On this page, the deletion or merging of templates and modules, except as noted below, is discussed.

How to use this page[edit]

What not to propose for discussion here[edit]

The majority of deletion and merger proposals concerning pages in the template namespace and module namespace should be listed on this page. However, there are a few exceptions:

Stub templates
Stub templates and categories should be listed at Categories for discussion, as these templates are merely containers for their categories, unless the stub template does not come with a category and is being nominated by itself.
Userboxes
Userboxes should be listed at Miscellany for deletion, regardless of the namespace in which they reside.
Speedy deletion candidates
If the template clearly satisfies a criterion for speedy deletion, tag it with a speedy deletion template. For example, if you wrote the template and request its deletion, tag it with {{Db-author}}.
Policy or guideline templates
Templates that are associated with particular Wikipedia policies or guidelines, such as the speedy deletion templates, cannot be listed at TfD separately. They should be discussed on the talk page of the relevant guideline.
Template redirects
List at Redirects for discussion.
Moving and renaming
Use Wikipedia:Requested moves.

Reasons to delete a template[edit]

  1. The template violates some part of the template namespace guidelines, and can't be altered to be in compliance.
  2. The template is redundant to a better-designed template.
  3. The template is not used, either directly or by template substitution (the latter cannot be concluded from the absence of backlinks), and has no likelihood of being used.
  4. The template violates a policy such as Neutral point of view or Civility and it can't be fixed through normal editing.

Templates should not be nominated if the issue can be fixed by normal editing. Instead, you should edit the template to fix its problems. If the template is complex and you don't know how to fix it, WikiProject Templates may be able to help.

Templates for which none of these apply may be deleted by consensus here. If a template is being misused, consider clarifying its documentation to indicate the correct use, or informing those that misuse it, rather than nominating it for deletion. Initiate a discussion on the template talk page if the correct use itself is under debate.

Listing a template[edit]

To list a template for deletion or merging, follow this three-step process. The use of Twinkle (explained below) is strongly recommended, as it automates and simplifies these steps. Note that the "Template:" prefix should not be included anywhere when carrying out these steps (unless otherwise specified).

Step Instructions
I: Tag the template. Add one of the following codes to the top of the template page:

Note:

  • If the template nominated is inline, do not add a newline between the TfD notice and the code of the template.
  • If the template to be nominated for deletion is protected, make a request for the TfD tag to be added, by posting on the template's talk page and using the {{editprotected}} template to catch the attention of administrators or Template editors.
  • For templates designed to be substituted, add <noinclude>...</noinclude> around the TfD notice to prevent it from being substituted alongside the template.
  • Do not mark the edit as minor.
  • Use an edit summary like
Nominated for deletion; see [[Wikipedia:Templates for discussion#Template:name of template]]
    or
Nominated for merging; see [[Wikipedia:Templates for discussion#Template:name of template]].
  • Before saving your edit, preview your edit to ensure the Tfd message is displayed properly.

Multiple templates: If you are nominating multiple related templates, choose a meaningful title for the discussion (like "American films by decade templates"). Tag every template with {{subst:Tfd|heading=discussion title}} or {{subst:Tfm|name of other template|heading=discussion title}} instead of the versions given above, replacing discussion title with the title you chose (but still not changing the PAGENAME code).

Related categories: If including template-populated tracking categories in the TfD nomination, add {{Catfd|template name}} to the top of any categories that would be deleted as a result of the TfD, this time replacing template name with the name of the template being nominated. (If you instead chose a meaningful title for a multiple nomination, use {{Catfd|header=title of nomination}} instead.)

TemplateStyles pages: The above templates will not work on TemplateStyles pages. Instead, add a CSS comment to the top of the page:

/* This template is being discussed in accordance with Wikipedia's deletion policy. Help reach a consensus at its entry: http://en.wiki.x.io/wiki/Wikipedia:Templates for discussion/Log/2024_May_29#Template:template_name.css */
II: List the template at TfD. Follow this link to edit today's TfD log.

Add this text to the top of the list:

  • For deletion: {{subst:Tfd2|template name|text=Why you think the template should be deleted. ~~~~}}
  • For merging: {{subst:Tfm2|template name|other template's name|text=Why you think the templates should be merged. ~~~~}}

If the template has had previous TfDs, you can add {{Oldtfdlist|previous TfD without brackets|result of previous TfD}} directly after the Tfd2/Catfd2 template.

Use an edit summary such as
Adding [[Template:template name]].

Multiple templates: If this is a deletion proposal involving multiple templates, use the following:

{{subst:Tfd2|template name 1|template name 2 ...|title=meaningful discussion title|text=Why you think the templates should be deleted. ~~~~}}

You can add up to 50 template names (separated by vertical bar characters | ). Make sure to include the same meaningful discussion title that you chose before in Step 1.

If this is a merger proposal involving more than two templates, use the following:

{{subst:Tfm2|template name 1|template name 2 ...|with=main template (optional)|title=meaningful discussion title|text=Why you think the templates should be merged. ~~~~}}

You can add up to 50 template names (separated by vertical bar characters | ), plus one more in |with=. |with= does not need to be used, but should be the template that you want the other templates to be merged into. Make sure to include the same meaningful discussion title that you chose before in Step 1.

Related categories: If this is a deletion proposal involving a template and a category populated solely by templates, add this code in the |text= field of the Tfd2 template but before the text of your rationale:

{{subst:Catfd2|category name}}
III: Notify users. Please notify the creator of the template nominated (as well as the creator of the target template, if proposing a merger). It is helpful to also notify the main contributors of the template that you are nominating. To find them, look in the page history or talk page of the template. Then, add one of the following:

to the talk pages of the template creator (and the creator of the other template for a merger) and the talk pages of the main contributors. It is also helpful to make any interested WikiProjects aware of the discussion. To do that, make sure the template's talk page is tagged with the banners of any relevant WikiProjects; please consider notifying any of them that do not use Article alerts.

Multiple templates: There is no template for notifying an editor about a multiple-template nomination: please write a personal message in these cases.

Consider adding any templates you nominate for TfD to your watchlist. This will help ensure that the TfD tag is not removed.

After nominating: Notify interested projects and editors[edit]

While it is sufficient to list a template for discussion at TfD (see above), nominators and others sometimes want to attract more attention from and participation by informed editors. All such efforts must comply with Wikipedia's guideline against biased canvassing.

To encourage participation by less experienced editors, please avoid Wikipedia-specific abbreviations in the messages you leave about the discussion, link to any relevant policies or guidelines, and link to the TfD discussion page itself. If you are recommending that a template be speedily deleted, please give the criterion that it meets.

Notifying related WikiProjects[edit]

WikiProjects are groups of editors that are interested in a particular subject or type of editing. If the article is within the scope of one or more WikiProjects, they may welcome a brief, neutral note on their project's talk page(s) about the TfD. You can use {{Tfd notice}} for this.

Tagging the nominated template's talk page with a relevant Wikiproject's banner will result in the template being listed in that project's Article Alerts automatically, if they subscribe to the system. For instance, tagging a template with {{WikiProject Physics}} will list the discussion in Wikipedia:WikiProject Physics/Article alerts.

Notifying substantial contributors to the template[edit]

While not required, it is generally considered courteous to notify the good-faith creator and any main contributors of the template and its talkpage that you are nominating for discussion. To find the creator and main contributors, look in the page history or talk page.

At this point, you've done all you need to do as nominator. Sometime after seven days have passed, someone else will either close the discussion or, where needed, "relist" it for another seven days of discussion. (That "someone" may not be you, the nominator.)

Once you have submitted a template here, no further action is necessary on your part. If the nomination is successful it will be added to the Holding Cell until the change is implemented. There is no requirement for nominators to be part of the implementation process, but they are allowed to if they so wish.

Also, consider adding any templates you nominate to your watchlist. This will help ensure that your nomination tag is not mistakenly or deliberately removed.

Twinkle[edit]

Twinkle is a convenient tool that can perform many of the posting and notification functions automatically, with fewer errors and missed steps than manual editing. Twinkle does not notify WikiProjects, although many of them have automatic alerts. It is helpful to notify any interested WikiProjects that don't receive alerts, but this has to be done manually.

Discussion[edit]

Anyone can join the discussion, but please understand the deletion policy and explain your reasoning.

People will sometimes also recommend subst or subst and delete and similar. This means the template text should be "merged" into the articles that use it. Depending on the content, the template page may then be deleted; if preserving the edit history for attribution is desirable, it may be history-merged with the target article or moved to mainspace and redirected.

Templates are rarely orphaned—that is, removed from pages that transclude them—before the discussion is closed. A list of open discussions eligible for closure can be found at Wikipedia:Templates for discussion/Old unclosed discussions.

Closing discussion[edit]

Administrators should read the closing instructions before closing a nomination. Note that WP:XFDcloser semi-automates this process and ensures all of the appropriate steps are taken.

Current discussions[edit]

May 29[edit]

Template:Arusha Rural District[edit]

Propose merging Template:Arusha Rural District with Template:Arusha District.
{{Arusha Rural District}} is fuller. Template:Arusha District should be turned into a disambiguation because {{Arusha Urban District}} exists as well. Aldij (talk) 14:28, 13 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

  • Comment Template:Arusha District shouldn't be turned into a disambiguation page and the Rural District main link links to the same article as the main district template. And on top of that, we have Template:Districts of Arusha which features all the same links on the main Arusha navbox, Template:Arusha. This may be a case of merging everything to one template, having sections for all these links, and deleting the rest of the navboxes. --WikiCleanerMan (talk) 00:15, 15 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Template:Dag[edit]

Propose merging Template:Dag with Template:Dagger.
I'm going slightly more "discussion" with this TFD than anything, primarily thinking that {{dag}} should either be merged into {{dagger}} or renamed to make it more obvious as to why it's being used (though expanding the name might then make it longer than just typing out the ... pair...). As it stands, {{dag}} by itself is potentially confusing (e.g. "what is a dag", or why it gives a superscript output) so I feel like something needs to be done. Primefac (talk) 14:40, 21 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I find it strange that we still use archaic print notations instead of hyperlinked notes. How are either of those better than a regular {{efn}} note? Gonnym (talk) 15:04, 21 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Primefac: The preferred option is to redirect {{dag}} to {{dagger}}. Given its minimal use, merging simplifies matters. However, if retaining the functionality is crucial, renaming {{dag}} to "superscript-dagger" or "dagger-sup" would clarify its purpose, albeit making it longer. Anoop Bhatia (talk) 02:19, 22 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
As far as I can tell, it's basically only used as part of {{TAAR ligands}}. Do we need a template for this at all? Caeciliusinhorto-public (talk) 08:40, 22 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Primefac: If choose to merge and retain functionality
{{#if: {{{s|}}} | <sup>†</sup> | † }}

{{dag}} will output †
{{dag|s}} will output †

Template:Party shading/South Tyrolean People's Party[edit]

Unused political party shading template. Gonnym (talk) 08:07, 21 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

It was meant to be used in the Trentino-Alto Adige provincial elections (like this one). I'd suggest to not remove it and replace the current party shading in the articles about the TAA provincial elections with the template. Broncoviz 🗩 🖉 09:09, 21 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Then use it. There is no reason to create a simple template and 7 months to not use it. Gonnym (talk) 11:50, 21 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Template:COVID-19 pandemic in Australia/Cases charts[edit]

The templates are now unused. They once appeared on the Statistics of the COVID-19 pandemic in Australia page, which is now a redirect to the main COVID-19 pandemic in Australia page. They have not been updated for over two years and so are unlikely to be used in the future. They all fulfil the deletion criteria under WP:TFD#REASONS 3. Unused, not likely to be used. Template:Comparison of Mercator projections.svg[edit]

Before deleting it, please see http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File_talk:Comparison_of_cylindrical_projections.svg . Thanks, cmɢʟeeτaʟκ 12:56, 28 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Cmglee you've linked to a discussion of a file on commons. That isn't related to this. The file over there isn't being nominated for deletion. Gonnym (talk) 16:29, 28 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry, my reply could have been clearer. This is the situation:
  1. Template:Comparison of Mercator projections.svg was originally used on the articles Mercator projection, Transverse Mercator projection and Oblique Mercator projection – having it as a template rather than separate thumbnails makes the caption consistent on all the articles: updating it updates all transclusions.
  2. @Justinkunimune: uploaded File:Comparison_of_cylindrical_projections.svg with the text labels changed and put them in the articles causing the template to no longer be used anywhere.
  3. In the talk page, I question whether the new SVG is better than the old, as the new labels are less descriptive.
  4. I thus request that the template be kept until the issue is settled.
Cheers, cmɢʟeeτaʟκ 21:34, 28 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete The truth is I wish we’d delete all of these templates below the NCAA D1 level with exceptions for programs that were at one time D1 or the rare cases where all the coaches meet GNG at lower levels. People create these and then nobody maintains them or puts effort into creating the red linked articles ever. IMO most Bluffton head basketball coaches don’t meet GNG so having a template is pointless. Rikster2 (talk) 17:23, 20 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

    • If the information is important then it could be included in a Bluffton Beavers men's basketball article, which notably no one has ever bothered to create. Not only does the template in question have only two actual articles, the most recent coach with an article was active over 50 years ago. That is a stunning lack of interest in a currently-active college basketball program. I would reckon that the vast majority of head coaches from the >350 Division I schools in the past 50 years have articles, because there is great general interest in that level. The same is not true of lower divisions, it is the exception not the rule that a program has a notable enough coaching history for this type of template. If no one cares enough to create the articles, why have a placeholder for a bunch of red links? Rikster2 (talk) 12:40, 28 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Template:Short Film Golden Bear Winners[edit]

Navigation box that isn't providing much navigation. Of the 67 films that have won this award since it was first introduced in 1956, just six of them currently have articles linked to in Short Film Golden Bear -- if there are others that have articles but have been overlooked for linking, I don't have the depth of knowledge to find most of them -- and only two of them even had their articles properly linked in this template prior to me finding it just now, so that I had to wikilink them in here myself. I additionally caught one instance where a film that won this award in the 1980s was being erroneously dual-listed as also winning it in the 1970s instead of the film that actually won it in the earlier year -- and even that, I only caught because it was one of the titles I had to link, and thus had a "hey, wait, didn't I already link that one?" moment when I got to the second appearance, so there may still be other errors in here that I failed to notice.
Additionally, the article is so cluttered up, with the names of the directors alongside most (but not all) of the films, that it takes up more visual space on the few articles than necessary and it's somewhat difficult to even find the few wikilinks on a casual scan at all because they're strewn throughout so much unlinked text.
Obviously no prejudice against recreation in the future if and when a larger number of films listed here have articles to link -- but with very few films in this template actually having articles at present, and short films being much harder to write properly sourced articles about at the best of times due to receiving much less WP:GNG-worthy coverage as a rule, for the time being the article is sufficient and a navigation box isn't helpful. Bearcat (talk) 18:00, 18 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

  • Keep It has six links to actual articles. Whether some of the meet notability should be decided through the PROD and/or Afd process, but only after that. I've cut down on all non-links including the names of the filmmakers. It still meets the basic merit for navigation of four or more links. --WikiCleanerMan (talk) 18:12, 20 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
This is not a template that has any value as an "only films with articles to link" subset — it's a template whose value inherently requires it to be a complete list of every film that ever won this award whether it has an article or not. Specific-award navboxes always need to be completely filled out with all winners of the award, and have no value as partial incomplete lists selected on any criteria narrower than "all winners in". Bearcat (talk) 21:11, 20 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
But this feels as if this is more about the article's notability than anything to do with the template. Ideally, every film should have an article that has won this award, but we still have enough for a navigation purpose. Anything to do with articles should discussed in the space where articles are concerned. --WikiCleanerMan (talk) 14:40, 21 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Sure, ideally we would have an article about every film that won this award — but in the real world we don't, and in the real world short films tend to be much harder (not invariably impossible, but harder) to actually write NFILM-satisfying articles about because they often (not always, but often) lack the kind of GNG-building coverage that feature films have, so there's just no prospect of most of the other articles actually getting filled in anytime soon. It's not a question of the notability of the films — every single film that does have an article already has fully adequate sourcing in it to support one, so absolutely none of their notabilities are in any question. But if the template is to exist, then it must list every film whose title is present in the article regardless of whether that film has an article to link to or not — film award navboxes have no value at all if they're anything short of complete — so taking unlinked titles out of the navbox doesn't solve the problem, because even unlinked titles must be in the navbox if the navbox is to exist at all. It's either "every title that has won the award since its creation is in the navbox" or "no navbox at all", not anything in between. Bearcat (talk) 14:55, 21 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah I converted it because the current template was not allowing for more than 20 paragraphs to be outputted. I figured it was a technical limitation with using just wikitext, but now that a module is being used more than 20 paragraphs can be spat out (but larger outputs take longer and increase the chances of getting "the allotted time for running scripts has expired"). Plus there were some weird things happening with HTML and XML tags in one of the templates I was writing, {{word count}}, causing lint errors. But now that that is fixed there should not really be any problem. Awesome Aasim 14:18, 23 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Template:Edit semi-protected[edit]

Propose merging Template:Edit semi-protected with Template:Request edit.

As I have (surprisingly) recently discovered, this entire family of templates auto-detects the protection level of the template for which the edit request is being made. This means that an {{FPER}} placed on a template-protected template will result in exactly the same thing as a {{TPER}}. Because of this, it seems to me that there is little reason to keep these all as separate templates, instead using the more obvious and reasonably-named {{request edit}} as the base template for this family (instead of the latter template being used as a dab for all five). Primefac (talk) 15:53, 22 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I have struck {{request edit}} since most of the participants feel it's not well-suited for the final target. Primefac (talk) 13:00, 23 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

  • Merge the first five together but keep {{request edit}} as is since COI edit requests are, and need to be, a separate process (a page someone has a COI with can also be protected). * Pppery * it has begun... 16:02, 22 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Perhaps a parameter such as COI=yes or type=COI could be used to flag the type of edit request that is being made, which would allow all six templates to be merged into Template:Request edit. That would still keep them a separate process. Adam Black tc 16:50, 22 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Is there any reason to do that, though? It seems to just make things more complicated for everyone. * Pppery * it has begun... 18:30, 22 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I don't see how it complicates things, it streamlines the process of requesting an edit. Btw, {{request edit}} has been deprecated, so you're already meant to use a different template - {{edit COI}}. Adam Black tc 22:27, 23 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Should probably have "request" in its name. Gonnym (talk) 19:29, 22 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

  • Merge first five unless there is some yet-to-be-discovered reason to have them separate. Gonnym (talk) 19:30, 22 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

If these are merged, will a switch be available to select a rights level for that situation? -- 65.92.244.237 (talk) 02:33, 23 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
  • Meh Except the last, they're all wrappers for Module:Protected edit request with slightly different arguments, so in that sense they're already merged. But we should probably keep the slightly different behavior in that {{Edit fully-protected}} should default to fully-protected if the auto-detection fails, {{Edit semi-protected}} to semi-protected, and so on rather than turning them all into redirects to a single wrapper. {{Request edit}} should probably have no default, if that's reasonable. Anomie 12:01, 23 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
  • Weak merge, now that the last has been struck, keep different behavior defaults if feasible per Anomie. I also agree that with everything already under one-module it really doesn't make that much of a difference. 2601:5CC:8300:A7F0:4CF1:7456:BBC:F8B5 (talk) 20:30, 24 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support merge - I do like Anomie's point about the default action Happy Editing--IAmChaos 01:39, 25 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
  • Conditional oppose merge per Anomie. These separate 'templates' are just wrappers for that edit request module really, so not any duplicated template code to worry about. Let's not possibly cause unintended behaviour for a template that's used at least hundreds of times everyday, especially with the auto-detect failover. There are other potential complications like what 65.92.244.237 has written above. Though, consider this vote invalidated if it's possible to merge all of these templates together without changing the behaviour and functionality of these templates. — AP 499D25 (talk) 05:56, 25 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
  • Conditional support creating a template with auto-detection, as long as the existing templates are kept per SilverLocust and Anomie. Rusty4321 talk contribs 14:21, 27 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support, but the target should maybe be {{Protected edit request}}. {{Request edit}} may be the destination or redirect to a different merge target, since hatnotes can direct users to more appropriate templates. SWinxy (talk) 23:30, 27 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Template:Varies/doc[edit]

Unused as the template uses Template:Table cell templates/doc. Gonnym (talk) 14:58, 22 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Template:Infobox mapframe/doc/templatedata[edit]

Propose merging Template:Infobox mapframe/doc/templatedata with Template:Infobox mapframe/doc.
Merge the TemplateData to the main /doc template (Template:Infobox mapframe/doc#TemplateData). Since it was created in 2020 and hasn't been updated once since, the parameters need to be checked to see if they are still up to date. Gonnym (talk) 14:54, 22 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Template:Government/doc/navboxes[edit]

Unclear sidebar subpage. Unused and not a doc page. Gonnym (talk) 14:49, 22 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Looks like a template that never really took off in usage when it was made in 2010. At this point, such reviews are handled by WP:FFD, and the {{Oldffdfull}} template points readers in the direction of relevant discussions for files. (Also, if this template is deleted, Category:PD reviewed files should probably be deleted per {{Db-g8}} as dependent on the nominated template.) Steel1943 (talk) 22:20, 14 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

  • Comment NFCC/NFUR and PD discussions were merged into FFD, so this should be a remainder of a defunct process -- 65.92.244.237 (talk) 03:49, 18 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
It wasn't used for either process though. It was a template that was created then never utilized. Steel1943 (talk) 21:53, 19 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete as unused. If it was in use, there would be an argument for keeping it for historical purposes. However, it is not. HouseBlaster (talk · he/him) 03:55, 25 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Template:Pedagogy sidebar

Unused sidebar. Gonnym (talk) 08:23, 21 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Then you can add it to other articles. Your nominations of late are nominating good useful templates without thinking they should be added to articles before going to Tfd. --WikiCleanerMan (talk) 00:23, 29 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Template:Water polo men's national under-19 team

[edit]

There are no under-19 team articles, nor do I suspect there will be any created in the near future (yes, it's a bit of CRYSTAL, but water polo isn't exactly a hugely popular sport). Thus, I see little to no reason to have these templates purely for the purposes of creating redlinks. Primefac (talk) 14:52, 14 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I created the 2024 Men's European U-19 Water Polo Championship, 2024 Women's European U-19 Water Polo Championship and 2024 Men's European U-19 Water Polo Championship Qualifiers articles that use the templates and will be used even more when both tournaments start. Thus ,they will obviously be used in the future and the men's U-19 template has been extensively used in the 2024 Men's European U-19 Water Polo Championship Qualifiers page. Get your facts right before you nominate stuff for deletion. ILoveSport2006 (talk) 17:37, 14 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
ILoveSport2006, you have misunderstood my nomination; ‹See Tfd› Hungary does not exist. Nor does any page for any country at the U19 level. Since this is unlikely to change in the near future, there is no reason to have custom linking templates for them. Primefac (talk) 19:22, 14 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Alright I did misunderstand, what's the alternative? Having to write Hungary men's national under-19 water polo team every single time for each country when needed and adding a flag icon every time. The main benefit of this template and templates like it is the convenience. Also, these templates plus the European U-19 Championship articles will increase the chances of a potential article for a national team being created. There was no reason for the templates in the past because no articles were created for the U-19 age group in water polo, but now that I started the articles and have the ambition to create more articles for the U-19 World Championships and future European Championships in the age group, there will be more of a need for these templates in the future. ILoveSport2006 (talk) 21:34, 14 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
No, you would just write {{flag|Hungary}} Hungary because the point is to give a flag and a country name, not necessarily a redlink. I also am not saying that these templates can never be created or used, but currently there is zero point in having them. If you really want to link to the national team (which many I suspect will have an "Under-X" section) use the main {{wp}} or {{wpw}} templates. Primefac (talk) 12:34, 15 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete per nomination. --WikiCleanerMan (talk) 00:18, 15 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
    • Keep There's a place for these templates like I said before.
    ILoveSport2006 (talk) 14:19, 20 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Also, most water polo national team wiki pages only talk about youth teams at a passing glance and use the same sentence. Nothing substantial. So the I suspect they include a "Under-X" section argument is wrong. Only the pages of Spain's men and women, plus Croatia's men, address the youth teams in any significant form. ILoveSport2006 (talk) 14:27, 20 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete per nom. No point in having a custom template to add a redlink. * Pppery * it has begun... 19:04, 28 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
