Question from Grandmother6 (19:35, 30 December 2022)
Hello, I just discovered that the photograph attached to my wikipedia page is not me. How do I delete this photo? How do I add a real photo of me? --Grandmother6 (talk) 19:35, 30 December 2022 (UTC)
@Grandmother6 Ok. I've removed it for now per your word. We'll see if anyone objects. Ping to photographer @David Shankbone if you wish to comment.
I looked at the picture at [1] and I can't say for certain that the one I removed is not the same person.
On contributing a new image. WP, and the sister-site we keep most images on, Commons, are both very careful about copyright, so we can't use a pic of you just because it's online. But if you want, you can "donate" one. Here's how:
For simplicity, choose a previously unpublished anywhere picture. If it's a selfie, you can then upload it with the process that starts here.
If someone else took it, they should upload it themselves.
It is possible to release previously published pictures under an acceptable license, but more bureaucracy is involved, you can read about that here.
Good day, Mentor. I would like to add information to an existing article on Frankie Faison. I would like to add information to his filmography. --Comegys7 (talk) 18:15, 5 January 2023 (UTC)
Så, jag hörde att du kommer från Sverige. Jag ville prata med dig eftersom jag älskar språk så mycket, och svenska är mitt andra språk! Ursäkt om det är inte så bra, rätta mig. Zaxalightning2 (talk) 19:04, 9 January 2023 (UTC)
Hi, I accidentally stepped on your toes a bit on Islam and deleted the captioned image that you'd just improved the caption for. From a page layout perspective, that image was pretty undue for the few lines on the related subject: visually it was also overlapping with the next section and causing display issues. I'm open to keeping it if others think it is valuable, but from a purely structural perspective, it was a bit of a problem for the page, and images do tend to only accompany decently sized sections. Iskandar323 (talk) 11:01, 20 January 2023 (UTC)
@Iskandar323 I have no problem with removing it. It seems that with the new standard skin, which I'm trying to live with atm, we lost a little image space everywhere, that's my impression anyway. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 11:21, 20 January 2023 (UTC)
Hi Gråbergs - about the reverted edit on the Esra Bilgiç page - if I include the link to the offending original tweet itself, would we be able to put my inclusion back in? I think it's very important to have that context, especially since the discussion was brought up again in an Urdu-language paper recently. The original tweet was one of anti-Syrian refugee propaganda, which also included anti hashtags against Afghan refugees and refugees in general. Thanks for any input....Rosewatergul (talk) 17:51, 11 February 2023 (UTC)
@Rosewatergul, hello again. In WP-land, what makes the tweet-thing have some interest in the EB article is that Dawn (newspaper) wrote about it/made the connection (and even with that source, which appears to be a decent one as these things go, someone could argue removal per WP:PROPORTION). You think Syria is important here, but Dawn didn't. The offending original tweet doesn't help per WP:OR, see also WP:BLPSPS. This is my take, feel free to ask others. Benjamin Ashburn suggested I write. Why did you choose to use that photo of the Abarbanel gravestone.
The photo I sent was clearer. And why not say an Abarbanel descendant took the photo and notified us that his gravesite was no longer unknown. Abarbaneledit (talk) 02:47, 20 February 2023 (UTC)
See here, very nice maps if you scroll down. They do US states as well, though I wonder if they misspelled Florida's and dropped -er at the end. Just a hypothesis. Finland's word is "Sauna", that's comforting. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 14:59, 2 March 2023 (UTC)
Dora Diamant's birth year
The link in footnote 1 to the Kafka Museum says 1903. I googled "Dora Diamant birth date," and most of the hits said 1898. Kathi Diamant's book says 1902 on the back of the title page but 1898 in the text at page 4. I have no idea when she was born, but perhaps someone has an authoritative source. I will put this comment on her Talk page. Maurice Magnus (talk) 16:07, 1 March 2023 (UTC)
I just replied to you on Dora Diamant's talk page, but I inadvertently did not click [reply]. Therefore, I don't know whether you will receive an email indicating that I replied. That's why I'm writing this now. Maurice Magnus (talk) 18:54, 1 March 2023 (UTC)

I do not appreciate the aggression and threatening behaviour from your members. I am trying to learn how to use. We have not been made very welcome at all. I have screenshots. I would appreciate help from your community not aggression and no help.
This is not an easy website to use and help is needed.
That isn't clear to me unfortunately. I have provided links to the sources but your member just replied with aggression. It is VERY CLEAR that I have no idea about this so just wanted some help. Maybe a template? Is there one around? but I do not want every time I write something, someone deletes. CreweNufan (talk) 22:55, 23 March 2023 (UTC)
Why has it now been marked for deletion? I need help! It is that simple. You were marked as my tutor and everyone is against us. Like this is some special club. What links do you want? This is so frustrating. Links exist. We have managed to do some much in real life and this seems to be the hardest part. I have never experienced something like this ever. People want and need help! CreweNufan (talk) 23:03, 23 March 2023 (UTC)
Read WP:N, for a start. That the club exists is not enough. If you can't provide the sources demanded at WP:N, there will be no WP-article. www.nufan.co.uk doesn't help, or other WP:ABOUTSELF sources. YES, it's quite difficult to make a WP-article without any previous WP-experience, and sometimes impossible because WP:N. So it is better to get some WP-experience first, then maybe try to make an article.
Wikipedia is not interested in what the club wants to say about itself, that is what their websites and social media are for. WP wants to know what, say, The Guardian says about it.
I will do that, leave it as it is then and we will have to grow it as we get more coverage. What's there is all done by your member. CreweNufan (talk) 23:16, 23 March 2023 (UTC)
Yes, it's getting a bit off-topic at AE, but you do deserve a reply. You wrote:
"...it was not something she had planned (as far as we know), more of a less disagreeable option (compared to people seeing her on social media with her girlfriend but reading on WP that she was married). Off topic for this discussion, but perhaps not reprehensible thinking."
She actually tried to get her marriage status described on Wikipedia but failed, so she got herself interviewed in RS for the express purpose of doing that. It wasn't something she was hiding:
"So my Wikipedia entry was essentially a time capsule. It bothered me that it was no longer accurate, but also it was kind of awkward for my girlfriend. I didn’t love that if her friends looked me up, they’d think she was dating a married woman. I needed an interview, and I knew it would be hard for my publicists to make a story happen in the last week before Christmas, so I thought, “maybe I’ll try Twitter?”"[4]
That's my understanding of the issue. She wanted her divorce confirmed here, and she did that because of her girlfriend. Both facts are important. -- Valjean (talk) (PING me) 19:38, 25 March 2023 (UTC)
Yeah, that was the comment I was thinking about. And both her divorce and her girlfriend are in the article, has been since last year, and I never had a problem with that. Still doesn't need an LGBT-category, remains my opinion. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 20:14, 25 March 2023 (UTC)
True, but she does not dictate content here. We add and delete according to RS, even regardless of her wishes. She has a COI. In some minor situations, we sometimes acquiesce to the subject's wishes, but that is our judgment call and our decision, not theirs. She has mentioned her girlfriend in RS, so we added it, and she has not objected. She has never hidden the fact she has a girlfriend.
I'm an inclusionist, so as far as the category goes, I tend in that direction, but if there was a consensus against it, I would bow to the consensus. -- Valjean (talk) (PING me) 20:29, 25 March 2023 (UTC)
@Karl Twist It seems the second link is the same as [5], which I just noticed under "Further reading". WP:N-wise, it probably matters least. If I find anything useful, I'll post it.
I understand that he's pissed off, he's not the first [6], but the nomination is in good faith so it is what it is.
Last year a lady asked at the Teahouse if someone could please tell her what happened to her husbands WP-article. Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Zachary "Skeeter" Reece is what happened, no mystery there. However, we started talking, and after me digging in the WP-library, getting help from WP:RX, and her mailing me pics of articles she had in a scrapbook (!), I recreated Skeeter Reece, which I'm rather pleased with. She also uploaded a couple of her own images, which led to a bit of trouble on Commons since for some reason they weren't taken with a smartphone, but it worked itself out. She then hunted down a photographer who had taken pics in the 90:s and made him release them on Commons. It was great fun. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 11:56, 12 January 2023 (UTC)
Hi, thanks for following up. I'll post a better reply later. Yeah, Mr. Hamilton being told he doesn't exist. I guess that would push him the edge. Hey, I applaud your resourcefulness. hey good on you for re-creating the article. Karl Twist (talk) Karl Twist (talk) 12:20, 12 January 2023 (UTC)
Hi again, what you said in your reply: 11:56, 12 January 2023 just goes to show what doesn't get picked up in a Google search. Sadly with some folk, they have this "If it's not in Google, it doesn't exist" mentality. You proved that with a bit of extra work, valuable info has come forth and the article (Skeeter Reece) would be re-created. It's a win-win situation for all and all down to your having the passion and desire to do that bit extra. Kudos to you for that! That's the kind of thing we need more of. Cheers Karl Twist (talk) 04:06, 5 February 2023 (UTC)
Hi again in April, could you please keep an eye on the Judd Hamilton page just incase someone may be a bit heavy handed *wink*. I'm not saying that anything wrong happening yet but sometimes a deletion nominator may not be the best person to improve an article. Cheers Karl Twist (talk) 08:14, 1 April 2023 (UTC)

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Jai Shri Ram, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Kabir Khan. Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)
Hi. I hope you like my contribution to your draft which I stumbled across.[7] I'm afraid I'm not so good with citation formats. In particular references to the Buddhist scriptures normally take the form "Digha Nikaya iii.35" The numbers are references to the texts themselves, being the volume and page number of the Pali which then appear in the published translations (so they should not be preceded by "pp" but neither should they be in italics). This makes it is easier for most people to look for as it doesn't depend on their using a specific translation. Good luck with the other sections! If you remain stuck perhaps this could become a standalone article some time. Shantavira|feed me11:58, 16 April 2023 (UTC)
@Shantavira Thanks for looking at my draft! My ignorance about Buddhism is monumental, so I'm glad someone is interested in improving it. I use WP:REFTOOLBAR for cites, it works fairly well. You should add page numbers when you cite something like The Buddha Smiles.
Ṭhānissaro Bhikkhu has a WP-article, so unless someone else objects, I'll assume he's an ok source, though of course writing from inside Buddhism (and I wonder why I can't find an isbn). I have no idea if his views are more or less Buddhist mainstream or represents a smaller group. Is in-text attribution reasonable here ("according to Ṭhānissaro Bhikkhu" etc)?
Some of what you've added seems to be WP:RSPSCRIPTURE sources, like Dīgha Nikāya, and that's not how a WP-article like this should be written. We want academics writing about these texts/Buddhist beliefs, not editor's take on the texts themselves. Stuff like "the Tipitaka contains many examples. The texts are also rich in puns that are often lost in translation." can't be sourced to the text itself, WP needs an academic saying it, pretty much. When I started The Bible and humor, it was clear that sources pointed out that it's very difficult to say if what we may read as humor today was intended as humor by the authors all those years ago. We need academic interpretation. Ping to @Jenhawk777 if you feel like commenting. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 20:27, 16 April 2023 (UTC)
Hi!
I have 2 questions:
1. I created a draft article that I submitted for review. An editor asked some questions, I answered those questions and made some edits and submitted the draft again, but I haven't heard back in a couple of days.
2. Some references links I used Saud the URL is wrong (even though I can click on them and they seem valid). It says the error is "cite".
@Boosquet, assuming it's Draft:Isabelle Freidheim. Reviews are made by volunteers in no particular order, like the template says, "This may take 4 months or more". DoubleGrazing may feel they've done their bit and moved on to something else, leaveing the next review to someone else.
Do you mean the "External link in |website=" that you see in the Reference section? For example, in your current ref [63], change "|website=https://seattlereports.com/" to "|website=seattlereports.com".
Unasked advice: Your draft has WP:TOOMANYREFS and WP:EL problems. I can't tell if you have any WP:GNG sources in it or not, and no wish to search for them in all those refs.
Stuff like
Her husband Scott Freidheim was CEO of private equity firm Investcorp in Europe, CEO of CDI Corp, Chairman of ettain group and is a member of the World Economic Forum. He was a key executive at Lehman Brothers until its collapse in 2008. He is a former board member of Spelman College and is a board member of the board of trustees of the United States Olympic and Paralympic Foundation. He is a past board member of the Institute of International Education, which administers the Fulbright scholarship, and the Scholar Rescue Fund within the IIE.
@Boosquet, Athena SPACs? Because you started it as an article, not as a draft. When you started Draft:Isabelle Freidheim, you were not WP:AUTOCONFIRMed, so you had to start it as a draft, but by the time you started Athena, you had the "right". However, it's recommended that new users work from drafts anyway, since an article in article-space (drafts are in "draft-space") is supposed to "float" from the second you hit "publish." With drafts, you can take your time, even go to sleep. I always start my articles as drafts. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 20:02, 25 April 2023 (UTC)
Notifications
I have 14 notifications from wikipedia, and even if I read what they are, the number is still on my screen and only grows
@The Capitalist forever Hi! I only edit on my laptop, so I may not see stuff like you do. If you use the "desktop" view on your device, and click/tap the notification icon, you should see a "mark all as read" "button." Does that help? You should also see little clickable blue dots for individual notifications.Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 19:34, 25 April 2023 (UTC)
Thank you so much! It worked. Is desktop better for editing as well? I have an account on a device no one has probably used ever to edit on Wikipedia. A Playstation Vita -web browser. Thanks for the good advice! The Capitalist forever (talk) 19:56, 25 April 2023 (UTC)
I just wanted to thank you for your kind words of encouragement on my Talk page. I can see from your Talk page that you are obviously a very accomplished and busy Wikipedian, so I'm impressed that you would take the time to pay attention to a little old newbie like me. I can only hope that, someday, my Talk page might be as full and interesting as yours. And, one last comment: I applaud you for the idea of an article on "Shatner pause." Best wishes to you in that noble endeavor!
@Jumping monk Hello! I checked the sources on User:Jumping monk (that is your WP:USERPAGE btw), and afaict, none of them meet the demands of WP:N, WP:s rule for "should WP have an article about...". They are all WP:ABOUTSELF like linkedin, YT or quora or from subject's school/employer. If that is the best sources available atm, this will not be accepted as a WP-article. To make one example, content like "Other activities" is only interesting on WP in you can source it to, say, The Telegraph or The Times of India.
I do consider the author's characterization of me to be a form of transphobic off-Wiki harassment. Not yet sure if I will be pursuing sanctions against the associated user account or not, but it's a reason why I do not want it highlighted. Knowing that, if you would like to self-revert your comment on the article talk page, please feel free to remove my reply. You may not be aware of how often those of us who enforce the consensus on race and intelligence are targeted by off-Wiki harassment, but it is a serious impediment to the proper functioning of the encyclopedia in this particular fringe area. I ask that you take this into consideration. Generalrelative (talk) 17:21, 3 May 2023 (UTC)
@Generalrelative My knee-jerk reaction go the other way, I think opinions from different quarters deserve this kind of coverage, doing otherwise makes me think white-washing/criticism-hiding. That the author has also edited WP is irrelevant, template-wise. But I can understand it's more personal for you, so I'll go WP:DONTBEADICK on this. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 18:38, 3 May 2023 (UTC)
Hello @Gråbergs Gråa Sång:, thanks for your help on the article I have been drafting on Dewar's Candy Shop. I just finished and I would like know if it is good enough to be submitted or if I need to add to it. Also, if you any other heading ideas instead of Achievments in the article, please let me know. Thank you so much! (Note:This is my first article) The Capitalist forever (talk) 06:10, 18 May 2023 (UTC)
@The Capitalist forever Hello and good work! I made some WP:BOLD changes. In the environment of (for good reason) suspicious Wikipedians, an article like this should be careful to avoid the appearance of WP:PROMO/MOS:PUFFERY. As an example, see the afd of an article of mine:Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Christoph Steidl Porenta. You can't really help editors wondering if you have a WP:COI when you make an article like this, but on the whole, they will be civil about it.
I removed [8] because despite the publisher, it was mostly an ad. But on the whole, good find and good work, this will afaict be accepted. You can skip the "submit" process and WP:MOVE it to article-space yourself, it's allowed, but since it's your first article, submitting is not wrong. Patience may be required. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 07:53, 18 May 2023 (UTC)
One more thing: In the article-text, it's WP-style not to have spaces between citations, or between citation and preceding punctuation. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 07:58, 18 May 2023 (UTC)
@Gråbergs Gråa Sång:, Thank you so much for the advice! I appreciate your changes to the article. Anyway, on the spacing between inline citation, an editor who wasn't me did most of that. Source No. 6, I put in it because at the Teahouse, I was suggested to find independent reviews for the place. I'll go ahead and submit the article for review. Thank you again so much!! The Capitalist forever (talk) 15:55, 18 May 2023 (UTC)
@Gråbergs Gråa Sång:, can I submit the draft (Which I have already done) and at the same time move it to an article space? If so, could you please do that for me if possible because I am quite confused by the WP:MOVE article. Sorry to bother so much. Thank you! The Capitalist forever (talk) 23:55, 18 May 2023 (UTC)
@The Capitalist forever Ok, things may not be as simple as I hoped. The instructions at WP:MOVE assumes you're on a laptop (per [10] you're not) or in "desktop" view on your device. Adding to this, the instructions I pointed you to are also slightly outdated because WP:VECTOR2022, things don't look quite like they used to, except for the editors who kept things old-style by choice.
@Gråbergs Gråa Sång:, Hello again. I talked to Cullen328 and he said that it is possible to submit a draft for Afc and move it to article space. Bad news is that he said its bad form and not at all recommended to do. Besides that, I was curious if there is a section where I can search Templates for userboxes. For example, I would like to your userbox that says you enjoy the works of J.R.R. Tolkein, but when I copied your template, it didn't work. Anyway, where can I search up userbox titles? The Capitalist forever (talk) 05:55, 20 May 2023 (UTC)
@The Capitalist forever If you see a userbox you like somewhere, you can look at the wikitext of that page, see Help:Editing#Edit_screen(s), and copypaste the code, for example, the Tolkien userbox is
Btw, you never have to ping someone at their own talkpage, it has no extra effect. Also, per above thread, you don't seem to use the Help:Talk_pages#Reply_tool in talkpage discussions, and it's pretty helpful, and it automaticaly WP:INDENT your talkpage comments. As you see there, you can also easily ping people with it. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 06:30, 20 May 2023 (UTC)
I see you've done a lot of work on Draft:Raegan_Revord. I appreciate it, and hope the article finally gets moved to main space! (It was in my user space for a while a couple years or so ago.)
Concert regarding your revert of my rewording of the lead section of the Jai Shree Ram Page
You mentioned that my edit failed the Wikipedia:Reliable sources and Wikipedia:Neutral point of view "Giving "equal validity" can create a false balance" tests. I disagree.
My edit was "The expression gained prominence in the late 20th century, being associated with Indian Hindu nationalist organisations like the Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP), Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), and their allies. It was used as a means to increase the visibility of Hinduism in public spaces and was adopted as a rallying cry. However, it is worth noting that there have been claims of the slogan being used in instances of communal violence against people of other faiths." I do not know what failed the Reliable sources test as I neither added a new claim nor did I modify a source. Furthermore I do not understand how my edit failed the Wikipedia:Neutral point of view test as my edit did not give any false balance to any equal view. Even a cursory search can show that all my claims are easily verifiable through mainstream media articles in india Alexandria Bucephalous (talk) 06:14, 23 May 2023 (UTC)

Pretty soon,I will be starting another article on another ice cream place called Creamistry. They seem to have alot of sources and they are a larger chain store amount-wise than Dewar's Ice Cream. What's special about them is that they make their ice cream right in front of you using very cold nitrogen which you can see and feel while standing in line for your food.
Chemistry-Creamistry! The Capitalist forever (talk) 08:00, 6 June 2023 (UTC)
On that Dewar's Candy Shop article, I guess for the section on it being originally the Chocolate Shop, it was never mentioned in the SFGate reference, so SPECIFICO deleted it. I added it back with 2 sources supporting it. Just surprised that SPECIFICO didn't look at the other sources for the heading. Should they have been added previously like I just did to the Chocolate Shop fact? Thanks! The Capitalist forever (talk) 22:01, 7 June 2023 (UTC)
Can you please consider adding image to the article yourself? The image has been deleted by admin Yan despite my possible best to add the image under Free license. I was even blocked for it. Gråberbs Gråa Sång So therefore, l think you can be of ultimate help in this regard by adding the image yourself. That Yle report of 2017 can serve as source since it's the most appropriate now. I won't like to bore you, so l stop here. Thanks. 1st Contributor (talk) 20:17, 25 June 2023 (UTC)
Fwiw, I'm quite convinced whoever put the pic on flickr is one of the people who have tried to add it on Commons/WP. If that person actually is the copyright holder, they have been told what they can do. If they are not, they should stop wasting the community's time. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 20:26, 25 June 2023 (UTC)
Ok. l respect your decision. Maybe, l will have to go do more research and see whether l will see the image on any other copyright free websites and l hope it will help as we improve Wikipedia together. What about me being blocked for what I don't know about? I was only trying to help. Thanks for giving me your time. I must appropriate 1st Contributor (talk) 22:32, 25 June 2023 (UTC)
From where I'm sitting, the best hope for WP to have a pic of Ekpa is someone taking a new one at some event or other, and then uploading that. Of course, if he's interested, he can upload a new selfie himself. People have done that before. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 08:45, 26 June 2023 (UTC)
Malhun -Mal Hatun
Why did you remove " In popular culture" section from Malhun Hatun page?
i am restoring it and telling you before reverting your edit Bluesapphire1999 (talk) 12:14, 27 June 2023 (UTC)
Because it's unneeded WP:POPCULTURE. Having it under See also is quite sufficient. Just because a historical person inspired a tv-series you like, it doesn't follow that the WP-article about the historical person HAVE TO have a popcult section, consider WP:PROPORTION. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 12:28, 27 June 2023 (UTC)
No they donot want it to be a history. I"ll be happy to tell you that it is very childish but it is truth that these people are die hard fan of Bala hatun portrayed by Actress Ozge Torer and only beacuse she is so much beautifull. and as Yildiz Cagri Atiksoy portrayed Malhun , Bala's co wife so Malhun Character and actress faced unnecssary hate for a long period of time !!! This is the sick mentality that they cannot even respect a historical person. You know for a long period of time i wasn't able to even update the story plot of Malhun specially beacause of this 49.205.83.129 user.this person has a sick mind he even used to revert all edits on fandom and wikidata regarding Malhun.
Last but not the least you can even delete Fatma Hatun page and may or may not believe but it is in turkish records that Osman Gazi had only one documented daughter named fatma whose mother was Mal/Malhun hatun.
I am fed up of this situation and i usually donot stay where i am not respected . I will retire soon from this platform and hope you all do justice in your editing. enough

Hi, Gråbergs Gråa Sång! I would like to get some suggestions on Wibool Piyawattanametha. I saw you have added failed verification statement on the education section. Since the website clearly mentions he is an alumni of that institution, I wonder why it failed to verify the statement. Furthermore, could you please provide some advice on how to make the article follow Wikipedia's policy and guidelines in order to publish it? I kindly request your response. Thank you. Aayushma Sharma (talk) 10:05, 7 July 2023 (UTC)
@Aayushma Sharma, Hi! Pretty much everybody you encounter on WP has WP as a hobby, and so tend to focus on what they please when they please: That said:
This article is a WP:BLP and apart from that it seems you have a WP:COI, perhaps this is even an assignment of some kind. In short, everything you put in the article should be clearly supported by your ref and "completed his Bachelor of Electronics Engineering (Magna cum Laude) ... in 1994." is completely absent, all it says it that he's an alumni.
In accordance with our policy that Wikipedia is not for the indefinite hosting of material deemed unsuitable for the encyclopedia mainspace, the draft has been deleted. When you plan on working on it further and you wish to retrieve it, you can request its undeletion. An administrator will, in most cases, restore the submission so you can continue to work on it.
Generally, yes. While bot edits, like the ones made by Citation bot in March and June, technically reset the timer, they are excluded as stated on {{Db-g13}}. Prior to deletion, the last edit by a human was made on January 19. ✗plicit01:45, 20 July 2023 (UTC)
Trapiello is currently categorized under Holocaust deniers and I might consider starting a subcategory later on. For the time being, I'll add the information in the Antisemitism article. Thank you very much for the sources and your time, I'll let you know if I come across further questions. --NoonIcarus (talk) 11:41, 23 July 2023 (UTC)
@Beautifulscarlet Sorry, I forgot about this. Looking quickly at the refs, it's not clear to me if refs like leedsandbradfordstudios and victorian-cinema.net are WP:SPS or not, but they look like it to me. Apart from that, consider making your text into 2-3 paragraphs, and WP:BAREURL. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 15:37, 8 July 2023 (UTC)
No worries and thanks for replying Gråbergs Gråa Sång, I'll give that a try.The page I created about Richard J Appleton has been rejected twice. I thought I'd let things cool down a bit and then give it another go. I'll do a bit more work on it including the the use of paragraphs. Beautifulscarlet (talk) 17:25, 23 July 2023 (UTC)
Hi Gråbergs Gråa Sång, I've done a little more work on the Richard J Appleton text and added paragraphs, if you are interested and have anything to add to the page please do. The page probably needs more work and I will continue to try to improve it before submitting it once more.http://en.wiki.x.io/wiki/Draft:Richard_J_AppletonBeautifulscarlet (talk) 14:09, 25 July 2023 (UTC)

Hi, I’ve created an account because I was reading the article on AE Bassom (who is an ancestor of mine) and noticed there was no picture on the page. I actually have a portrait of him in my house and was hoping I might be able to upload it or send it to someone involved in writing the page so it could be included. How would I go about doing this?
Thanks for your help!
Article here https://en.m.wiki.x.io/wiki/A._E._Bassom --Colourfulify (talk) 08:15, 6 August 2023 (UTC)
@Colourfulify, hello and welcome to Wikipedia! And thanks for wanting to contribute an image. There are annoying rules about copyright, but this should be doable.
Per what I read at A. E. Bassom, your portrait may be considered public domain, basically "the creator of a work has been deceased for more than 70 years", but I can't know, maybe you do. If so you upload your picture HERE. That is a link to Commons, a sister-site where we keep "free" images.
If you're not confident the picture is public domain, we can still use it per something called "fair use". If so, go here: WP:FUW, choose "Upload a non-free file" > "This is a copyrighted, non-free work, but I believe it is Fair Use." > "This is a historical portrait of a person no longer alive."
After you've uploaded it, you can add it to the article, directions at Help:Infobox picture, or you can tell me and I'll do it.
Hi there,
I apologize for my WikiTree (volunteer) colleagues being so annoying on that article and not being capable of writing adequately for WP. I hope I will be able to clean it up, once the smoke clears and people forgot about that article again - in case it survives.
First you need to make sure you have the reliable sources (WP:RS) demanded, see WP:BACKWARD and WP:N. If you don't, your article will not be accepted. Next, you need to know how to edit, especially how to add references correctly, this is essential. WP:TUTORIAL can help with that. Then, you can move on to Help:Your first article.
Note that trying to make an acceptable WP-article without any previous WP-experience is difficult, there are a lot of rules around, especially if you intend to write about living people (WP:BLP). It's highly recommended to first get some WP-experience by editing/improving existing articles for a while. If you intend to make an article about yourself, forget it (WP:AUTO).
Thank you again for your correction about the source of that Wikipedia article on Vesna Goldsworthy. I mentioned to User:cullen328 that Facebook mistakenly made me a friend of Vesna Goldsworthy. He did not think that this precluded me from editing her page. She is the one who, in a momentary lapse, told me that the Serbian government asked people to edit her Swedish page and gave me the URL. II really wondered why the page used Cyrillic characters in the URL if it was from Sweden. I must check with the English Wikipedia people if computerized translations of thee references there are acceptable. I will ask you a question at another time. One reference notes her praise from a Nobel laureate. At least in translation the name of the laureate is incorrect (as per Vesna). I will give you the URL of the reference and the two names at a later time. Vesna is really dissatisfied with her English Wikipedia article. I don't do much editing, so things are going slowly, I did get her picture into Wikimedia. It is on her English article. You or an acquaintance may want to add it to her Serbian article. Thanks very much.Oldsilenus (talk) 21:21, 26 August 2023 (UTC)
Hi there. I am representing the FD Foundation and the FD Center. Families have expressly requested that two photos be removed and replaced with less personal images (medically related illustrations, charts, and so on) on the page. I made an attempt to remove the pages a few weeks ago and someone named "Onorem" objected and put them back. I do not know who created the page in the first place but it is badly in need of more up to date information as well. Can you help me deal with the photo issue first? Thanks a lot! --Kincsk (talk) 14:49, 22 August 2023 (UTC)
@Kincsk Hello and welcome to Wikipedia, the online encyclopedia filled with all kinds of strange rules and customs, but we mean well. And ping to @Onorem.
Kincsk, I don't know how familiar you are with WP-stuff, but as you can see here: [17] Onorem gave a reason for reverting you, and it's not an unreasonable one. You could have reached out to Onorem at their talkpage, but we learn the strange ways of WP as we go along, and nothing says we can't start a discussion here.
Wikipedia generally lacks good pictures we can use per laws and rules, and it would probably help if you uploaded your replacements first. However, not having seen your suggested replacements, it's possible that other editors such as myself and Onorem don't agree that your replacements are as good/better, and want to keep the current pictures anyway because we think it's better for the article. Note also that your replacements have to be usable here, meaning that they must be licensed under one of the "ok" licenses here:[18]. There are a couple of ways to do that. Copyright stuff is a pain.
Onorem, however, there is another aspect now (wasn't mentioned when you reverted) per Kincsk's OP: "Families have expressly requested..." Per WP:BLPKIND, I think removing the pictures for now is acceptable. What do you say?
The Familial dysautonomia article was created in 2004 by an editor who hasn't edited since 2006, so that doesn't help but it also doesn't matter. I don't doubt it's in pretty bad shape, there's an appalling amount of [citation needed], and if you, Kincsk, is interested in improving it, be WP:BOLD, but learn how to edit WP first, and check WP:OWN, "approved by the Familial Dysautonomia Foundation in New York" is not an argument that will get you far around here. What you need to do is to cite WP:MEDRS sources. It's very much not my area, but you may be able to get some helpful input at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Medicine. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 16:15, 22 August 2023 (UTC)
@Jasssiiii First, you need to make sure you have the sources demanded at WP:NOTABILITY. If you don't, the article will not be accepted. Next, you need to know something about how to edit, especially how to add references correctly, this is essential. See WP:TUTORIAL, and it's advised to spend some time learning editing existing articles before trying to create one yourself. If you intend to write about a living person, see WP:BLP. Next: Help:Your first article. And if you intend to write an article about yourself, don't. Hope this helps! Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 13:07, 14 September 2023 (UTC)
Hi there, I'm a long-time en.wiki reader (and besides the Internet Archive, it's been my most consistent charitable donation) who has started "finding my sea legs" as a contributor over the past year. I've been an English language editor for 20 years, so I'm focused in on GOCE tasks at first, as I absorb and grasp the much more complex policies and guidelines for the rest of the 'Pedia.
I'm one of those "read the whole manual 3x before assembling" types, so much of the past year has included reading historical noticeboards of all types, and clicking through to observe the dialogue of Wikipedians actively pursuing consensus in various contexts.
Time and again I have seen your username crop up, in tireless contribution and navigation of questions. (Most recently, I believe, at the RSN.) I finally became curious and clicked through to ask about the origin of your name here, but found you were kind enough to provide that info in the very beginning of your userpage! ☺️ What a lovely and interesting poem, thanks for that.
I spent about 5 years, just before COVID, giving my everything to help run an anarchist hackerspace. I saw first-hand everyday how messy, stressful, and beautifully imperfect the consensus-building process is among human beings, and I see that again across the pages of en.wiki's history. Contributors like yourself, who I see consistently focusing on the material, content-focused concerns of building an open encyclopedia, are of crucial importance. Human drama arises, but keeping a cool head and a neutral tone helps guide us back on track, to focus on the collaborative work rather than our differences of opinion.
I don't know how to "present diffs" quite yet, lol, and I don't have any specific examples in the front of my mind, but I have this deep and consistent impression of you as one of these patient shepherds of the over-excited Commons. So in my eyes, your contributions here reach beyond content, to fostering great and workable community and communication.
Thanks for all you do, you inspire me to keep learning the ropes and find the best ways I can contribute in the long term. Have a great day! From Chelsea aka Chiselinccc (talk) 22:06, 19 September 2023 (UTC)
I just noted your note on Vesna Goldsworthy's talk page regarding the use of "currently". I appreciate it. I, however, was not responsible for that line. Someone else has been editing her lead section and they wrote it. I have removed it. Oldsilenus (talk) 17:41, 20 September 2023 (UTC)
And I tweaked it again. The good thing about wording like "as of 2023", is that this will still be correct even if she leaves the position and no WP-editors notice it. That is the point of MOS:DATED. It's good for jobs, marriages and all kinds of things. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 18:01, 20 September 2023 (UTC)
Thanks again. I actually came back to correct my prior note. It should have said: I don't think I wrote that line. :) Oldsilenus (talk) 18:26, 20 September 2023 (UTC)
I should have realized that you are not an Administrator because of your kindness and continued good humor.
@Gråbergs Gråa Sång
I want to officially notify you that l have informed Simon Ekpa about the development issues encountered on adding image to the article page Simon Ekpa. He promised to assign a new user to do it. But please, don't mistake the image on Flickr as the one formerly added and it was copyvio. You can check the differences! The former image was 2017 Finnish municipal election but the one found on Flickr is portrait he took on 7th September 2023. Don't mistake the two images please. I hope this message gets to you wel. WondersShallNeverEnd (talk) 18:30, 9 September 2023 (UTC)
Ok. Expect the image being readded. If you noticed, Simon Ekpa took that portrait image specifically for the sole purpose of it being added to Wikipedia. WondersShallNeverEnd (talk) 18:54, 9 September 2023 (UTC)
What if l get Simon Ekpa to upload the image on his website? I mean his own personal website. Or most probably, get inform him to write an email according to Wikimedia rules? Will the portrait be accepted? Will it be uploaded to Wikimedia commons and Simon Ekpa Wikipedia article page? I am being curious here! WondersShallNeverEnd (talk) 06:32, 10 September 2023 (UTC)
Could work. Consider these examples: [22], copyright notice (in english) at bottom of page and [23], copyright notice under picture, left side. Like I've noted on WP and Commons, COM:VRT exists, but I'm told you (plural (?), as in various Ekpa-image uploaders) have tried that before, so anything you try by now will probably be met with skepticism, you have shot yourself in the foot on this issue. Still, if you do it right, either of these approaches might work. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 07:08, 10 September 2023 (UTC)
Ok, yea. Those are originational websites like this one here It shows collection of portraits of BRGIE cabinets. The problem here is how to technically add that license on the left side of second website here Please continue guiding me through as we pull this out together. Honestly, l am the one in the mess here. WondersShallNeverEnd (talk) 07:47, 10 September 2023 (UTC)
