Question from TotallyNotAHamster (22:13, 3 January 2025)
[edit]Hello there! Wikipedia said that I could ask you any questions when it came to edits. Out of curiosity, it it okay to add an honor for an important person if Wikipedia does not mention it? --TotallyNotAHamster (talk) 22:13, 3 January 2025 (UTC)
- @TotallyNotAHamster: The articles can always be improved by making them more complete. However, Wikipedia has a standard of verifiability for the facts in its articles. If you want to add a fact, you must also add a reference to a reliable source. It might help to read the intro article, Help:Referencing for beginners, for help with just how to include references for the honour you propose to be added to the article you wish to edit. Question from Foolish Editor (11:05, 5 January 2025)
[edit]Hello mentor!
Awesome of you to welcome and guide new users to the platform.
I created a talk page here: http://en.wiki.x.io/wiki/Talk:Positive_psychology#Revisit_First_Paragraph
I'm wondering whether I should wait for people to engage with it or proceed with editing. If I make these changes, how should I handle the citations? Is it fine to use the definition with a source citation?
Thanks for your time! --Foolish Editor (talk) 11:05, 5 January 2025 (UTC)
- @Foolish Editor: Well, it's been just 2 days since you posted, so you could wait a little longer to see if there is any response. You can click on "Page views" in the Tools (left column) to see how many watch the page and how many have visited lately. (There are 645 page watchers and 81 visitors have viewed the page in the last 30 days.) Then, there is the principle "Bold-revert-discuss" you might find helpful. Or, in other words, "ask permission", as you have done, or "just do it", and ask forgiveness. There is a helpful article for referencing technique, Help:Referencing_for_beginners, and there is a resource for additional feedback on editing "how to" at the Teahouse. Keep calm and carry on! Question from Milanmicunovic888 (19:25, 21 January 2025)
[edit]How can I publish an article for others to see? --Milanmicunovic888 (talk) 19:25, 21 January 2025 (UTC)
- @Milanmicunovic888: I assume you refer to your draft created today, Draft:Low Taper Fade Meme. As you can see from the notice at the top of the draft, when you are ready to submit it for review, click on the blue button at the bottom right of the notice, labelled "Submit the draft for review!" When you do that, the notice at the top will change, indicating it is waiting to be reviewed. Be aware that there is a backlog, and it could be up to 3 months before the volunteers who review new draft artucles complete their review. You'll be notified on your user account Talk page when the review is complete. If approved, the article will then be published as part of Wikipedia. Geoff | Who, me? 19:41, 21 January 2025 (UTC)
Question from Dawsonisgood123 (01:45, 25 January 2025)
[edit]Hello! I am new and I am working on a draft. I looked at wikipedia's instructions and recommendations and I found that I should ask for review from other editors so before I submit my draft, may you please check it out? (Draft:Matthew Corey) Thank you, have a great evening. --Dawsonisgood123 (talk) 01:45, 25 January 2025 (UTC)
- @Dawsonisgood123: Well, I'm not one of the new article reviewers, but I suspect your draft has issues because it is about an unelected politician. See WP:POLITICIAN. Your article subject would not be notable simply because he ran for office. He must meet the notability requirements outlined in WP:GNG. I don't see significant coverage cited in multiple, independent and reliable sources. Geoff | Who, me? 13:57, 25 January 2025 (UTC)
