Welcome to Wikipedia from the Medicine WikiProject!
[edit]Welcome to Wikipedia from WikiProject Medicine (also known as WPMED).
We're a group of editors who strive to improve the quality of medical articles here on Wikipedia. I noticed that you are interested in editing medical articles, such as your edits to the article Abbott Laboratories; it's great to have a new editor on board. In your wiki-voyages, a few things that may be relevant to editing Wikipedia articles are:
- Thanks for coming aboard! We always appreciate a new editor. Feel free to leave us a message at any time on our talk page. If you are interested in joining the project yourself, there is a participant list where you can sign up. Please leave a message on the WPMED talk page if you have any problems, suggestions, would like review of an article, need suggestions for articles to edit, or would like some collaboration when editing!
- Sourcing of medical and health-related content on Wikipedia is guided by our medical sourcing guidelines, commonly referred to as MEDRS. These guidelines typically require recent secondary sources to support information; their application is further explained here. Primary sources (case studies, case reports, research studies) are rarely used, especially if the primary sources are produced by the organisation or individual who is promoting a claim.
- The Wikipedia community includes a wide variety of editors with different interests, skills, and knowledge. We all manage to get along through a lot of discussion that happens under the scenes and through the bold, revert, discuss editing cycle. If you encounter any problems, you can discuss them on an article's talk page or post a message on the WPMED talk page.
Feel free to drop a note on my talk page if you have any questions. I wish you all the best on your wiki voyages! — Prodraxis {talk • contributions} (she/her) 14:40, 5 July 2023 (UTC)
- Thank you so much for you encouragements and guidance. For years now Wikipedia has made my work easier. I figured it is time for me to contribute! I have been working offline on a bio. I might ping you for p2p feedback when I am done. Particleshow22 (talk) 23:05, 3 August 2023 (UTC)
Did you know? nominations
[edit]Hiya, Prodraxis here :) (same username, new signature, eh?) You may remember me as the editor who left a welcome message on your Talk page a few months ago. I've been seeing that you've been writing more articles about medical subjects since you've joined, which is amazing - they are very much well referenced and well written. Do you wish to nominate one of the articles you created to be featured on the Did You Know section on the Main Page? Articles that were created, expanded fivefold in prose or taken to Good Article status within 7 days of nominating are eligible for getting Did You Know? credit. Articles must have at least 250 words of prose to be considered for DYK. You can use this gadget to help nominate articles, and you can refer to this as an example DYK nomination that I've done in the past. If you need help with this, feel free to reach out to me anytime. All the best, #prodraxis connect 18:37, 29 October 2023 (UTC)
- Oh thank you @Prodraxis: for letting me know. I didn't know how to nominate so this is definitely valuable. I am a bit busy writing some valuable articles. It would be great to nominate of of my articles. I will try to do it soon when I find some spare time. Particleshow22 (talk) 11:45, 2 November 2023 (UTC)

DYK for War Against Smallpox
[edit]On 13 December 2023, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article War Against Smallpox, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that War Against Smallpox describes how Edward Jenner's vaccination technique spread across Europe during the Napoleonic Wars? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/War Against Smallpox. You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page (here's how, War Against Smallpox), and the hook may be added to the statistics page after its run on the Main Page has completed. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

- @Herpetogenesis: Thank you! I read Gereffi's book Global Value Chains and Development (Cambridge Univ. Press, 2018) which led me to do some research about him. I was surprised there wasn't an entry about him considering his extensive work on Global value chains, and so I decided to do it. Particleshow22 (talk) 20:36, 1 January 2024 (UTC)

I wonder whether you could take a look at the last 5-or-so references on the current version. They seem completely out of place - biomedical papers from the 1970s, before the creator was (ah) active.

- @Klbrain: Thank you for your detailed and on-point feedback. I took action: copy-edited and removed irrelevant sources. By the way, the last couple of weeks I have noticed that pages take longer to be reviewed, it is because of some sort of a huge backlog of pages waiting to be reviewed? Thank you. Particleshow22 (talk) 20:37, 26 March 2024 (UTC)
- There is a very large and rapidly expanding backlog on new page review; in fact, I've only just joined the team of reviewers (I usually focus on merging), in part because they need the help! You can see the backlog at the top of Wikipedia:New_pages_patrol. We're seeing lots of translation drives, plus the Women in Red initiatives; all good causes, but it does create some work. Klbrain (talk) 21:12, 26 March 2024 (UTC)
- Wow 13837 articles in the backlog as of the time of writing this. I am thinking about devoting more time to writing articles and I might even think about becoming a reviewer myself. One has to give back to the project! Particleshow22 (talk) 10:46, 27 March 2024 (UTC)
- @Klbrain: Hi! Some new sources emerged (Bacq and Wang (2024); Sarasvathy (2024); Stevenson et al. (2024);) and I cited them and edited the article. Looking forward to your thoughts on this.Particleshow22 (talk) 20:14, 26 September 2024 (UTC)

You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Ways to improve The Market Opportunity Navigator
[edit]Hello, Particleshow22,
Thank you for creating The Market Opportunity Navigator.
I have tagged the page as having some issues to fix, as a part of our page curation process and note that:
I struggle to find and real WP:SIGCOV on this topic as a notable subject by a high quality national WP:RS. The only ones are by Marc Gruber himself, which don't help WP:GNG? thanks
The tags can be removed by you or another editor once the issues they mention are addressed. If you have questions, leave a comment here and begin it with {{Re|Aszx5000}}

Happy editing! Particleshow22 (talk) 16:46, 16 August 2024 (UTC)
- Please do. Gruber (who's article I also cleaned up) is definitely becoming a major figure in this field (which I am familiar with), so perhaps it will attract more independent research. Also, is "The" part of the name or is it "Market Opportunity Navigator" - I found examples of both when searching? thanks and great work. Aszx5000 (talk) 16:51, 16 August 2024 (UTC)
- I believe both "Market Opportunity Navigator" or "The Market Opportunity Navigator" are valid, a redirect can be done to avoid confusion. Thank you for your kind comment and consideration of my work. Will keep improving the article when I get some free time.Particleshow22 (talk) 13:38, 23 August 2024 (UTC)

Replaceable non-free use File:Gilbert Hegemier 1971.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading File:Gilbert Hegemier 1971.jpg. I noticed that this file is being used under a claim of non-free use. However, I think that the way it is being used fails the first non-free content criterion. This criterion states that files used under claims of non-free use may have no free equivalent; in other words, if the file could be adequately covered by a freely-licensed file or by text alone, then it may not be used on Wikipedia. If you believe this file is not replaceable, please:
- Go to the file description page and add the text
{{Di-replaceable non-free use disputed|<your reason>}}
below the original replaceable non-free use template, replacing<your reason>
with a short explanation of why the file is not replaceable. - On the file's talk page, write a full explanation of why you believe the file is not replaceable.
Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media item by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by creating new media yourself (for example, by taking your own photograph of the subject).
If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these media fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification, per the non-free content policy. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. -- Marchjuly (talk) 02:29, 23 August 2024 (UTC)
- @Marchjuly: Thank you for notifying me! I already removed the image from the article's Infobox. Will try to find a freely licensed alternative in the future.Particleshow22 (talk) 13:34, 23 August 2024 (UTC)

[edit]Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Mark Esposito, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Polycentric. The article Journal of Late Antique, Islamic and Byzantine Studies has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
Non-notable journal. Not indexed in any selective databases, no independent sources. Does not meet WP:NJournals or WP:GNG.
While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Randykitty (talk) 10:48, 9 December 2024 (UTC)
