Archive counter not increasing

I'm not sure what I've messed up, but MiszaBot III has never incremented the counter in my archive configuration settings when an archive fills up (e.g. from today [1] and [2]). Could someone please help me fix it? VernoWhitney (talk) 20:17, 2 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I've seen MiszaBot get stuck like that on some pages; I don't no why it happens. I see it went from your archive #2 to #3 to #4 alright. Maybe manually incrementing the counter will fix it?
—WWoods (talk) 19:03, 3 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
It didn't go to those archives alright like it's supposed to; I've been manually incrementing it every time 2->3 and 3->4. I know it's not a big deal but it's annoying and since it does work elsewhere I know it can be fixed, so I'd like to know how. VernoWhitney (talk) 15:52, 6 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I did re-arrange the parameters. Let's see if it helps. --Kslotte (talk) 16:04, 6 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks very much! If it doesn't work I'll probably be back in a month or so and see if anyone has any other ideas. Cheers! VernoWhitney (talk) 16:08, 6 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Archive not running

The bot last archived my page on 18 June 2010 - since then many topics have been added and as you can see, the config template hasn't changed. I have no spam links, so I can't figure out why it's not running. Thanks  –Joshua Scott 20:15, 5 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Fixed. --Kslotte (talk) 20:23, 5 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Low priority/once-in-a-blue-moon bug

I had to manually restore a talk page archive on the request of a user because a spamblacklist-ed link was in the archive text that miszabot was trying to move, which presumably caused the archiving edit by the bot to fail. It's one of those things that realistically the blacklisting admins should have cleaned up beforehand, and it probably wouldn't happen but once in a blue moon, but I thought I'd bring it to your attention in case you're bored or something. :P --slakrtalk / 04:10, 7 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

It's also happened for Wikileaks. Maybe Misza13's a CIA agent... Andjam (talk) 12:50, 15 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I've left a note at meta:Talk:Spam_blacklist#Discussion, as I don't think there is anything much Misza13 can do about it. SmartSE (talk) 00:24, 16 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Unfortunately, though people at the blacklist could 'prevent' this, there is not enough manpower to actually systematically and fully do that. I would suggest that Miszabot checks if threads were actually saved, and if not, that it does not blank them in the original (quite easy, you get an 'error' page back when trying to save, or you can see whether there is a new revid of the page in the history). It could even consider to leave a note to the editor or try to figure out which thread is the problem, but that is a step further away. I hope this explains. --Dirk Beetstra T C 08:20, 16 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

If you have time, would you mind taking a look at this page to see if it's configured properly? It's set to archive after 14 days, but last did it on November 10. Many thanks, SlimVirgin talk|contribs 04:18, 18 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Your Bot

Hi, Is your Bot working correctly ? It just archived from the middle of this talk page !!! Thanks. *** in fact *** (contact) 12:05, 20 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I don't see anything evident of a bot malfunction. The bot archives sections based on how old the latest timestamp in that section is, and if a section contains no timestamp (i.e. if the user does not sign his post using ~~~~), it is not archived. In fact, the threads that were not archived were added some months ago. I'll add {{unsigned}} (as described on that page) to allow the bot to finally archive these. Thanks a lot for explanation. *** in fact *** (contact) 13:01, 21 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

MiszaBot III

MiszaBot III did this edit when archiving my talk page. Some edits were correct, but the final one at the bottom, had only been added some 6 hours previous.  Ronhjones  (Talk) 23:21, 20 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Permission to use your bot

Do you mind if I use your bot to archive my talk page? And if yes, can you give me instructions on how to allow it to do so? Thank you Orashmatash (talk) 22:26, 29 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Any one can use it - instructions are HERE  Ronhjones  (Talk) 22:38, 29 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. I set up your archiving script on Wikipedia talk:Requested moves, but your bot hasn't gotten to work even though a few days have passed. Can you take a look there and see what I did wrong, if anything? Or is there more than that which meets the eye? harej 07:22, 26 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Could it be that the "bots" template is blocking the archiving bot? I'll comment it out and let it re-run.  Ronhjones  (Talk) 19:35, 27 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
WOO-HOO! Look at that bot go! It had to fill up 2 archives! Thank you. harej 18:44, 28 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

My archiving

Hello MiszaBot:

Would you mind archiving my page only about once a month? Things disappear too fast otherwise. Thank you in advance.

--Frania W. (talk) 02:24, 27 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Changed archive duration to 30 days with this edit to your talk page. In the future, you can refer to User:MiszaBot/Archive HowTo for instructions for changing archival settings. PleaseStand (talk) 04:36, 27 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
