Tools
[edit]Hello there. I'd recommend that you use fast and efficient tools such as WP:Twinkle or WP:Ultraviolet to revert and warn Users within 3 clicks. Just a thought, thought. Hacked (Talk|Contribs) 05:53, 24 January 2025 (UTC)
- Thank you, I quite new to this and don't know how to do everything properly yet. This was very helpful Nixovel (talk) 05:56, 24 January 2025 (UTC)
- Yeah, I've faced similar problems when I was an inexperienced User. If you have further questions about anything, feel free to ask me or the editors at the WP:Teahouse. Hacked (Talk|Contribs) 05:58, 24 January 2025 (UTC)
LTA
[edit]Hey, just as a note, nothing you’ve done wrong. But personally if/when I’ve reverted that LTA that targets the Teahouse and elsewhere I don’t bother templating the talkpage. WP:DENY and all. Just revert and report and move on seems to be the best way to deal with it. Regards, -bɜ:ʳkənhɪmez | me | talk to me! 08:50, 24 January 2025 (UTC)
- Thanks, I quite new so I'm still learning the ropes :D. Nixovel (talk) 08:52, 24 January 2025 (UTC)
- No worries. Usually template warnings are appropriate even when it’s someone obviously vandalizing. But in this case, the templates will have no effect so DENY is best to follow :) -bɜ:ʳkənhɪmez | me | talk to me! 08:53, 24 January 2025 (UTC)
I was reverting vandalism to promote a micronation. Why did you revert it back?
[edit]Okay, so here's my piece.
The Great Dismal Swamp maroons are a real people.
But a group of people who are LARPing as Shi'ite Muslim Melungeons are trying to claim that they are "Ethnic Qarsherskiyans" and try to link the community to their fake nationality.
Every source about "Qarsherskiyans" come from pages about micronations (that aren't from people LARPING) No matter how hard they try to say otherwise, Qarhserkiy is a micronation.
I have been hounded by these people who are calling me racists and genocide deniers from other micronations. The mods agree that Qarsherskiy is not real. My edit was reverting vandalism from white fakers.
SpaceboundRocket (talk) 20:59, 24 January 2025 (UTC)
- I don't know what has been happening on that page, but what I saw was people engaging in an edit war. I reverted to an earlier version to protect the page. Additionally, as stated on your talk page, controversial changes must be made only via consensus of editors on the articles talk page. I do not know the specifics of this issue, all I know is that there was an edit war taking place. I will request the page be temporarily locked to combat this. Nixovel (talk) 21:17, 24 January 2025 (UTC)
- Ah, good.
- One of the editors involved, BlueFire7337, had been blocked over this.
- Other "Qarsherkiyans" are denying that "Qarsherkiy" is a micronation or saying "well they're stealing the name from us". Ignoring the fact that all the evidence points to them being linked to the micronation.
- The editors seemed to be asleep because their changes were up for a month before I Googled what it meant and realized it was a micronation.
- They were basically trying to hijack the page. SpaceboundRocket (talk) 23:24, 24 January 2025 (UTC)
- If you believe to have reached a consensus, please feel free to revert the edit. Please note that Wikipedia is based on consensus not voting. Nixovel (talk) 21:23, 24 January 2025 (UTC)

Factual accuracy
[edit]If you're going to revert someone for 'factual errors' you should make sure the citation you provide actually verifies what you're restoring. Traumnovelle (talk) 06:02, 25 January 2025 (UTC)
- It is cited in the article. Admittedly, the source isn't independent of the subject but due to this being a basic detail, I believe this is allowed under wikipedia's guidelines. The linked source is the homepage for the schools website and it says "Ko Hēmi Hakena Mātou". This translates to We Are James Hargest. The addition of "Te Kura o" means The School. The subject directly states this as it alternative name. Nixovel (talk) 06:30, 25 January 2025 (UTC)
- Yes, so it is as I initially suspected an OR translation by a user with dubious translations and my edit removing it based on the fact that the translation in question only appears to exist on Wikipedia is not a 'factual error'. Traumnovelle (talk) 07:09, 25 January 2025 (UTC)
- I don't know how you can't find the translation, it's the first result I see when I google it. Nixovel (talk) 07:10, 25 January 2025 (UTC)
- The first result when you google the translation given is the WP article: [1] Traumnovelle (talk) 08:03, 25 January 2025 (UTC)
- Ah, I see where the confusion arises. Hemi Hakena is the offical alternate name and Te Kura o is added purely for grammatical accuracy . Nixovel (talk) 08:12, 25 January 2025 (UTC)
- The first result when you google the translation given is the WP article: [1] Traumnovelle (talk) 08:03, 25 January 2025 (UTC)

Links to draft articles
[edit]Please do not introduce links in actual articles to draft articles, as you did to Invercargill. Since a draft is not yet ready for the main article space, it is not in shape for ordinary readers, and links from articles should not go to a draft. Such links are contrary to the Manual of Style. These links have been removed. Thank you. - Arjayay (talk) 11:38, 25 January 2025 (UTC)
