Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that you've added some links pointing to disambiguation pages. Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

Infoboxes

[edit]

Hello. Thanks for your addition of infoboxes, but could I ask that you provide citations for start/end dates, ideology and political positions. In one case you added a start date that was contrary to the text (and also different from Russian Wikipedia). Thanks, Number 57 12:58, 30 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Could I also recommend avoiding the use of 'and age' templates for start/end dates. They are only really appropriate for organisations that exist (and even then, personally I think they are unnecessary). Cheers, Number 57 15:35, 30 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Anarchism

[edit]

Hi Ivan Ch RU,

I saw your work on articles related to anarchism and wanted to say hello, as I work in the topic area too. If you haven't already, you might want to watch our noticeboard for Wikipedia's coverage of anarchism, which is a great place to ask questions, collaborate, discuss style/structure precedent, and stay informed about content related to anarchism. Take a look for yourself!

And if you're looking for other juicy places to edit, consider expanding a stub, adopting a cleanup category, or participating in one of our current formal discussions.

Feel free to say hi on my talk page and let me know if these links were helpful (or at least interesting). Hope to see you around. czar 08:47, 20 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Our Choice (Russia) moved to draftspace

[edit]

An article you recently created, Our Choice (Russia), is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. An article you recently created, Socialist Workers' Party (Russia), is not suitable as written to remain published. Overly-complex tables

[edit]

Thanks for all your work on election articles and political parties, but could I please give some advice: The tables you are adding are unnecessarily complicated and don't look very good. The standard is to have something simple and easy to read like what is now in the Șor Party article. The ones you added to Democratic Party of Moldova#Election_results are not easy to read, and deleting the headings makes navigation less easy. Some basic tips:

  • Don't use percentage bars – the colours make them hard to read and they're completely unnecessary when a simple number will do.
  • There's no need to detail each government in the final section except in cases where a party switched support/oppose within a parliament
  • There's no need to have a two-row heading – get rid of the 'Performance' header and just have the Votes, %, Seats etc in the main header row.

Thanks, Number 57 18:15, 8 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

PS, another couple of tips for the infoboxes: Vacant seats aren't usually listed, and there's no need to use the % sign in the percentage column. Cheers, Number 57 20:29, 10 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Party logos

[edit]

I noticed you have been replacing local en.wiki party logos with ones you have uploaded to commons. However, in most cases party logos are copyrighted and uploading them to commons is a copyright violation. As a result, the images are being deleted from commons and then being removed from articles, meaning the articles end up having no logos after your edits (like Social Democratic Party of Albania, whose logo I have had to restore). Please only upload party logos to en.wiki and tag them as non-free images. If possible, please could you go back to all the articles you removed the local images from and restore them to avoid them being image-less. Thanks, Number 57 17:01, 14 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Ways to improve Democratic Obedience Party

[edit]

Hello, Ivan Ch RU,

Thank you for creating Democratic Obedience Party.

I have tagged the page as having some issues to fix, as a part of our page curation process and note that:

English name of the party: Google Translate shows it as Democratic Obedience Party. However, on their website, the term Democratic Conviction is used when the party refers to themselves. Which is which? Is there any English references for the English name that we can refer to?

The tags can be removed by you or another editor once the issues they mention are addressed. If you have questions, leave a comment here and begin it with {{Re|Robertsky}}. Remember to sign your reply with ~~~~. For broader editing help, please visit the Teahouse.

Hello! I've seen the Volner Party, that you edited. The Volner Party is actually is splited from the Jobbik, and not from the Our Homeland Movement. János Volner said, that he was never the member of the Our Homeland Movement, and never joined to this party. So, he was never the member of the Our Homeland Movement party, i just saying that. If you speak Hungarian language, or some languages, that you can see the news websites, that János Volner saying this, i was never the member of the Our Homeland Movement party, i was originally a member of the Jobbik. Infobox upgrade

[edit]

Hello. Just to let you know, {{Infobox legislative election}} has been upgraded to pick up party colours from party names. So if you link a name in the party field (like |party1=[[Labour Party]]), it will pick up the meta colour template. This means you don't need to manually set the colour or create shortname templates to get it to work. Cheers, Number 57 19:43, 1 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Recent edit reversion

[edit]

In this edit here, I reverted some information that appears to be a violation of our copyright policy.

I provided a brief summary of the problem in the edit summary, which should be visible just below my name. You can also click on the "view history" tab in the article to see the recent history of the article. This should be an edit with my name, and a parenthetical comment explaining why your edit was reverted. If that information is not sufficient to explain the situation, please ask.

I do occasionally make mistakes. We get hundreds of reports of potential copyright violations every week, and sometimes there are false positives, for a variety of reasons. (Perhaps the material was moved from another Wikipedia article, or the material was properly licensed but the license information was not obvious, or the material is in the public domain but I didn't realize it was public domain, and there can be other situations generating a report to our Copy Patrol tool that turn out not to be actual copyright violations.) If you think my edit was mistaken, please politely let me know and I will investigate. S Philbrick(Talk) 13:54, 12 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Notice

The article Center Party (Norway) has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Non-notable political party which has never won a seat in any election it participated in.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. An article you recently created, Liberty (political party, Palestine), is not suitable as written to remain published. Opinion polling graphs

[edit]

Hi, thanks for implementing those LOESS opinion polling graphs in a lot of articles. One thing that I've noticed however, is that in some cases there are problems with the shorter trendlines, like for Romania. This is caused by the fact that the smoothness of the line depends both on the "span" parameter and the number of data points. Generally, you need a lower "span" value for lines with fewer points. If all lines are the same length, you can easily just define one value and apply it to all lines. However in cases of new parties, I'd recommend to use different (higher) value for those lines. In the code you can just replace the "spansize" variable with a custom number i.e. like this:
geom_smooth(aes_string(x='polldate',y=party11,color=shQuote('col11')),span=3.0,se=FALSE)+
It'll be trial and error though to find the correct values so that all lines have the same appearance. Additionally, if you want to avoid corners in your lines, like here, I recommend defining the "n" parameter which defines the number of points used to construct the curve, which should be high in cases where the amount of polling data is large. You could use something like this:
nnum <- 500

...

geom_smooth(aes_string(x='polldate',y=party1,color=shQuote('col1')),method="loess",span=spansize,n=nnum,se=FALSE)+
Thank you. --Gbuvn (talk) 15:33, 17 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Ukrainian graph

I wrote how you should change the graph on the talk page in the Opinion polling for the next Ukrainian parliamentary election, but you ignored them, so I will write here. Take only the polls from Razumkov Center, Rating, KIIS, SOCIS, SMC, Info Sapiens and DIF. Make the order of the parties as in the table `since october` and make the abbreviations correct. I send as it should be: SN #38B34A, YeS #1B3892, OPZZh #1B62B0, Batkivshchyna #ED1C24, RP #989898, SiCh #0064B4, USH #FFDD00, Nashi #16327A, RPOL #D64541, Svoboda #0E294D, PSh #FF0000, UDAR #C93732, Holos #FA4616, ZM #5C068C. Costa Rica political "logos"

[edit]

Hi, just a quick note, in Costa Rica there is only one graphic image associated with each political party and inscribed for the ballot, it is called a divisa (signal or so translated), and corresponds to the flag, what you added to Social Democratic Progress Party is just one of their logos for their social networks and they also have a non rounded corner version [1]. You can check the official thumbnail/compacted divisa used in the ballot at: [2] (Under "Presidente y Vicepresidentes de la República"). In the end, is just another version of the flag. Same applies for the other parties, logos are not really necessary in Wikipedia as they can change very quickly or have many versions, but the divisa/flag is a bit more constant and in some cases have lasted decades (PLN, PUSC...). Thanks for your edits and translations! --Roqz (talk) 21:57, 7 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Platel, thank you very much for your many edits around democracy and parties.

Because of the upcoming parlamenary election in Hungary and your contributions i would like to ask you, if you could update the two charts you created: chart coalitions and chart parties.

Otherwise I maybe will update the csv-data myself using the polling data collection of the english polling article because many people are now reading the articles , if I will find time understanding the structure of the file.

I appreciate your current and future work, Thanks from Germany, BeimelJ (talk) 17:43, 26 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Concerning edits

[edit]

Hello. I was extremely concerned by your edits you had made to 1992 Serbian general election. Particulalry:

  1. Using this source for the presidential election results. It is for a different event, and from a source that only details referendum results, not elections
  2. The National Assembly results were completely wrong, with vote figures seemingly made up for some parties (exactly 200,000 votes for the Serbian Opposition), multiple parties listed that did not participate in the elections, and sources that did not contain the claimed results.

The National Assembly table in particular was very worrying. Was this some kind of test edit? If so, you should never do this on the article – you should use your sandbox. Number 57 12:06, 16 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Is this source reliable? If not, then I admit my mistakes.PLATEL (talk) 12:09, 16 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Ideally, information is needed directly from the CEC of Serbia, not from intermediary sources.PLATEL (talk) 12:13, 16 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
It certainly doesn't seem to be reliable (and sorry, I didn't see that it has vote totals for the other parties – the figures are hidden if you open it in a narrow window).
This seems to be a reliable source for Serbian parliamentary elections. Number 57 12:24, 16 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Also, please don't leave off the seatsXX= parameter for parties that didn't win seats. It should be seatsXX=0 if they won zero seats. If you don't use this, a line appears rather than a number. Cheers, Number 57 12:25, 16 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for helping. PLATEL (talk) 12:26, 16 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Re the 1990 elections, again, the figures in the results table are not right. You have 5432 for the Democratic Reform Party of Muslims. Both sources used have a figure of 3432. You have 17.675 for the Peasant Union; both sources have 52,663. The seats also totalled 254 not 250.
One of the benefits of {{Election results}} is that it automatically totals the figures, meaning you can compare the totals of the table you have created with that in the source, which is an easy way of identifying user input errors. Please try to use this and be more careful in your additions. Cheers, Number 57 12:33, 16 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Also, CESID and Vreme had different figures for some parties. If you want to use the full set of results from Vreme, you cannot use CESID as a source (for the invalid votes etc) as the sources don't match. Number 57 12:40, 16 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

More big errors

[edit]

As I advised above, the totalling built into {{Election results}} allows you to see when you have made errors in your input. In this table you made two huge errors – you had the Left Coalition seat total as 123 not 110 and the SRS vote total as 715,564 rather than 1,162,216. This should have been immediately obvious from the fact that the total number of seats (according to the table) was 263, and the number of votes did not add up to the number in the source.

Did you not check this? Number 57 19:15, 16 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I need to be more attentive. Editing the next elections, I will take into account my past mistakes.PLATEL (talk) 04:27, 17 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Is the title correct, or should it be Bloc of Communists and Non-Partisans (the latter being plural too). Cheers, Number 57 19:30, 18 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

An article you recently created, List of political parties in the Donetsk People's Republic, is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. scope_creepTalk 10:39, 30 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Runiversalis requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person, a group of people, an individual animal, an organization (band, club, company, etc.), web content, or an organized event that does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. — SummerKrut 18:16, 26 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Translating from Russian

[edit]

Information icon Hello. I have noticed that you often edit without using an edit summary. Please do your best to always fill in the summary field. This helps your fellow editors use their time more productively, rather than spending it unnecessarily scrutinizing and verifying your work. Even a short summary is better than no summary, and summaries are particularly important for large, complex, or potentially controversial edits. Dublicate article

[edit]

Can you share with us how to solve this problm? The original article created July 24 was linked to the invasion-related templates but you nevertheless created a duplicate article. Sakiv (talk) 17:39, 27 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

What article are you talking about?PLATEL (talk) 18:01, 27 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
This article: 2022 Russian-occupied Ukraine referendums (created under the title Kherson Oblast status referendum).--Sakiv (talk) 18:04, 27 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Initially, I created an article not about a specific referendum in a specific area, but in general about referendums in Ukraine. For me, these are different things. Other editors have already done the rest, including attaching an article that they created earlier, to which they created later, setting a strange precedent. PLATEL (talk) 18:07, 27 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
The article I created was not only about Kherson but was also going to include Zaporizhzhia as you can see from the existing sources. I don't know why all the region referendums were combined into one article. I think you should have added your content to the original article instead of creating a new one. Talk about holding referendums on annexation started well before August 11.--Sakiv (talk) 18:15, 27 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
How do you propose to resolve this situation? It's been almost two months now. PLATEL (talk) 18:18, 27 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Splitting articles about Luhansk, Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia, Kherson, and Crimea

[edit]

Hello. I've been told that I'm not supposed to edit articles relating to Russia, after an arbitration discussion. Apparently, that also includes talk pages relating to Russia. However, I would like to add my two cents.

IMO, the articles about "Luhansk Oblast, Ukraine", "Luhansk People's Republic", and "Lugansk People's Republic, Russia", should be kept as three separate articles. Full disclosure, I am on Ukraine's side in this conflict. However, I disagree about the "POV-Fork" argument. If the articles get merged together, then that will just make a big mess of the pre-existing Ukrainian articles (i.e. "Luhansk Oblast, Ukraine"), which are currently in a stable condition and should be left alone. The three different articles clearly discuss three different political entities throughout history, even though they discuss the same land area. But, for example, there are articles about "German Empire", "Weimar Republic (Germany)", "Nazi Germany", "West Germany and East Germany", and "German Federal Republic" (i.e. present-day Germany), which all denote historical regimes that occupied the same land known as Germany, each one succeeding the one before it.

The article "Lugansk People's Republic, Russia", should not be deleted. It represents a regime that exists as a matter of fact, even despite having been illegally created and being not recognised by Ukraine and the international community. The fact that Russia claims and controls it is good enough to argue for its existence. As for merging with the "Luhansk People's Republic", I disagree. The LPR claimed to be an independent sovereign state, despite being unrecognised internationally. It existed for 7-8 years before joining Russia, which is a significant enough period of time to warrant its own article.

As for naming the Russian-annexed region "Lugansk" versus "Luhansk", I am inclined to use the Russian name. It can be argued that "Luhansk" is better due to being the COMMON-NAME, but going by the official Russian designation, it should be Lugansk. With that being said, for another example, the country of Turkey renamed itself to "Turkiye" recently, but its Wikipedia article is still called "Turkey" due to this being the common name. With that being said, Swaziland renamed itself to "Eswatini" a few years ago, and its Wikipedia article has actually changed to the new official name. Jargo Nautilus (talk) 11:43, 2 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I have already expressed my position on this issue more than ten times.
May the gods forgive me for WP:NPA, but stupid people will continue to think that I, a Putinist, created these four articles to intoxicate my propaganda fantasies.
I no longer participate in the discussion, because the stupid cannot be convinced by any arguments and analogies. PLATEL (talk) 11:53, 2 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I'm not accusing you of holding any positions, by the way. From what I can tell, your positions have been consistently reasonable. I myself am not participating in the discussions due to the arbitration case against myself (which prevents me from editing Russia-related articles). The arbitration case is still ongoing. Jargo Nautilus (talk) 11:59, 2 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I truly believe that people are going to regret merging the "Luhansk Oblast", "Luhansk People's Republic", and "Lugansk People's Republic, Russia" into either one article (Luhansk Oblast) or two articles (Luhansk Oblast + Luhansk People's Republic). If the articles are merged together, the information contained within each of the three articles will become messily entangled. Jargo Nautilus (talk) 12:02, 2 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
