CVUA Coord
Congrats, Theo! I mean that in the most sincere way possible. You, and the entire Academy will do good things. I just want to let you (and Dan, who I'm sure is Watchlisting this page) that since you're promotion, I'm going to be de-Watchlisting the CVUA pages as part of a self-imposed topic WikiBreak. You will definitely see me back, when I'm not sure, but until then, if I'm needed, just drop me a User Talk message and I'd be more than happy to stop in and give a 3rd Opinion on an issue. You'll do us all well, as you have been. We can only hope that a similiar transfer of power happens when The Big Founder decides to hand in the keys. Achowat (talk) 17:20, 19 July 2012 (UTC)

And I'm sure I'll spam up your talk at some point. Again, many thanks, and, as they say, "you'll go far." That I can guarantee. Theopolisme TALK 17:22, 19 July 2012 (UTC)
Welcome to the Teahouse!
Hi Theo! Thank you for signing up to be a future host at the Teahouse. Well, great news - the future is here: we'd love you to be a Teahouse host! Teahouse hosts do more than just answer questions. A few things we'd love to see you do as a Teahouse host:
- First, declare your Hostness! Add yourself to the Host page! This page is where new editors and your fellow hosts can learn about you and get in touch with you easily if needed. By signing up here you declare that you know how to serve up a great cup of tea. Add yourself here.
- Invite new users with our invite guide. Please invite new users to the Teahouse! At that guide you'll find some tips on how to invite. It's super important; we have plenty of Wikipedians answering questions, but not enough asking the questions!
- Visit the tips page. The tips page provides you some basic tips on how to engage with visitors at the Teahouse. We have a special way of doing things - unlike other areas of Wikipedia! (Such as greeting new editors with a simple "Hi!" and being as easy to understand and friendly as possible.)
- Join the conversation by participating on the host lounge talk pages. We also have an IRC channel now for hosts to get to know one another, develop your skills, and eventually the channel will serve as an additional help space for new editors!
- To visit the IRC channel: #wikipedia-teahouse connect (Feel free to ask me for help if you're having trouble connecting!)
- Participate in developing the Teahouse further by getting involved in phase two. Learn more here.
I'm so happy that you volunteered to lend a hand at the Teahouse. I look forward to following your contributions and invitations, and your assistance in making the Teahouse a great and warm place for new Wikipedians. See you there :) Sarah (talk) 18:06, 19 July 2012 (UTC)

Editing Placement related lines from article " Narula Institute of Technology"
You are constantly editing to show that the placement is good. Have you ever talked to a single student of the college. 99% student of the college will tell you how bad the condition is. I have written the truth and do not have any intentions otherwise. I could have written about the constant strike in the college related to placements. You are polluting such a reputed place like Wikipedia with your edits. This is a place where people look for facts and truth. This is not a place for advertisements. The owners of the college are making huge huge profits and the students after graduation do not have a job and many poor students are also left with debt due to the loan they took for paying fees. " placement is Good" by writing this you are destroying the careers of thousands of students who come to the college in the hope that after graduation, they will get job. If you tell any student of the college placement is good, he will assume you spoke sarcastically. I wish wikipedia had some mechanism to investigate the truth. Arvindkejriwal (talk) 03:11, 28 July 2012 (UTC) arvind
- Hi Arvind, thanks for getting in touch - first of all, please do not make personal attacks at other editors - it is against Wikipedia policy. However, on to your question - what you said in your final sentence, "I wish wikipedia had some mechanism to investigate the truth," hits the nail on the head - the reason I removed your edits was because they had no mechanism to investigate the truth, ie, they had no references to back their claims! If you can find sources online or in print that back your claims, then rest assured that they will not be removed. Thanks, and please let me know if you have any other questions! Theopolisme TALK 10:25, 28 July 2012 (UTC)

Sorry for personal attack, The fact about placement is not correct, i have talked to more than 100 students to gather info on placements. The placement of the college is not good. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Arvindkejriwal (talk • contribs) 13:24, 28 July 2012 (UTC)
Unconstructive edit?
I think, if you look objectively, you'll find my edit in fact was constructive. A wiki-link to a section of another article led nowhere, because that information had since been removed. My edit made the link actually go to the referenced information. The reversion has turned this back into a dead wiki-link that leads nowhere. This was not a test edit to be done in a sandbox, this was me attempting to improve the article. Seriously, have another look - the *reversion* of my edit has been unconstructive, as it has removed information and reinstated a link to nowhere, and links to nowhere are never useful. I will for now revert, but I won't do so again as I don't wish to engage in an edit war and if this issue is in any way controversial then there should really be some consensus made, even if it's un-wiki-linking the term in question (which your reversion did not do). 213.104.79.110 (talk) 11:54, 28 July 2012 (UTC)
- Sorry, just for clarity - my edit to A Deepness in the Sky. 213.104.79.110 (talk) 11:56, 28 July 2012 (UTC)
- Hey, thanks for getting in touch - the reason I reverted your edit was because you are not supposed to link to specific diffs of a Wikipedia page - this makes oit so that content on them may (will) go out of date, not be able to have the latest fixes, etc, etc - would a link just to A Deepness in the Sky not suffice? I know while it may not be ideal, it may be the best path to take now - another option is have you considered writing a Zones of Thought article? Thanks! Theopolisme TALK 12:01, 28 July 2012 (UTC)
- A link to A Deepness in the Sky would unfortunately not be sufficient, as the article no longer covers the "Zones of Thought" concept in a way that explains it at all. I must admit it's one of my pet peeves when an article links to a section of another article that no longer exists - another one is when fairly important parts of articles get cut for being "too detailed", when the cuts (not always, but fairly often) leave the article poorer. I doubt a standalone "Zones of Thought" article would survive - would probably be AfD-ed pretty quickly. Also, sorry if I was a bit annoyed in tone to my response, but the non-specific boiler-plate "unconstructive edit" notice irked me slightly. I'm actually a long time contributor, just hadn't bothered to log in today (I'm User:Xmoogle). Actually, I've been thinking maybe there should be a change in policy on these things - I can see how an article getting overly long is problematic, but many parts cut from articles just wouldn't stand up as separate articles - so what if policy was changed so that things like "Zones of Thought" could exist in the namespace at A Deepness in the Sky/Zones of Thought? That way, the main article could remain uncluttered, but more detailed descriptions of things to do with the article that weren't notable enough outside the topic of the article (as in, don't really deserve a standalone article) could be expanded on. Then again, I personally think the cuts to A Deepness in the Sky were a little excessive. 213.104.79.110 (talk) 12:24, 28 July 2012 (UTC)
- ...Just to prove 213.104.79.110 is me, and not some random anon claiming to be :) Xmoogle (talk) 12:26, 28 July 2012 (UTC)
- Xmoogle - hey. Yeah, I'm rather bugged by STiki's default warning templates - and now that you mention it I may bring it up at the WT:STiki page - sadly I'm on a Mac and the Huggle for Mac hack still isn't really working.. still waiting for an official version. Why not just readd the Zones of Though section? I don't think anyone would shoot you, and if some rm's it again then just bring it up @ the talk. Theopolisme TALK 15:00, 28 July 2012 (UTC)

Narula Institute of Technology
I had provided a link to a document named " mandatory disclosure" which is a declaration about the various info on the college by the college itself and is available on the college website itself. The link was unfortunately removed. The format and contents of this document are defined by AICTE ( All India Council For Technical Education) the body which certifies and gives guidelines to many engineering colleges in India. AICTE is under Government of India. The main purpose of this document is to bring transparency. The document gives all the info like infrastructure, faculty, placement, intake of students and other info about the college. Orphaned non-free media (File:Adobe Shadow Logo.gif)
Thanks for uploading File:Adobe Shadow Logo.gif. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Hazard-Bot (talk) 04:45, 29 July 2012 (UTC)

SPI
Hi. Just to let you know you've been mentioned in a Sockpuppet report, at Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Rolandhelper. (I'm not suspecting you, but just curious about your involvement with a serial sock puppeteer). -- Boing! said Zebedee (talk) 08:59, 31 July 2012 (UTC)
- Thanks for watching out. The only reason I was involved at all was because I was doing some NPP'ing - saw the Adobe Shadow page - made a few copy-edits, added an image, and then slapped a welcome template on the sock's (who I didn't know at the time was one, of course) page... in my usual rather rhythmic fashion. Little while later, I happened to be scrolling through the SPI Cases pages and saw the Roland Helper one - of course my mind flashed back to "Adobe Roland" and I reported him on the SPI Case. Then, a bit later, the Adobe Shadow page was G5'd - I sent a request to the deleting admin to have it userfied, as I wanted to fix it up and add to it as I was trying to finish out the Adobe Creative Suite template redlinks... and there I was. Rather long and complicated story, but hey - what else are you supposed to do during a commercial break in the Olympics? Thanks- Theopolisme TALK 15:14, 31 July 2012 (UTC)
- Thanks for letting me know all that - looks like you're doing great work on the NPP front. I always think it's tough when we see socks doing some good and some bad stuff - don't like removing the good stuff, but can't risk leaving bad stuff, and really want to try to make them go away. Anyway, thanks again for the details - now, back to the Olympics to see if Team GB can win a medal in the Morris Dancing (or whatever it is we're good at these days :-) -- Boing! said Zebedee (talk) 17:42, 31 July 2012 (UTC)

CVU
Hi. I just want you to know that all your personal hard work on various aspects of CVU is highly appreciated. I watch the developments carefully but don't want appear as an interference by chiming in there. I would however mention that I also share the concerns expressed by some that the project may be becoming a tad bureaucratic. It's interesting to note that that WP:NPP, a system that is in every way as important as counter vandalism (but different), has never needed the same complex project infrastructure, but it certainly has endemic problems with new and/or inexperienced users who could do with some training, but it seems to be improving (slowly). We'll know more when the new NewPagesFeed prototype goes live. --Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 03:28, 3 August 2012 (UTC)

I also agree that the high levels of bureaucracy are really too much - especially on the CVUA Front (I don't think there's really any in the other parts of the CVU, which is good!) and I think this is something we need to try to end - but as people settle into their "instructing" - which is the key part of the Academy - I think that the goals of some of the instructors to become "coordinators"/other unneeded arbitrary positions will disappear and the Academy will become what it was always meant to be - just a place for new counter-vandals to learn the ropes. Thanks! Theopolisme TALK 14:21, 3 August 2012 (UTC)
- BTW, I never had any aspirations to become the coordinator. Achowat nominated me and I really didn't care. Electric Catfish 14:32, 3 August 2012 (UTC)
- No worries, Catfish. Theopolisme TALK 14:34, 3 August 2012 (UTC)

- I think the main thing to remember is that at Wikipedia anyone can be an 'instructor' or a coordinator without the need to pass through an arbitrary system imposed by an unofficial project group, although they should of course have lots of clue, a good knowledge of how Wikipedia works, and plenty of maturity - things that only come with extensive experience. It's not as if these 'positions' carry any authority at all. I'm a coordinator of some really big projects here (including the NPP which doesn't even have or need an official coordinator), but all coordinators do is keep everyone informed, keep the talk pages and lists correctly formatted, and occasionally move comments to the right places. Things like needing to create a category to keep track of one's own project pages are probably largely superfluous. See this for an example of an architecture of a well organised, very large project I created. All that said, I'm seriously looking into possible solutions for ensuring real competency of patrollers once the new New Page Patrol system goes live, and that's one of the reasons why I am watching the development of your CVU/A so closely. I'm sure I can learn something from it. Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 15:33, 3 August 2012 (UTC)
Lowcountry Highrollers is listed on the target dab page; see also Google.
This is surely preferable to redirecting Highrollers to Lowcountry Highrollers and placing a hatnote on the latter. Thanks. 92.40.44.55 (talk) 15:45, 3 August 2012 (UTC)
- Done, thanks for clarifying. :) Theopolisme TALK 15:51, 3 August 2012 (UTC)

In response to your barnstar
Thank you for the barnstar! Channeling my inner sarcastic puma leader is one of my keys to not burning out on Wikipedia. I have a project that's pretty secret right now for DoF called "The WikiVerse" and there's going to be a whole article about the Wikipedian-Uncyclopedian War. You can see it soon! - My rollback flag was removed once and later it was marked as a grey area (I feel it was a black area with 10 sock accounts involved) and my rollback flag was restored within 12 hours, I have not mentioned it in CVUA. Do I need to mention? Details here User_talk:Titodutta/Archive_16#Misuse_of_rollback --Tito Dutta ✉ 04:10, 4 August 2012 (UTC)
