Another account?

[edit]

Hi,
Have you edited wikipedia before, perhaps with another account? bobrayner (talk) 18:52, 5 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, no, not the English wikipedia, but the Albanian one, with the account Sportishqiptar back in 2011. I happen to know the English wiki policies well, as I translated many of them in Albanian back then. --Perkohesisht ai i vjetri (talk) 19:03, 5 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Sources

[edit]

Hello,

I noticed you reinserted unsourced (diff) text about ethnicity of children on the image. Are you able to present verifiable reliable source which confirms that ethnicity of children on the picture is Albanian?--Antidiskriminator (talk) 00:22, 6 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

So when you take a picture of a person, and you upload it in commons, you need sources to also verify their ethnicity? What reliable source would you need for that? Also, there are 14 pictures of Albanians in that article, why did you need reliable sources for that one? Is it a concern that you have for minors having an image in wikipedia against their will? If so, and it is a valid concern, I would recommend you go to Commons and raise that concern, but don't ask me for sources of a picture, which I have not uploaded. The photographer says that it was taken in Northern Albania, and having been there, I don't find anything odd. Can it have been taken somewhere else? Possibly. In Slovakia, or Russia? Maybe. But we go with good faith in Wikipedia. --Perkohesisht ai i vjetri (talk) 00:28, 6 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
No. I did not mention commons nor description of the image supports the assertion you added. That is why I asked you a simple question: Are you able to present verifiable reliable source which confirms that ethnicity of children on the picture is Albanian? Please be so kind to answer my question.--Antidiskriminator (talk) 00:56, 6 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I think I answered your question and I'll reformulate for you so that you have no doubts. No, I can't. And for that matter I can't do that for hundreds of thousands of pictures which are not sourced in Wikipedia. If I am a biologist and I take a picture of a certain type of flower, how do I prove that's the flower in question? Is every flower in the world notable to have sources? Are those 6 children in the wikipedia notable to have sources? Probably not. --Perkohesisht ai i vjetri (talk) 01:02, 6 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I made some research and found a source where the girl has a similar outfit to the one in the article in question, probably it's worth you see it. [1]. In Albania little girls in elementary schools have a mandatory black uniform, covered with white ornaments on top. That it thought to help them focus on studying rather than on other tipics, such as fashion. --Perkohesisht ai i vjetri (talk) 03:05, 6 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
There is a policy WP:VERIFY which says: "All material in Wikipedia mainspace, including everything in articles, lists and captions, must be verifiable." It also says: "In Wikipedia, verifiability means that people reading and editing the encyclopedia can check that the information comes from a reliable source." Please revert your reinsertion (diff) of the unsourced and unverifiable text about the ethnicity of children on the image.--Antidiskriminator (talk) 08:19, 6 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
The policy on verifiability doesn't specify anything on images, though. For images, you may read this guideline, which quotes "Generally, Wikipedia assumes in good faith that image creators are correctly identifying the contents of photographs they have taken. If such sources are available, it is helpful to provide them". Have a good day sir! --Perkohesisht ai i vjetri (talk) 15:13, 6 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Transposed this discussion in the talk page of the article. Please use that talk page for future discussions about that article. --Perkohesisht ai i vjetri (talk) 15:17, 6 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Can you please explain where the image creator identified children on the image as ethnic Albanians?--Antidiskriminator (talk) 17:20, 6 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
See under "Description" in this link. Perkohesisht ai i vjetri (talk) 17:40, 6 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
It does not mention ethnicity.--Antidiskriminator (talk) 17:56, 6 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
"Albanian children" is not ethnicity? Why so? Perkohesisht ai i vjetri (talk) 17:58, 6 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
The first sentence of the Albanians explains why. --Antidiskriminator (talk) 18:11, 6 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Removed "ethnic". Perkohesisht ai i vjetri (talk) 22:32, 8 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

New editor?

[edit]

Are you a new editor or returning old one?--Antidiskriminator (talk) 17:25, 6 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I already answered this question at the top of the page. Also see my user page. Perkohesisht ai i vjetri (talk) 17:40, 6 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I checked at Albanian wikipedia. You had less than 1,000 edits over the period of about one month, more than two years ago. Your edits indicate you are experienced user. Are you sure you have not edited en.wiki before?--Antidiskriminator (talk) 18:02, 6 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks but I wouldn't consider myself an experienced user, however those edits that you saw in sqwiki were very hard work and I had to go over a lot of enwiki policies and guidelines to prep them for sqwiki. I was also involved in sqwiki in the preparation of good articles and featured articles, which I carefully reviewed. I consider myself more of a lazy contributor, and an avid reader. Probably you mistook my assertive style for experience in wikipedia? Or are you confusing me with someone else? Perkohesisht ai i vjetri (talk) 18:08, 6 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Its not about style. Its about something which probably could be referred to as modus operandi. Albanization of non-albanian names, attributing Albanian ethnicity, Albanian nationalistic mythology,... Interaction analysis shows that you are following my edits. In discussions you are joining discussions on multiple pages or topics I edit and repeatedly confront or inhibit my work which culminated into ridiculing. This made editing Wikipedia unpleasant for me and may discourage me from further editing. I would appreciate if you would refrain from such activities in future. --Antidiskriminator (talk) 20:37, 10 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Hm, I have mostly a problem with your sources, which are in Serbian and I have to google translate them into English, and you have edited lots of articles about Albania with Serbian sources (you should have provided translation there, and I may start helping), that's why I am following you a little bit. It is no intention of mine to ridicule you. If all this activity is unpleasant to you, I'm going to refrain, but not from the two request moves. I joined the English wikipedia because I saw that the google hits were being used as a wrong argument, and I intend to continue showing that. Also, please be careful because you are accusing me of things it will be difficult for you to demonstrate. Me using any Albanian nationalist mythology is an invention of yours, and so is the albanization of non-albanian names. I was trying to englicize Gjergj Pelini, not albanize him, remember? Also, you said that the saint names in Albanian are a derivation from Serbian, which is also a very staunch Serbian nationalist statement and an affront to the Albanian people and culture, for which you may repent in the future. --Perkohesisht ai i vjetri (talk) 20:41, 10 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Another fallacy. This time straw man. No mention of saints there. I don't think this discussion will have any productive result. This is my last comment in this discussion with you. All the best. --Antidiskriminator (talk) 20:57, 10 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
What fallacy? All the names that you mentioned (George, John, Andrew, and Nicholas), are diffused names in the Christian world, and have various forms in various languages. That doesn't mean that in the Albanian language those names are derivations from the Serbian language (because that's what you said, although at this point I'm not sure anymore what you meant). --Perkohesisht ai i vjetri (talk) 21:10, 10 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Antidiskriminator, please don't pretend that it's bad for somebody to follow your edits. It's a Good Thing. bobrayner (talk) 16:19, 11 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Ramize Gjebrea, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Communist Party of Albania (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Sock activity

[edit]

Before I proceed to the wp:spi, due to the extremely atypical pattern for a newby, I need to ask if you are a reincarnation of another user. (Mondiad for example)Alexikoua (talk) 14:53, 12 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Alexikoua, before accusing somebody of being a sock, I would recommend looking at some evidence. For instance, requested moves are an easy place to spot sockpuppetry in the Balkans (because people like to stack votes), but Mondiad did not comment on any of the requested moves that Perkohesisht ai i vjetri was involved with. Did you have somebody else in mind? I take great pride in evidence-based SPIs - you would be surprised what diffs are out there ;-) bobrayner (talk) 15:40, 12 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I have interacted with Bob and Antidiskriminator, but I don't remember having interacted with Alexikoua. I saw lots of articles you have worked with and I have no clue why you are asking me the same questions as Bob or Antidiskriminator. No, I have no relationships with Mondiad: I have seen his good contributions, but we are unrelated. --Perkohesisht ai i vjetri (talk) 18:50, 12 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Albanization of names

[edit]

I noticed that you continued to Albanize names on wikipedia. You renamed Drsnik to Dërsnik although there are zero English language GBS hits which support such attempt. To justify your actions you used ethnicity that people who currently live in Drsnik decided to declare. That is false argument which can not justify your activities. Please be so kind not to continue with your activities aimed to Albanize names on wikipedia without appropriate policy based arguments.--Antidiskriminator (talk) 17:00, 13 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

(talk page stalker) Antidiskriminator, please stop these personal attacks. bobrayner (talk) 20:09, 13 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
