He was not in the special forces
[edit]He was not in special forces at anytime during his military career. 47.176.170.194 (talk) 03:17, 25 January 2025 (UTC)
- Saw that, second paragraph--obviously it's locked right now but this:
- "He received the Bronze Star while serving in the special operations forces during a combat deployment to Iraq in 2005."
- needs to be corrected, as it's both inaccurate and completely unsourced by the linked WaPo article (likely because it's completely fabricated) 2603:8080:7400:DF2:5CF:5FD2:602F:B4C3 (talk) 07:25, 28 January 2025 (UTC)

To
“He received the Bronze Star while serving during a combat deployment to Iraq in 2005.”
The mention of serving in special operations forces needs removed. There is no documentation of his service as such as he did NOT serve in special forces.

-on Awards only one Combat Infantry Badge could have been awarded during Pete's service, so no star.
-missing Reserve Components Achievement Medal (probably w/BOLC)
-Armed Forces Reserve Medal missing an "M" for mobilization and I believe a numeral 3. Pete probably is also entitled to wear a Bronze Hourglass device on this medal if he completed ten years reserve component/National Guard service46.110.145.73 (talk) 23:15, 26 January 2025 (UTC)Tim FitzpatrickCite error: There are <ref>

Need to change the CIB to just a CIB. He does not rate two CIB as Iraq and Afghanistan were considered the same...global war on terrorism. I know because I deployed as an infantry man in Afghanistan and Iraq. 2600:1014:B315:1718:9DA6:3D6E:94FA:A18 (talk) 02:25, 27 January 2025 (UTC)
- Your "CIB to CIB" request was not clear, though I gathered that the star for two CIBs is what you meant. I have made the associated update in the List of awards and decorations section, as well as added a sourced note about his also receiving an Expert Infantryman Badge, and that a new Master Combat Badge will represent both. —ADavidB 08:43, 27 January 2025 (UTC)
Is he still a political commentator for Fox News?
[edit]Wonder if he is still a political commentator for Fox news or did he leave fox news entirely I know he left Fox & Friends in 2014 Isla🏳️⚧ 12:12, 27 January 2025 (UTC)
- I highly doubt he'd be working both at fox news and as secretary of defense at the same time. Wikieditor662 (talk) 03:50, 28 January 2025 (UTC)

[edit]Please remove the note next to his name in the intro of the article which says "In the 2023 court case US Dominion, Inc. v. Fox News Network, LLC, Hegseth's name is spelled as Huegseth: "Dominion argues that Ms. Scott, Mr. Wallace, Ms. Petterson, Gavin Hadden (VP of Morning Programming), and three hosts: Will Cain, Pete Huegseth, and Rachel Campos-Duffy, are responsible for the challenged statements made on the Fox and Friends broadcast."
His name is spelled correctly three other times in the document and there's no other source that his name is actually spelled "Huegseth" so it appears to be a typo in the source document.
I think it would also be worth removing "Hegseth's surname was spelled as Huegseth in the case." under Fox News contributor under Return to civilian life. MonsterMash51 (talk) 01:14, 28 January 2025 (UTC)

Special Operations Forces
[edit]To proactively acquiesce questions or concerns, in the U.S. Army, the United States special operations forces are specialized separate units intended to support the United States Army Special Forces. When Hegesth served in the 95th Civil Affairs Brigade in Iraq, during which time he received his Bronze Star, he served in the U.S. special operations forces.[2] Rochambeau1783 (talk) 06:54, 28 January 2025 (UTC)
- The sourced article has no mention of Hegseth serving in an SOF capacity, nor is there any mention of him serving in the 95th Civil Affairs Brigade (likely because he did not serve in the 95th as it wasn't a fully activated brigade until March 2007, when he was no longer in Iraq)
- His award citations are however available in the sourced article, showing one issuance during his time with 3rd Batt, 187th Infantry and the other with the Minnesota National Guard as part of NTM-A/CSTC-A, neither of which support a claim that he "served in" US SOF 2603:8080:7400:DF2:5CF:5FD2:602F:B4C3 (talk) 07:40, 28 January 2025 (UTC)
- The article cites his active duty service as a civil-affairs officer. "Active-duty Civil Affairs Soldiers are part of Special Operations", according to the US Army.[3] Rochambeau1783 (talk) 08:25, 28 January 2025 (UTC)

Under education Officially JFK School of Government Not Harvard is in fact Officially where her went I think this is something that needs to be a MATTER OF fact and since this could allow the fact to be set in stone and IMO seems the school he went to is not the same in any way the same as Harvard University.
CHANGE Harvard University (MPP)

Officially JFK School of Government Not Harvard is in fact Officially where her went
I also would appreciate the credit for correcting.

I would like to point out that after reading noticed accident suddenly the page what was on the page I was on today 17 November 2023 just a year back in his life the page now locked needs such high security.
IMO
This is the real Pete Hegseth 26,793 bytes
http://en.wiki.x.io/w/index.php?title=Pete_Hegseth&oldid=1148569174
The current page Pete Hegseth 82,298 bytes http://en.wiki.x.io/wiki/Pete_Hegseth
Seems to me like an advertisement and overdramatization of the real man a year ago.
What happened in that year to need to what looks to me the page they should revert to is http://en.wiki.x.io/w/index.php?title=Pete_Hegseth&oldid=1148569174
and make all these edits be like I now have to do just to make a actual correction
Is this a fair thing to assume the added 55,500 bytes also may require a more critical and fair the all need to argue the need and reasons why a the same exact man was on TV and famous.
As far as I see it if this is what the Wikipedia I have used since it began to help me know a summery to allow just someone to author a person to sell them.. I just see no reason to trust the pages I read are under true peer review. Scottsdesk (talk) 14:30, 29 January 2025 (UTC)

Change Hegseth resigned from Fox News upon his confirmation as secretary of defense.[54]
TO: Hegseth resigned from Fox News upon his nomimation as secretary of defense.[54] CHis4m8 (talk) 06:46, 30 January 2025 (UTC)
- Can you give reliable source/s that show he resigned after his nomination and not confirmation? Wikieditor662 (talk) 07:49, 30 January 2025 (UTC)
- It seems the article's current source for this (dated November 13) says he had already exited Fox then, not upon his confirmation. This source says his last day at Fox was November 12. —ADavidB 23:10, 30 January 2025 (UTC)
Politician in lead sentence?
[edit]Should this be included in the lead sentence? Are there RS that refer to him as that? How does this work for other folks who aren't really considered politicians but end up in public service positions like Hegseth? Malerooster (talk) 12:56, 30 January 2025 (UTC)
- It depends on the context, career employees are unlikely to be politicians... But everyone with a political appointment is a politician. Horse Eye's Back (talk) 15:31, 30 January 2025 (UTC)
- Let's go with reliable sources. I personally use the word "politician" to refer to elected officials. StAnselm (talk) 17:24, 30 January 2025 (UTC)
- Given that we'd effectively be linking to politician and this is a BLP that seems most relevant and its wider than your own. I think there are two separate questions here though, he can technically be a politician and it also not be due for the first sentence of the lead (which is how I think it currently is)... Even if only because its redundant when we say "who is serving as the 29th United States secretary of defense" Horse Eye's Back (talk) 17:47, 30 January 2025 (UTC)
