A tag has been placed on File:Newell Bridge.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F9 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image appears to be a blatant copyright infringement. Doing so will take you to the talk page where you can explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. File copyright problem with File:Grant Goodeve.JPG
Thank you for uploading File:Grant Goodeve.JPG. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright and licensing status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can verify that it has an acceptable license status and a verifiable source. Please add this information by editing the image description page. You may refer to the image use policy to learn what files you can or cannot upload on Wikipedia. The page on copyright tags may help you to find the correct tag to use for your file. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem.
Please also check any other files you may have uploaded to make sure they are correctly tagged. Here is a list of your uploads.

Thanks for uploading File:Adam szabo.jpg. I noticed that this file is being used under a claim of fair use. However, I think that the way it is being used fails the first non-free content criterion. This criterion states that files used under claims of fair use may have no free equivalent; in other words, if the file could be adequately covered by a freely-licensed file or by text alone, then it may not be used on Wikipedia. If you believe this file is not replaceable, please:
Go to the file description page and add the text below the original replaceable fair use template, replacing <your reason> with a short explanation of why the file is not replaceable.
On the file discussion page, write a full explanation of why you believe the file is not replaceable.
If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these media fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per the non-free content policy. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Stefan2 (talk) 15:18, 11 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Järjestyshäiriö requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a band or musician, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Thank you for your contributions. Please mark your edits as "minor" only if they are minor edits. Thank you for your recent articles, including Janina Niedźwiecka, which I read with interest. When you create a new article, can you add the WikiProject assessment templates to the talk of that article? See the talk page of the article I mentioned for an example of what I mean. Usually it is very simple, you just add something like WikiProject Keyword to the article's talk, with keyword replaced by the associated WikiProject (ex. if it's a biography article, you would use WikiProject Biography; if it's a United States article, you would use WikiProject United States, and so on). You do not have to rate the article if you do not want to, others will do it eventually. Those templates are very useful, as they bring the articles to a WikiProject attention, and allow them to start tracking the articles through Wikipedia:Article alerts and other tools. For example, WikiProject Poland relies on such templates to generate listings such as Article Alerts, Popular Pages, Quality and Importance Matrix and the Cleanup Listing. Thanks to them, WikiProject members are more easily able to defend your work from deletion, or simply help try to improve it further. Feel free to ask me any questions if you'd like more information about using those talk page templates. Also, please don't forget about the stub templates. I replaced the speedy tag, since the Polish article shows that the actor is notable. However, it should still have the notability established in the English page. That's why I put a standard proposed deletion instead. — Sebastian08:13, 1 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for correcting the year of Dave Benton's win at the Eurovision Contest; 2002 was not the correct year. I have removed the David Beneton entry from List of African-American firsts, and I thought I should try to explain why. As mentioned in the lede, "breaking the color barrier" in the U.S. is the "shorthand" requirement for items in this list. And only the first event of a nationwide TV musical contest in the U.S. won by an African American would have a place on this list (not entries for a win on the American Idol win and for a win on The Voice). Europe has a different set of barriers to fairness and justice that could generate a separate list. — Neonorange (talk) 00:30, 6 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Hello, PootisHeavy. Thanks for stopping by to add the source languages to the list at WP:PNT#pages created by PootisHeavy and for fixing the ones I got wrong. :-) It would be helpful if you could add a Babel template to your user page, for example (see my page for an example of how they render) but it's your page so you don't have to, of course. Proper names stay in the original language for the most part, theater names, film names (unless released in English) etc.
Replace red links with ill template pointing to the original de, pl, or whatever article
You can see examples of both of these at the article Wendy Delorme. Adding the translated template can be a little tricky the first time if you haven't done it before, as far as finding the version and the insertversion parameters, but the template documentation explains it well, and after you do it the first time, it's easy.
Another thing which would be helpful, is to add a See also section, just after the References section, with a couple of links to related articles that are not already linked in the article body. Details at WP:SEEALSO. Again, see Wendy Delorme for an example; note that all the links are about useful, related articles, but they are not in the article itself. I've reviewed all 59 of your articles which were in the new pages backlog. They should now therefore show up in search engines.
The majority of them need more sources which is amplified as they are BLPs. Therefore, I have added maintenance tags improve and increase the number of sources. There are some other issues with some of the articles. If you can have a look over them and rectify these issues that would be much appreciated.

Under the specified criteria, where a page has substantially identical content to that of a page deleted after debate, and any changes in the content do not address the reasons for which the material was previously deleted, it may be deleted at any time.

Hi @PootisHeavy:, I have some concerns about some of your 65 translations currently listed at WP:PNT, mostly from German originals, but also from cs, hu, pl, and nl. It looks to me like in at least some cases, you are dropping lightly copyedited Google translations into new articles on English Wikipedia. This can be problematic; please see WP:MACHINETRANSLATION for why Google translate should not be used for articles in English Wikipedia.
Most recently, I'm thinking about the Hans Hermann Adler article. There were some mistranslations there that are troubling, including some basic errors of understanding, such as calling Adler a "scientist" when in fact he's a journalist, or using expressions in English like "Newspaper Science" which is a word-for-word translation of a German compound which of course in English is "journalism" (or "study of journalism"), or mistaking capitalized words as proper nouns, when in fact they are just simple nouns. There are quite a few other cases like that, including the non-existent word ("Lehrauptrag") which exactly matches Google's output for the German original.
Can you please share what your translation methodology is for the articles you are translating? How would you rate your German comprehension and your ability to understand written German and translate it? If you do have sufficient skill in German, then you are going way too fast, and leaving glaring errors in articles in Main namespace where people can read them; maybe you should use Draft space instead until you've had the time to get them into shape. If you do not have sufficient skill in German (or nl, cs, pl, and hu) then perhaps you shouldn't be translating articles. Mathglot (talk) 10:02, 23 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]
I see that you have removed the Prods on these articles. What is your level of reading knowledge of written German and French? Note that you may use the Babel template which adds user boxes to your user page indicating your fluency in each language.

Your recent article submission to Articles for Creation has been reviewed! Unfortunately, it has not been accepted at this time. The reason left by Winged Blades of Godric was:
This submission's references do not adequately show the subject's notability. Wikipedia requires significant coverage (not just mere mentions) about the subject in published, reliable, secondary sources that are independent of the subject—see the guidelines on the notability of people, the golden rule and learn about mistakes to avoid when addressing this issue. Please improve the submission's referencing (see Wikipedia:Referencing for beginners and Help:Introduction to referencing/1), so that the information is verifiable, and there is clear evidence of why the subject is notable and worthy of inclusion in an encyclopedia. If additional reliable sources cannot be found for the subject, then it may not be suitable for Wikipedia at this time.
Please check the submission for any additional comments left by the reviewer. You are encouraged to edit the submission to address the issues raised and resubmit when they have been resolved.

Regarding your creation of Voldemar Lender, Wikipedia's licensing requires that attribution be given to all users involved in creating and altering the content of a page. ... Because of this, copying content from another page within Wikipedia requires supplementary attribution to indicate it. At minimum, this means providing an edit summary at the destination page – that is, the page into which the material is copied – stating that content was copied, together with a link to the source (copied-from) page. Please note that this is not a policy or guideline, this is a licensing requirement. @Diannaa: Neither the talk page nor the edit summaries provide this required attribution. Since this page is an obvious copy of the original Estonian article, this requirement applies to this page.
In addition, this page appears to be a machine translation from Estonian. The Wikipedia consensus is that a machine translation is worse than nothing. Please do not contribute articles to Wikpedia based on automatic translations of articles in languages with which you have no familiarity. (See below, as well.) Thank you for your contributions. Please mark your edits as "minor" only if they are minor edits. In accordance with Help:Minor edit, a minor edit is one that the editor believes requires no review and could never be the subject of a dispute. Minor edits consist of things such as typographical corrections, formatting changes or rearrangement of text without modification of content. Additionally, the reversion of clear-cut vandalism and test edits may be labeled "minor". Thank you. —Wasell(T)13:46, 8 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for creating several articles on women and their works over the past few weeks. We have become aware of your contributions thanks to research undertaken by Bobo.03 at the University of Minnesota. We think you might be interested in becoming a member of our WikiProject Women in Red where we are actively trying to reduce Wikipedia's content gender gap. You can join by using the box at the top of the WiR page. But if you would like to receive news of our activities without becoming a member, you can simply add your name to our mailing list. In any case, thank you for actively contributing to the coverage of women (currently, 17.63% of English Wikipedia's biographies).
Hi, I'm Nick Moyes. PootisHeavy, thanks for creating Tõnis Kõiv!
I've just tagged the page, using our page curation tools, as having some issues to fix. On English Wikipedia you need to use the sources you have placed in External Links and put them in a References section instead. You must create references to this living person which support each statement as an inline reference. See WP:REFBEGIN
The tags can be removed by you or another editor once the issues they mention are addressed. If you have questions, you can leave a comment on my talk page. Or, for more editing help, talk to the volunteers at the Teahouse.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Albert Taar, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G4 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be a repost of material that was previously deleted following a deletion discussion, such as at Articles for deletion. When a page has substantially identical content to that of a page deleted after a discussion, and any changes in the content do not address the reasons for which the material was previously deleted, it may be deleted at any time.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, group, product, service, person, or point of view and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.

Hello, PootisHeavy. I wanted to let you know that I’m proposing an article that you started, Iceland in the Eurovision Song Contest 2019, for deletion because I don't think it meets our criteria for inclusion. If you don't want the article deleted:
remove the text that looks like this:
save the page
Also, be sure to explain why you think the article should be kept in your edit summary or on the article's talk page. If you don't do so, it may be deleted later anyway.
You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions.

In accordance with our policy that Wikipedia is not for the indefinite hosting of material deemed unsuitable for the encyclopedia mainspace, the draft has been nominated for deletion. If you plan on working on it further, or editing it to address the issues raised if it was declined, simply edit the submission and remove the db-afc, db-draft, or db-g13 code.
If your submission has already been deleted by the time you get there, and you wish to retrieve it, you can request its undeletion by following the instructions at this link. An administrator will, in most cases, restore the submission so you can continue to work on it.

Hello! Thank you for creating the Tadakiyo Sakai article! It appears this article may be a translation of the Portuguese-language article. Translation work is important to Wikipedia, especially when trying to increase awareness of individuals outside of the English-speaking world. When you translate a page, please include something akin to the following text, which allows individuals to see the appropriate article history:
Content in this edit is translated from the existing French Wikipedia article at :fr:Exact name of French article; see its history for attribution.
@Significa liberdade:, thanks for noting this, and especially the part about the required translation attribution. On the other hand, PootisHeavy is not likely to modify his behavior, and you aren't likely to get a response from him, either. PootisHeavy's modus operandi is to create articles on English Wikipedia using automatic translation from Wikipedias in any of 25 or more languages he doesn't know without providing attribution to the original article. This has been going on for many years. Here are their last few article creations, and they all continue to exhibit this same pattern:
Otoh, there doesn't seem to be any point issuing warnings here, as to my knowledge PootisHeavy has only ever responded once to a comment placed here (back in 2016). Pinging Diannaa for assistance. There are now many hundreds of translated articles created by this user that are missing required attribution. Mathglot (talk) 01:34, 24 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Hello Mathglot,
I should mention to this that I am proficient in Portuguese. I am of Brazilian background and the recent string of articles I have made were made with little in the way of using a translator. I understand what you are saying with regards to the automatic translations that I made in years past, and that pattern has mostly been a thing of the past, but with the articles translated from Portuguese, I did not use automatic translation to create articles. I only respond to this because the tone with which this message was made was, in my opinion, quite condescending and indicative that you see me as an issue versus a contributor. I am not here to start arguments or act like I am entirely in the right, but I would rather not be painted as someone who is causing a huge ruckus on the platform. I have been contributing to this website for over a decade. Thank you and have a good day.
No worries. I don't usually respond to much here, but I will try to keep this in mind with other articles. I mentioned my proficiency in the language for the record because, while there is credence to what Mathglot mentioned over the years and yes, that in retrospect was certainly an issue, that has not been the case recently and I have moved away from that pattern of creating articles. I hope I do not come off as combative or frustrated, but some of the language that was used by them was not necessarily conducive to productive dialogue either, I feel. Again, I will try to keep this in mind. My apologies for the inconvenience to everyone.
(edit conflict) The fact that you have responded now is an improvement over the past, and I hope is a good sign of your intention to change going forward. And if your use of MT is now a thing of the past, that is all to the good. The message by Significa liberdade above was not about your translations directly, but about your failure to include required attribution of translations. That is not something from the distant past, you're still doing it now, as shown in the handful of articles listed above. Pointing out how you never have adjusted your behavior about required attributions before, even when told repeatedly to do so is not condescescion, it's a description of current reality. Maybe this time is different. I'm hopeful that your response above is an indication that you've now turned the corner on this. If you want to show that you're on board now, all you have to do is go back into those articles and add the missing required translation attribution, and going forward, ensure that the attribution is is included along with the original edit summary when you create the article. Thanks, Mathglot (talk) 03:11, 24 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I was responding to the message you had sent to me in regards to the previous use of machine translation, which was not the case with the articles from the past few days, and in the past year or two, in Portuguese, not to what Significa liberdade had said. I would argue some of the language that you used was based on previous assumption based on past behavior and not indicative of the current reality, such as with the claim that I do not have familiarity with Portuguese, one of the languages you said I did not have any familiarity or knowledge of and the language of the articles you and OP mentioned. This is not true. That was a significant chunk of your response. That I am "unlikely to modify my behavior", in response to what someone else said on my talkpage mind you, was also not something I would take too kindly too, with the implication again that I am doing more harm to the platform than contributing through the creation of articles. You said directly that it was something that is worthy enough to alert an admin of and potentially have me sanctioned for. I will stand by my point that what you wrote in the initial response had some level of condescending language and were based in part on assumptions that were simply not true.
That being said, in due time I will go back and add the attribution (which the interlanguage connection to other Wikipedias that I routinely add to each new article should help in part). Like I mentioned in the response, there is some credence to what you mentioned in the first message with regards to machine translation and I have taken steps to correct that. I do not want to argue or be belligerent like this to anyone, and I want to continue contributing to the platform without issue. I want the articles I create to be up to par with standards and I think for the most part I do so. Like I said, however, I don't think accusatory language would do anyone a favor. I am just wanting to contribute just like anyone else.
Hello PootisHeavy. The attribution is important, because it is required by the terms of our CC-by-SA license and Wikipedia's terms of use. In addition to retroactively adding the required attribution via edit summary as described at WP:RIA, there's a template you can place on the talk page of each translated article: translated page. The template is optional; the attribution via edit summary is mandatory. Thanks. — Diannaa (talk) 11:52, 24 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Hi, Pootis! I just wanted to come here and thank you for including the attribution on the new pages you have created! Everyone at Wikipedia is regularly learning. Thank you so much for putting in the effort to translate pages from Brazilian Portuguese! Best wishes, Significa liberdade (talk) 16:18, 27 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Likewise; keep up the good work. Because of your knowledge of Portuguese, you have the right to place a Babel userbox on your user page. They run from User pt-1 (beginner) to User pt-5 (pro) and User pt-N (native). Best, Mathglot (talk) 17:18, 27 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I've noticed your use of translation attribution on recent edits; thanks for that. Just one clarification: there are different attribution statements for attributing your current edit, vs. repairing insufficient attribution because you forgot to include it in some previous edit in the past. Here are the two versions:
WP:TFOLWP – Content in this edit is translated from the existing Portuguese Wikipedia article at :fr:Exact name of Portuguese article; see its history for attribution.
WP:RIA – Content in the previous edit of 11:59, 32 Octember, 1999 was translated from the existing Portuguese Wikipedia article at :fr:Exact name of Portuguese article; see its history for attribution.
For your recent edits, you used #1, when it should have been #2. This is not a huge deal, because the important thing is, you included the link to the article on the foreign Wikipedia, which likely fulfills the ToU 7.b.i regarding copied/translated content, but still, if you can use the appropriate one for the situation, that will help your fellow editors. Thanks again for your attention to this matter, and keep up the good work. Mathglot (talk) 09:57, 9 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Hi there, PootisHeavy. I see that over the past month you have been very active, creating about 28 new biographies. Most of the more recent ones have been about women. If you intend to continue along these lines, you might find it useful to become a member of WikiProject Women in Red where we are trying to chip away at the gender gap. You can sign up under "New registrations" on Wikipedia:WikiProject Women in Red/New members. In any case, I look forward to many more of your interesting biographies. Welcome to Wikipedia! I edit here too, under the username Mach61, and I thank you for your contributions.
I wanted to let you know, however, that I've proposed an article that you started, DV tribo, for deletion because it meets one or more of our deletion criteria, and I don't think that it is suitable for inclusion in the encyclopedia. The particular issue can be found in the notice that is now visible at the top of the article.
Remove the text that looks like this:
Click the Publish changes button.
If you object to the article's deletion, please remember to explain why you think the article should be kept on the article's talk page and improve the page to address the issues raised in the deletion notice. Otherwise, it may be deleted later by other means.
If you have any questions, please leave a comment here and prepend it with Mach61. And remember to sign your reply with ~~~~. Thanks!

Hello! Voting in the 2024 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23:59 (UTC) on Monday, 2 December 2024. All eligible users are allowed to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.
The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.
