Adding reference to Wikipedia articles

[edit]
Just follow the steps as shown, and fill in the details

Hello Manakpreet Singh! Please do not forget to add references from reliable sources for the content you add to Wikipedia. This helps maintain our policy of verifiability. Adding well-formatted references is easy.

  1. While editing any article or a wikipage, on the top of the edit window you will see a toolbar which says "cite". Click on it.
  2. Then click on "templates".
  3. Choose the most appropriate template and then fill all relevant details. You can start with the field (e.g. URL) that has a magnifying glass icon and then click the magnifying glass to automatically populate the fields for you.

This will add a well-formatted reference, which will allow other people to see where you got your information from. You can read more about this at Help:Edit toolbar, or watch this video: File:RefTools.ogv. Thanks and regards. —DBigXray 13:19, 24 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Please do not edit Rajya Sabha and Current members of Rajya Sabha wikipages. Read the reference given below.

Ajaib Singh Bhati moved to draftspace

[edit]

An article you recently created, Ajaib Singh Bhati, does not have enough sources and citations as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. Punjab LA election articles

[edit]

Thanks for creating these articles, but please stop creating them at the wrong titles. Also, the articles in their current state are not really acceptable for Wikipedia and need some serious improvement. The basic requirements are:

  1. Add some introductory text to the article
  2. Fix the references so they are not bare urls
  3. Put the articles in categories
  4. Add the election templates
  5. Ensure that the results table has columns of numbers right-aligned

You can see some examples of how to correct these issues here. Could you review all the articles you created and sort them out? Cheers, Number 57 17:36, 18 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Copying within Wikipedia requires attribution

[edit]

Information icon Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you copied or moved text from Speaker of the Lok Sabha into List of Speakers of Punjab Legislative Assembly. While you are welcome to re-use Wikipedia's content, here or elsewhere, Wikipedia's licensing does require that you provide attribution to the original contributor(s). When copying within Wikipedia, this is supplied at minimum in an edit summary at the page into which you've copied content, disclosing the copying and linking to the copied page, e.g., copied content from [[page name]]; see that page's history for attribution. It is good practice, especially if copying is extensive, to also place a properly formatted {{copied}} template on the talk pages of the source and destination. The attribution has been provided for this situation, but if you have copied material between pages before, even if it was a long time ago, please provide attribution for that duplication. You can read more about the procedure and the reasons at Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia. Thank you. If you are the sole author of the prose that was copied, attribution is not required. — Diannaa 🍁 (talk) 15:02, 26 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Manakpreet Singh. It has been over six months since you last edited the Articles for Creation submission or Draft page you started, "United Democratic Front".

In accordance with our policy that Wikipedia is not for the indefinite hosting of material deemed unsuitable for the encyclopedia mainspace, the draft has been nominated for deletion. If you plan on working on it further, or editing it to address the issues raised if it was declined, simply edit the submission and remove the {{db-afc}}, {{db-draft}}, or {{db-g13}} code.

If your submission has already been deleted by the time you get there, and you wish to retrieve it, you can request its undeletion by following the instructions at this link. An administrator will, in most cases, restore the submission so you can continue to work on it.

Thanks for your submission to Wikipedia, and happy editing. CptViraj (Talk) 09:05, 31 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion nomination of Punjab State Human Rights Commission

[edit]

Hello Manakpreet Singh,

I wanted to let you know that I just tagged Punjab State Human Rights Commission for deletion, because it seems to be copied from another source, probably infringing copyright.

If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to rewrite it in your own words, you can contest this deletion, but don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions. Thanks!

Thank you so much Manakpreet Singh (talk) 00:35, 29 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Iqbal Ahmed Ansari requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be an unambiguous copyright infringement. This page appears to be a direct copy from http://pshrc.net/Home/ChairPersons. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites or other printed material as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. The same holds if you are not the owner but have their permission. If you are not the owner and do not have permission, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for how you may obtain it. You might want to look at Wikipedia's copyright policy for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Batala Municipal Corporation moved to draftspace

[edit]

An article you recently created, Batala Municipal Corporation, is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. Hatchens (talk) 08:32, 6 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Information icon Please do not introduce links in actual articles to draft articles, as you did to Batala. Since a draft is not yet ready for the main article space, it is not in shape for ordinary readers, and links from articles should not go to a draft. Such links are contrary to the Manual of Style. These links have been removed. Thank you. - Arjayay (talk) 14:26, 6 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry but nothing has been deleted from 1923 Punjab Legislative Council election. The article is its in original form as i wrote. If something violatie copyright then I supposed it would have been deleted by now. I strongly opposed this restriction and Criticise this action. Show me which material in this Article violated copyright. Thanks Manakpreet Singh (talk) 01:33, 21 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Regarding Central Sikh League article I didn't got any prior notice. And I read about Central Sikh League from different sources as given in references and also from Sikhencyclopedia and then wrote without any copy and paste. I vehemently opposed this action. Manakpreet Singh (talk) 01:38, 21 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Your addition to Central Sikh League was flagged by a bot as a potential copyright issue and was assessed by myself. Here is a link to the bot report. Click on the iThenticate link to view the opverlap.
Similarly, a bot detected the copyright problem on 1923 Punjab Legislative Council election. Here is a link to the bot report. I only had to remove a small amount of text, so that's why the article does not look much different.
Regarding being blocked without warning after your violation of the copyright policy on Central Sikh League, you had already received six warnings regarding copyright issues, so it became obvious to me that only a block would stop you.— Diannaa (talk) 12:03, 21 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Yes it stopped me from all kind of contribution in Wikipedia regarding articles and donations etc. I just got an Idea from Sikhencyclopaedia what to write and what to not because from the Primary sources (References) described about Central Sikh League in huge length and details of each and every incident. Thanks Manakpreet Singh (talk) 14:23, 21 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I feel good and satisfied for my contribution till now. I wish good luck to Wikipedia and my departure from this platform will not make any difference to Wikipedia. "Manakpreet Singh" provides a little knowledge about me. Now as I blocked indefinitely, I think there is no need of this Page. My last wish, Please delete this also. After this message, I will not reply to any other message. Thank you Manakpreet Singh (talk) 14:32, 21 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Deletion discussion about Nawan Punjab Party

[edit]

Hello Manakpreet Singh, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia.

While your contributions are appreciated, I wanted to let you know that I've started a discussion about whether an article that you created, Nawan Punjab Party, should be deleted, as I am not sure that it is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia in its current form. Your comments are welcome at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Nawan Punjab Party.

Deletion discussions usually run for seven days and are not votes. Our guide about effectively contributing to such discussions is worth a read. The most common issue in these discussions is notability, but it's not the only aspect that may be discussed; read the nomination and any other comments carefully before you contribute to the discussion. Last but not least, you are highly encouraged to continue improving the article; just be sure not to remove the tag about the deletion nomination from the top.

If you have any questions, please leave a comment here and prepend it with {{Re|Sionk}}. And don't forget to sign your reply with ~~~~ . Thanks!
