I see that you created this article - there seems to be some confusion, as the co-ordinates point to a village of this name outside Ruthin in Denbighshire. Also, the illustration is of the Denbighshire village. Can you take another look. Cheers. -- Daemonic Kangaroo (talk) 07:35, 1 December 2011 (UTC)

Munich U-Bahn

[edit]

I just noticed via interwikilinks that you created a few articles on Munich U-Bahn stations. I will redirect and merge them into the already existing articles. The problem was that deWiki was long resisting the idea of having those articles so when thy where created noone interwikilinked them. Agathoclea (talk) 11:55, 1 December 2011 (UTC)

Oops, sorry about that, thanks, much appreciated.♦ Dr. Blofeld 11:56, 1 December 2011 (UTC)

That looks like part of a big package :-) Will have to to get busy tagging all that for WP:MUC. Do you want Category:Districts of Munich deleted - I noticed you created that and then blanked it. Agathoclea (talk) 13:39, 1 December 2011 (UTC)

I don't see any particular problems. You are more purposeful than I am. I have been random walking a bit lately, starting articles and then trying to turn redlinks in them blue. Somehow Abuja seems like familiar territory. My preference is to write about stuff I know nothing about at all, and there is no shortage of subjects. Did I let you down on the Argentine movies? I wonder if you might have any info to start a stub for Werner Krenn - I keep running across his name, but there's nothing here. Thanks for starting Edmond de Stoutz, and thanks again for anything you can find for Krenn. Barnstar

[edit]

Thank you for the barnstar. I was just starting the Germany chapter of the book I bought with the help of Wikimedia UK. I began with referedums and Constitutional Assembly elections, and am now going back to 1871 to start on the parliamentary elections, but have more data on GDR elections for 1950, 1954, 1963 and 1990 which I will add at some point in the near future. Thanks for helping me out with the article of my favorite news reporter.

[edit]

I will admit I could have easily translated everything from the Icelandic wikipedia, I didn't feel like doing it because I don't like Wikipedia, that's not a good reason to not improve the articles I will admit that. And that just proves laziness. Next time I try to make changes to Wikipedia I shouldn't let the fact that I don't like this site discourage me from doing it. So I apologize for my laziness. BlazeTheMovieFan (talk) 21:47, 6 December 2011 (UTC)

You are so right, man. My reasons for not helping this site is because I don't trust it. That is weak and pathetic. I also don't use any sources because I don't trust any of them, that's also weak and pathetic. I should read more policies with a more open mind and not think negatively about this site. If everyone thought like me that Wikipedia is a site you can't trust, this site wouldn't be this big. But it's hard for me to think positively about this site when I'm convinced most articles can't be trusted. Maybe it was a bad idea to return to this site. I can help this site if I just focus on the positive aspects of the site, and I'm sure there are but I haven't thought of them yet. But I am gonna think of them and hopefully one day I can be a good Wikipedian. Currently I'm not. BlazeTheMovieFan (talk) 22:07, 6 December 2011 (UTC)

Blof, I've been updating the Zinta article since yesterday. Now I wonder if I should remove the following text from the article:
"In March 2007, Zinta was involved in a scandal when actress and singer Suchitra Krishnamurthy cited her as the cause of her divorce from Shekhar Kapur, alleging that Zinta was having an affair with him.[115] Although initially silent on the issue, after another accusation by Krishnamurthy, Zinta retorted, "It is unfortunate that I am bearing the brunt of someone else's paranoia. She's clearly unstable and I wish her a speedy recovery."[115] She issued a statement that she had met Kapur only five times in ten years and publicly demanded that he step forward and clear her of the accusation.[116] Thereafter, the controversy came to an end.[117]"
What do you think? Does it really have some relevance? Or could it be shortened? ShahidTalk2me 16:16, 17 December 2011 (UTC)

Not exactly sure, but it seems the ref is no longer recognized if its first instance occurs in the infobox. Used to make no difference. Anyway, these refs are going to be different for each district (and most of the templates they rely on do not yet exist), so if you could just comment them out (and replace the "Angarsky" substring with the name of the district being edited), that'll be OK. I'll take care of them during my pass. Cheers,—Ëzhiki (Igels Hérissonovich Ïzhakoff-Amursky) • (yo?); December 15, 2011; 18:21 (UTC)
Thanks! Can you also create the five missing ones in Ust-Orda Buryat Okrug though? They would use the same template; the only difference would be in the lead ("a district of Ust-Orda Buryat Okrug of Irkutsk Oblast" instead of "a district of Irkutsk Oblast).—Ëzhiki (Igels Hérissonovich Ïzhakoff-Amursky) • (yo?); December 15, 2011; 21:28 (UTC)

Hello again, thanks for the barnstar and nice message on my talk page. It's great to be welcomed back so nicely after a fairly long break in activity - Dumelow (talk) 08:28, 16 December 2011 (UTC)

The article Park, Cornwall has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Village does not appear to exist, does not appear on Google Maps per citation, does not appear in any searches of census or similar. Article creator may have been referring to Par, Cornwall

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Yunshui  10:47, 16 December 2011 (UTC)

Sorry for the template, I hadn't realised until after I PRODded the article that it was one of yours. Nevertheless, my reasoning stands - I've spend much of my life in Cornwall, and I've never come across this place, nor could I find it through searches (including G-maps). Could it be a misspelling of Par, Cornwall - that's definitely real, I've been through it many times. Yunshui  10:47, 16 December 2011 (UTC)

Al Darbasiyah

[edit]

Hi Dr. Blofeld, You have added the coordinates of the Syrian town of Al-Darbasiyah in April 2008. Can you please check the coordinates ? The town appears to be misplaced in latitude. Cheers. Nedim Ardoğa (talk) 13:26, 17 December 2011 (UTC)

Thank you. I try my best. Nedim Ardoğa (talk) 14:10, 17 December 2011 (UTC)

Hi Dr. Blofeld--

I was just now at User talk:Kleinzach leaving a new message about Isaac Stern, and the fact that his long-time accompanist Alexander Zakin not only has no article, but not even a mention.

In the meantime I noticed immediately above my new post that User:Scarabocchio was complaining about your stubs, so I responded with a link to your stub philosophy. Oh well. Milkunderwood (talk) 08:16, 18 December 2011 (UTC)

Here:

I like the idea of the minimum of a Start class for a new article and will try to adopt it myself. The inclusion of stubs that add little or no value -- Kleines Theater (Salzburg) is an absurd extreme -- just wastes readers' time. Scarabocchio (talk) 07:53, 14 December 2011 (UTC)

Scarabocchio, you might want to discuss stubs with Dr. Blofeld - also see User:Dr. Blofeld/Stub and development philosophy. Personally I'm pretty agnostic on the subject, but I can certainly see his point. Milkunderwood (talk) 08:01, 18 December 2011 (UTC)

FWIW, my own POV is that Stern was a good but rarely great violinist in concerto work, but his extensive tour of the duo literature with Zakin was pretty incredible. The two of them had an unerring sense of the time and place, and the unique idiom, of every composer they ever tackled, from Bach to Hindemith. They never simply played notes from a page, but obviously always asked themselves, for instance, What does Prokofiev sound like? This is very hard to do, and the only other duo I know of who came at all close, in a much more limited repertoire, were Thibaud and Cortot. Milkunderwood (talk) 08:35, 18 December 2011 (UTC)

Well, my goodness! That's certainly no stub - it's an amazing full article, complete with photo. You guys are great! Milkunderwood (talk) 20:24, 18 December 2011 (UTC)
Thanks. But if people request an article, I'm more likely to add something more meaningful... I quite like having the occasional request or AFD thrown at me as I sometimes feel lost at what to edit!! ♦ Dr. Blofeld 20:29, 18 December 2011 (UTC)

Gee whiz! Another zilch, this time on Lydia Mordkovitch [1]. Should I keep them coming? Milkunderwood (talk) 00:08, 19 December 2011 (UTC)

Well, so far these are not stubs at all, but full-blown articles. I tip my hat, sir. Milkunderwood (talk) 22:14, 19 December 2011 (UTC)

Food and other matters

[edit]

Oh, I know what you mean...food is my greatest weakness. And I've been relying on the gym almost entirely for my weight loss - I couldn't give up the things I enjoy eating. (Well, I could, but it wouldn't be pretty.) Although I've about given up on it for this month. Either I go to the gym or I wrap presents...there's no middle ground, it seems. Ah, well - I'll get back into it with gusto come the new year. --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 18:20, 20 December 2011 (UTC)

That seems to have worked for me - I haven't checked, but I'm sure my metabolism has gotten higher since I started working out. Still got a ways to go, though. --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 18:45, 20 December 2011 (UTC)
Sounds good. I usually have two waffles for breakfast and a small lunch - a sandwich or a cup of soup, unless I want to treat myself (once a week, most of the time). Dinner varies. When I do go to the gym, it's after dinner...unless I can manage it on a weekend. --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 18:57, 20 December 2011 (UTC)
I'll try to work on them between bouts of wrapping tonight. --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 19:06, 20 December 2011 (UTC)
Yes, but not as different as on my two-monitors-at-once setup at the office. :-) --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 22:16, 20 December 2011 (UTC)
Yep. I don't know why they gave us two, but I'm not complaining - it's really quite a useful setup. I can toggle between screens instead of between windows on one screen. --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 22:21, 20 December 2011 (UTC)
Nope - everything's fine with my setup, so far as I can see. --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 22:29, 20 December 2011 (UTC)
Sure - I'll work on it tonight. --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 14:46, 22 December 2011 (UTC)
I know what you mean. I changed screen resolution on one of my screens yesterday - if you can imagine, I had two screens with different resolutions for months. I'm still getting used to seeing things at the smaller resolution, though I quite like it. --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 14:53, 22 December 2011 (UTC)
Yeah, well I still have my old college machine at home. Going on seven, eight years now...but it's a great little model. I'm quite pleased with it. The resolution's a bit larger, though, so my folks don't have to squint to use it. :-) --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 15:23, 22 December 2011 (UTC)

Films

[edit]

Hi Dr. Blofeld,

I read your warning and can assure you I don't intend to complain or be negative. Also, I don't want you to think that nominating the articles you created for deletion is a personal attack on you. I know that you have created several substantial articles on Wikipedia. The reason I nominated them is because they seem like small films that have not been covered much in the media and nowhere in the articles was information provided that established notability, nor were there sources to verify notability. I noticed that you have started working on at least one of them since it was nominated by adding a reference. If you can provide enough content and sourcing to show that they are notable, then I will agree that they do not deserve to be deleted. If I am to create an article, I always feel it is best to make it look as good as I possibly can and add in as many reliable sources as I can using a sandbox before I make it an article. I'm not telling you how you should do things, only offering a suggestion that may help to prevent this issue in the future. Anyways, have a good day and Happy Holidays! While acknowledging your numerous contributions, I have a request to make. When creating articles for settlements outside the United States/United Kingdom, would you please try not to specify "unit_pref = Imperial" in {{Infobox settlement}}? Hi Dr. Blofeld,

I stumbled acroos the use of a ship (Duda Lasø) I have sailed with in Greenland, which you added in this edit. (The photo is also taken by me). In the caption it was stated it is a fishing vessel. However, it is not a fishing vessel, but a privately owned boat used mainly for the transportation of people and goods between towns and settlements in North-West Greenland. At least that is how it was used in 2007, when I saw it. It is a boat from the 1960s, which was originally used as a police cutter. I have therefore taken the liberty to remove it from the article as i found its use misleading. Best wishes from Denmark, --Slaunger (talk) 17:53, 22 December 2011 (UTC)

You are fast! I noticed you had already found a replacement image! I may actually have more fishing related stuff from Greenland in my image repository, which I could upload. Like shrimp cutters at the west coast subjected to inspection from a naval ship, and small fishing boats in action in Greenland. --Slaunger (talk) 18:00, 22 December 2011 (UTC)

Liebfrauenkirche Halle

You started that one with 413 chars prose, if you want credit I will give you, I didn't take any other than the nomination (only for the cantata), but Taksen and Bermicourt who worked miracles, if you ask me, --Gerda Arendt (talk) 15:37, 26 December 2011 (UTC)

I had thought of this, the church is at more than 11k chars now, --Gerda Arendt (talk) 16:06, 26 December 2011 (UTC)
I nominated Rademann as stated on his talk which you probably watch. (I had done the same for the church, no secret.) --Gerda Arendt (talk) 23:41, 26 December 2011 (UTC)
Watch people's talk pages to your liking but for my DYK noms watch the articles' talk, Rademann, Liebfrauenkirche (it was there but removed when it appeared), if I don't forget I place noms there for everybody to see and draw conclusions. Working on the Kammerchor, maybe another DYK eventually but at least filled a lot of red links, mostly for the German name, so I took that one. I heard Rademann with the RIAS in Eberbach, but that was already on DYK in 2010, --Gerda Arendt (talk) 15:13, 27 December 2011 (UTC)
I used bach cantatas and will use a few more recordings, nominated already (forgot the talk, smile) - there are more red links now,of course, Anna Prohaska ... --Gerda Arendt (talk) 17:37, 27 December 2011 (UTC)
Marius van Altena has DYK potential. Now or later? (If later I should not add too much now.) --Gerda Arendt (talk) 13:42, 30 December 2011 (UTC)
I will look at him after the next Bach cantata, rather soon that is. Thanks for fixing ALL red links but one on today's cantata. The last one would be helpful, because he needs a disamb every time, Peter Harvey (bass) or Peter Harvey (baritone), he has a German article, de:Peter Harvey calling him baritone, but that word was not used in Bach's time, and bass is shorter. Once he has an article (whichever) a redirect can work, but not before. - I looked at his website: it says baritone, suggest to take that, --Gerda Arendt (talk) 17:52, 1 January 2012 (UTC)

Stoke Edith House is reasonably expanded. I may have mentioned I'm a bibliophile and to that end, I picked up some interesting (old) books from an antique store in town yesterday. Looking at them closer, one is an 1855 leather-bound Y Traethodydd, the first half in Welsh-language, and the second half in English. --Rosiestep (talk) 22:09, 31 December 2011 (UTC)

I would love to work on articles on Roman times in southern Wales; where to start? The English language part of the book states it's a translation of the Welsh part that precedes it. But from the looks of the the chapter titles ("Providence in the moral order of things", "The spirituality of the soul", "Natural law", "Free will", etc.) I can't see the start of an article. --Rosiestep (talk) 01:27, 2 January 2012 (UTC)

As you see, there's only one image on the article in which she is old. It annoys me that the Diane Keaton article has many others, and there should be others in her career where her much-discussed beauty and sex-appeal are seen. What do you think? ShahidTalk2me 21:58, 31 December 2011 (UTC)

Happy new year, man! I think I'll start removing red links from her filmo later today. ShahidTalk2me 13:18, 1 January 2012 (UTC)
Yeh, I started with Dimple because it is much easier (as compared to Rekha of course, not by itself), because she's had fewer films (imagine Re has worked in almost 200 film), and had several periods of inactivity, in addition to being much more simple to write about as an artist. Rekha has one giant personality, many films, huge media interest regarding her personal life and transformation from the ugly duckling to a beautiful, mature actress, so it's obviously one hell of a career to write chronicle. I couldn't believe I'd be able to expand the Dimple article so much cause most of her work was in the 1990s, but I'm happy with the results. I'd be happy if you could at this point help me remove red links from Dimple's filmography. Rekha's filmography has much more films in need of wikiarticles. ShahidTalk2me 15:06, 1 January 2012 (UTC)
Thank you so much, I didn't notice that - thanks. ShahidTalk2me 15:25, 1 January 2012 (UTC)
