Template categorisation
[edit]Hi Useddenim, when creating new templates such as Template:Anzac Avenue they should not be placed in content categories per WP:CAT#T. AusLondonder (talk) 11:15, 10 October 2024 (UTC)
- Also, with some of these templates such as Template:Sunshine Motorway, I am unable to remove them from Category:Highways in Queensland. Is that part of the template's design? AusLondonder (talk) 11:19, 10 October 2024 (UTC)
- @AusLondonder: This has come up in the past, and the consensus has been that Route diagram templates are a special case because in general they do contain supplementary content (similar to photos and other images). Their insertion into specific categories is a semi-automatic function, documented at Template:Road-routemap#Optional parameters.

Route diagram template request?
[edit]Hi! I hope this doesn't come off disrespectful in any way. I wanted to see if you were interested in potentially helping me with creating some route diagram templates since you're far more proficient at creating and tweaking them. I was curious if you'd be interested in helping me with creating a unified system-wide template for the Ottawa O-Train LRT, since I've recently finished up adding some detail to the individual line templates and adding interactive maps. Feel free to disregard this message if you're uninterested, I just wanted to inquire if this would be a possibility you'd consider.
If you're also interested, I have a short list on my sandbox page of whatever other remaining rail transit systems in North America that lack unified route diagram templates. I've marked four I feel are realistically doable, which consist of three relatively minor heritage streetcar systems in the U.S. and the Exo commuter rail system in Montreal. Due to the radial layout of the Exo system, I think a layout similar to Template:GO Transit rail RDT could work. If you want to really save the hassle, you can take a look at User:Jonesey95/self-transcluded-templates every once in a week to see the new route templates that are added there. [edit]I'm rather ambivalent about the naming format, but if you're going to move the pages for Kheha BTS station and Khu Khot BTS station, the same should be considered for all pages in Category:BTS Skytrain stations. It's a large move that should be discussed in an RM, so I've reverted the two changes for now. --Paul_012 (talk) 17:49, 30 January 2025 (UTC)
- @Paul 012: Well, I don't think that you can argue against the WP:CONCISE and WP:PRECISE rationales, especially as there are already several BTS stations that don't have BTS in their title.
