- Do a search on Google or your preferred search engine for the subject of the Wikipedia article that you want to create a citation for.
- Find a website that supports the claim you are trying to find a citation for.
- In a new tab/window, go to the citation generator, click on the 'An arbitrary website' bubble, and fill out as many fields as you can about the website you just found.
- Click the 'Get reference wiki text' button.
- Highlight, and then copy (Ctrl+C or Apple+C), the resulting text (it will be something like
<ref> {{cite web | .... }}</ref>
, copy the whole thing). - In the Wikipedia article, after the claim you found a citation for, paste (Ctrl+V or Apple+V) the text you copied.
- If the article does not have a References or Notes section (or the like), add this to the bottom of the page, but above the External Links section and the categories:
==References== {{Reflist}}

[edit] Hello, I'm TornadoLGS. I wanted to let you know that I removed one or more external links you added to the main body of Property management. Generally, any relevant external links should be listed in an "External links" section at the end of the article and meet the external links guidelines. Links within the body of an article should be internal wikilinks. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. - Thanks TornadoLGS
- I got your point. I have added a citation for the same which I believe is the more appropriate linkage. Techsharp (talk) 04:38, 7 February 2025 (UTC)
- Hi, I've removed this as it is a commercial site and not a reliable, independent source. Tacyarg (talk) 07:02, 7 February 2025 (UTC)
- Hi Tornado LGS
- We still believe it's a useful external link. How do I add this in the "External Links" section. I do not see an External Links section on this page. It's a very comprehensive information which includes all aspects of Property Management and over 30,000 words around it. Techsharp (talk) 00:18, 10 February 2025 (UTC)
- It's an obvious advertisement, there isn't a way to add it to an external links section - Wikipedia does not link to ads. MrOllie (talk) 00:40, 10 February 2025 (UTC)

Please do not add inappropriate external links to Wikipedia. Wikipedia is not a collection of links, nor should it be used for advertising or promotion. Inappropriate links include, but are not limited to, links to personal websites, links to websites with which you are affiliated (whether as a link in article text, or a citation in an article), and links that attract visitors to a website or promote a product. See the external links guideline and spam guideline for further explanations. Because Wikipedia uses the nofollow attribute value, its external links are disregarded by most search engines. If you feel the link should be added to the page, please discuss it on the associated talk page rather than re-adding it. [1] MrOllie (talk) 00:29, 10 February 2025 (UTC)
Please stop. If you continue to add inappropriate external links to Wikipedia, you may be blocked from editing. It is considered spamming and Wikipedia is not a vehicle for advertising or promotion. Because Wikipedia uses nofollow tags, additions of links to Wikipedia will not alter search engine rankings. MrOllie (talk) 00:37, 10 February 2025 (UTC)
