China Power New Energy Development Company Limited
Hi, Northamerica1000. Could you please take a look on China Power New Energy Development Company Limited for improving it. Thank you. Beagel (talk) 17:55, 17 October 2016 (UTC)
- Hi Beagel I may not work on this article at this time. I notice it has been nominated for deletion, so I may work on it at some other time if it's retained. North America1000 03:58, 20 October 2016 (UTC)

Hey, you are edit Nestle Bear Brand? Cyrus noto3at bulaga (talk) 00:13, 19 October 2016 (UTC)
- Hi Cyrus noto3at bulaga: I performed a couple of minor edits to Nestlé Bear Brand, but that's it thus far. As far as improvements, the article would benefit from the addition of sources to verify content within it and to demonstrate notability for the topic. An image of the product would also serve to improve the article. North America1000 04:03, 20 October 2016 (UTC)

Lists of companies by country discussion
Extended discussion

---|
I was looking at revamping the format of the "Companies of (country)" series of articles and I'm aware you've tackled this problem before. Using the general layout you used for articles like List of companies of Niger, I was thinking about using a table layout to make a sortable list that would include sector, HQ and founding date. I've made a draft for what Mali would look like at User:Kuru/sandbox. Could you briefly take a look and share your thoughts? This will obviously be insanely time consuming for larger countries, so I'd like to get some input first. Kuru (talk) 03:01, 24 September 2016 (UTC)
Hi there. I'd be happy to help. Please paste anything you want into my sandboxes. These are free: User:Anna Frodesiak/Bronze sandbox, User:Anna Frodesiak/Silver sandbox, and User:Anna Frodesiak/Pink sandbox. Just give me instructions and I'll ping you when it's ready. Hello, Northamerica1000, you help me edit Bonakid Wikipedia article? ɔyʀɥs ɴotoʒɑt bulɑɡɑ (Talk to me) 10:43, 21 October 2016 (UTC)
- Hi Cyrus noto3at bulaga: I have performed some minor editing and formatting to the page, and also added a Find sources notice on the talk page. I may not work on the article more, because I'm working on other matters. The find sources notice can be used to search for sources to improve the article. Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Candyland (musician)
What is the purpose of relisting Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Candyland (musician)? You may want to state the specific reason on that page. --Jax 0677 (talk) 18:41, 20 October 2016 (UTC)
- @Jax 0677: Some of the arguments therein do not specifically delineate whether or not the subject meets notability guidelines, ("While I do not intend to go through the dozens of citations in the article", and the notion of redirection per "...the notable thing she's actually done", the latter of which does not address this subject's notability or lack thereof). As such, the discussion would benefit from more input for a more accurate close to be discerned relative to Wikipedia's guidelines and policies. North America1000 00:33, 21 October 2016 (UTC)
Question
Hi. I nominated an article for deletion a few weeks ago. You kindly added several more categories to it. The twinkle widget seems to only let me select one when I do the nomination. How do you add more manually after the discussion has been created? I couldn't see any obvious instructions as to how to do this. Scribolt (talk) 09:23, 21 October 2016 (UTC)
- Hi @Scribolt: It appears that you're referring to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Ruspublica. I didn't use Twinkle or add categories; rather, I added deletion sorting notices to the AfD discussion page and posts on the respective deletion sorting pages. I use User:Fox Wilson/delsort to perform this. Regarding AfD categories, only one it typically listed per discussion. See atop Category:AfD debates for a bit more information about the categories.
- The addition of delsort listings can also be performed manually, by listing the discussion at each respective delsort page (using the following example formatting with double brackets: {{Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Ruspublica}}) and then posting the notification template (typically listed atop the delsort pages, e.g. {{subst:delsort|Companies|~~~~}}) to the AfD discussion page. North America1000 07:10, 22 October 2016 (UTC)
- Thanks for the reply (and good detective work on figuring out what I was actually talking about, could have been a bit more specific in my question). Good to know how to do that in future, I don't think I'll be using scripts though, but I think I can probably handle the template should the need arise. Scribolt (talk) 08:40, 24 October 2016 (UTC)
- @Scribolt: Thanks for your reply here as well. North America1000 08:43, 24 October 2016 (UTC)

A7
Sorry, NA, but I don't agree with you on this one: whether "founder of a company" is a claim of importance depends on the company, and in this case, it doesn't add up. I also just deleted the company, as pure spam, and the creator of the biography was already blocked for spamming--their username was the company name. Thanks, Drmies (talk) 21:51, 28 October 2016 (UTC)

Hey North America. I noticed that you visited this page Kutia Lungma Glacier recently. Can you review the page and remove the templae at the top of the page? Thanks (Arif Rizvi (talk) 11:03, 1 November 2016 (UTC))
- Hi @Arif Rizvi: Done. I added a {{refimprove}} template atop the article, because much of the information in the article is not verified with inline citations. North America1000 11:12, 1 November 2016 (UTC)
Thanks for the reply. Every thing written over there is written in the book which I have cited in the reference. Reference no 2 book contains all the information given on the page. (Arif Rizvi (talk) 11:23, 1 November 2016 (UTC))
- @Arif Rizvi: I can't access the book sources, so I am assuming that you wrote it all in your own words. Since you appear to have access to the offline sources, all you have to do is add inline citations to content in the article that is referenced by the sources. North America1000 11:39, 1 November 2016 (UTC)
Yes you are right. I have written most of the content in my own words because the source is not in English language. It is also not available on web because these books are local books and don't have greater outreach (Arif Rizvi (talk) 16:59, 1 November 2016 (UTC)).

The Smart (dishwashing) Wikipedia page deleted?
Hello! Please help me create the Smart (dishwashing), Shield Bath Soap, Star Wax and other products from ACS Manufacturing Corporation, it's deleted from bot instead I'm add links. In Smart (dishwashing), it created by Eric.abiog (Logopedia User) ɔyʀɥs ɴotoʒɑt bulɑɡɑ (Talk to me) 09:37, 02 November 2016 (UTC)
- @Cyrus noto3at bulaga: I may not become involved in creating these product articles. I notice that ACS Manufacturing Corporation was created in the past, but was deleted twice per WP:A7 (no claim of importance) and per WP:G11 once (unambiguous advertising or promotion). An article can still be created if sources exist demonstrating the company's notability (see WP:CORP and WP:GNG, but such article would also need a claim of importance regarding the company and be written in a neutral tone, without promotionalism. If the company article is created, sometimes it's functional to include the company's products and brands in the company article (check out WP:PRODUCT). North America1000 16:54, 2 November 2016 (UTC)

Need suggestion
There's a chance that you might have read the deletion discussions of Dagar and Balhara. If you did, then you already know the issue. Otherwise, please have a look at the Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Dagar.
Other than the points mentioned by me at the Dagar AfD, WP:DISCUSSAFD clearly states that WP:ATD should be considered, which in turn states: "If editing can improve the page, this should be done rather than deleting the page." And that's what I did. ATD also gives the choice of disambiguation.
Now my concern isn't Dagar. But I foresee this sort of issue arising again. That's because few users have noticed some clan categories, which mostly contain non-notable entries. But many people of these clans/tribes are notable. These clans also have villages named after them. e.g. you can see in this revision of Magsi that few minutes of editing have changed it into a valid surname article. In short, many a time, non-notable clan/tribe articles can easily be converted to surname list articles or disambiguation pages, as a part of WP:BEFORE. But those nominators, who are in a hurry to take them to AfD, might not do that. And then the Dagar/Balhara/Magsi AfD situation will arise again.
So, I want to know what should be done when cases like these arise in the future. - NitinMlk (talk) 20:47, 8 November 2016 (UTC)
- Hi @NitinMlk: There's not much one can do to prevent an article from being proposed or nominated for deletion by other users, other than to deprod if you feel the topic/page has merit and its deletion could potentially be considered controversial, or to contribute to AfD discussions for articles/pages nominated for deletion and present your views. However, you can bring matters to people's attention by performing activities such as:
- Discussing matters with users who nominate such articles for deletion
- Start a discussion on relevant WikiProject talk pages (e.g. Wikipedia talk:Noticeboard for India-related topics)
- Initiate a community Requests for comment about matters to obtain community input, and a possible consensus
- I know that Sitush is interested in such articles, so pinging them here; maybe Sitush will have something to add here. North America1000 16:47, 9 November 2016 (UTC)
- Northamerica1000, I am not against anyone's nomination. But I am against the restrictions put on me by a couple of users, as you can see at Dagar's revision history. My point is that one is "free to edit" an article during the AfD & all wiki policies also support that assertion, as I tried to explain at the Dagar AfD or through my previous comment here. If any content dispute arises then that can be resolved at the article's talk page. Now, Dagar & Magsi are valid disambiguation page & surname article respectively. How can I put my this point at their respective AfDs? - NitinMlk (talk) 18:10, 9 November 2016 (UTC)
- Hi @NitinMlk: Normally, such matters are discussed on article talk pages. However, since Dagar is at AfD, that is (in my opinion) the best area to discuss matters at this time. However, you can also post your desired version of the article as a disambiguation page in your sandbox, on a user draft page, or even on the article's talk page and point that out to users at the AfD discussion. You can also provide a link at the AfD discussion to your desired version of the article from the article's Revision history. Don't engage in edit warring, and for pointers, check out the processes outlined at the essay WP:BRD. Just make your points at the AfD discussion, and eventually, an WP:UNINVOLVED administrator or user will close the discussion. North America1000 14:58, 10 November 2016 (UTC)
- First, thanks for the clarification. I guess Dagar AfD was a learning cum embarrassing experience for the involved users. I, for one, won't repeat that behavior.
- Second, please also tell me the correct way of !voting. I mean WP:DISCUSSAFD states that one should !vote as "Disambiguation" – in case they support dab page. But I haven't seen other users !voting like that; they normally !vote as ""keep" as dab page" or something along those lines. So, which one is the correct way? Also tell me whether comments like the one I made at the Magsi AfD are enough to make one's point? - NitinMlk (talk) 16:31, 10 November 2016 (UTC)
- @NitinMlk: To make your intentions clear, you could !vote with a bold lead stating "Convert to disambiguation page". North America1000 17:12, 10 November 2016 (UTC)
- Northamerica1000, Is this correct?
- @NitinMlk: Yes, that should certainly suffice. This way, whoever closes the discussion will very likely completely understand your premise. North America1000 17:23, 10 November 2016 (UTC)

Two-Factor Authentication now available for admins
Hello,
Please note that TOTP based two-factor authentication is now available for all administrators. In light of the recent compromised accounts, you are encouraged to add this additional layer of security to your account. It may be enabled on your preferences page in the "User profile" tab under the "Basic information" section. For basic instructions on how to enable two-factor authentication, please see the developing help page for additional information. Important: Be sure to record the two-factor authentication key and the single use keys. If you lose your two factor authentication and do not have the keys, it's possible that your account will not be recoverable. Furthermore, you are encouraged to utilize a unique password and two-factor authentication for the email account associated with your Wikimedia account. This measure will assist in safeguarding your account from malicious password resets. Comments, questions, and concerns may be directed to the thread on the administrators' noticeboard. New deal for page patrollers
Hi Northamerica1000,
In order to better control the quality of new pages, keep out the spam, and welcome the genuine newbies, the current system we introduced in 2011 is being updated and improved. The documentation and tutorials have also been revised and given a facelift. Most importantly a new user group New Page Reviewer has been created.
Under the new rule, you may find that you are temporarily unable to mark new pages as reviewed. However, this is nothing to worry about - most current experienced patrollers are being accorded the the new right without the need to apply, and if you have significant previous experience of patrolling new pages, we strongly encourage you to apply for the new right as soon as possible - we need all the help we can get, and we are now providing a dynamic, supportive environment for your work.
Find out more about this exiting new user right now at New Page Reviewers and be sure to read the new tutorial before applying. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 04:29, 13 November 2016 (UTC)
Articles for deletion posts
The "delete" votes from SwisterTwister at 06:30, 13 November 2016, 06:32, 13 November 2016 (UTC), and 06:33, 13 November 2016 (UTC) came contiguously after I posted in the same hour in these AfDs. This is concerning because now whenever I post in an AfD, I know it will be immediately be followed by a "delete" vote. Cunard (talk) 06:53, 13 November 2016 (UTC)
- Hi Cunard: Have you considered discussing the matter with the user on their talk page? This is typically the first step to take regarding such concerns. North America1000 07:21, 13 November 2016 (UTC)
- Thank you for the advice, Northamerica1000. I have started a discussion on their talk page. Cunard (talk) 08:00, 13 November 2016 (UTC)
The response was:Hi SwisterTwister. Your "delete" votes in three AfDs came contiguously within 20 minutes of my posting "keep" comments in the same AfDs:
- Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Moov – you posted at 06:30, 13 November 2016. I had posted four minutes earlier at 06:26, 13 November 2016 (UTC).
- Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/RightNetwork – you posted at 06:32, 13 November 2016 (UTC). I had posted 19 minutes earlier at 06:13, 13 November 2016
- Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Mobile Fun – you posted at 06:33, 13 November 2016 (UTC). I had posted 11 minutes earlier at 06:22, 13 November 2016 (UTC).
This is concerning because when I posted in an AfD today, it was immediately be followed by a "delete" vote and made me feel wikihounded (see Wikipedia:Harassment#Wikihounding). How did you find these AfDs? Did you find these AfDs from my contributions? Cunard (talk) 07:59, 13 November 2016 (UTC)
I reviewed Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Moov, Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/RightNetwork, and Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Mobile Fun, and saw no prior involvement from SwisterTwister. I also reviewed the AfDs' associated articles Moov, RightNetwork, and Mobile Fun and saw no prior editing or page review from SwisterTwister. I am unsure what, if anything, to do here. Cunard (talk) 08:27, 13 November 2016 (UTC)As my talk header states, please do not post such violations of WP:AGF, and as it is, I've been voting at AfD all day. I'm voting Delete at advertisements, including ones I had commented at before, and that's all there is to say
- Hi Cunard: Well, it can be difficult to communicate with users who erase your messages, only responding in an edit summary. If you feel that dispute resolution may be a way to address matters, check out the options at Wikipedia:Dispute resolution requests. If you feel that it's a behavioral issue, you can post a request for community input at Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents. North America1000 08:56, 13 November 2016 (UTC)
- Thank you for the advice. I agree that it is difficult to communicate with users who delete your messages and just respond in edit summaries. I have opened a discussion at Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents#SwisterTwister and possible wikihounding at AfD. Cunard (talk) 09:11, 13 November 2016 (UTC)

A new user right for New Page Patrollers
Hi Northamerica1000.
A new user group, New Page Reviewer, has been created in a move to greatly improve the standard of new page patrolling. The user right can be granted by any admin at PERM. It is highly recommended that admins look beyond the simple numerical threshold and satisfy themselves that the candidates have the required skills of communication and an advanced knowledge of notability and deletion. Admins are automatically included in this user right.
It is anticipated that this user right will significantly reduce the work load of admins who patrol the performance of the patrollers. However, due to the complexity of the rollout, some rights may have been accorded that may later need to be withdrawn, so some help will still be needed to some extent when discovering wrongly applied deletion tags or inappropriate pages that escape the attention of less experienced reviewers, and above all, hasty and bitey tagging for maintenance. User warnings are available here but very often a friendly custom message works best.
If you have any questions about this user right, don't hesitate to join us at WT:NPR. (Sent to all admins).MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 13:48, 15 November 2016 (UTC)
New Page Review needs your help
Hi Northamerica1000,
As an AfC reviewer you're probably aware that a new user right has been created for patrolling new pages (you might even have been granted the right already, and admins have it automatically).
Since July there has been a very serious backlog at Special:NewPagesFeed of over 14,000 pages, by far the worst since 2011, and we need an all out drive to get this back down to just a few hundred that can be easily maintained in the future. Unlike AfC, these pages are already in mainspace, and the thought of what might be there is quite scary. There are also many good faith article creators who need a simple, gentle push to the Tea House or their pages converted to Draft rather than being deleted.
Although New Page Reviewing can occasionally be somewhat more challenging than AfC, the criteria for obtaining the right are roughly the same. The Page Curation tool is even easier to use than the Helper Script, so it's likely that most AfC reviewers already have more than enough knowledge for the task of New Page Review.
It is hoped that AfC reviewers will apply for this right at WP:PERM and lend a hand. You'll need to have read the page at WP:NPR and the new tutorial.

Nomination of Lists of songs for deletion
The article will be discussed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Lists of songs until a consensus is reached, and anyone is welcome to contribute to the discussion. The nomination will explain the policies and guidelines which are of concern. The discussion focuses on high-quality evidence and our policies and guidelines.
Users may edit the article during the discussion, including to improve the article to address concerns raised in the discussion. However, do not remove the article-for-deletion notice from the top of the article. StarcheerspeaksnewslostwarsTalk to me 17:38, 19 November 2016 (UTC)
Latest tech news from the Wikimedia technical community. Please tell other users about these changes. Not all changes will affect you. Translations are available.
Recent changes
- Administrators, bureaucrats, oversighters and checkusers can now use two-factor authentication. This makes their Wikimedia accounts more secure. This can be turned on in Special:Preferences. There are discussions on how to best turn it on for everyone. [18]
- You can now search for file properties. For example you can search for media type, how big a file is or what resolution it has. [19]
- The latest Collaboration team products newsletter has been published. It has more details about their work than Tech News has.
Problems
- A hacker group is hacking Wikimedia accounts. They can probably do this because users have the same passwords on Wikimedia wikis as on other sites. Please have a password you use only on the Wikimedia wikis and nowhere else. This is especially important for administrators, bureaucrats, oversighters and checkusers. These users can also turn on two-factor authentication. [20]
Changes this week
- There is no new MediaWiki version this week.
- RevisionSlider will be a default feature on German, Arabic and Hebrew Wikipedia. This will happen on 22 November. It will come to other wikis later. [21][22][23]
Meetings
- You can join the next meeting with the VisualEditor team. During the meeting, you can tell developers which bugs you think are the most important. The meeting will be on 22 November at 19:00 (UTC). See how to join.
Future changes
- It will be possible to do cross-wiki search. The developers who work on this are looking for communities that want to test this. [24]
- Hovercards will leave the beta stage. The Wikimedia Foundation Reading Web team wants communities to set Hovercards as a default option for readers who are not logged in. Communities that are interested can say so on the Hovercards talk page. [25]
