Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. This is a message letting you know that one or more of your recent edits to Zack Snyder has been undone by an automated computer program called ClueBot NG.

Please stop reverting the redirects at Spider-Man trilogy and The Amazing Spider-Man (film series), as the articles were created without consensus. A WP:SPLIT is only useful when material at the target differs from the original material, but the text was merely a duplication of Spider-Man in film and a dangerous WP:CONTENTFORK. Alternatively you could formally propose a split (using a split template) and see if there is consensus, although someone tried to start a discussion before at Talk:Spider-Man in film#Development split, with little participation (maybe because they didn't use a template!) --Rob Sinden (talk) 10:24, 30 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Your recent editing history at Suicide Squad (film) shows that you are currently engaged in an edit war. To resolve the content dispute, please do not revert or change the edits of others when you get reverted. Instead of reverting, please use the article's talk page to work toward making a version that represents consensus among editors. The best practice at this stage is to discuss, not edit-war. See BRD for how this is done. If discussions reach an impasse, you can then post a request for help at a relevant noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, you may wish to request temporary page protection.

Being involved in an edit war can result in your being blocked from editing—especially if you violate the three-revert rule, which states that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Undoing another editor's work—whether in whole or in part, whether involving the same or different material each time—counts as a revert. Also keep in mind that while violating the three-revert rule often leads to a block, you can still be blocked for edit warring—even if you don't violate the three-revert rule—should your behavior indicate that you intend to continue reverting repeatedly.
You were told to discuss it, you chose to be a douche about it. Darkwarriorblake / SEXY ACTION TALK PAGE! 22:05, 14 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Hi, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you tried to give Bad (tour) a different title by copying its content and pasting either the same content, or an edited version of it, into another page with a different name. This is known as a "cut-and-paste move", and it is undesirable because it splits the page history, which is legally required for attribution. Instead, the software used by Wikipedia has a feature that allows pages to be moved to a new title together with their edit history.

In most cases, once your account is four days old and has ten edits, you should be able to move an article yourself using the "Move" tab at the top of the page (the tab may be hidden in a dropdown menu for you). This both preserves the page history intact and automatically creates a redirect from the old title to the new. If you cannot perform a particular page move yourself this way (e.g. because a page already exists at the target title), please follow the instructions at requested moves to have it moved by someone else. Also, if there are any other pages that you moved by copying and pasting, even if it was a long time ago, please list them at Wikipedia:Requests for history merge. Thank you. —C.Fred (talk) 19:43, 15 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hello. Please stop adding Armenia to the European Americans template. As it happens to be, we've been through this numerous times, both on the talk page of the article/template itself (amongst other places), as well as on Talk:Armenia. It's not a European country, and the consensus on Wiki is as well that it's an Asian country. It's fully geographically in Asia. Also adding "cultural links" to the note section is a POV based addition and holds no ground, for many regions outside of Europe have links to it. There's no map based on geography that includes it in Europe. Please don't edit this again, otherwise I'll have to request page protection, for this matter is basic triffle for moderators who have to go through this particular matter every once in a while. Afshan Azad

[edit]

Hi, Afshan Azad is of Bangladeshi descent but was born in England. Therefore, unless you're able to provide any evidence that the subject is a Bangladeshi national or has Bangladeshi citizenship, please stop adding Bangladeshi to the lead and categories, regards. Tanbircdq (talk) 12:49, 3 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

"of Bangladeshi descent but was born in England". Exactly. She's a Bangladeshi born in Manchester which makes her Bangladeshi-British (or specifically Bangladeshi-English). I'm also decapitalized the word "actress" and put the categories in alphabetical order. Hopefully this clears things up. Dash9Z (talk) 22:54, 3 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]
No this does not clear things up, Bangladeshi categories should only be used if a subject is of Bangladeshi nationality or citizenship not of Bangladeshi descent. Now you can either revert your changes or I will have no option but to take this to WP:ANI. Tanbircdq (talk) 23:27, 3 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]
They can. The category Bangladeshi diaspora is in the category Bangladeshi people. Nationality does not always equate citizenship and nation does not always equate country. But I did went ahead and removed the Bangladeshi categories. Dash9Z (talk) 00:28, 4 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for doing that. I'll admit my last message may've been a bit heavy-handed so please accept by apologies for that and I'll try to explain it in more detail for you as best I can.
Thank you for doing that. I'll admit my last message may have appeared a bit heavy-handed so please accept by apologies for that and I'll try to give you a more detailed explanation for you as best I can.
WP:OPENPARA states: "In most modern-day cases this will mean the country of which the person is a citizen, national or permanent resident, or if notable mainly for past events, the country where the person was a citizen, national or permanent resident when the person became notable."
The subject was born and brought up in England therefore she is a British citizen, and her parents are from Bangladesh. The subject is both a permanent resident of the UK and has become notable in the UK not Bangladesh. Therefore, "Bangladeshi-English actress and model" is not only misleading but contradictory, and "English actress and model of Bangladeshi descent" is more accurate and appropriate.
Nationality is different from ethnicity. Bangladeshi categories can be used but as I've said there needs to be reliable sources supporting the subject being Bangladeshi (i.e a national, citizen or permanent resident). In absence of this only the country of her birth should be used. If she was born in Bangladesh and moved to England then it would be a different matter. The Category:English people of Bangladeshi descent is used for subjects who are born is England and is of Bangladeshi descent which is what best describes Miss Azad.
Also, adding United Kingdom to the infobox seems to be superfluous as England is already used. Tanbircdq (talk) 12:03, 4 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]
No worries. I accept your apology. I will also explain it in more detail. Bangladeshi-English describes what she is: A Bangladeshi person who is a UK citizen. It is not misleading or contradictory. While she was born and raised in England (hence English in Bangladeshi-English) and became notable in the UK (I would argue worldwide since of the success and outreach of the Harry Potter films), not having Bangladeshi citizenship doesn't erase that part of her (hence Bangladeshi in Bangladeshi-English). I'm not totally against "English actress and model of Bangladeshi descent" but I feel "Bangladeshi-English" gets straight to the point. Here's a definition of nation that does not equate to country: "A large body of people united by common descent, history, culture, or language, inhabiting a particular state or territory." Of course a group of people from the same area can move somewhere else but will still be united by common descent, history, culture, or language. England is not an independent country. It is part of the United Kingdom which is why I added it. In Wikipedia, a person's birthplace usually contains the city, administrative division(s) and country. For instance, if a person's article only had Johannesburg, Gauteng for his/her birthplace and didn't mention South Africa, a person could add it. Dash9Z (talk) 09:28, 6 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

BvS

[edit]

I have restored content you reverted without an explanation for a 2nd time. If there is an issue, start by leaving a comment in the edit summary and consider discussing on my talk page or the article's talk page. No need to edit war over such a minor change, as your edits appear to be favoring your version for no apparent reason as opposed to doing what's best for the article. --GoneIn60 (talk) 04:14, 26 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

You're right, there's no need to edit war over such a minor change which is why I didn't wrote an edit summary since it was minor change. It isn't my version. The lead has been that way for months now (check). I just restored it in my edits. It is the style this film has and other superhero films have (check Man of Steel and Captain America: Civil War articles.). Dash9Z (talk) 08:19, 26 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Two things. The leads for BvS and MoS are not identical in style, so the point about matching styles falls flat. Second, this is obviously a grammar improvement, so there should be no objection to the change. If your only objection has to do with preserving something that has been in place "for months", then that is the wrong reason to simply base a revert on, especially for a third time. I'm going to restore the edit I made once again, but if you still disagree with it, let's lay it out on the article's talk page. I will be glad to break it down step by step, character by character why I made the change and why I believe it is an improvement. If you agree it is a minor change, which it appears you do, then I see no reason why you would feel so adamant about keeping this change out of the article. --GoneIn60 (talk) 04:07, 27 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Just an FYI that the more I thought about this, the more I figured we were way beyond the time of exchanging pleasantries. Three reverts without dropping me a line and with barely an explanation is not a constructive approach. I've started a discussion on the article's talk page. Feel free to comment there. --GoneIn60 (talk) 04:53, 27 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]
No, it doesn't. The style is used not only in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and Man of Steel but also in Avengers: Age of Ultron, Captain America: Civil War, and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. I used those examples in the restoration edit. Since this was the original lead before you changed it and you are the one asking for a change, leave it until it is discussed. The reasoning is not just because it has been that way for months. Nobody seemed to have a problem with it except you. I don't see how it is an obvious "grammar improvement". If it was an obvious grammar improvement, then somebody else would have changed it a long time ago. Dash9Z (talk) 08:26, 27 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Since you are protecting the older version, I invite your comments on the article's talk page at the discussion I've started. In the spirit of WP:BRD and WP:EP#Talking and editing, I perceived this as a minor change, performed a bold edit, and have attempted to discuss. You still haven't explained exactly why you don't agree with the changes. Pointing at a handful of other articles doesn't justify the revert, simply because those other articles could also need similar improvements. Just look at Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Jurassic World, and even Featured Article (FA) The Fifth Element. These are all structured with the director being mentioned prior to the distributor or producer, so clearly there is precedent for the change I'm trying to make, not to mention it's common sense. --GoneIn60 (talk) 08:44, 27 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]
I already told you why. It is not in the style that has been established by other superhero films. There was nothing wrong with it until you came along and decided it was. It is not really an improvement. The examples I shown aren't "a handful of other articles" but other superhero films in cinematic universes which follow the established style. If it was "common sense", then others would have changed it before. Dash9Z (talk) 10:51, 27 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Since you are quick to protect the version undoing any change that comes its way, how do we even know similar attempts at changing it weren't reverted like mine? I think stating that "others would have changed it before" doesn't prove that no one has tried. The problem with sticking to the mantra that other films are this way, is that any attempt to change one of them will result in, "hey, look at the others, they're all this way". Makes it very difficult to obtain consensus, when no one is really saying what they don't like about the change. Looks like I have the support of at least one other editor (diff). I'll give it some time to stew a bit more, and we'll see where it ends up. --GoneIn60 (talk) 15:00, 27 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Cast/characters lists

[edit]

Take a good look at the articles you linked and see the difference from what you put. Notice how they have the name of the actor, followed by the character name, then a colon, then a break and indentation and description. In the beginning (like before the film is released), when there's just a short description, it's just a regular bulleted list with sentence fragments and commas. Then later, when there are longer description, we change it to the break style. I don't revert other editor's edits for no good reason. Trust more experienced, veteran editors to know what they're doing. —Musdan77 (talk) 18:38, 30 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

@Musdan77 The beginning versions of those articles also used the name of the actor, character name, colon and description even when it was just a short description. (See example 1, 2, 3). I also don't revert other editor's edits for no good reason. You said to "Learn to follow WP:BRD, and find out why you're reverted instead of edit warring" while you're the one who started to edit war by reverting my edits without knowing why I reverted your edits. You delinked Wonder Woman and changed the colon to a comma so I relinked Wonder Woman and changed the comma back to a colon in my edits. I wasn't changing it to break style. I do trust you and I'm glad that you took time to come here and explain your reasoning. I'm going to expand the article now which will now use break style since it will have longer descriptions and you can check it out and tell me what you think. Sounds like a plan? Dash9Z (talk) 01:35, 1 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]
1) Well, whoever added those didn't know what they're doing. Definitely not correct grammar/style. (2) On April 27, you made the style change from the correct way it had been from the beginning. The following day, I reverted that along with other corrections such as removing a repeated cite and a repeated link (Wonder Woman was already linked in the previous "Premise" section until someone removed that section—which I'm not sure they should have). Then you went against BRD (and WP:REVEXP, WP:ROWN, etc.) by completely reverting my edit without giving any reason at all. (3) Now, your latest changes are better, but still not quite right. You've got some character descriptions in with cast info in the same paragraphs. If it's a "cast" list then it should have the cast member name, character name, and description all on the top line, then the cast info in the following paragraph. —Musdan77 (talk) 02:54, 1 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]
@Musdan77 1) They are edited by other experienced editors. I don't think it's incorrect grammar/style. Here's some other articles in the beginning. (Guardians of the Galaxy, Avengers: Age of Ultron Doctor Strange) 2) I changed the comma to a colon so it will have the same style like the other films. I also think the premise shouldn't have been removed. Even though characters are linked in the premise, they are also linked in the cast section. I didn't gave a reason because it seemed like an odd edit, almost like vandalism, to delinked the character and removed the periods so I changed it back to the way it was before and the reason you gave was "Clean up and copy edit". But now I know your reasoning. 3) Thanks for acknowledging this edit is better than my previous edit. Character descriptions and cast info do go in the same paragraph. You can go check Man of Steel, Captain America: Civil War and other pages, and they have information such as character description, casting and other info. Dash9Z (talk) 19:02, 1 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]
1) Just because an editor is experienced doesn't mean they know everything. It most definitely is bad grammar -- and goes against MOS. WP:EMBED says that when these are all sentence fragments (as those were), they don't end in a period, and only the first word or proper nouns are capitalized (not the word following the colon -- unless it has "the break"). (2) WP:REPEATLINK says, "A link should appear only once in an article, but if helpful for readers, a link may be repeated in infoboxes, tables, image captions, footnotes, hatnotes, and at the first occurrence after the lead." And since we're talking about a "Cast" list (not a characters list), the cast members should be linked, but not necessarily the characters. You should always give an edit summary, but especially when reverting (and see WP:AGF). (3) I don't watch those articles much (or at all). I could make the correct changes now, but it's harder to do after it's been like that for awhile, than when it's first done. And anyway, we can't really compare articles with each other. Every article follows consensus of the editors on the individual article. —Musdan77 (talk) 22:29, 1 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Justice League 2

[edit]

Up until last night, we all went under the assumption that the titles were "Justice League Part One" and "Justice League Part Two." Now that "part one" has been revealed to just be "Justice League," that means "part two" currently has no title. The Roven interview you referred to happened long before yesterday's revelation. FaceOffTournament (talk) 01:03, 5 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Just like how Justice League Part One comes Justice League Part Two, Justice League comes Justice League 2. We already have an instance of a producer calling it Justice League 2, even if it was before the name of the first film was changed. If they later changed Justice League 2 to a different title, then we'll change it to its new title. Dash9Z (talk) 04:33, 5 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]
"Just like how Justice League Part One comes Justice League Part Two, Justice League comes Justice League 2."

..."Justice League Part One" and "Justice League Part Two" were OFFICIAL working titles, as revealed by WB's initial film slate. "Justice League 2" never was. Your logic is, well, illogical. Every sequel to a movie is casually referred to as "(the movie's name) 2." That doesn't make it the official title and thus shouldn't be advertised as such. As of now, the movie is untitled and will remain untitled until further notice. FaceOffTournament (talk) 05:27, 5 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

@User:FaceOffTournament No need for all caps type screaming. My logic is not illogical. It would have been illogical for me to call the next film Justice League 4 when there has only been one film in the series. Like I said, we have an instance of a producer, Charles Roven, calling the film Justice League 2. When the film does get release and it isn't called Justice League 2 then we'll change it to its correct name. After The Avengers was release and a sequel was announced, people were calling it The Avengers 2, including here on Wikipedia. When the title was revealed to be Avengers: Age of Ultron, the title was changed to the new title. Justice League 2 will be called Justice League 2 until a new title is revealed. @Master of Time Yes, I believe so. I do not think the "don't use USA rule" applies to that situation since it is only mentioning in parentheses how USA is an abbreviation for the United States of America. Dash9Z (talk) 05:49, 11 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Deletion discussion about Swedish New Zealanders

Hello, Dash9Z,

I wanted to let you know that there's a discussion about whether Swedish New Zealanders should be deleted. Your comments are welcome at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Swedish New Zealanders .

Last but not least, you are highly encouraged to continue improving the article; just be sure not to remove the tag about the deletion nomination from the top.

Voting at AfD

[edit]

Hello Dash9Z, when you vote at AfD (Article for Deletion), the convention is that you put your vote at the beginning of the sentence, and make the vote bold. That way, the editor closing the AfD can get an easier overview what the community thinks. Throwing the word 'keep' into the middle of a sentence makes it prone to being overlooked, especially when you indent your contribution; it may then be seen as merely a reply to somebody else's vote. You might want to go back to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Danish New Zealanders and either edit what you previously wrote, or put a new vote "for clarity" at the bottom of the list. Schwede66 18:17, 21 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@Schwede66 Hello Schwede66. Thank you for your concern and help on the article. The sentence I had written was a reply to an editor and not a vote. I wanted the editor to check the additions I had made in the article and reconsider his vote. I will now cast a vote. Dash9Z (talk) 18:32, 21 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Hello, Dash9Z. It has been over six months since you last edited the Articles for Creation submission or Draft page you started, "Batgirl".

In accordance with our policy that Wikipedia is not for the indefinite hosting of material deemed unsuitable for the encyclopedia mainspace, the draft has been nominated for deletion. If you plan on working on it further, or editing it to address the issues raised if it was declined, simply edit the submission and remove the {{db-afc}}, {{db-draft}}, or {{db-g13}} code.

If your submission has already been deleted by the time you get there, and you wish to retrieve it, you can request its undeletion by following the instructions at this link. An administrator will, in most cases, restore the submission so you can continue to work on it.

Thanks for your submission to Wikipedia, and happy editing. TKK! bark with me! 14:42, 11 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I'm RonBot, a script that checks new non-free file uploads. I have found that the subject image that you recently uploaded was more than 5% in excess of the Non-free content guideline size of 100,000 pixels. I have tagged the image for a standard reduction, which (for jpg/gif/png/svg files) normally happens within a day. Please check the reduced image, and make sure that the image is not excessively corrupted. Other files will be added to Category:Wikipedia non-free file size reduction requests for manual processing. There is a full seven-day period before the original oversized image will be hidden; during that time you might want to consider editing the original image yourself (perhaps an initial crop to allow a smaller reduction or none at all). A formula for calculation the desired size can be found at WP:Image resolution, along with instructions on how to tag the image in the rare cases that it requires an oversized image (typically about 0.2% of non-free uploads are tagged as necessarily oversized). Please contact the bot owner if you have any questions, or you can ask them at Wikipedia talk:Non-free content. RonBot (talk) 17:08, 19 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Welcome to Wikipedia, and thank you for your contributions. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, please note that there is a Manual of Style that should be followed to maintain a consistent, encyclopedic appearance. Deviating from this style, as you did in Mark Esper, disturbs uniformity among articles and may cause readability or accessibility problems. Please take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Note "the 27th and current United States secretary of defense" is uncapitalized because "secretary of defense" is preceded by modifiers "27th", "current", and "United States" per MOS:JOBTITLES bullet 3 and table column 2, example 3: "Nixon was the 37th president of the United States."

Note "acting secretary of defense" is uncapitalized because "secretary of defense" is preceded by modifier "acting" per MOS:JOBTITLES bullet 3 and table column 2, example 4: "Nixon was one of the more controversial American presidents."

Note "23rd United States secretary of the army" is uncapitalized because "secretary of defense" is preceded by modifiers "23rd" and "United States" per MOS:JOBTITLES bullet 3 and table column 2, example 3: "Nixon was the 37th president of the United States."

Any proposal for modification to the guideline should be posted at its talk page, WT:MOSBIO. —Eyer (If you reply, add {{reply to|Eyer}} to your message to let me know.) 04:34, 24 July 2019 (UTC) Eyer (If you reply, add {{reply to|Eyer}} to your message to let me know.) 04:34, 24 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Bilateral relation intros

[edit]

Please don't reinsert those stereotyped "X refers to X" lead sentences in bilateral relations articles. They are horribly tautological and as such nonsensical. There is also no "standard" to have them. What there is is a bad habit to have them, because editors can't think of anything better. The problem with bilateral relations articles has always been this: back in the old days, we used to have a smallish number of decently written bilateral relations articles, mostly on those pairs of states where bilateral relations are actually politically notable (like Greek-Turkish relations or Franco-German relations). Then some people came along and mechanically mass-created articles on as many additional pairs as they could think of. In most of these cases, they had nothing interesting whatsoever to say about those relations, so the articles were mostly meaningless stubs full of mechanical boilerplate – just like those lead sentences. Ever since then, well-meaning editors who value uniformity over quality have been going round, seeing all the hundreds of bad stubs, thinking that because of their large number they must form some kind of standard that others should also adhere to, and trying to bring the small remaining number of actually meaningful articles down to the level of the lot. Please don't do that. Fut.Perf. 09:21, 27 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Oh, and please don't use misleading edit summaries [3] like pointing to United Kingdom–United States relations to claim there's an established "standard" for these sentences, when it was you yourself who messed that one up only recently [4]. Fut.Perf. 09:32, 27 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
You've been doing it again. Please understand that here on Wikipedia we discuss when there's a disagreement. Your tactics of silent, slow revert-warring are deeply disruptive and won't be tolerated. This is your last chance to start conducting yourself like a good-faith Wikipedian before I take the issue of your behaviour to ANI for sanctions. Fut.Perf. 11:46, 1 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

An article you recently created, List of Lebanese people in New Zealand, does not have enough sources and citations as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. Edit war warning

[edit]

You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war according to the reverts you have made on United States Department of the Navy. This means that you are repeatedly changing content back to how you think it should be although other editors disagree. Users are expected to collaborate with others, to avoid editing disruptively, and to try to reach a consensus, rather than repeatedly undoing other users' edits once it is known that there is a disagreement.

Points to note:

  1. Edit warring is disruptive regardless of how many reverts you have made;
  2. Do not edit war even if you believe you are right.

If you find yourself in an editing dispute, use the article's talk page to discuss controversial changes and work towards a version that represents consensus among editors. You can post a request for help at an appropriate noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, it may be appropriate to request temporary page protection. If you engage in an edit war, you may be blocked from editing. - wolf 11:07, 17 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hello User:Dash9Z. It looks like you are continuing to revert at List of governors of Puerto Rico in spite of a previous warning about the same thing. It will be to your advantage to respond at the edit warring complaint. The administrator who closes this may consider blocking you from Wikipedia since you don't appear to be paying attention to the warning. The question you are disputing, whether Pedro Pierluisi actually held office as governor from August 2 to 7 in 2019, is suprisingly tricky and it might need a wider discussion. Historically, there are other examples of high officials with short and uncertain tenure. Thank you, EdJohnston (talk) 22:19, 18 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
The complaint at WP:AN3 is now closed with warnings to both of you. If you revert again at List of governors of Puerto Rico without getting a prior consensus in your favor on the talk page you may be blocked. Let me know if you have any questions. EdJohnston (talk) 16:24, 19 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Claude Joseph

[edit]

He wasn't the "acting President" as far as I can determine, and as far as the cited sources say. Maybe at one point the sources referred to him that way, but if so they have been updated. Just as it is incorrect to call the Camerlengo of the Church "acting Pope" during a papal vacancy, the Haitian constitution uses "President of Haiti" only in reference to an elected president. The office of the President is vacant. If you have sources that say otherwise, I'll look at them. Otherwise, do not revert the article. 73.71.251.64 (talk) 18:25, 24 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Question

[edit]

Since all that prior activity, I've noticed you keep going back to... pick at it (like a scab). What is it about that content that bothers you soo much? And why is it you absolutely refuse to discuss it? (At least, on the article talk page that is. You did go and post lengthy and somewhat disingenuous comments on another user's talk page, in what can only be described as a blatant attempt at canvassing). Instead of going back again and again and making these little changes, why don't you just state on the article talk page what your issue is with that content, or ask any questions you have, and I would be more than willing to discuss it with you and finally, hopefully, settle this issue once and for all. - wolf 22:25, 15 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Thewolfchild I went back to the page because I saw that there was a new Under Secretary of the Navy so I checked the United States Department of the Navy article to see if it was updated. By the time I checked the article, someone else had already made similar edits to what I had made. I changed the link from "PTDO" to "Performing the Duties of" so people who clicked on it will know that it stood for. Dash9Z (talk) 00:02, 23 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Europe

[edit]

Hi.

Looking back at changes to the lead of Europe, particular the first paragraph, I noticed that you had improved the opening sentence in 2017.[5] It has subsequently been modified quite a bit.

Today you made two changes to the lead sentences of Europe and Asia without edit summaries.[6] Was there any reason for removing phrases like "westernmost peninsula" or "landmass"? The inline citation is to the EB, with exactly the same words.

If you think that the lead can be tweaked so that it's both compatible with the EB material and meets with consensus, why not discuss that on Talk:Europe? Thanks, Mathsci (talk) 17:44, 23 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@Mathsci Yes, because Europe is more than just the peninsulas (Iberian, Scandinavian, etc.) There are mass areas in Europe that aren't peninsulas and there are islands nearby which are part of Europe. Having it word as the "westernmost peninsula" makes it sound like Europe is just the Iberian, Scandinavian and other peninsulas. Dash9Z (talk) 03:59, 29 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Introduction to contentious topics

[edit]

You have recently edited a page related to the Arab–Israeli conflict, a topic designated as contentious. This is a brief introduction to contentious topics and does not imply that there are any issues with your editing.

A special set of rules applies to certain topic areas, which are referred to as contentious topics. These are specially designated topics that tend to attract more persistent disruptive editing than the rest of the project and have been designated as contentious topics by the Arbitration Committee. When editing a contentious topic, Wikipedia’s norms and policies are more strictly enforced, and Wikipedia administrators have special powers in order to reduce disruption to the project.

Within contentious topics, editors should edit carefully and constructively, refrain from disrupting the encyclopedia, and:

  • adhere to the purposes of Wikipedia;
  • comply with all applicable policies and guidelines;
  • follow editorial and behavioural best practice;
  • comply with any page restrictions in force within the area of conflict; and
  • refrain from gaming the system.

Additionally, you must be logged-in, have 500 edits and an account age of 30 days, and are not allowed to make more than 1 revert within 24 hours on a page within this topic.

Editors are advised to err on the side of caution if unsure whether making a particular edit is consistent with these expectations. If you have any questions about contentious topics procedures you may ask them at the arbitration clerks' noticeboard or you may learn more about this contentious topic here. At State of Palestine you made a bold edit, were reverted with reason and edit warred the material back rather than pursuing WP:BRD. More care is needed in a CT and as an experienced editor you ought to know this. Selfstudier (talk) 20:33, 1 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Your recent editing history at Iberian Peninsula shows that you are currently engaged in an edit war; that means that you are repeatedly changing content back to how you think it should be, when you have seen that other editors disagree. To resolve the content dispute, please do not revert or change the edits of others when you are reverted. Instead of reverting, please use the talk page to work toward making a version that represents consensus among editors. The best practice at this stage is to discuss, not edit-war; read about how this is done. If discussions reach an impasse, you can then request for help at a relevant noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, you may wish to request temporary page protection.

Being involved in an edit war can result in being blocked from editing—especially as the page in question is currently under restrictions from the Arbitration Committee, if you violate the one-revert rule, which states that an editor must not perform more than one revert on a single page with active Arbitration Committee restrictions within a 24-hour period. Undoing another editor's work—whether in whole or in part, whether involving the same or different material each time—counts as a revert. Also keep in mind that while violating the one-revert rule often leads to a block, you can still be blocked for edit warring—even if you do not violate the one-revert rule—should your behavior indicate that you intend to continue reverting repeatedly.--Asqueladd (talk) 19:57, 15 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Asqueladd: I'll go to the talk page. You're the who one who's "Undoing another editor's work—whether in whole or in part, whether involving the same or different material each time". I simply removed unnecessary information and added sources but you're the one who kept on reverting. Dash9Z (talk) 21:30, 15 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Hello! Voting in the 2024 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23:59 (UTC) on Monday, 2 December 2024. All eligible users are allowed to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2024 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. If you no longer wish to receive these messages, you may add {{NoACEMM}} to your user talk page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 00:34, 19 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Synth

[edit]

I'm not too concerned about this and I'll try to remember to find a source for it later, but I just wanted to give you a heads up that your edit at Melania Trump is an example of WP:SYNTH. Sources should explicitly say what they're supporting. If you have to combine facts to prove a statement, then the source on its own doesn't support the claim. Again, this isn't a huge issue here since it's pretty straightforward, but there are cases where this can lead to major original research problems. Just thought it was worth mentioning. 🙂 Thebiguglyalien (talk) 19:50, 21 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Thebiguglyalien: Thank you for message. You're right that this situation is pretty straightforward but there are other situations where it can lead to original research. I'll do my best to avoid those type of situations. Dash9Z (talk) 00:42, 24 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
