Hello, I'm Bagumba. Your recent edit to the page Ichiro Suzuki appears to have added premature information about a reported sports transaction, so it has been removed for now. The transaction is based on anonymous sources and/or awaiting an official announcement. If you believe the transaction has been completed, please cite a reliable source or discuss your change on the article's talk page. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. —Bagumba (talk) 11:18, 6 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, I'm Oshwah. I noticed that you made a change to an article, Nate Freiman, but you didn't provide a source. I’ve removed it for now, but if you’d like to include a citation to a reliable source and re-add it, please do so! Information icon Please do not remove content or templates from pages on Wikipedia, as you did to Richard Bleier, without giving a valid reason for the removal in the edit summary. Your content removal does not appear to be constructive and has been reverted. If you only meant to make a test edit, please use the sandbox for that. In particular, you deleted the references. You can't just copy and paste the displayed text of the article if you're going to move sections. You have to copy and paste the code, which includes the formatting and references.C.Fred (talk) 16:30, 1 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Please stop your disruptive editing.

If you continue to disrupt Wikipedia, as you did at Baltimore Orioles minor league players, you may be blocked from editing. The MOS is clear: we should not have one-sentence sections in articles. Further, the way you've laid it out, you're implying that Baltimore Orioles is a player in the Orioles' minor-league system.C.Fred (talk) 17:17, 1 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Section size

[edit]

Hi. Regarding the edits you are making to make more sections in articles, please mind MOS:LAYOUT's guidance. Per Wikipedia:Manual_of_Style/Layout#Headings_and_sections, "Very short or very long sections and subsections in an article look cluttered and inhibit the flow of the prose. Short paragraphs and single sentences generally do not warrant their own subheading." Sections are best when they are about three or four paragraphs long. – Muboshgu (talk) 16:50, 2 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Please respond. Many of your edits are being reverted, and this is not an efficient use of time and effort on your part or those of us who are undoing your edits. – Muboshgu (talk) 18:21, 2 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Guillermo Quiróz, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Coach (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

ArbCom 2018 election voter message

[edit]

Hello, Stonecold415. Voting in the 2018 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23.59 on Sunday, 3 December. All users who registered an account before Sunday, 28 October 2018, made at least 150 mainspace edits before Thursday, 1 November 2018 and are not currently blocked are eligible to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2018 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 18:42, 19 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

The Britton agreement, if there indeed is one, is not completed. Do not change the article to say he's a Yankee without a reliable source that is clear that it is official (i.e., doesn't say "according to reports" or "pending a physical"). – Muboshgu (talk) 20:41, 6 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Please stop adding premature information, as you did at Sonny Gray. When there has been an official announcement from the team, please add a reliable source indicating this. [edit]

Hi - I've noticed many of your edits recently as I update player pages for independent leagues (e.g. Atlantic League) and foreign leagues (e.g. Mexican League). While I'm glad that you have added information to make many pages more accurate, the formatting you are using for headings and subheadings does not follow Wikipedia guidelines. Per MOS:SECTIONCAPS, all section headings should use Sentence case, not title case. This means that the letter of the first word should be capitalized, but the rest should be lower case - except for the team name. An example would be 'Second stint with _____________ (team)' instead of 'Second Stint With _____ (team) as you have been doing.

I'd recommend checking out MOS:CAPS as a reference if you want further information. In the meantime, please stop formatting sections in this manner - it is already going to require a lot of work to correct all of the pages that you had modified.

  • There are really nothing but warnings and notes on this talk page; you didn't contribute to the ANI thread where your edits were questioned. Magnolia677 and Nil_Einne had serious doubts there about your, eh, willingness to contribute to a collaborative project, and since then I think the only difference is that you are now sticking bare URLs to game recaps in your edits--but that is not really an improvement. I am inclined to block your account, unless you start a. explaining, in edit summaries, what you are doing; b. give proper references and use the existing reference formatting; and c. start communicating with other editors. Profootballrumors.com

[edit]

Hey I wanted to give you a heads up, try to refrain from using the website Profootballrumors.com. Just purely on name alone (we don't discuss rumors per WP:CRYSTAL), there's reliability questions, not to mention it's a site independent from any major news source, which makes it fall under WP:SELFPUB which means the creators would have to be considered known experts for it to be reliable and it doesn't appear the people responsible for the website qualify as known experts.--Rockchalk717 22:40, 14 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Not to mention, you should probably avoid the website's sister sites as well for the same reason.--Rockchalk717 22:43, 14 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

American Association 2021 season

[edit]

Hey, StoneCold,

I was wondering if you would be interested in creating a Wikipedia page for the 2021 American Association season? I don’t know if it breaks Wikipedia guidelines about baseball since it is an independent league. But I thought it could be neat to do pages for the current season and future ones. Problem is I don’t know how to create a page so, I wanted to ask if you would be interested. ParkerLyme (talk) 15:25, 16 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

That sounds like a very fun project. I’ll see what I can do about it, I’ve never tried to create a season page before either. Stonecold415 (talk) 16:18, 16 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Daniel Camarena requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G4 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be a repost of material that was previously deleted following a deletion discussion, at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Daniel Camarena. When a page has substantially identical content to that of a page deleted after a discussion, and any changes in the content do not address the reasons for which the material was previously deleted, it may be deleted at any time.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Pro Football Rumors

[edit]

Could you please use more reliable sources? This website literally has rumor in its title. ~ Dissident93 (talk) 10:34, 24 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Stonecold415: please stop using MLB Trade Rumors and tweets from reporters as well. You've been warned about this in the past and it really isn't that hard to just find a reliable source if you search the player's name. Best, GPL93 (talk) 11:39, 24 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

If you actually check the site, it is reliable, not just rumors. It includes trade rumors and other news but any transaction or signing that is reported always ends up being correct. Much easier to use this site and it comes out with news faster than a lot of other sites as well. Stonecold415 (talk) 15:29, 24 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

July 2021

[edit]

You are blocked for 6 months. I almost went with indefinite. Next time it probably will be. I don't what the disconnect is here. Multiple experienced editors and admin have explained that you can't be using these unreliable rumor websites. And yet you persist. Sergecross73 msg me 14:55, 24 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Really makes no sense why these websites are considered unreliable. It has rumor in the name only because it includes rumors, and all transactions reported are true and reflect on other later reports. I have seen many more experienced editors use and cite the site as well. Stonecold415 (talk) 15:33, 24 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

The correct response in this situation would have been to start a discussion and see if you can get a WP:CONSENSUS supporting it's use. The wrong response would be to ignore everyone telling you it's unreliable and just keep doing it anyways, as you've done for quite some time now. Sergecross73 msg me 18:36, 24 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I'm late on this, but why only use this site when there are clearly more credible options? And just because others are using it too doesn't make it any more reliable. ~ Dissident93 (talk) 09:19, 25 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I used the site because it comes out with news earlier with other sites. Additionally it’s no less credible then any other sources, but obviously the “rumors” part in the name arose problems so if I am unbanned or whenever I am able to edit next I will try to use better sources or just find a way to make the site a credible source. Stonecold415 (talk) 16:06, 25 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

It's not just rumors in the title that is the issue. I explained to you previously that by Wikipedia's definition of reliable sources it's not considered reliable. Additionally, it's an independent website separate from any known reliable sources (ESPN, NFL Media, any major newspaper etc) because of this it falls under WP:SELFPUB which means that the contributors must be known experts, which means they have to be well known journalists in this instance, which they are not. It does appear they do get most of their reports correct, but until they fit Wikipedia's definition of a reliable source, they shouldn't be used as a source. I'm happy you plan to stop using them, but I also want to make sure you fully understand the why behind not being able to use it.--Rockchalk717 17:29, 25 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Ah, that makes more sense. I should take some time to actually read over the definition of reliable source because I think I was going off of what I thought was a reliable source rather than what wikipedia says. After I do that hopefully I won’t make more errant edits. Stonecold415 (talk) 18:15, 25 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Exactly. Try to stick to the major sports websites and major newspapers and you'll be good, even then just remember that we don't update for a transaction until the team makes the official announcement or the transaction appears on the transaction wire. If you ever need help don't be afraid to reach out to one of us or make a post at WT:NFL.--Rockchalk717 20:08, 25 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Your timely contributions are in good faith and are appreciated (even if they have to be replaced with better sources), but you most likely would have avoided being blocked again if you had taken the time to respond months ago. And just as a general rule, any website that includes "Rumor" in its title is most likely not going to be the most credible of sources. Especially when NFL.com, ESPN.com, SI.com, or the team's website would have reported on the signing at the same time. ~ Dissident93 (talk) 07:08, 26 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Stonecold415 (block logactive blocksglobal blockscontribsdeleted contribsfilter logcreation logchange block settingsunblockcheckuser (log))

Request reason:

Hello. Today, I (Stonecold415) am requesting to be unblocked from Wikipedia. I was previously blocked for errant edits, and then indefinitely on suspicion of sockpuppetry. I have some reasons as to why it should be reversed. To start, I have thoroughly reviewed the Wikipedia guidelines, and understand why I was blocked, and what I can do to make reliable, effective edits while staying within the rules set in place. I acknowledge that TradeRumors is not a reliable source and will focus on finding better, more reliable sources to source on pages. Next, in May 2022, my roommate requested that I edit for them, to which I obliged. I was later blocked on that account on 5 May, and was requested to avoid editing for six months (until 4 November 2022) by user Eagles247. I have not edited anything on Wikipedia since that day. Additionally, I have discovered that editing on someone else's account is against policy, and understand why I was blocked. From now on, I know I will only edit on my own account. I currently live alone, and have no alternate accounts that are accessible to me. To restate, I will no longer errantly use unreliable sources, and will only edit on this account that belongs to me. Eagles247 had noted that I might have a good chance to be unblocked if I followed his requests (and I have read through the Standard Offer), so I am cordially requesting to be unblocked, so I can receive a new start, to start a new year. :) Stonecold415 (talk) 4:21 pm, Yesterday (UTC−6)

Accept reason:

I am accepting to unblock on the basis of this request, noting time passed and the absence of evidence of further evasion. signed, Rosguill talk 22:18, 1 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

This time, no recent evidence of block evasion based on checkuser data. As I've previously declined, I'll leave the review for another user. --Yamla (talk) 22:45, 31 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Robert Neustrom moved to draftspace

[edit]

An article you recently created, Robert Neustrom, is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more in-depth coverage about the subject itself, with citations from reliable, independent sources in order to show it meets WP:GNG. It should have at least three, to be safe. And please remember that interviews, as primary sources, do not count towards GNG, and neither does routine sports coverage.(?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. August 2023

[edit]

Information icon Hi, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you tried to give a page a different title by copying its content and pasting either the same content, or an edited version of it, into Jacob Young (baseball). This is known as a "cut-and-paste move", and it is undesirable because it splits the page history, which is legally required for attribution. Instead, the software used by Wikipedia has a feature that allows pages to be moved to a new title together with their edit history.

In most cases for registered users, once your account is four days old and has ten edits, you should be able to move an article yourself using the "Move" tab at the top of the page (the tab may be hidden in a dropdown menu for you). This both preserves the page history intact and automatically creates a redirect from the old title to the new. If you cannot perform a particular page move yourself this way (e.g. because a page already exists at the target title), please follow the instructions at requested moves to have it moved by someone else. Also, if there are any other pages that you moved by copying and pasting, even if it was a long time ago, please list them at Wikipedia:Requests for history merge. Thank you. Liz Read! Talk! 20:18, 26 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Stonecold415,
Next time if you object to a draftification, please just move the article back to main space. Exact dates on transactions

[edit]

First off keep up the great work. You are one of the best editors we've had here at keeping on top of all MLB transactions. Just one critique, adding the exact date on procedural transactions such as when a player elects free agency or as added to the 40 man roster is unnecessary. These are set deadline dates that happen around the same time every year. So the exact date is truly is irrelevant. Yankees10 17:27, 18 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the heads up, I still intend to add them for new transactions if that’s okay, but I will do my best to pare down changing them on old pages. Thank you and take care. Stonecold415 (talk) 18:00, 18 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Why do you still add the exact date of 40 man additions? It's literally like November 20 every year. It's not notable, necessary or relevant.-- Yankees10 01:29, 22 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

For a third time can you please stop with the 40 man roster exact date. It's literally the exact same time each year.-- Yankees10 00:05, 21 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I feel as if it does no harm when being added to pages where that transaction is not already noted. Additionally, it was the additions were on November 19, not the 20th this year, showing the difference in dates. I will do my best to not change it on pages where it is already there, sorry for the inconvenience. Stonecold415 (talk) 00:08, 21 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

In use

[edit]

Respect the "in use" template please. I literally was in the middle of Teodosio. Yankees10 20:22, 7 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

sorry for the misunderstanding. i filled it in without looking and that was my bad. it had been untouched for several minutes so I went ahead and next time i know to wait. sorry again Stonecold415 (talk) 20:26, 7 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
It's ok. It was untouched because It takes me about 10 minutes or so to finish an article with sources and categories and such.-- Yankees10 20:30, 7 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Okay, I will be more patient in the future. Sorry again, I didn't mean to disrespect you. Stonecold415 (talk) 20:31, 7 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
