Information icon Hello, I'm UncleBubba. I noticed that you added or changed content in an article, Watergate scandal, but you didn't provide a reliable source. It's been removed and archived in the page history for now, but if you'd like to include a citation and re-add it, please do so. You can have a look at the tutorial on citing sources. If you think I made a mistake, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Changing the date is not a good idea. The accompanying article discusses 1971 as the date The Plumbers were formed, for example, and cited sources on this page corroborate the 1971 start date. — UncleBubba T @ C ) 23:04, 11 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Welcome to Wikipedia. We appreciate your contributions, but in one of your recent edits to Gavin Newsom, it appears that you have added original research, which is against Wikipedia's policies. Original research refers to material—such as facts, allegations, ideas, and personal experiences—for which no reliable, published sources exist; it also encompasses combining published sources in a way to imply something that none of them explicitly say. Please be prepared to cite a reliable source for all of your contributions. You can have a look at the tutorial on citing sources. Thank you. Love of Corey (talk) 05:20, 8 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for uploading File:1988 DNC Photo for Dukakis.png. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the page from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of the website's terms of use of its content. If the original copyright holder is a party unaffiliated with the website, that author should also be credited. Please add this information by editing the image description page.

If the necessary information is not added within the next seven days, the image will be deleted. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem.

2024 Primary Candidates

[edit]

I don’t understand why Vivek Ramaswamy isn’t considered a major candidate when he meets the stated threshold of receiving substantial media coverage. He announced on Tucker Carlson Tonight which is the highest rated cable news show in the country, with his announcement being covered by literally every single major media outlet including CNN, WaPo, NYT, WSJ, Bloomberg, Axios, and a Fox News article declaring him the third major candidate in the GOP primary. I’m not a supporter of Vivek nor am I even close to being a Republican but as a political junkie it’s obvious that Vivek is a major candidate and not labeling him as such until he’s included in five national polls is just a silly moving of the goalpost. It’s especially silly when you realize you’re setting a higher bar for legitimacy than the Republican Party who nominated someone whose only “experience” for the presidency was in the private sector and on the NBC Tuesday night primetime block. I hope you and the Barons of Wikipedia reconsider just for the sake of my OCD. 🙏 2601:18D:C180:7D20:AD37:7D7A:12FD:3760 (talk) 06:17, 23 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon An article you recently created, Marianne Williamson 2024 presidential campaign, is not suitable as written to remain published. An article needs more information and citations from reliable, independent sources to remain in the mainspace. Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline, has suitable content and thus is ready for mainspace, click the Submit the draft for review! button atop the article. re Delaware, Wolf succeeding Castle

[edit]

Do you have a source for this? The linked source specifically says, Castle resigned at midnight yesterday (so, Jan 3), and notes at the end that the state was "without a governor" for 14 hours, not 4 days. I don't want to just revert out of hand but we need a source; it's entirely possible the one I got is wrong. Thanks. --Golbez (talk) 03:31, 27 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, I have found a source from Wolf's Wikipedia page that backs up the claim that Castle resigned on December 31st 1992
Dale Wolf, Delaware's 3-week governor, dies at 96 (delawareonline.com) "He assumed the governorship in 1992 when Castle stepped down after being elected to Congress" HistorianL (talk) 03:52, 27 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
That's not a source for this, it doesn't say Castle resigned on December 31, 1992. Furthermore, it contradicts the edit you made, since you (correctly) pointed out that Wolf wasn't sworn in in 1992. --Golbez (talk) 04:48, 27 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Please stop capitalizing "Official portrait", and don't add {{circa}} to known specific dates. Nikkimaria (talk) 02:00, 4 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Okay, by this logic, does that mean it was correct to add {{circa}} to Henry A. Wallace since the photo is presumed to be taken during his presidency, but there is no official date for the photograph, hence it being released {{circa}} the 1940s. (Not trying to be rude by any means; just trying to clarify what you mean by this.) ~ HistorianL (talk) 02:10, 4 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

As I explained in the last edit I made to the article - I am not a mind reader. If you're going to remove a ref from the article - which is what was done, and it destabilized the ref code that existed - then you need to say why, please. Many will assume, as I did, that simply removing a reference is vandalism. So please make a note when you make your edit of why you're making a change.

When you closed the discussion, you forgot to add Template:Discussion bottom to the bottom of the thread, which caused the closure box to flow into the threads that followed (see this revision). Also, based on the invisible comment left behind, I presume you substituted the Template:Discussion top instead of transcluding it. That was unnecessary, transclusion would've worked fine here.

I should finally note that you closing the discussion yourself violated WP:NACINV, since you participated in the discussion and the circumstances didn't seem uncontentious. However, WP:NOCON would've defaulted to the status quo anyway, so I'm not going to challenge your closure. Please keep this in mind for the future though.
