BLAR notice
[edit]Hi there. While reviewing new pages, I noticed that a page you created, Socialist Party of the Yukon Territory, does not appear to meet Wikipedia's notability guidelines as a standalone article. As an alternative to deletion, I've redirected it to Socialist Party of Canada. If you disagree, feel free to revert my redirect and we can proceed to a deletion discussion at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion. (If you reply here, please ping me as I am not watching your talk page.) Thanks! Dclemens1971 (talk) 03:51, 9 January 2025 (UTC)
- {{ping|Dclemens1971}} Hello ! Out of curiosity, which segments of the guidelines do you say the article does not meet ? Remikipedia (talk) 01:53, 10 January 2025 (UTC)
- I'm new to the non-editing functions of Wikipedia so I do not know if I pinged correctly User:Dclemens1971. Remikipedia (talk) 01:55, 10 January 2025 (UTC)
- You did, thanks for pinging me! If you read WP:BRANCH, you'll see that a regional/local branch of a parent organization requires significant coverage in independent, reliable sources outside the area of the branch. However, the Western Clarion isn't independent (it was an organ of the Socialist Party of Canada); and the book and dissertations have only passing mentions of the Yukon party. If you have other sources, you could restore the article and add them, but review WP:BRANCH carefully for the notability standards on this type of organization. Hope this helps explain. Dclemens1971 (talk) 03:52, 10 January 2025 (UTC)
- Thank you for the clarification Dclemens1971 ! I'll be sure to try to find independent reliable sources if I can. Remikipedia (talk) 04:42, 10 January 2025 (UTC)
