Question from FLOURISH N CHIMEZE (19:05, 30 October 2024)
[edit]good evening mentor, please i need the the tips for editing --FLOURISH N CHIMEZE (talk) 19:05, 30 October 2024 (UTC)
- hiya @FLOURISH N CHIMEZE good question! it's a learning curve and hopefully Help:Editing is what you need. Mujinga (talk) 08:10, 31 October 2024 (UTC)
Question from Leopapayon (02:26, 1 November 2024)
[edit]Hello Mujinga, I have a question, i'm trying to make a page about a Taiwanese animated series which is really obscure and some cites are in chinese, it's called "Brave Animated Series" and i ask you, is acceptable use cites in chinese in the page despite not having so much references in english? --Leopapayon (talk) 02:26, 1 November 2024 (UTC)
- Hi @Leopapayon thanks for stopping by and welcome to wikipedia. Are we talking about Draft:Brave_Animated_Series? Nor having references in English is not necessarily a problem, but the sources in other languages must be high quality. I don't speak or read what I'm assuming is Taiwanese Mandarin, but i can see Facebook and IMDB mentioned in the citations. Neither are considered reliable sources because they are mostly user generated with no editorial control, per Wikipedia:Reliable sources/Perennial sources#Facebook and Wikipedia:Reliable sources/Perennial sources#IMDb. Hope that helps! Mujinga (talk) 09:48, 1 November 2024 (UTC)
- The reason why Facebook and IMDB are mentioned is because there are not so many information of the series, so I used the information of the facebook account, and for the IMDB critics is because there not exist critics in sites like metacritic or rotten tomatoes. Leopapayon (talk) 01:04, 10 November 2024 (UTC)
- @Leopapayon this is one of the tough things to understand when starting to edit wikipedia - if the reliable sources aren't there, then the series probably isn't notable in terms of having its wikipedia article. that's no judgement on the series itself, it's just the way wikipedia works. imdb and facebook are generally not acceptable sources per what i said above. hope that helps. Mujinga (talk) 13:09, 10 November 2024 (UTC)
- alright, also could you please help me in something:
- How I do insert notes in my wikipedia page?
- If i have the poster of the series, how I do to Insert it using Fair Use?
- How I do tu insert the episode list correctly?
- Leopapayon (talk) 23:57, 18 November 2024 (UTC)
- @Leopapayon hello again!
- 1 - not sure what you mean by notes - footnotes? maybe this is relevant - Help:Footnotes or feel free to ask again
- 2 - you can follow MOS:FILMNFI - the image must be sufficiently low quality
- 3 - MOS:TVEPISODELIST explains how to do it and/or look at some other similar articles for inspiration. Mujinga (talk) 01:21, 19 November 2024 (UTC)
- The reason why Facebook and IMDB are mentioned is because there are not so many information of the series, so I used the information of the facebook account, and for the IMDB critics is because there not exist critics in sites like metacritic or rotten tomatoes. Tagging people in change logs
[edit]hey Munjinga! So just a few minutes ago I fixed some vandalism on a page and I was trying to @ the person who did it (eg. "Reverted vandalism by (@username)" and was wondering how I @ the person (sorry if I worded that weirdly I can elaborate on what I mean if needed) Benamin16 (talk) 01:34, 4 November 2024 (UTC)
- Hey @Benamin16! Great job fixing that vandalism. To mention someone on Wikipedia, you use their username in double brackets like this: @
[[User:Username|Username]]
. So in your edit summary, you could write something like: "Reverted vandalism by @[[User:Example|Example]]." Hope this helps! - Cheers, (a friendly TP stalker) Macrobreed2 (talk) 19:06, 4 November 2024 (UTC)
- Yes what Macrobreed2 said! Thanks for passing by both of you. Mujinga (talk) 19:14, 4 November 2024 (UTC)

Good GA!
[edit]Kudos on getting Pat Gros to GA! The UFF is a fascinating bit of militant history that often gets overshadowed by the other currents in the period. I had the chance to interview Levasseur once and ever since I've wished our coverage of the group on-wiki was higher quality; happy to see that start to change. :) Generalissima (talk) (it/she) 17:41, 14 November 2024 (UTC)
- @Generalissima that's kind of you to say. I bet Levasseur was a character, is it possible to read the review? No worries if you don't want to share for whatever reason. Have you read Diana Block's 'Arm the spirit'? That's a very interesting feminist account of another underground group from the same time. Mujinga (talk) 18:21, 14 November 2024 (UTC)

Question from Samip Sapkota (15:59, 23 November 2024)
[edit]hey there, I am new here. I wanted to write some article for some famous peoples of Nepal because I noticed it wasn't available in Wikipedia . I want your ideas and tips on this... --Samip Sapkota (talk) 15:59, 23 November 2024 (UTC)
- Hi @Samip Sapkota wow yes I would love to help with getting more notable Nepali people onto english wikipedia! That would be a great way to counter systemic bias. As you might have seen, I have created a few Nepal-related articles such as Rukshana Kapali, Pinky Rajgarhia and Squatting in Nepal, but I don't have a connection to Nepal and I'm sure you can suggest many more. It's good you check in first, since it can be very frustrating to create an article then see it deleted, because learning how wikipedia functions does take a while. Perhaps you can start making some drafts as subpages of your own space - what I mean is you have User:Samip Sapkota, your as yet uncreated user page, then you can have User:Samip Sapkota/yourpagehere as subpages. I'd suggest giving Wikipedia:Notability a read to see what a wikipedia article requires, in very short we need significant coverage in reliable sources such as books, academic articles and national newspapers. Any questions, feel free to ask, I'm happy to help. All the best and I left some helpful links at User talk:Samip Sapkota Mujinga (talk) 16:23, 23 November 2024 (UTC)
Hello, I have personal knowledge of Sir Norman Anderson, and more of his son Hugh. I would like to add a couple of small facts to the article, but have never done this. Please advise me how to proceed. Dr Ken Toop --Kentoop (talk) 00:58, 25 November 2024 (UTC)
- Hi @Kentoop and thanks for asking this question, which comes up a lot. A difficult thing for new users of wikipedia to relaise is that it requires information to be cited to reliable sources (such as national newspapers, academic articles, books from a reputed publisher and so on) so that even if you know something to be true anecdotally it will be deleted without proper sourcing. Nobody disputes what you know to be true, but it must be sourced. If you have facts which you can cite then that's fine, but it would also be worth declaring you have a conflict of interest regarding the Andersons, since you know them personally. Again, not a problem, but good you have stated it and I'd advise giving Wikipedia:Conflict of interest a read. Let me know if I can be of further help on this. Question from Resear2040 (17:37, 25 November 2024)
[edit]how do i create a citation and how can i add manual references?? --Resear2040 (talk) 17:37, 25 November 2024 (UTC)
- @Resear2040 hellos and welcome to wikipedia! Wikipedia:Citing sources gives you information on how to cite - I normally use Template:Citation which appears for me when i an edit window (i say for me because im not sure which version of wikipedia you are using). Hope that helps! Mujinga (talk) 19:21, 25 November 2024 (UTC)
- i usually use wikipedia from the website. but anyways thnx! Resear2040 (talk) 03:44, 26 November 2024 (UTC)
- @Resear2040 i also use from the website, but i don't use visual editor and have an old skin as well. in any case def using the citation template helps and if you can reach the edit box, then you can populate it from an isbn or doi which saves time! Mujinga (talk) 08:11, 26 November 2024 (UTC)

Question from Prof Jagdeep Singh (13:27, 4 December 2024)
[edit]Hi sir, I want to contribute new information in MORADABAD WIKIPEDIA PAGE, by including the following information: Guru Jambheshwar University, Moradabad, will be established in the Moradabad district. Prof. Sachin Maheshwari from Netaji Subhas University of Technology, Delhi, has been appointed as the first Vice-Chancellor of the university. --Prof Jagdeep Singh (talk) 13:27, 4 December 2024 (UTC)
- Hi @Prof Jagdeep Singh and welcome to wikipedia! So are you asking how to add Prof. Sachin Maheshwari to the page Moradabad? Despite your anecdotal knowledge, for wikipedia this would need to be cited to a reliable source, like a national newspaper. This means I'm not disputing the truth of your assertion, but it must be verifiable. Hope that makes sense! I'll put some links for you at User talk:Prof Jagdeep Singh. FAC review request
[edit]I really appreciated your taking the time to help review Maria Trubnikova for FA earlier this year. I nominated Anna Filosofova, an article about another member of the Russian feminist "triumvirate", for FAC review several weeks ago and it's passed source and image review. However, it's not yet attracted a regular reviewer, and I'm worried it'll get archived soon without someone taking a look and helping develop a broader consensus. Do you have any time to comment on the article soon? If not, no worries of course, but if you do, thank you! —Ganesha811 (talk) 21:46, 13 December 2024 (UTC)

Question from QuadrangleDinglePingle (00:11, 16 December 2024)
[edit]Hello, I've seen the source editing of articles, and it reminds me of the complexities of coding. How many hours does it take to learn source editing? Is it difficult? --QuadrangleDinglePingle (talk) 00:11, 16 December 2024 (UTC)
- @QuadrangleDinglePingle welcome to wikipedia, nice name! a lot of the legwork of source editing can be automated, so it isn't as scary as perhaps it seems at first. but i do agree, if you open an article to edit it sometimes the amount of code can be daunting. maybe try the visual editor? it doesn't work for me but may for you otherwise, there's plenty of help articles to read, for example Wikipedia:Citing sources. happy editing, Mujinga (talk) 13:35, 17 December 2024 (UTC)

- Reply To Mujinga Umayyad-387 (talk) 19:13, 31 December 2024 (UTC)
i am writing to bring to your attention a concern regarding the page of Abu Bakr, the first caliph of Islam. Recently, i edited the page to remove unsubstantiated claims made by Shia sources, which alleged that Abu Bakr was an enemy of the Ahle bayt. However, these claims are not supported by credible sources and are contrary to the historical records
it is essential to note that Abu Bakr's daughter, Ayesha, was a member of the Ahl al-Bayt, which contradicts the claim that Abu Bakr was their enemy. Moreover, Abu Bakr is revered by 1.7 billion Sunni Muslims worldwide, and such unsubstantiated claims can cause offense and hurt to the sentiments of these Muslims
i removed the unsubstantiated claims and provided reasons for the edit. However, a user has undo my edit, and I request that you intervene to remove the unsubstantiated claims and restore the edited content
i would appreciate it if you could look into this matter and take necessary actions to ensure the accuracy and neutrality of the content on Abu Bakr's page
Thank you for your attention to this matter

Over the past year, we hosted two edit-a-thons, one themed around women's history and another on women around the world. We also managed to achieve most of our 2024 annual goals, nominating 75 articles for GA, reviewing 64 GA nominations, nominating 8 articles for FAC, peer reviewing 3 articles and reviewing 10 FAC nominations. Excellent work, and thank you to everyone involved!
For 2025 we have a new set of goals for nominations and reviews. In particular, we would like to see more articles on our Hot 100 list being improved and nominated for GA this year. If you take a look at the list and see an article you are interested in contributing to, feel free to add it and yourself to our Hot 100 project discussion. You might even find someone interested in collaborating with you!
This year, as with every year, we hope you will join us in helping improve our coverage of women and women's works on this encyclopedia. Every contribution helps. We'll see you around!

The article Pinky Rajgarhia has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
The sources are not independent and there is no in-depth coverage that meets WP:BASIC. There also is no real claim to notability in the draft. The titles she has won show no sign of being notable.
While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. bonadea contributions talk 14:52, 9 January 2025 (UTC)

Question from Mnemoagora (03:05, 12 January 2025)
[edit]Dear Mentor,
I hope this message finds you well. I’m reaching out because my publication keeps being refused, despite my efforts to address all the raised questions and concerns. As a former student of Michel Maietta, I fail to see where a conflict of interest might exist in this context. His significant contributions to the transformation of the humanitarian sector are well-documented and widely recognized, which is why I believed his work deserved inclusion on Wikipedia.
Additionally, I’ve encountered repeated suggestions that I would need to pay individuals in India to have the publication approved. This seems contrary to the core values of Wikipedia, which I’ve always understood to prioritize transparency, neutrality, and community-driven efforts.
Could you please help clarify what issues might still need to be resolved or guide me on the best steps forward to ensure compliance with Wikipedia’s guidelines?
Thank you for your time and support.
Best regards, --Mnemoagora (talk) 03:05, 12 January 2025 (UTC)
- Hi @Mnemoagora and welcome to wikipedia! On a quick look at Draft:Michel Maietta i can see what other editors have rtold you - it's not suitable for an encyclopedia article, it reads more like a promotion. If you want to see what a good encyclopedic article looks like, there are many here, for example Maria Trubnikova. Regarding the "repeated suggestions that I would need to pay individuals in India" that is not how it is supposed to work and per Wikipedia:Articles for creation/Scam warning I would strongly suggest you immediately contact paid-en-wp@wikipedia.org. Happy editing! Mujinga (talk) 09:14, 12 January 2025 (UTC)

Question from QS Messenger (20:16, 19 January 2025)
[edit]Is there a way to store or save the current status of a Wiki Book while compiling and editing? Am I missing a step in the process of creating it, in order to save it? --QS Messenger (talk) 20:16, 19 January 2025 (UTC)
- Hi @QS Messenger that's a good question, you've stumped me there. Perhaps ask it at Wikipedia:Teahouse? Mujinga (talk) 09:33, 20 January 2025 (UTC)
Hi, I just made my first edit for the entry http://en.wiki.x.io/wiki/Galway_Kinnell
All I did was remove the website from the Infobox because it isn't active any more. For my edit reason I said "Website does not exist".
Is that more or less in line with how an edit should go? --Ihre auch (talk) 19:38, 20 January 2025 (UTC)
- Hi @Ihre auch and welcome to wikipedia! I can understand why you made that edit, but since the wayback machine has archived the site many times at https://web.archive.org/web/20250000000000*/galwaykinnell.com, I would suggest it's better to find an archived version of the site and add that, then there is still something people can refer to. Mujinga (talk) 19:44, 20 January 2025 (UTC)
- But in simple terms of making an edit, yes it was good - you were bold and you explained your reasons :) Mujinga (talk) 19:45, 20 January 2025 (UTC)
- Fantastic. Thanks for the reply. I'll add a link to an archived version. Ihre auch (talk) 19:57, 20 January 2025 (UTC)
- @Ihre auch Good stuff let me know if you need a hand with that or anything else! Mujinga (talk) 19:58, 20 January 2025 (UTC)
