Marmayogi

[edit]

Hey dude i don't think sushmitha sen is doing any role in marmayogi. Moreover the film dropped because of the film's high budget and kamal schedule is full so they had dropped the film. I think hema malini is doing the villain role(not sushmitha sen). If u still wanna do it, its ok but there is one more {Trisha's role previously given to Shriya but shriya refuse it because she was busy with her other film at that time } so tha kamal offers shriya to play as his flashback wife in the film.

Joseph Vijay

[edit]

Hey I need your help. Are you an admin? Is it possible for you to temporarily block the Vijay article from unauthorized users to edit it. It's been subject to too much vandalism and so much people are adding made up info to the page, like Vijay's 50th and 51st movies which are just rumours. I always find vandalism on the page everyday. Can you block the article from being edited by these people just until Vettaikkaaran starts or something -- its turning out to be a pain undoing all the vandalism. Thanks. --இளைய நாயகன் Eelam StyleZ (talk) 01:55, 4 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed deletion of Enga Veetu Pillai

[edit]

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Enga Veetu Pillai, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process because of the following concern:

unremarkable unreleased movie.

All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because, even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. -Zeus- [t|c] 19:59, 7 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I have deleted this article following a consensus at the deletion discussion. The consensus also indicated the possibility of userfication until the commencement of shooting has been announced. What I would do it move the deleted content to a subpage in your userspace, and you could move it back when you have been able to cite this missing detail. If you would like me to do this for you, please let me know on my talkpage. Best wishes, Fritzpoll (talk) 00:37, 13 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

This is regarding Aegan plot

[edit]

Hi,

The Aegan plot you have mentioned is completely irrelevant and follows the Hindi film ' Main Hoon na' story. Aegan which is supposedly a remake of the original Hindi fare underwent drastic changes in the script. I have watched the movie many times and know the story by heart. So I changed the story. But you have edited it back to the old content. On what basis did you change the story? I am new to Wikipedia so I dont know the rules around here. So please let me know why it was changed back.

Thanks for uploading File:Aeganaudiofront.jpg. You've indicated that the image is being used under a claim of fair use, but you have not provided an adequate explanation for why it meets Wikipedia's requirements for such images. In particular, for each page the image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check

  • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's description page for each article the image is used in.
  • That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.

Orphaned non-free media (File:Prashanthfilm.jpg)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Prashanthfilm.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 05:22, 16 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

File Copyright problem
File Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading File:Kodi1.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 12:56, 31 March 2009 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Anwar (talk) 12:56, 31 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Kamal Haasan's - $100 million box office total

[edit]

Why do you keep removing the line that Kamal's lifetime box office collections exceed $100 million? I know you are a Rajini fan. But Rajini was important after 1990 only.Let me give the box office collections of his ten films and see if you can count:

  • Dasavatharam - $18 million (All-Time Blockbuster)
  • Vettaiyadu Vilaiyadu - $11 million
  • Vasoolraja MBBS - $8 million
  • Thenali - $7 million
  • Indian - $6 million
  • Apoorva Sagodharargal - $5 million (All-Time Blockbuster)
  • Nayakan - $4 million
  • Thoongadhey Thambi Thoongadhey - $3 million (All-Time Blockbuster)
  • Vaazhvey Maayam - $2 million
  • 16 Vayadhinile - $1 million

These ten films together gross $65 million. He acted in over 200 films in Tamil, Malayalam, Telugu, Kannada, Hindi... The figure I quoted is a understatement of his achievements. Please stop blind revert warring. These one-liners are irreftable facts of the man's achievements.Anwar (talk) 14:45, 31 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I fully believe you are not what some perceive you to be, and the checkuser will prove it. I think no useless discussions are needed. It's better if a checkuser is made and you get out of this silly story. I also cannot understand how such things are relevant after a two-year gap. It makes me laugh. You're one of the better editors I know, and I trust your fairness and goodwill (and that's what I'm going to say to anyone who has the intention to harm you and your wiki-reputation).

I'm ready to support you. Right now I can't see where my opinion values, because I did not have the time to do anything but glance for two bits, and I understand nothing. You caught me at a time I'm not less active (more than three days ago, I was very active), so did not have the time to examine the situation, as well as when, how and why it started. While here, I've always fought for the fareness and the general sake of Wikipedia as an encyclopedia. I never cared if I had to pay for that, and eventually people on here appreciated that. I advice you to do the same. Don't get disheartened. Don't hesitate to make me a post whenever you need to. Your friend, ShahidTalk2me 16:58, 2 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Image permission problem with Image:Kantha.jpg

[edit]
Image Copyright problem
Image Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading Image:Kantha.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the image (or other media file) agreed to license it under the given license.

If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the GFDL or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the image to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the image has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the image's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Images lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Anwar (talk) 19:21, 5 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hey Universal Hero just wanted to inform you that you do not need permission from the copyright holder as Anwar is claiming if you are uploading a fair use. It seems like you know what is required for a fair use image but just in case you had any doubts all a fair use image needs is a fair use rationale and a license tag, eg: File:Flushed poster.jpg. However also keep in mind this only applies to items that fall under fair use such as posters, logos, cover art, etc. Keep up the good work. Salavat (talk) 03:19, 7 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Podapodi112.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the copyright status of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the copyright status of the image on the image's description page, using an appropriate copyright tag, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided copyright information for them as well.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

Poorkkalam

[edit]

I really don't know how to explain you the difference between Poorkkalam and Porkaalam, nonethess I'm trying:

Look at the Tamil writing:

போர்க்களம் - The 2009 Tamil film directed by Bandi Saroj Kumar starring Kishore & Tinnu Anand. Meaning: Battlefield

and

பொற்காலம் - The 1997 Tamil film directed by Cheran starring Murali & Meena. Meaning: Golden Time /Age

Where the hell you see the similarities between these two Tamil words. Apart from the last letter (ம்), not a single letter is the same in both the words. The main difference is the "rka", try to see the difference between "ற்கா" (in பொற்காலம்) and "ர்க்க" (போர்க்களம்). No similarities, but you have titled both the films with the same title, not possible.

THE correct anglicized spelling of "போர்க்களம்" HAS TO BE "Poorkkalam" (or "Porkkalam" as you can't make a difference between "பொ" and "போ" in English writing), but in no case "Porkkaalam"!

And yeah, it may vary always slightly (by the way, I've never seen, someone writing "Egan"!), but this, you have to understand, is actually a "major" problem, since the meanings of the words are completely different and writing "Porkkaalam" instead of "Porkkalam" will falsify the meaning of the title.

And how does it happen, that you can't distinguish the difference between these two words, since everyone, who can speak, write and understand Tamil, will notice, that both the words can't be written in the same way, neither in English nor in another language!!!

Moreover, look at the OFFICIAL WEBSITE of that film or how other websites how written the film's title. You seem to be the only, single person in the world to spell that word in that way!

So you have to make a difference between both the words, make "Porkkalam" (or "Poorkkalam") out of "Porkkaalam" or I'll do it, in two days, at the latest!

Thanks, brother, take things easy and do try to understand, what I'm trying to tell you. I never thought, this would become such major issue! Anyhow, best wishes! —Preceding unsigned comment added by Johannes003 (talkcontribs) 11:23, 13 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

GA Sweeps invitation

[edit]

Hello, I hope you are doing well. I am sending you this message since you are a member of the GA WikiProject. I would like to invite you to consider helping with the GA sweeps process. Sweeps helps to ensure that the oldest GAs still meet the criteria, and improve the quality of GAs overall. Unfortunately, last month only two articles were reviewed. This is definitely a low point after our peak at the beginning of the process when 163 articles were reviewed in September 2007. After nearly two years, the running total has just passed the 50% mark. In order to expediate the reviewing, several changes have been made to the process. A new worklist has been created, detailing which articles are left to review. All exempt and previously reviewed articles have already been removed from the list. Instead of reviewing by topic, you can consider picking and choosing whichever articles interest you.

We are always looking for new members to assist with the remaining articles, so if you are interested or know of anybody that can assist, please visit the GA sweeps page. In addition, for every member that reviews 100 articles or has a significant impact on the process, s/he will get an award when they reach that threshold. If only 14 editors achieve this feat starting now, we would be done with Sweeps! Of course, having more people reviewing less articles would be better for all involved, so please consider asking others to help out. Feel free to stop by and only review a few articles, something's better than nothing! Take a look at the list, and see what articles interest you. Let's work to complete Sweeps so that efforts can be fully focused on the backlog at GAN. If you have any questions about the process, reviewing, or need help with a particular article, please contact me or OhanaUnited and we'll be happy to help. --Happy editing! Page titles

[edit]

Hi, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you recently tried to give Aaskar Films a different title by copying its content and pasting it into Aascar Films. This is known as a "cut and paste move", and it is undesirable because it splits the page history which is needed for attribution and various other purposes. Instead, the software used by Wikipedia has a feature that allows pages to be moved to a new title together with their edit history.

In most cases, once your account is four days old and has ten edits, you should be able to move an article yourself using the "Move" tab at the top of the page. This both preserves the page history intact and automatically creates a redirect from the old title to the new. If you cannot perform a particular page move yourself this way (e.g. because a page already exists at the target title), please follow the instructions at requested moves to have it moved by someone else. Also, if there are any other articles that you moved by copying and pasting, even if it was a long time ago, please list them at Wikipedia:Cut and paste move repair holding pen. Thank you. Paravai Muniyamma

[edit]

When you are creating a new article which is not yet complete, consider adding the {{underconstruction}} tag to the top when submitting it for the first time. This lets other editors know that you are actively working on it and plan to improve it with more information and references very soon. Without this tag it's difficult for other editors to distinguish articles which are being actively worked on from those that are incomplete and are likely to stay incomplete.--RadioFan (talk) 11:50, 29 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

every film deserves to have an article

[edit]

Every film does not deserve an article, only those which meet Wikipedia:Notability (films) do. In any film articles you create, make sure that it's clear that the film has been widely distributed and/or include any major awards the film has won. Be sure to provide references for these facts or the article is likely to be nominated for deletion.--RadioFan (talk) 12:08, 29 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed deletion of Thirumangalam (film)

[edit]

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Thirumangalam (film), suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process because of the following concern:

unreleased film lacking significant coverage in reliable source_s_

-- The Red Pen of Doom 12:31, 5 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Wow, I'm really suprised seeing your article, Dasavathaaram didn't get WP:GA. I'm really taking deep interest on the article. I'll try to make edit and let's bring it up to WP:GA again. Regards, World Cinema Writer (talkcontributions) 05:09, 10 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Hey buddy! It has been a long time since I last talked to you. I am doing fine. How are you?? I managed to catch KI today, which, apparently was released two days earlier here in Toronto. The film is quite entertaining and I enjoyed it quite a lot. I haven't seen Pammal K. Sambandam so I am not sure if KI is indeed a remake of the film. Unfortunately, I haven't seen 13B though I will definitely try to get my hands on the DVD. Regards -- Bollywood Dreamz talk 02:30, 3 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

As on the title, you knew that I writing an article entitled, Urimai Kural. I was in an intention to bring up the article to WP:FA. As if, I took Lage Raho Munna Bhai as my idol, not fully. I see that the article has a WP:IPA. So, I planned to put up a WP:IPA on my article. But, I don't know whether the IPA I wrote was correct or not. So, what I want you to help me about is to check the IPA. Cheers, World Cinema Writer (talkcontributions) 02:55, 24 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Yuvan Shankar Raja-Parattai connection

[edit]

Regarding "Parattai Engira Azhagu Sundaram" music, the entire soundtrack, comprising of six songs, was defintely retained from the original Kannada version, composed by Gurukiran! As far as I know Yuvan Shankar was a part of the earlier crew, when Raju Sundaram was supposed to direct the film, so I guess, his name is still mentioned there, even after the director got changed. It is also possible, that Yuvan Shankar had scored only the background score, though I'm sure about this either.

However, this has to be clarified at first, until then I will hide your comment! Thanks, anyway!

Johannes003 (talk) 09:51, 29 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, you're right, but I think, it was Simbu's opening song ("Thotta Powerda") that was composed by Yuvan! Johannes003 (talk) 10:21, 29 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hey buddy!!! I'm happy to hear from you and I'm happy you're working on the south Filmfare Awards which have been in need of editing a long time ago. Sadly, there' not enough info about them, and there are so many languages that it's quite confusing. You created a wonderful page. ShahidTalk2me 18:29, 12 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

First, I hope you were not upset with what was happening on the Asin page. I had several discussions with TheRedPenofDoom as you can see on my and his talk pages.
New films. The only new film I saw was New York, which was good. BTW, it's quite amazing but several days back I saw a film with Kamal Haasan and Hema Malini - forgot the name. It is an amazing Hindi art film. Raaj Kumar plays his father and Padmini Kolhapure her daughter. And the elders fall for the youngsters. Kamal - well, as always great. He played an angry young man... LOL! ShahidTalk2me 18:42, 12 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
How can you compare Rajni to Haasan? I honestly was never impressed much by Rajnikanth. Kamal is a THREE-time National Award winning actor and he's had a great share of hits as well. He's an accomplished actor while Rajni is a star for no evident reason. It's my opinion of couse - I don't want anyone to get offended. I'm happy you appreciate art films. Have you seen Deepa Mehta's Heaven on Earth (film)? Preity was really really amazing!! She was nominated for several international awards and won an award at the international film festival of Chicago!
Looking forward to all these three films. And Kaminey, which releases tomorrow. ShahidTalk2me 10:35, 13 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
You said it very well: He is the master! He's made such amazing films - it's unbelievable. He's one of the few filmmakers who are able to combine total relality with art and making exceptionally artistic films without having to take anything from their realism. Dil Se is surprisingly enough one of my favourite Preity performances - although it's such a brief role. Mani sir has always extracted good performances from his actors - every actor has given one of his best in his films. ShahidTalk2me 11:13, 13 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I've deleted the article you created for Naga Chaitanya. File permission problem with File:Ajith party.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Ajith party.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file agreed to license it under the given license.

If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Amalthea 00:17, 14 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
I can't see that page you just added, http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?pid=1940531&id=607246116. Main question is, does the owner of that picture explicitly release it into the public domain there?
Amalthea 00:27, 14 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The page, goes to her official facebook page - where according to the new guidelines all material is accessible to the public. Furthermore, she has given me verbal authorisation, if you wish, I'll kindly ask her to produce some sort of note or so. :) Universal Hero (talk) 00:34, 14 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

"Accessible to the public" is very different to releasing an image into the public domain, which is what you put on the file page! If she owns that image and wants to release it into the public domain or under a free license, she would need to follow the procedure laid out in Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. As it stands, it will have to be deleted (and believe me, I'd very much like having a clearly policy compliant picture for that actor so that I could stop deleting the copyright infringing ones!).
Amalthea 00:43, 14 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I'll kindly ask her to reproduce what she had told me into an email to the email address. Universal Hero (talk) 11:41, 14 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Alright, I've marked the file as such. Please tell her to name the file name in question in her e-mail, "File:Ajith party.jpg", so that the person who processes it will know where to look. Thanks, Amalthea 11:49, 14 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Ajith Kumar

[edit]

Hello again,
can you explain to me why you think that the unsourced statement "Aalwar which bombed at the box office miserably" is in any way an appropriate phrase for an encyclopedia that strives to write neutral, verifiable articles?
Amalthea 22:37, 21 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

About the image, she has accepted - waiting for an email anytime soon. I was doing a mass reversion due to persistent vandalism. I'm slowly working through the article, as you may have seen through the expansion of the initial sections of the page. Ajith Kumar, is the second "largest" actor in South India and is open to vandals all the time. Pleas ebare with me, for the moment. Universal Hero (talk) 22:41, 21 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
No, I've not seen that, and I do not see that. Are you saying that all seven editors that made changes to the article since your last change are vandals? Are you saying that the sentence you added back and I just quoted is to be seen as an improvement?
From your edit I can't deduce what you are thinking or trying to do. All I see is that you reverted to your last version, and since you persistently refuse to use edit summaries to give your edits context, I have to come here now and get your explanation, before I change the article myself and remove the unsourced, highly contentious content that you just added back. Three Idiots

[edit]

Was there a need to change the cast in tabular format to simple format in Three Idiots. Table was looking much better than this current format. If you have no objection I will revert it back to the tabular format. Managerarc (talk) 18:56, 23 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I dont agree with you that the table format has died. I think table format is in use for most of the old and new film articles. Besides, it is written in bold which doesnt look good to the eyes. Managerarc (talk) 19:19, 23 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I feel we need to put this thing up for discussion to get the views of other people as well because there is no specific rule which defines how the cast should be mentioned.Managerarc (talk) 19:28, 23 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Goa

[edit]

Yes, I think, this is acceptable. First of all, Goa soundtrack is, along with VTV, one of the most anticipated and most expected albums. I didn't intend to start a separate article, but Goa's article itself was getting longer and longer and so decided to open a new page. If I merge the soundtrack page into the main article, it would get way too long, I feel. Goa's soundtrack page is already over 9000 bytes long!!

I don't want such a trend either and as I said, I never really planned for a separate page, but seriously I don't think Goa is an unnotable album, in my opinion there is also novelty in Goa's album. I agree that not every single film should have a separate soundtrack page, but for me Goa would be worth an exception. I will take care that not everybody opens such a page for unnotable albums. Hey friend. No it's not a flaw. A few years ago there was a delay in the awards which created a mess. Awards for 2007 were given a few months ago in 2009. And the awards for 2008 were given only now so that later this year they can give awards to 2009 films. What we should do I think is to ignore that all and follow the simple standard of writing the following year to the film's release. I mean, a 1999 film will be included in the line of the 2000 awards. ShahidTalk2me 13:57, 23 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Support

[edit]

Hey Hero :)

I really need your help and support now. An ardent Ajith fanatic is editing the Aasal article and making it a fansite. He is getting irritating slowly. Now since you are an experienced and clever editor, I would like to request you to support me in this fight against such editor. He thinks, he is correct and I have no idea about editing at wikipedia, so if at least one more editor would support me and show the poor guy "the right way", it would be really great. Thanks in advance! Johannes003 (talk) 16:07, 25 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Reg removal of my Aayirathil Oruvan edit

[edit]

Can you tell me why have you removed my edit on Aayirathil Oruvan article pls? http://en.wiki.x.io/w/index.php?title=Aayirathil_Oruvan&action=history Clapsandboos is a movie discussion board launched early this year and publishes reviews of their hired professional critics and provides their weighted score under the "loudmouth" section. All the other registered user reviews are published after moderation and a "popular score" is provided. The website is monitored by hired moderators and only valid reviews are published. All the loudmouth reviewers are hired professional writers. Hence, I think it is perfectly valid to add an entry for that in the movie article. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Arvindrockz (talkcontribs) 17:41, 26 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

//I don't know what your playing at. That garbage called "ClapsandBoos" is practically a forum full of opionated film fans. It is 100 percent NOT reliable, don't expect another reason returning an argument, as any attempt by yourslef to stick up for such a lowly cause would be invalid. I saw this too, ClapsandBoos, and will be voting for its deletion. Universal Hero (talk) 17:45, 26 January 2010 (UTC)
What do you know about the website to call it garbage? As I said before, the website doesn't allow "biased" and nonsensical reviews. All the reviews are published only after moderation. To add to this, there are profession reviews as well. You can go ahead and vote for deleting the main page for the website, as I have myself acknowledged it. But, there is no basis for deleting this review edit? It just works similar to how "Rotton Tomatoes" website works —Preceding unsigned comment added by Arvindrockz (talkcontribs) 17:54, 26 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Well, that may be your opinion. I don't understand how you call that a "fan forum". You argument holds no water. I don't know what gave you that idea neither do I understand what is that exactly that you are trying to do here. I am going to add that back, if you have issues bring it up on the discussion page for the movie. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Arvindrockz (talkcontribs) 18:12, 26 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I don't understand know what your agenda is. You have acccused the website as 'garbage' 'orkut based' and all that without the faintest of idea. What is your intention against a democratic website which is well moderated? And why don't you put up this for discussion in the movie page, then? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Arvindrockz (talkcontribs) 18:30, 26 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
It is high time you place a check on what you say. How do you accuse him of being my "sockpuppet" when you don't have any clue about us? Most of your accusations were invalid and you didn't accept it when I responded to you. Then when I passed on the message to the person who writes for the site and have him clear things for you, you accuse him of being my "sockpuppte". How comfortable, eh? That you prefer to talk randomly without addressing the concerned issue. And, I can't speak for him or his edits. I am trying my best to constructive edits and am here for that only. When we showed you how "notable" the website writers are, what is the problem? Movie Buff (talk) 20:05, 26 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Well well well, is this all you can comprehend? He wrote in your page that "I am Udhav Naig" and explained things to you. On a different discussion, I posted the same justification in User talk:BOLLYWOOD DREAMZ's page. Please go and check for yourself if I had claimed there that I was Udhav. Again, you are just resorting to cheap accusations and your claims of "sockpuppet" is totally baseless and holds no water. If you want to start an investigation for that, you can go ahead.
Now, why don't you actually address the discussion that is supposed to happen here? You have been provided enough references to how notable the website's critics are. Then, what exactly is the issue? Movie Buff (talk) 20:19, 26 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
It looks like we are talking in circles. If your concern is the website reviews being written by "non notable" people, then doesn't references to the notable works of the reviewer hired that I provided help the cause? Or if the concern is that people will be able to "read the review" of that particular critic, then I guess I can link the exact review of that critic, right? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Arvindrockz (talkcontribs) 20:48, 26 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Regarding that 'List of Top Tamil films' on the Tamil films of 2010 page, did you thought of adding only the figures of the openings of the films or to update the figures weekly? GANs

[edit]

Hey, I'm Hunter. I've been considering reviewing your GANs, and the subject matter really fascinates me. However, each of these GANs seem to be cited entirely by websites, and I'm not sure whether they meet Wikipedia's reliable source standards. That being said, however, I'm not very familiar with this film genre, so maybe these sources are entirely reliable and I'm just not familiar with them. Could you please explain to me what makes these sources reliable before I conduct any GAN reviews...

Let me know ASAP, as we really need to start getting this GAN backlog cleared out. Thanks! — Hunter Kahn 03:40, 1 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

  • Ok, well, at first glance, BehindWoods strikes me as a reliable site, but the OneIndia Wikipedia page itself actually describes OneIndia as an unreliable Wikipedia source. I've never seen something like that before. Please understand that I'd like to see these articles make it through the GAN process, and personally I think I tend to take a more liberal position on WP:RS than some editors, but I've seen sites considered more stable than these challenged as unreliable. So I'm just trying to think of the best way we could handle this. I suppose one way would be to look at Wikipedia:Identifying reliable sources#Questionable sources and produce evidence that these sites don't fit that criteria (by establishing reputation, editorial oversight, that the material isn't promotional, that it doesn't rely on rumors). Another approach, I guess, would be to go to the Wikipedia:Reliable sources/Noticeboard and get input on the sources there. (IndiaGlitz has already been challenged on the noticeboard a few times, here and here.) Another option is that you might want to consider removing these articles from GAN contention for now, until you can sort this issue out with the reliability. What do you think? — Hunter Kahn 14:35, 1 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry to barge in, but Behindwoods, reliable? Guys, They publish some odd story - In fact based on my industry contacts, I can refute most of their 'news' items!!Karthik Sriram (talk) 20:05, 9 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Regarding Samantha Ruth Prabhu

[edit]

Hey! Regarding Samantha Ruth Prabhu's article, it is mentioned that is born to a Malayali and Telugu couple, so she is half Malayali and half Telugu, but not Tamil at all. So why adding her name in Tamil language or removing her name in Telugu (or Malayalam)? I think, only the name in her mother tongue, should be added there, shouldn't it? For instance, see Vidya Balan, who is Tamilian, but though she never acted in a Tamil film, her name in Tamil language has been put in her article! What say? [edit]
WikiProject Good Articles will be running a GAN backlog elimination drive for the entire month of April. The goal of this drive is to bring the number of outstanding Good Article nominations down to below 200. This will help editors in restoring confidence to the GAN process as well as actively improving, polishing, and rewarding good content. If you are interested in participating in the drive, please place your name here. Awards will be given out to those who review certain numbers of GANs as well as to those who review the most. Aayirathil Oruvan

[edit]

Hey, went through the plot and made some minor changes. I'm not an expert at all, but felt that the plot was actually written very well. I tried to help as far as I could. Go over it again, and perhaps you should ask the editor for some advice, where exactly to make corrections and to help out. Here are some lines, I didn't change, but felt should be corrected.

  • "They nearly go mad before finally reaching the secret hideout of the Chola dynasty" - I feel this line could be reworded.
  • "The central minister, who sponsors the expedition, is also shown to be a Pandyan." - Which central minister, perhaps should be more detailed.
  • "The Cholas are at war once again with the Pandyas." - This means they were warring earlier already, has it been mentioned earlier?

That's all for now. I hope I could help a little bit. Cheers and have fun! :) Johannes003 (talk) 10:10, 6 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hey dude,

actually same here. Most probably I'll be very busy too in next weeks, but will try to come here, though. Yeah, I didn't create a user page, wasn't much interested. But since you asked, I'll tell about my likes and dislikes. Some questions are really unfair and hard to answer, like the first one. ;) But I try somehow.

  • 1. Rajinikanth or Kamal Haasan: the better actor/star
    • 1. Rajinikanth :) (I'm somehow kind of a Rajini fan, but KH is a great actor, no offense! :) )
  • 2. Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam: Rank them in order
    • 2. Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada (Watch mostly Tamil only, hardly watched any other language films)
  • 3. Simran or Jyothika: the better actress
    • 3. Jyo ;)
  • 4. Vikram, Surya or Madhavan: the better actor
    • 4. Vikram
  • 5. Asin or Genelia: the better actress
    • 5. Asin
  • 6. Dhanush or Simbu: the actor with the better future
    • 6. Dhanush
  • 7. Kajal Aggarwal or Samantha: the actress with the better future
    • 7. Samantha
  • 8. The Next Telugu superstar: Ram Charan Teja, Allu Arjun, Rana or Naga Chaitanya
    • 8. Ram Charan Teja perhaps, Telugu is not my cup of tea
  • 9. The most promising: Karthi, Arya, Simbu, Dhanush or Jeeva
    • 9. Karthi / Jeeva
  • 10. The last film you saw that you really liked
    • 10. Very difficult to say, any films I saw recently were hardly likeable. Paiyaa and VTV perhaps, but it's been a long time since I really thoroughly liked a film.
  • 11. The last film you saw that you felt was "pure torture"
    • 11. Oh yeah, many, the last one has to be Thamizh Padam, I guess.
  • 12. Your all-time favorite performance/film of Kamal Haasan
    • 12. Again difficult to say, there are many, all-time best should be Nayagan. :)
  • 13. Ajith, Vijay, Vikram, Surya: Rank them in order
    • 13. Ajith, Vikram, Vijay, Surya

A tag has been placed on Kaavalkaaran, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G4 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be a repost of material that was previously deleted following a deletion debate, such as at articles for deletion. Under the specified criteria, where an article has substantially identical content to that of an article deleted after debate, and any changes in the content do not address the reasons for which the material was previously deleted, it may be deleted at any time.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. —SpacemanSpiff 19:59, 11 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

AfD nomination of The 19th Step

[edit]

An editor has nominated one or more articles which you have created or worked on, for deletion. The nominated article is The 19th Step. We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also Wikipedia:Notability and "What Wikipedia is not").

Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion(s) by adding your comments to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/The 19th Step (2nd nomination). Please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).

You may also edit the article during the discussion to improve it but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate.

Please note: This is an automatic notification by a bot. I have nothing to do with this article or the deletion nomination, and can't do anything about it. --Erwin85Bot (talk) 01:13, 18 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Can you respond to a question at Talk:Reemma Sen#The move from Reema to Reemma. Jay (talk) 06:03, 21 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I have nominated Kaavalkaaran, an article that you created, for deletion. I do not think that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Kaavalkaaran. Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time.

Please contact me if you're unsure why you received this message. —SpacemanSpiff 05:03, 21 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

You are now a Reviewer

[edit]

Hello. Your account has been granted the "reviewer" userright, allowing you to review other users' edits on certain flagged pages. Pending changes, also known as flagged protection, will be commencing a two-month trial at approximately 23:00, 2010 June 15 (UTC).

Reviewers can review edits made by users who are not autoconfirmed to articles placed under flagged protection. Flagged protection is applied to only a small number of articles, similarly to how semi-protection is applied but in a more controlled way for the trial.

When reviewing, edits should be accepted if they are not obvious vandalism or BLP violations, and not clearly problematic in light of the reason given for protection (see Wikipedia:Reviewing process). More detailed documentation and guidelines can be found here.

If you do not want this userright, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. Courcelles (talk) 20:18, 15 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{dated prod}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. Thank you for uploading File:Anjaadhe gallery 1.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of that website's terms of use of its content. However, if the copyright holder is a party unaffiliated from the website's publisher, that copyright should also be acknowledged.

If you have uploaded other files, consider verifying that you have specified sources for those files as well. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged per Wikipedia's criteria for speedy deletion, F4. If the image is copyrighted and non-free, the image will be deleted 48 hours after 11:00, 2 July 2010 (UTC) per speedy deletion criterion F7. A tag has been placed on Krishnaleelai requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be a clear copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words.

If the external website belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag - if no such tag exists then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hangon tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. A tag has been placed on Album (film) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about about a person, organization (band, club, company, etc.) or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable. You may also wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles - see the Article Wizard.

Indiscriminate reversion

[edit]

Your total reversion of the article Kamal Haasan to your last edited version from several weeks ago is unacceptable, considering there have been 55 edits since then, some of which improved the article. Indiscriminately reverting other people's edits is equivalent to asserting total ownership over an article, which is not the way Wikipedia works. AtticusX (talk) 21:20, 13 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

London Wikimedia Fundraiser

[edit]

Good evening! This is a friendly message from Chase me ladies, I'm the Cavalry, inviting you to the London Wikimedia Fundraising party on 19th December 2010, in approximately one week. This party is being held at an artistic London venue with room for approximately 300 people, and is being funded by Ed Saperia, a non-Wikipedian who has a reputation for holding exclusive events all over London. This year, he wants to help Wikipedia, and is subsidising a charity event for us. We're keen to get as many Wikimedians coming as possible, and we already have approximately 200 guests, including members of the press, and some mystery guests! More details can be found at http://ten.wiki.x.io/wiki/London - expect an Eigenharp, a mulled wine hot tub, a free hog roast, a haybale amphitheatre and more. If you're interested in coming - and we'd love to have you - please go to the ten.wikipedia page and follow the link to the Facebook event. Signing up on Facebook will add you to the party guestlist. Entry fee is a heavily subsidised £5 and entry is restricted to over 18s. It promises to be a 10th birthday party to remember! If you have any questions, please email me at chasemewiki at gmail.com.

Hope we'll see you there, (and apologies for the talk page spam) - Chase me ladies, I'm the Cavalry (talk) 00:09, 13 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The article Helloo India has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Article is about a film allegedly "in production"; sources I find show it as somewhere between in final shooting and post-production; no clear information is given about an actual release; most sources only mention the film in passing. Per WP:CRYSTAL, this should be deleted until the movie is fully confirmed (ideally, released).

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. Rattha Charithiram

[edit]

The website www.behindwoods.com only carries box-office reports of Tamil films (never for dubbed films from Telugu, Hindi, Hollywood), hence why it actually even included Rattha Charithiram, and since (yes half the movie was dubbed), the actor Suriya's scenes were all reshot in tamil, and the film was in fact released as a straight tamil film (watch the start of the movie). So it would actually make sense if it was included in the Top 10 Tamil film. Trishna147 (talk) 23.58, 01 January 2011 (UTC)

Yours faithfully, Kotakkasut. 07:13, 2 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hello again Universal Hero! I didn't hear from you but I am happy to announce to you that the discussion has ended with a happy note and the page has been moved to simply Kanthaswamy. Looks like your wish has been granted! Yours faithfully, Kotakkasut. 14:56, 13 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

If you are interested in participating in the drive, please place your name here. Awards will be given out to those who review certain numbers of GANs as well as to those who review the most. I really appreciate your work on the article. I know how difficult is to find sources for his films released before Sethu. Though many consider "Indiaglitz" and "beindwoods" as reliable some reviewers might not accept it. Also I doubt if "Thiraipadam.com" is reliable. Anyway, I'll also try to replace those with reliable ones. Finally, I'm happy to see you back again :) --Commander (Ping Me) 02:47, 21 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Ganeshkar requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think that the page was nominated in error, contest the nomination by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion" in the speedy deletion tag. Doing so will take you to the talk page where you can explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but do not hesitate to add information that is consistent with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. The article Nee Ente Lahari has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Non-notable film. Fails WP:NFF

In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. WikiProject Good articles (Participant Clean-Up)

[edit]

Hello, you are receiving this message because you are currently a participant of WikiProject Good articles. Since the creation of the WikiProject, over 200 user's have joined to help review good article nominations and contribute to other sections of the WikiProject. Over the years, several of these users have stopped reviewing articles and/or have become inactive with the project but are still listed as participates. In order to improve communications with other participants and get newsletters sent out faster (newsletters will begin to be sent out monthly starting in October) all participants that are no longer active with the WikiProject will be removed from the participants list.

If you are still interested in being a participant for this WikiProject, please sign your user name here and please help review some articles so we can reduce the size of the backlog. If you are no longer interested, you do not need to sign your name anywhere and your name will be removed from the participants list after the deadline. Remember that even if you are not interested at this time, you can always re-add your name to the list whenever you want. The deadline to sign your name on the page above will be November 1, 2012. Thank-you. 13:36, 22 September 2012 (UTC)

Update for: WikiProject Good articles (Participant Clean-Up)

[edit]

Sorry for having to send out a second message but a user has brought to my attention that a point mentioned in the first message should be clarified. Sorry for any confusion.--Dom497 (talk)15:26, 22 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free media (File:Jaggubhai.jpg)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Jaggubhai.jpg.

You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. This is a notice to inform you that a tag has been placed on Ameer (director) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is an article with no content whatsoever, or whose contents consist only of external links, a "See also" section, book references, category tags, template tags, interwiki links, images, a rephrasing of the title, or an attempt to contact the subject of the article. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.

If you think that your page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, you can place a request here. Kailash29792 (talk) 13:03, 12 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

WikiProject Good Articles Recruitment Centre

[edit]
Hello! Now, some of you might be wondering why there is a Good article icon with a bunch of stars around (to the right). The answer? WikiProject Good articles will be launching a Recruitment Centre very soon! The centre will allow all users to be taught how to review Good article nominations by experts just like you! However, in order for the Recruitment Centre to open in the first place, we need some volunteers:
  • Recruiters: The main task of a recruiter is to teach users that have never reviewed a Good article nomination how to review one. To become a recruiter, all you have to do is meet this criteria. If we don't get at least 5-10 recruiters to start off with, the Recruitment Centre will not open. If interested, make sure you meet the criteria, read the process and add your name to the list of recruiters. (One of the great things about being a recruiter is that there is no set requirement of what must be taught and when. Instead, all the content found in the process section is a guideline of the main points that should be addressed during a recruitment session...you can also take an entire different approach if you wish!) If you think you will not have the time to recruit any users at this time but are still interested in becoming a recruiter, you can still add your name to the list of recruiters but just fill in the "Status" parameter with "Not Available".
  • Co-Director: The current Director for the centre is me (Dom497). Another user that would be willing to help with some of the tasks would be helpful. Tasks include making sure recruiters are doing what they should be (teaching!), making sure all recruitments are archived correctly, updating pages as needed, answering any questions, and distributing the feedback form. If interested, please contact me (Dom497).
  • Nominators, please read this: If you are not interested in becoming a recruiter, you can still help. In some cases a nominator may have an issue with an "inexperienced" editor (the recruitee) reviewing one of their nominations. To minimize the chances of this happening, if you are fine with a recruitee reviewing one of your nominations under the supervision of the recruiter, please add your name to the list at the bottom of this page. By adding your name to this list, chances are that your nomination will be reviewed more quickly as the recruitee will be asked to choose a nomination from the list of nominators that are OK with them reviewing the article.

If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact me. I look forward to seeing this program bring new reviewers to the Good article community and all the positive things it will bring along.

A message will be sent out to all recruiters regarding the date when the Recruitment Centre will open when it is determined. The message will also contain some further details to clarify things that may be a bit confusing.--Dom497 (talk)

Disputed non-free use rationale for File:14680661 guruen7.jpg

[edit]

Thank you for uploading File:14680661 guruen7.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this file on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the file description page and adding or clarifying the reason why the file qualifies under this policy. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your file is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a non-free use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for files used under the non-free content policy require both a copyright tag and a non-free use rationale.

If it is determined that the file does not qualify under the non-free content policy, it might be deleted by an administrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you. —SpacemanSpiff 14:31, 17 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

The article Swimming Pool (1976 film) has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Lacks notability of films

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. GAN December 2013 Backlog Drive

[edit]
Hello! A GAN Backlog Drive will begin in less than 4 days!

In past Backlog Drives, the goal was to reduce the backlog of Good article nominations. In the upcoming drive, another goal will be added - raising as much money as we can for the Wikimedia Foundation. How will this work? Well, its pretty simple. Any user interested in donating can submit a pledge at the Backlog Drive page (linked above). The pledge should mention the amount of money the user is willing to donate per review. For example, if a user pledges 5 cents per review and 100 nominations are reviewed, the total donation amount is $5.00.

At the time this message was sent out, two users have submitted pledges for a total of 8 cents per review. All pledges, no matter how much money, are greatly appreciated. Also, in no way is this saying you must make a pledge.

If you have any questions, feel free to contact me or leave a message on the Backlog Drive talk page. And remember, there are less than 4 days before the drive starts!--EdwardsBot (talk) 03:01, 27 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

March 2014 GAN Backlog Drive

[edit]

It's that time again! Starting on March 1, there will be another GAN Backlog Drive! There will be several changes compared to previous drives:

  • This drive will introduce a new component to it; a point system. In a nutshell, older nominations are worth more points than newer nominations. The top 3 participants who have the points will be awarded the Golden, Silver, or Bronze Wikipedia Puzzle Piece Trophy, respectively.
  • Unlike the December 2013 Backlog Drive, earning an additional barnstar if you reached your goal has been removed.
  • The allowance to have insufficient reviews has been lowered to 2 before being disqualified.
  • An exception to the rule that all reviews must be completed before the deadline has been created.

Also, something that I thought I would share with all of you is that we raised $20.88 (USD) for the WMF in the December 2013 drive. It may not sound like a lot but considering that that was raised just because we reviewed articles, I would say that's pretty good! With that success, pledges can be made for the upcoming drive if you wish.

More info regarding the drive and full descriptions regarding the changes to this drive can be found on the the drive page. If you have any questions, feel free to leave a message on the drive talk page.

I look forward to your participation and hope that because of it, some day the backlog will be gone!

WikiProject Good articles Future GAN Backlog Drive

[edit]

Hello everyone! Hope you've all been having a great summer!

TheQ Editor recently proposed the idea of having another Backlog Drive in either September/October or November/December of this year. For those of you who have participated in the past two drives you know I was the one who organized them, however, come September, this will be my most important year in school so I will not be able to coordinate this drive (if it happens). TheQ Editor has volunteered to be a coordinator for the drive. If any of you would like to co-coordinator, please notify TheQ Editor on his talk page.

If you would be interested in participating in a Backlog Drive sometime before the end of this year, please notify TheQ Editor. Also, make sure to specify what month(s) work best for you.

At the time this message was sent out, the backlog was at 520 nominations. Since May, the backlog has been steadily increasing and we are currently near an all time high. Even though the backlog will not disappear over one drive, this drive can lead to several others which will (hopefully) lead to the day where there is no longer a backlog.

As always, the more participants, the better, and everyone is encouraged to participate!

GA Cup

[edit]

Hello everyone! We hope you have all been having a great summer!

As we all know, the recent GAN Backlog Drives have not had any big impact on the backlog. Because of that, me (Dom497), Figureskatingfan, and TheQ Editor have worked on an idea that could possibly finally put a dent into the massive backlog. Now, I will admit, the idea isn't entirely ours as we have took the general idea of the WikiCup and brought it over to WikiProject Good Articles. But anyways, here's what we have in mind:

For all of you that do not know what the WikiCup is, it is an annual competition between several editors to see who can get the most Good Articles, Featured Article's, Did You Know's, etc. Based of this, we propose to you the GA Cup. This competition will only focus on reviewing Good articles.

For more info on the proposal, click here. As a FYI, the proposal page is not what the final product will look like (if you do go ahead with this idea). It will look very similar to WikiCup's page(s).

The discussion for the proposal will take place here. Please let us know if you are interested, have any concerns, things to consider, etc.

WikiProject Good Articles - GA Cup

[edit]

WikiProject Good articles is holding a new competition, the GA Cup, from October 1, 2014 - March 28, 2015. The Cup will be based on reviewing Good article nominations; for each review, points will be awarded with bonuses for older nominations, longer articles and comprehensive reviews. All participants will start off in one group and the highest scoring participants will go through to the second round. At the moment six rounds are planned, but this may change based on participant numbers.

Some of you may ask: what is the purpose for a competition of this type? Currently, there is a backlog of about 500 unreviewed Good article nominations, almost an all time high. It is our hope that we can decrease the backlog in a fun way, through friendly competition.

Everyone is welcome to join; new and old editors! Sign-ups will be open until October 15, 2014 so sign-up now!

If you have any questions, take a look at the FAQ page and/or contact one of the four judges.

Cheers from NickGibson3900, Dom497, TheQ Editor and Figureskatingfan.

Non-free rationale for File:JodiNumberOne.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:JodiNumberOne.jpg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under non-free content criteria, but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia is acceptable. Please go to the file description page, and edit it to include a non-free rationale.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified the non-free rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Proposed deletion of Soora Samhaaram

[edit]

The article Soora Samhaaram has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

tagged for notability for 2 years and for lack of sourcing for over a year, no evidence provided of meeting WP:GNG

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. -- TRPoD aka The Red Pen of Doom 21:21, 2 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. A tag has been placed on File:Kuselan-jun20-2008-001.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image is an unused redundant copy (all pixels the same or scaled down) of an image in the same file format, which is on Wikipedia (not on Commons), and all inward links have been updated.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. The article Heera Rajagopal has been proposed for deletion because it appears to have no references. Under Wikipedia policy, this biography of a living person will be deleted unless it has at least one reference to a reliable source that directly supports material in the article.

If you created the article, please don't be offended. Instead, consider improving the article. For help on inserting references, see Referencing for beginners, or ask at the help desk. Once you have provided at least one reliable source, you may remove the {{prod blp}} tag. Please do not remove the tag unless the article is sourced. If you cannot provide such a source within seven days, the article may be deleted, but you can request that it be undeleted when you are ready to add one. A tag has been placed on Sara Arjun, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.

What is A. L. Vijay's connection to Vijay Anand?

[edit]

For some weird reason you seem to have made Vijay Anand (director) redirect to A. L. Vijay's page. Why?

Vijay Anand (director) was linked to previously from Shekhar Kapur's page. Since obviously A. L. Vijay is NOT Kapur's uncle and Dev Anand or Chetan Anand (director)'s brother, I changed the link to point to Vijay Anand (Hindi film maker) instead.

This leaves the Vijay Anand (director) redirect completely unused at present. Since I see absolutely no reason for Vijay Anand (director) to redirect to A. L. Vijay, why not delete the redirect so that we can use Vijay Anand (director) for Dev Anand's brother, just as we use Chetan Anand (director) for his other brother? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 120.57.22.165 (talk) 20:57, 10 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Dr Shivam Dwivedi requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a real person or group of people that does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator.
