Typhoon Vamco (2020)
[edit]Hey, Sparryx! Just dropping in to say that references are no longer needed for typhoon names. Since your edit isn't problematic, though, I'll keep it in. Thanks for your contributions, and welcome to Wikipedia! --Chlod (say hi!) 07:05, 12 November 2020 (UTC)
- Ohhh! I was wondering about that. Thank you very much for letting me know. I'll probably keep adding stuff here. I wanted to keep this updated because I'm sure there's going to be lots of coverage later on, and I didn't want stuff to get completely forgotten. - Sparryx (talk) 07:15, 12 November 2020 (UTC)
- Sure thing! In case you want to work more on the typhoon preparations and impact, there's a style guide for storm articles on WikiProject Tropical cyclones that you might want to take a look at. Chlod (say hi!) 07:19, 12 November 2020 (UTC)
- I could use advice actually. I just edit references using the automatic reference generator on Wikipedia's visual editor. It seems to always produce output that conflicts with wiki's Manual of Style. Is there any way to fix the references more efficiently? - Sparryx (talk) 07:41, 12 November 2020 (UTC)
- I don't really see how the references can conflict with the MOS since references are usually wrapped in
<ref>
tags, which makes the references appear separately from prose. The only possibly MOS issue is when the reference is put before punctuation instead of after. Maybe you can tell more about the problem? Chlod (say hi!) 07:50, 12 November 2020 (UTC)- Well, every time I add a reference, someone like you has to come in and fix stuff like dates. I just don't want to be a bother.- Sparryx (talk) 07:52, 12 November 2020 (UTC)
- Ah, that's just a normal issue. All the references are generated automatically, so the references won't be the best unless the website itself provides correct information. This causes a bunch of problems especially with websites with bad metadata, like articles from the Philippine News Agency. Manually fixing it is the only way, but it's not really that hard since you can do it from Visual Editor instead of having to switch into the source editor. Chlod (say hi!) 08:01, 12 November 2020 (UTC)
- Now that I think about it, you can actually write your own translator for the service Wikipedia uses for citations. But that's only if you have experience with software development, so it might be a bit complicated. Chlod (say hi!) 08:11, 12 November 2020 (UTC)

Additional impact information on Goni?
[edit]I see that you added a reference regarding the involvement of ABS-CBN in typhoon news coverage. Typhoon Goni (2020) (a.k.a. Super Typhoon Rolly) was a more impactful storm that hit after the shutdown, so can you please also put that in Rolly's impact. Thanks a lot! Chlod (say hi!) 09:40, 12 November 2020 (UTC)
Mataasnakahoy
[edit]Heya S. I saw your edit on Mataas Na Kahoy and was inspired to search for similar sources for etymology. I added a new reference but created a new section for the etymology. I'd really encourage you to make these edits as new sections which can be expanded later, since they cover major aspects of the article. Anyway. I'll make one or two more edits and then leave you to it! Nice too see you're still doing this, although I suppose that makes sense after all the fun we had at the last editathon. Cheers! - Chieharumachi (talk) 14:01, 25 July 2021 (UTC)
- Oh! Hello Chie! Yes, I looked at the page you found it's much more comprehensive. Thank you! I'll probably add the legend in my next edit. Hehe. Life keeps me very busy nowadays. - Sparryx (talk) 14:14, 25 July 2021 (UTC)
