Hi Jim, I need help regarding certain photo you have posted...
[edit]Hi, I am interested in (http://up.wiki.x.io/wikipedia/commons/5/58/World_Peace_Bridge_Riverside_CA_20100226.jpg) image of Word Piece Bridge. I would like to know if it can be used in non-profit online brochure and what are the terms? Can you help me out? Thanks, Vito — Preceding unsigned comment added by Gojakv (talk • contribs) 10:34, 13 June 2012 (UTC)
Hi MissionImm.Jim from Brenda
[edit]Hi, I am not on the task force anymore and wanted to say that I enjoyed working with you. If you wish to get in touch, you can message me on my user page and I can give you my email address. Bhneihouse (talk) 20:53, 9 December 2009 (UTC)bhneihouseBhneihouse (talk)
hey thanks for the message. I did get a bit harsh at the end because both Philippe and Eekim were totally ignoring my requests for them to act humanely and for them to deal with a request I made for an accommodation for my disability, which they entirely ignored. I saw that you stopped posting and I figured it was for reasons similar to mine -- burn out with all this micro level cerebral nonsense and a desire to move forward in a meaningful way. With your background, which I have dealt with a lot, my brother being a programmer since my teens and my ex husband being in high tech, high end avionics electronics R&D, and having a ton of friends in shoes similar to yours, I figured you wouldnt want to dilly dally with a project where it seemed nothing was getting done nor would it get done. What bothers me most is that the task force community had no rules and supposedly Wikipedia's rules didnt apply there, yet I got blocked for a Wikipedia rule and I was blocked by someone involved in the "dispute" which is tacitly against the rules and the spirit of Wikipedia. I just have this sense that this task force group is doing whatever they want to without mind to the consequences. That just doesnt sit well with me. If you say "any idea is ok here" then any idea, including an honest expression of frustration has to be ok. I work in the social justice realm and the ways Wikipedia and the task force work doesnt fit what I consider equitable or just. Thanks for the support. If I can help with anything, give a holler. ~~bhneihouse~~ —Preceding unsigned comment added by Bhneihouse (talk • contribs) 05:45, 10 December 2009 (UTC)
Hi MissionImm.Jim
[edit]I appreciate your assistance the other day. My feelings got hurt. And then I realizied I was just being selfish and self centered. Afterall, I put so much work in the stuff I wrote.
What I did not do was think about how to become part of this wonderful project in a helpful way. I am most gratefull for your kindness in not slapping me to hard. Since you last contacted me I have made some new efforts in adding information to the Riverside Poly page about some of the information from the yearbooks. Subject was in Music and another in the School Mascot and school pride. I even learned one way to make a reference.
Here is a question about appropriate information for the Riverside County page under Places of Interest. Would it be proper to add the Rouote 66 Museums that are in Riverside? There are also some in San Bernardino that could go on their page. Most humbly - Cirelages (talk) 07:26, 31 July 2009 (UTC)
Jim, One more little question, I must be blind. I don't seem to be able to find the link to e-mail you. Cirelages (talk) 06:10, 2 August 2009 (UTC)
Hi There!
[edit]It seems that you are intrested in the Riverside, CA, Inland Empire (California) area. Please see Wikipedia:WikiProject Inland Empire and join if you like. It is a newly formed wikiproject that I just created so please cheak it out. Any questions contact me! Thank-You House1090 (talk) 02:06, 7 July 2009 (UTC)
Your welcome, well thats great I focus mostly in San Bernardino, so we can work together. I will be scanning through the Riverside Article when I get the chance. I feel the IE Articles need some work. Dont be shy and add what you feel and like on the project page. House1090 (talk) 04:48, 7 July 2009 (UTC)
- Wait what template are you talking about? House1090 (talk) 22:04, 7 July 2009 (UTC)
- Oh well in a metro/regional article you add every thing about the region, not just of 1 city, and for a city article you add stuff of just the city...same for a template. Hope I made my self clear. Also I added a WikiProject IE user box to your page, hope you dont mind. House1090 (talk) 06:36, 8 July 2009 (UTC)
- No, I don't mind the added user box. Thanks for clarification MissionInn.Jim (talk) 01:57, 9 July 2009 (UTC)

- Hi Jim, city article guidelines are here: Wikipedia:WikiProject_Cities/Guideline. To my knowledge, there isn't a standard template for regional articles. Just gather some good sources and wing it. Best, Ameriquedialectics 13:45, 8 July 2009 (UTC)

Riverside
[edit]What do you think the Riverside article needs? House1090 (talk) 00:10, 10 July 2009 (UTC)
- I'll have to give that some thought. I have noticed a few things that probably need to be cleaned up and updated. I'll try to make some time this weekend to look it over. Is there a good city article somewhere that you would recommend as a model? Also, is this the best place for me to respond, or would you prefer I respond on your talk page?
- San Francisco is featured. (I tend to respond wherever.) Ameriquedialectics 02:24, 10 July 2009 (UTC)
- Yea San Francisco is a great Idea! And please add anything you like to the wikiproject! House1090 (talk) 02:41, 10 July 2009 (UTC)
- I was looking at the Riverside disambiguation page today, and thought that could use some cleanup also. In fact, it seems to me, after looking at the other items on the page, that Riverside, California should be at the top. I believe the disambiguation style guide calls for the most common reference to be at the top. Do you think I would get a lot of flack if I put it up there? MissionInn.Jim (talk) 02:37, 11 July 2009 (UTC)
- Probably. Riverside, Ca is the first hit on a Google search, but a couple other results also show up as well. The disambig page is organized alphabetically by country. You can try if you want to see what would happen but I would expect to get reverted. Ameriquedialectics 16:40, 11 July 2009 (UTC)
- Go for it it doesn't hurt to try. House1090 (talk) 00:48, 12 July 2009 (UTC)
<==You know, you ought to put an image of the Mission Inn into the Riverside page. I think you could easily move the suburban housing image down to, say, near the list of schools where there's all that white space on the right, and put a hotel photo in its place near where it's mentioned. You probably have a bunch of photos, so pick an image that isn't yet featured at the Mission Inn article. Something iconic.
- Good idea. I'll find one to include.
Also, you can report that the slogan/tagline/whatever of the Mission Inn is "the world-famous Mission Inn" but you can't put "world famous" in regular text. It's a peacock term. Binksternet (talk) 17:25, 18 July 2009 (UTC)
- That's helpful to know. Thanks for the feedback. MissionInn.Jim (talk) 17:32, 18 July 2009 (UTC)

Riverside in what Valley?
[edit]Hi I was wondering what valley is riverside in? Im thinking Riverside is a part of the Perris Valley and the Jurupa Valley, but Im not sure. I would have to say I am positive that Riverside in not a part of the San Bernardino Valley, do you happen to know what valley Riverside is in? House1090 (talk) 22:08, 4 August 2009 (UTC)
- It's funny you should ask. I have been trying to figure that out recently. I have lived most of my life in Riverside, and have never heard it referred to as being part of either the San Bernardino or Perris vallies. I have never heard it referred to as being in a valley at all, but it is surrounded by hills of varying heights. Recently I did find two sources that state that Juan Bautista de Anza called it the "Valle de Paraiso" or Valley of Paradise, but I have not been able to confirm that on the Web De Anza site, and I never heard that used or seen it on a map. If I find anything, I'll let you know. MissionInn.Jim (talk) 01:58, 5 August 2009 (UTC)
- Well that makes two of us I've never heard of riverside being in a valley, I thought it was a low foothill community with the diffrent elevstion ranges like San Bernardino/Highland/Yucaipa. But I recall reading one day about Riverside being in the Perris Valley. But I will also be doing some more research as well. So yea let me know what you find, and I will let you know if I read any thing important. House1090 (talk) 20:00, 5 August 2009 (UTC)

IE picture of the Week!
[edit]Hey, would you like to choose this week's "IE Picture of the Week"? I dont know if you have noticed but we have a IE picture of the Week board on the WikiProject IE page. The current picture is the one of the Riverside Skyline and we need a new one, so would you like to change it to a diffrent one? Any-one you like, I would like if you could choose because you have help out a lot. LEt me know and change it! Thank-You, House1090 (talk) 23:24, 27 September 2009 (UTC)
Hi Jim -- Thanks for the compliment and the input. To me, it seems like "United States of America" can refer to either the singular country, or the plural fifty states, but I can understand your point (and maybe I'm wrong that it can be either). I changed it to "California is a state within the United States of America", which I hope you like better. If you have another suggestion for a simple definition, feel free to change it yourself. Thanks again. Propaniac (talk) 18:16, 2 October 2009 (UTC)

[edit]The Inland Empire is a Metropolitan Area not a region, but I reverted your edit because some people might be doing research on San Bernardino or Riverside Counties, they might be intrested in the the metro. the county is in, does that make sense? But thats my opinion. If you like you may put it in the IE talk pge and see what other Wiki users think. House1090 (talk) 21:29, 10 October 2009 (UTC)

A Couple of Questions...
[edit]Hey, I would like to know if you are ok with WikiProject IE using the MissionInn picture you have on your user page as the IE picture of the week? Please let me know ASAP! Also what do you think of including Inyo County in the Inland Empire? I ask this because I saw a sign in San Bernardino naming the Inland Empire Counties and it included Inyo County, it was a school district sign to be exact. And also a user has added Impirial County to Inland Empire article, as possibly being within the IE area, but I'm not sure if Imperial County or Inyo County are in the Metropolitan Area. Again I have heard of Inyo County of being in the IE, but not Impirial, but people in Riverside County might since Riv. and Imperial Counties are next to each other. Let me know what you think of including Inyo and Imperial to the IE article formally as soon as possible or if you have ever heard any of these two counties of being in the Inland Empire, Thank-YouHouse1090 (talk) 03:57, 25 November 2009 (UTC)
- It's OK with me if you use the picture. I don't know who uploaded it.
- I have never heard of Inyo or Imperial counties being part of the IE. I have heard of eastern LA County being included. I thought I understood you to be working from the perspective that the Inland Empire is the same as the Riv-SB-Ont MSA. If that is true, then the IE definitely would not include Inyo and Imperial counties. Your question supports what I was trying to say originally. It's difficult to associate the IE with a specific metropolitan area or MSA since the IE means different things to different people. There is no official definition.
- I would not oppose including those counties, if reliable sources could be referenced. MissionInn.Jim (talk) 06:05, 25 November 2009 (UTC)
- Well thats what I thought I agree with you, I dont have a reference, and thats my question is Inyo County part of the Riv-SB-Ont metro (MSA)? Look at its population and the IE Metro population dont SB, Riv, and Inyo County add up the IE metros population? The IE website (www.inlandempire.us) states that SB and Riv. Counties make up the Inland Empire, or the Riv-SB-Ont MSA. Again locally I have, not regularlly though, heard and seen signs of Inyo County of being part of the IE, but I have no source to back up me, so I have never tried to include it to the IE article. By the way what do you consider the Riv-SB-Ont MSA? House1090 (talk) 06:35, 25 November 2009 (UTC)
- When I refer to the Riv-SB-Ont MSA, I am referring to what is defined by the Census Bureau here. It clearly shows that only Riverside and SB counties are included, but the Census Bureau never uses the term Inland Empire, so the two terms are not necessarily equivalent.
- I would not put too much faith in population numbers. All population numbers are estimates. Depending on what assumptions are made the numbers could very widely. MissionInn.Jim (talk) 14:23, 25 November 2009 (UTC)
- Yea, I could see that but I think Inland Empire is just a nickname, like the Twin Cities for example, the US Census uses Minneapolis-St. Paul (and some other city, I dont remember the name), but people and media still refer to it as the Twin Cities. People and media refer to the Riv-SB-Ont MSA as the Inland Empire. Again thats why I wanted a name change so that it can be obvious that the article is about the MSA rather than something else. House1090 (talk) 20:53, 25 November 2009 (UTC)
- I'm in agreement that IE is a nickname, but it's a nickname that means different things to different people. The way I see it, the content of a Wiki article about the IE should be approached differently than an article about the Riv-SB-Ont MSA. The MSA is a discreet area that can be described in terms of demographics, economy, geography, etc. The IE is more conceptual and it would be difficult to pin down those things since the area covered varies depending on context. As an example, I just picked up a copy of Inland Empire Weekly, and it includes Claremont in the IE. Claremont is in LA County. MissionInn.Jim (talk) 22:25, 25 November 2009 (UTC)
- Yea Im sure you and I have different views on what the Inland Empire is, even if we may not agree on the article name and what not its always good to have other opinions and I wanted to let you know as top contributer of WikiProject IE, I will always ask for your opinion. By the way what do you think of you becoming an admin? We could use an admin to represent the Riv-SB MSA. Let me know as soon as possible, I also had in mine of becoming a candidate my self, but you defenitly have a good contribution history, and I am willing on putting a good word in for you and backing you up 100%. House1090 (talk) 03:14, 28 November 2009 (UTC)
- I don't think I would be interested in being an Admin at this time, because I can't be certain of my time committment, but what would you need an Admin to do? MissionInn.Jim (talk) 13:37, 28 November 2009 (UTC)
- Usually admins have more respect, and are thought of higher authority. An admin. would be able to support wikiproject IE all the way. And also there edits are more respected, and no questions are asked. And there is no committment needed, you will just be higher ranked, and if you dont get become one, you can all ways try again later. House1090 (talk) 04:46, 30 November 2009 (UTC)
Category:Wikipedians in Toastmasters International
[edit]Hi Jc37; It appears you deleted the above category in 2007. Since then, several Wikipedians have used the user box template that places them in this category. Is there a reason the category should not be added back? Thank you. MissionInn.Jim (talk) 02:17, 19 November 2009 (UTC)
- Hi.
- The simple answer is: Just because there is a userbox, doesn't mean that there should be a category attached to it.
- See Wikipedia:Userboxes for more information. - jc37 17:54, 25 November 2009 (UTC)
- Regardless of the user box, is there a reason this category should not be added back? You appear to have deleted it because it was an empty category. Now there are eight wikipedians in the category. MissionInn.Jim (talk) 20:06, 25 November 2009 (UTC)
Inland Empire Project merger thoughts
[edit]Hi, I was hoping I could get your current opinion at a renewed discussion on whether to change WikiProject Inland Empire to a task force of WikiProject California, including any questions you had about what that would mean. The discussion is located at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Inland Empire#We gotta merge this. Thanks for any response in advance, and for your work on Inland Empire topics. -Optigan13 (talk) 08:57, 1 December 2009 (UTC)
Our mutual friend House1090...
[edit]...the other day represented you as supporting moving the Inland Empire article:[1] Would you care to clarify at Talk:Inland_Empire_(California) and WT:CAL? Thanks for your time, Ameriquedialectics 17:55, 10 December 2009 (UTC)
- Hey, thanks for your clarification. The problem, I would say, with using the Census designation is that it probably only sampled population statistics from those particular distinct urban areas, and not for example from the Palm Desert or areas further out. I realize the IE is a fuzzy area, but to the extent we have "hard data" on it, the MSA data would be what we have. I agree with you in
that a separate MSA article would be redundant andthat the "IE" itself as a distinct cultural region is not limited to the bounds of the MSA, but I would say we could keep the MSA at the heart of the article and accurately say something to the effect of "some sources outside of the Census Bureau and State of California include the entirety of the Pomona Valley and Palm Desert in the IE, others put the boundaries to the extent of the counties, but any actual outer boundaries are indeterminate."
- Thanks for your erudition, patience and calm. You really are a model Wikipedian, ha ha. (I realize I can be less than that.) Ameriquedialectics 17:20, 11 December 2009 (UTC)
- I hope you understand I did not understand you correctly, I am sorry. House1090 (talk) 19:18, 11 December 2009 (UTC)

[edit]Hey Jim, you made some pretty extensive changes to the article? It seemed like anything negative was removed, while everything positive was left in. just trying to get any idea on how you think that strengthens the article. also, some of the changes you made weren't correct. You write that the average GMAT score was 580, but when I went to the citation you provided, it has what I had put, 572. Its fine if that's the correct number, but you need to give us the new link. I'm going to revert until we talk about it, and then, of course, i'll be more than happy to honor any changes the community agrees to.

[edit]Jim, great work on the two Rancho La Sierra articles! They are much better than they were two days ago. Do you think the Entomology Heading should be a level higher ? I see it either way, and leave it up to you. Thanks. Emargie (talk) 04:07, 12 July 2010 (UTC)
- Thanks Emargie for the positive feedback. I am OK either way with the etymology. I even went back and forth a couple of times on that myself. The reason I put it as a sub-heading under history is because the content relys on what has already been said under history. As long as it follows the history section, I am OK with it being one level higher. Thank you for asking. It's always nice to be consulted. MissionInn.Jim (talk) 04:32, 12 July 2010 (UTC)

[edit]On Saturday January 15, 2011, Wikipedia will turn 10 years and people all over the globe will be celebrating Wikipedia on that day. No event is currently planned for Orange County Wikipedians, so I am leaving a message with some of the currently involved editors listed in "Wikipedians in Orange County, California" & "Wikipedians in Southern California" to see if we might want to meet on that day, lunch, dinner, group photo or other ideas welcomed? I will start a "Turning Ten" discussion thread on my Talk page to see if any interest can be planned for and determined. I am located in Old Towne Orange off the circle.Tinkermen (talk) 20:22, 6 January 2011 (UTC)
Speedy deletion nomination of Temple Beth El (Riverside, California)
[edit]If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Temple Beth El (Riverside, California) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about an organization or company, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, contest the deletion by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion," which appears inside of the speedy deletion ({{db-...}}
) tag (if no such tag exists, the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate). Doing so will take you to the talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. Basket of Puppies 07:07, 22 June 2011 (UTC)

Dixie Cup image
[edit]Jim: re your photo of the Dixie Cup. It's the one in Riverside, but why is it used in the Solo Cup Company and Sweetheart Cup Company articles? That is, did they continue to operate the Riverside plant after acquisition? If so, those articles should mention the fact and the image captions should mention Riverside. Thanks. --S. [edit]Hi
the folks at the National Archives at Riverside are interested in using Wikipedia but are a little/lot intimidated. Would you be willing to help them get started? Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Your contributed article, Cat City (disambigutation)
[edit]If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
Hello, I noticed that you recently created a new page, Cat City (disambigutation). First, thank you for your contribution; Wikipedia relies solely on the efforts of volunteers such as you. Unfortunately, the page you created covers a topic on which we already have a page – Cat City (disambiguation). Because of the duplication, your article has been tagged for speedy deletion. Please note that this is not a comment on you personally and we hope you will continue helping to improve Wikipedia. If the topic of the article you created is one that interests you, then perhaps you would like to help out at Cat City (disambiguation). If you have new information to add, you might want to discuss it at the article's talk page.
If you think the article you created should remain separate, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. Additionally if you would like to have someone review articles you create before they go live so they are not nominated for deletion shortly after you post them, allow me to suggest the article creation process and using our search feature to find related information we already have in the encyclopedia. Try not to be discouraged. Wikipedia looks forward to your future contributions. Willsome429 (say hey or see my edits!) 01:46, 25 November 2019 (UTC)
- Willsom429; I first created a disambiguation for "Cat city" (note lower case "c" on city), then realized it should have been "Cat City". Is that the reason you thought you there was an existing disambiguation page? I subsequently changed the disambiguation page with the lower case "c" to redirect to the disambiguation page with the upper case "C". Was this wrong? MissionInn.Jim (talk) 01:58, 25 November 2019 (UTC)
- As I reviewed pages in the New Pages Feed, two similar ones popped up: Cat City (disambiguation) and Cat City (disambigutation). For whatever reason, the capitalization error in the first one had been fixed and the second one spelled "disambiguation" wrong ("disambigutation") and so I tagged the misspelled one for CSD so that the one with correct spelling would stand. To avoid this situation in the future, you can use the "Move" feature (available under the "More" tab next to "View History") to keep the page history and not create a duplicate page while still correcting the spelling error. Regards, Willsome429 (say hey or see my edits!) 14:02, 25 November 2019 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of Olivewood Elementary School (disambiguation)
[edit]If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Olivewood Elementary School (disambiguation) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G14 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a disambiguation page which either
- disambiguates only one extant Wikipedia page and whose title ends in "(disambiguation)" (i.e., there is a primary topic);
- disambiguates zero extant Wikipedia pages, regardless of its title; or
- is an orphaned redirect with a title ending in "(disambiguation)" that does not target a disambiguation page or page that has a disambiguation-like function.
Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such pages may be deleted at any time. Please see the disambiguation page guidelines for more information.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

[edit]It's cool that you got to go visit there a few days ago. My wife and 2 kids and I did the trail to the falls and back on Thanksgiving day. My first time there, though I climbed Tahquitz Rock back in '71. Dicklyon (talk) 05:04, 18 December 2020 (UTC)
- @Dicklyon: Yes, it was a nice hike. We saw our first Bighorn sheep in the wild, and it was also our first time in Tahquitz Canyon. There are so many hikes around the Palm Springs area, it's crazy we haven't done more. We plan to check out Fern Canyon next week. OvertAnalyzer (talk) 15:47, 19 December 2020 (UTC)
- You live there? We found good walking at Big Morongo Canyon Preserve, and Bombay Beach, California, and Barker Dam (California). And I'd like to get back and see where the Colorado River Aqueduct dumps water into the Whitewater River, near Bonnie Bell. What else is good? Dicklyon (talk) 03:32, 20 December 2020 (UTC)
- @Dicklyon: Yes. I live in Cathedral City, adjacent to Palm Springs. We've been here about a year and a half, but only went on one other trail so far, and that was "The Araby Trail". It takes you up past the "Bob Hope House". It was a good hike, but probably would be better in the Spring when things are flowering. Plan to try Fern Canyon on Wednesday. Will let you know how it is. I also thought Whitewater Canyon would be a good trip. I added some of the content for Bonnie Bell, California, and have been interested in the origin of the name. I believe it was named for Aubrey Wardman's wife (Bonnie Bell-Wardman), but I haven't found a source to confirm that. Aubrey Wardman contributed a lot to the city of Desert Hot Springs, California.
