Hebron school

Hi Alan. I had previously removed some content which you have added in the article (which you re-added) . As can be seen from my user page, I have been an editor of Wikipedia for more than 2 years and my interests in Wikipedia is primarily introducing notable topics from the region and keeping existing articles from degrading. I have seen a lot of editors, let's say alumni, from Hebron, trying to edit the article. The latest addition from you does not conform to Wikipedia standards and would have to be removed at some stage. Let me tell you that I am willing to expand about Hebron with your participation. We'll first remove the parts that isn't supposed to be included, search for reliable online sources and add appropriate material to the article. You can add the online sources which you find to the section "Online sources" here: Talk:Hebron School, Ooty#Online sources. I'll start from my side when I find time. You can start searching for reliable online sources when you can and add them to the link mentioned. The relevant material can be added after discussion in the talk page. Cheers. Please do not edit the article again, unless you have something useful to add. Regardless of how long you've worked for Wikipedia,you do no have the authority to declare what "does not conform to Wikipedia standards" without solid evidence. I repeat again, that it is *unethical* to delete other people's information.

And the sources I have cited are directly from school publications, as are the sources from the web. How can you call them unreliable?

Please do not make me have to report you to a Wikipedia Administrator.

Hi Alan. I'll try to address your concerns in points.

1. This is a free encyclopedia built up by collaborative editors. As such you have no rights to "ban" me from Hebron school. See WP:OWN.

2. I'm not working for Wikipedia. I am a volunteer, who, like everybody else, add what I feel is interesting to me. In my case, topics related to Ooty.

3. I am very sorry if you felt that I was trying to intimidate you. What I meant from that "editor of 2 years" comment was that you can depend on me to expand the article. i.e. I know the ways around here and can dig up sources and add material to the article in such a way that confirms to Wikipedia standards. It doesn't help either you or the article if you take a combative stance in this regard.

4. It wasn't unethical. I didn't hack into your website and remove info. This is a collaborative wiki. There is no "your information". Again see WP:OWN quoted above.

5. While primary sources (school publications) can be used in case of high schools, you can't use dead links and cannot use your own interpretation of the sources. Also, copyright infringement is taken seriously here. You said that the website copied from Wikipedia in a previous reversion by me, but I don't think so. As such, I have allowed the material till such a time we agree upon it.

6. I highly welcome you contact an administrator if you feel I am in the wrong. Also note that your "threats" of reporting me to an administrator are not going to keep me off this article. I'm here to stay.

7. Finally, accusing editors who you don't agree with (like me) as vandals, as you did here isn't good. See WP:CIVIL. Since you are self admittedly a student of the school, I'd ask you to thoroughly understand WP:COI.

P.S. I am still willing to consider my offer of working with you in expanding the article conforming to Wikipedia standards. If you wish not to, I am afraid I can't help further with the article as I am not particularly interested with the topic and we may have to move through other dispute resolution options. Also please reply below instead of my talk page, so we can keep conversations in one place. I will be watching this page. Cheers. Suraj T

I thought of setting a goal of getting the article to "good article" status. I know it can be quite tough with this article, coz I've managed one already with a relatively easy topic. You also might be interested in looking around WP:GAN and get a feel for it.. If you want to get started, you can upload a few pics (preferably "taken by you ;)") of Hebron and start working on the article. On a more personal note, my home is just a couple of minute's walk from hebron. I've observed the school from outside almost daily. But since I'm not in ooty now, I can't take any pics. I also suggest we throw out the nuances and pedantics of wikipedia like "assume good faith" n similar rules which seem to get in the way a lot between us, and just concentrate on getting the article improved. And finally, your disagreements with me are perfectly ok here. We can argue all we want in the talk, disagree with each other and might compromise on a common outcome, but if the article isnt improved after all that, our effort is in vain.Cheers.
