Let's see some Wikipedia:Wiknic details for June 25!--Pharos (talk) 00:07, 15 May 2011 (UTC)
Why are two locations listed? Is it undecided or are there two Wiknics? --Ekulio (talk) 02:15, 20 June 2011 (UTC)
- Wrigley Square is part of Millennium Park.--TonyTheTiger (T/C/BIO/WP:CHICAGO/WP:FOUR) 03:03, 20 June 2011 (UTC)
Organization/agenda?
[edit]So, are we going to have some sort of agenda that we're going to follow, or how is the meetup going to be organized? If nothing else, I can organize something or come up with some topic which may be relevant. I also have a few "Welcome to Wikipedia" newcomer booklets that I got from my last meetup I attended in NYC, if we get few newcomers that show up. –MuZemike 23:38, 20 June 2011 (UTC)
- It's a picnic. There is no planned meeting. Just come and be festive.--TonyTheTiger (T/C/BIO/WP:CHICAGO/WP:FOUR) 00:02, 21 June 2011 (UTC)
- Well, it would be nice if you could also take advantage of the occasion to chat a bit about whatever local educational/cultural outreach projects that the Chicago tusk of the WALRUS committee might pursue :)--Pharos (talk) 04:48, 22 June 2011 (UTC)
- Good events to start with might be a Wikipedia:Wikipedia Takes Your City or Wikipedia:Workshop.--Pharos (talk) 20:44, 22 June 2011 (UTC)
Foodz
[edit]So should I bring something to eat/drink? I'm coming down from MKE so I can't imagine I can bring anything homemade; though I could bring coke or pepsi or whatever. Protonk (talk) 19:31, 22 June 2011 (UTC)
- Since it is a wicnic, I would bring picnic type stuff. If this were a cookout or something, it would be different. I think picnics, involve prepared foods moreso than barbeques and cookouts. My thinking was that this would be a good place for a picnic, although it would not be a good place for a cookout. The park rules are online. See the park's picnic planning link.--TonyTheTiger (T/C/BIO/WP:CHICAGO/WP:FOUR) 19:59, 22 June 2011 (UTC)
To anyone coming in on the Metra
[edit]Due to the Taste of Chicago going on, bikes won't be allowed on the Metra during this weekend (including no alcohol allowed on the train after 7:00pm, which is not terribly relevant), including tomorrow. Also, the schedules are slightly changed; [1] has the list of changes to the schedules for all the lines. –MuZemike 22:49, 24 June 2011 (UTC)
I don't know what anyone looks like!
[edit]The only person I'd recognize is orangemike. If you are in the square now and you see a dude with a beard and a green shirt, say hi! Protonk (talk) 18:23, 25 June 2011 (UTC)
- I was totally thrown off by the wedding. I just left when I saw it happening because I couldn't find anybody (I figured Orangemike would be a clear marker, and I didn't see him). I shouldn't have arrived so late. :P --Starstriker7(Talk) 23:39, 25 June 2011 (UTC)
- While my picture is here, Ragesoss managed to get a really good one of me back from last year's NYC Wiki-conference here. –MuZemike 01:29, 26 June 2011 (UTC)
- I'm bummed we missed you, Starstriker! The wedding was setting up about the time that a couple-three of us had to head out anyway, to Milwaukee and St. Louis. A giant puzzleball on a stick or something would have served as a useful rallying point. --Orange Mike | Talk 16:36, 27 June 2011 (UTC)
- That sounds like an excellent idea. It should make next time tons easier. :) --Starstriker7(Talk) 07:52, 1 July 2011 (UTC)
Join Wikipedia Loves Libraries with a local wiki-event in October!
[edit]With the recent experience of the Great American Wiknic in June, we'd like to invite you to join the exciting sequel: Wikipedia Loves Libraries. Please add your ideas for a local librarycentric wiki-event to the national page :)--Pharos (talk) 02:03, 4 August 2011 (UTC)
