing anything related to transgender people, broadly construed.
You have been sanctioned for tendentious editing.
This topic ban is imposed in my capacity as an uninvolved administrator under the authority of the Arbitration Committee's decision at Wikipedia:Arbitration/Requests/Case/Gender and sexuality#Final decision and, if applicable, the contentious topics procedure. This sanction has been recorded in the log of sanctions. Please read WP:TBAN to understand what a topic ban is. If you do not comply with this topic ban, you may be blocked for an extended period, by way of enforcement of this sanction—and you may also be made subject to further sanctions.
You may appeal this sanction using the process described here. I recommend that you use the arbitration enforcement appeals template if you wish to submit an appeal to the arbitration enforcement noticeboard. You may also appeal directly to me (on my talk page), before or instead of appealing to the noticeboard. Even if you appeal this sanction, you remain bound by it until you are notified by an uninvolved administrator that the appeal has been successful. You are also free to contact me on my talk page if anything above is unclear to you. voorts (talk/contributions) 23:47, 9 December 2024 (UTC)
