Disambiguation link notification for August 25
[edit]Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Ani Lorak, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Mot. Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

[edit]Hi, Losipov. I saw your edit at 2021 storming of the United States Capitol and just wanted to point out that, according to the Manual of Style, Wikipedia uses logical quotation style; see WP:LQ. Minor edits
[edit]Hi Losipov. I saw your post at WP:MCQ#Is there actually a limit as to how many logos you can put in an article?. While trying to figure exactly what files you were referring to in that post, I noticed something unrelated to images about your recent edits. For some reason, most of them are being marked as WP:MINOR even in cases (likely adding or removing content such as names, images, etc.) when they wouldn't be considered as such. Perhaps you've recently tweaked something in your user preferences which is marking all of your edits as minor. In any case, you probably should try and follow WP:MINOR#Things to remember, particularly when editing what's likely goign to be a highly edited/watched and potentially contentious article, just to avoid any unnecessary problems with others. Just check the "This is a minor edit" box located above the "Publish changes" button and uncheck it if the edit isn't clearly beyond any doubt a minor one. As for your question about logos, myself and some other editors have responded there; so, feel free to ask any other questions about logo use there. -- Marchjuly (talk) 22:10, 16 October 2021 (UTC)

Nomination for Deletion
[edit]The article Infrastructure policy of the Joe Biden administration has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
Entirety of contents are already included in Build Back Better Plan and Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, while this article includes around a thousand views per month average against multiple thousand on the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs act article and tens of thousands of views on Build Back Better Plan
While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Bill Williams 17:19, 14 November 2021 (UTC)

[edit]Thank you for your contributions. It seems that you may have added public domain content to one or more Wikipedia articles, such as Marcela Escobari. You are welcome to import appropriate public domain content to articles, but in order to meet the Wikipedia guideline on plagiarism, such content must be fully attributed. This requires not only acknowledging the source, but acknowledging that the source is copied. There are several methods to do this described at Wikipedia:Plagiarism#Public-domain sources, including the usage of an attribution template. Please make sure that any public domain content you have already imported is fully attributed. Thank you. — Diannaa (talk) 14:43, 4 June 2022 (UTC)

Overlinking
[edit]See your edit to Salaria atlantica where you wikilinked Morocco, see Wikipedia:Manual of Style/Linking, as a rule of thumb countries and well known geographic entities should not be wikilinked in articles.Quetzal1964 (talk) 11:30, 19 June 2022 (UTC)
- @Quetzal1964 Thanks for the heads up. Although, I do have a question regarding it. If I get rid of the red link and just link Morocco like I did, would that be satisfactory given that it removes an unnecessary link? Or would that still be an issue as described in the manual? I'm just curious. This is the first time I've seen this policy. Thank you in advance. Losipov (talk) 19:23, 19 June 2022 (UTC)
- Red links are fine, someone could write an article on the river in the future. The manual is a guide to good practice. I sometimes create articles based on finding redlinks, like John Frederick Whitlie Quekett, I am sure other editors do that as well. Reading back my original post, it couldn’t be more Scottish in its use of the word see.Quetzal1964 (talk) 21:35, 19 June 2022 (UTC)
If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
Hello, I noticed that you recently created a new page, Nate Fick. First, thank you for your contribution; Wikipedia relies solely on the efforts of volunteers such as you. Unfortunately, the page you created covers a topic on which we already have a page – Nathaniel Fick. Because of the duplication, your article has been tagged for speedy deletion. Please note that this is not a comment on you personally and we hope you will continue helping to improve Wikipedia. If the topic of the article you created is one that interests you, then perhaps you would like to help out at Nathaniel Fick. If you have new information to add, you might want to discuss it at the article's talk page.
If you think the article you created should remain separate, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. Additionally if you would like to have someone review articles you create before they go live so they are not nominated for deletion shortly after you post them, allow me to suggest the article creation process and using our search feature to find related information we already have in the encyclopedia. Try not to be discouraged. Wikipedia looks forward to your future contributions. GoingBatty (talk) 00:16, 28 June 2022 (UTC)

Please read Wikipedia:Naming conventions (people). Wikipedia uses the subject's most common name for articles. Peter Secchia only used his middle initial in formal contexts, and – as seen in the sources the article is referenced from – is usually referred to as simply "Peter Secchia". There's no other article in WP with that name, so there's no need to include his middle initial, and we do not include middle initials just because we can, as you seem to be arguing. -Jason A. Ways to improve Arthur W. Brown
[edit]Hello, Losipov,
Thank you for creating Arthur W. Brown.
I have tagged the page as having some issues to fix, as a part of our page curation process and note that:
Thanks for contributing. However, a biography of a living person requires more than a single reference. A person's notability for Wikipedia is typically established through significant coverage in multiple reliable and independent sources.
The tags can be removed by you or another editor once the issues they mention are addressed. If you have questions, leave a comment here and begin it with {{Re|Paul W}}

Paul W (talk) 11:23, 5 September 2022 (UTC)
- @Paul W Thank you for the advice. Brown's nomination has not been submitted to the Senate yet, but when it is, there will be more sources added. Isn't that normal when a page gets started? Some other user made a mention of it to me earlier. Regardless, I understand the need for more sources and will add them eventually. Thanks again. Losipov (talk) 06:06, 6 September 2022 (UTC)
- Hi Losipov. During New Page Patrols, I see all levels of citation from zero, to one, to multiple. For Biographies of Living People, none or only a single reference usually warrants some action. I could see that Brown's article might be expanded once the nomination is made and further details about him are published in reliable sources, so I just tagged the page and sent a message; in other cases, I have sometimes moved a page to Draft status so that it can be improved/expanded before publication to mainspace. Paul W (talk) 08:25, 6 September 2022 (UTC)
Donna Ann Welton moved to draftspace
[edit]An article you recently created, Donna Ann Welton, is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:

Speedy deletion nomination of B. Bix Aliu
[edit]If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on B. Bix Aliu requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be an unambiguous copyright infringement. This page appears to be a direct copy from https://amcham-pl.glueup.com/event/amcham-monthly-meeting-and-briefing-with-u-s-ambassador-team-24090/. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites or other printed material as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.
If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. The same holds if you are not the owner but have their permission. If you are not the owner and do not have permission, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for how you may obtain it. You might want to look at Wikipedia's copyright policy for more details, or ask a question here.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". Not every occurrence of an article title needs a Wikilink
[edit]This edit adds a link to Seton Hall University School of Law in the middle of a quotation in the middle of a reference. Yes, searching for article titles may help find potential links, but not every occurrence of an article title needs a Wikilink. Alansohn (talk) 03:21, 21 December 2022 (UTC)
- @Alansohn Thanks for pointing that out. Usually when I do these kinds of edits, I err on the side of caution and won't put in anything that introduces errors. I seem to have missed that, so I appreciate the heads up. That said, these kinds of edits are helpful for specifying the article in question. For example, some articles will link to the university as a whole, but not the law school so it adds time to some extent in finding the article (if this makes sense). Overall, though, I agree with you and will take that into consideration. Losipov (talk) 03:59, 21 December 2022 (UTC)
- Thanks for the reply. Again, just a heads up to take into account. Alansohn (talk) 04:04, 21 December 2022 (UTC)
Find link
[edit]You added a wikilink to an article using Find link. Perhaps you could explain how you did that. Mcljlm (talk) 18:09, 6 January 2023 (UTC)
- @Mcljlm Here's the tool: https://edwardbetts.com/find_link/University_of_Antwerp
- I use this for linking articles to other pages. Hope this helps. Losipov (talk) 18:14, 6 January 2023 (UTC)
- I saw that @Losipov and clicked "jump to random article" didn't understand how to use it. Mcljlm (talk) 08:57, 7 January 2023 (UTC)
- @Mcljlm if there are results, they'll be listed below the search bar. Just click on a title and you'll be directed to the "editing" part of an article. I typically avoid results that look like they're part of a reference, or if the link will mess things up (if this makes sense). I use the "show preview" option before publishing any edits so that I know its done correctly. If you are gonna use the tool just use it with caution. That's all there is to it for the most part. Losipov (talk) 17:36, 7 January 2023 (UTC)
- I saw that @Losipov and clicked "jump to random article" didn't understand how to use it. Mcljlm (talk) 08:57, 7 January 2023 (UTC)
Your draft article, Draft:Ashish Vazirani
[edit]Hello, Losipov. It has been over six months since you last edited the Articles for Creation submission or Draft page you started, "Ashish Vazirani".
In accordance with our policy that Wikipedia is not for the indefinite hosting of material deemed unsuitable for the encyclopedia mainspace, the draft has been deleted. When you plan on working on it further and you wish to retrieve it, you can request its undeletion. An administrator will, in most cases, restore the submission so you can continue to work on it.

Find Link Tool
[edit]Hello. I'm glad you're trying to make Wikipedia better. However, your use of the Find Link Tool is utterly erratic. With it, you add completely random links to random people who are not implied in the article. Use the tool only when writing your articles, otherwise it is impossible to keep track of all your link changes. MarcusTraianus (talk) 07:58, 18 January 2023 (UTC)
- @MarcusTraianus Thanks for reaching out. This may or may not explain it, but I use that tool for notable people, specifically government ministers/secretaries and other figures like that (maybe a bit too much at one time, if I may admit). I try my best to be careful with the tool, as I don't want to create any problems in the article or have it be the wrong person being added. If this also helps, I get at least some context from the original article before linking others; if the context matches, then I go ahead and make the edits (if this makes sense). I'm sort of confused about the "completely random links to random people part". If you're referring to your reversion of Vladimir Antonov-Ovseenko, all I did was add more specification to the link which might have accidentally caused the redirect. I myself don't see this as random. The point here is that I do try to be careful with the tool and not have these problems arise.
- On a side note, please don't think that I'm trying to vandalize articles or include disruptive edits. Those aren't my intentions. You might have mentioned this in your original comment, but I wanted to say it regardless. Again, thank you for reaching out. Losipov (talk) 16:06, 18 January 2023 (UTC)
- Surely, I see that your edits are made with good faith and I have no intentions to blame you. And I'm not trying to prevent you from using this tool completely. I just advise you to double check any links made with that tool, as they can bring chaos or erratic links that can stay for years unnoticed.
- The problem with Vladimir Antonov as he is of both Russian and Ukrainian heritage, and because of that, his name pronunciation differs in these two languages. Until his conventional English name is resolved, that redirect link should stay. MarcusTraianus (talk) 16:58, 18 January 2023 (UTC)
Associated Press News
[edit]You've added Associated Press News deleting the correct title Associated Press. May I ask its reason? Egeymi (talk) 17:37, 18 January 2023 (UTC)

[edit]Welcome to Wikipedia. We appreciate your contributions, but in one of your recent edits to Apple Maps, it appears that you have added original research, which is against Wikipedia's policies. Original research refers to material—such as facts, allegations, ideas, and personal experiences—for which no reliable, published sources exist; it also encompasses combining published sources in a way to imply something that none of them explicitly say. Please be prepared to cite a reliable source for all of your contributions. You can have a look at the tutorial on citing sources. Thank you. –DMartin 18:56, 2 May 2023 (UTC)

Unsourced data
[edit]Can you please add sources to the peaks at Okean (Mari Kraimbrery song)? I didn't delete the data but it needs sources. --Muhandes (talk) 07:28, 15 May 2023 (UTC)
- @Muhandes thanks for reaching out. I doubled checked the Russian Wikipedia and that article does not cite any sources in the section you're referring to (if you're referring to the charts, of course). I understand it needs sources, so I can try to add them if I come across them. But just a heads up, I added the expansion tag for other editors who want to pitch in. Losipov (talk) 17:44, 15 May 2023 (UTC)
- I understand that other wikis may have lower standards, but the English Wikipedia requires sources. There are also guidelines about which charts to use, and I think some of these charts will not pass those guidelines (for example, YouTube charts are usually shunned upon). Since no sources are going to be available in the immediate future, I removed the section. Feel free to reintroduce it with sources. Muhandes (talk) 10:14, 16 May 2023 (UTC)
- @Muhandes That's fair. And just a heads up, I've been merely trying to translate them (as in, articles) from the Russian Wiki to here; I wasn't looking for sources to include. But I do understand the need for sources. Let me know if you have any other questions/concerns. Thanks again! Losipov (talk) 15:19, 16 May 2023 (UTC)

- @Jusaset Thanks for reaching out. A couple of things I noticed:
- 1. The vast majority of the sources there only exist because of his death. I would try to find other sources like someone else suggested.
- 2. There seem to be a ton of grammatical errors throughout the article so make sure to fix them up.
- I'll copyedit and check the citations, but other than that I'm not sure if I can make the article notable. I'd ask the Wikipedia Help Desk as someone there might be more helpful than I could. Again, thanks for reaching out. Losipov (talk) 21:39, 8 June 2023 (UTC)

[edit]Hello, and thank you for removing vandalism from Lakeshore Hospital. We appreciate this, but unfortunately your edit was not successful in restoring the article to its pre-vandalised state. For future reference, it is better to deal with vandalism by checking the article's page history to determine how it appeared before it was vandalised. You can then restore the whole article, or the relevant part of it, to an appropriate earlier version. If you simply delete the visible vandalism then any content removed or overwritten by the vandal is lost. See How to deal with vandalism for details. Thank you. - Sumanuil. MurielMary (talk) 10:51, 16 July 2023 (UTC)Second notice: Minor edits
[edit]Most of the edits you mark as "minor" are not minor edits. "Minor edit" has a very specific definition on Wikipedia—it refers only to superficial edits that could never be the subject of a dispute, such as typo corrections or reverting obvious vandalism. Any edit that changes the meaning of an article is not a minor edit, even if it only concerns a single word. Read Help:Minor edit for more information and stop marking major edits as minor. Sundayclose (talk) 23:39, 19 July 2023 (UTC)
- @Sundayclose what edits (or kinds of edits, rather) are you referring to, if I may ask? Losipov (talk) 23:43, 19 July 2023 (UTC)
- @Sundayclose follow-up to my question: if you're referring to Findlink and Hyphenator edits, the "minor edit" box is automatically checked for both. Aren't those considered "minor" since they generally change very little about the article itself (like you mentioned with "meaning")? To me at least, this seems to be the case. Losipov (talk) 23:49, 19 July 2023 (UTC)
- I don't use Findlink or Hyphenator, but I looked at many of your edits and they are not minor. I hope you have read WP:MINOR: "A good rule of thumb is that edits consisting solely of spelling corrections, formatting changes, or rearrangement of text without modification of the content should be flagged as minor edits". If you use an automated editor, you are still responsible for the edit. If it is not a minor edit, please uncheck the minor edit box. I use Twinkle, but before I save an edit I always make sure it is correct, which includes whether it's a minor edit. Sundayclose (talk) 00:47, 20 July 2023 (UTC)
- @Sundayclose I think I should've clarified those tools. Hyphenator basically "formats" ISBNs by adding dashes and also upgrading it to ISBN 13 if possible. It's a rather minor change to the citation. Findlink simply adds a wikilink to an article if there isn't one already. From what you've described, and that page, Hyphenator usage counts as minor editing but adding a wikilink with Findlink does not? Do I have that right or am I missing something?
- On a side note, I can definitely be more careful in the future. Losipov (talk) 03:38, 20 July 2023 (UTC)

Invitation
[edit]Hello Losipov!
- The New Pages Patrol is currently struggling to keep up with the influx of new articles needing review. We could use a few extra hands to help.
- We think that someone with your activity and experience is very likely to meet the guidelines for granting.
- Reviewing/patrolling a page doesn't take much time, but it requires a strong understanding of Wikipedia’s CSD policy and notability guidelines.
- Kindly read the tutorial before making your decision, and feel free to post on the project talk page with questions.
- If patrolling new pages is something you'd be willing to help out with, please consider applying here.
Thank you for your consideration. We hope to see you around!

New page reviewer granted
[edit]Hi Losipov. Your account has been added to the "New page reviewers
" user group. Please check back at WP:PERM in case your user right is time-limited or probationary. This user group allows you to review new pages through the Curation system and mark them as patrolled, tag them for maintenance issues, or nominate them for deletion. The list of articles awaiting review is located at the New Pages Feed. New page reviewing is vital to maintaining the integrity of the encyclopedia. If you have not already done so, you must read the tutorial at New Pages Review, the linked guides and essays, and fully understand the deletion policy. If you need any help or want to discuss the process, you are welcome to use the new page reviewer talk page or ask via the NPP Discord. In addition, please remember:
- Be nice to new editors. They are usually not aware that they are doing anything wrong. Do make use of the message feature when tagging pages for maintenance so that they are aware.
- You will frequently be asked by users to explain why their page is being deleted. Please be formal and polite in your approach to them – even if they are not.
- If you are not sure what to do with a page, don't review it – just leave it for another reviewer.
- Accuracy is more important than speed. Take your time to patrol each page. Steps such as checking for copyright violations using Earwig's copyright violation detector, checking for duplicate articles, and evaluating sources (both in the article, and if needed, via a Google search) for compliance with the general notability guideline are mandatory and will take a few minutes per article.
- Please review some of our flowcharts (1, 2) to help ensure you don't forget any required steps.
- Use the message feature to communicate with article creators and offer advice as much as possible.
The reviewer right does not change your status or how you can edit articles. If you no longer want this user right, you also may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. In cases of abuse or persistent inaccuracy of reviewing, or long-term inactivity, the right may be withdrawn at administrator discretion. If you can read any languages other than English, please add yourself to the list of new page reviewers with language proficiencies. signed, Rosguill talk 00:58, 22 July 2023 (UTC)

Hello, Losipov,
This article is tagged for speedy deletion, CSD G4. I would move it to Draft space and work through AFC so it doesn't get deleted. This is the only way I know to overcome an AFD "Delete" decision. Liz Read! Talk! 22:30, 27 July 2023 (UTC)

How can I get the speedy deletion nomination put on hold for now until I can get it sorted out (ie: make this version a draft and getting rid of that other one)? Speedy deletion contested: Draft:Raghvendra Sharma
[edit]Hello Losipov. I am just letting you know that I contested the speedy deletion of Draft:Raghvendra Sharma, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: Block happened after the page was created. Thank you. BangJan1999 03:56, 29 July 2023 (UTC)
- @BangJan1999 thanks for the heads up. I had a discussion on another editor's talkpage and they clarified what the criteria was. Go ahead and decline if you want, I won't contest it. Losipov (talk) 03:58, 29 July 2023 (UTC)
When tagging a page for speedy deletion under WP:G5, you need to include the name of the sockmaster rather than the sockpuppet. WP:G5 is for block evasion, rather then for sockpuppetry and WP:G5 only applies if there is evidence that block evasion is occurring. If you're unsure of the sockmaster, feel free to contact the blocking admin. Thank you. BangJan1999 03:58, 29 July 2023 (UTC)

Please add more sources to the Gayazovs Brothers article, they would be notable as they've released 3 albums on Warner Music Russia, but we need additional sources that talk about them. New pages patrol newsletter
[edit]Hello Losipov,
Backlog update: At the time of this message, there are 11,300 articles and 15,600 redirects awaiting review. This is the highest backlog in a long time. Please help out by doing additional reviews!
October backlog elimination drive: A one-month backlog drive for October will start in one week! Barnstars will be awarded based on the number of articles and redirects patrolled. Articles will earn 4x as many points compared to redirects. You can sign up here.
PageTriage code upgrades: Upgrades to the PageTriage code, initiated by the NPP open letter in 2022 and actioned by the WMF Moderator Tools Team in 2023, are ongoing. More information can be found here. As part of this work, the Special:NewPagesFeed now has a new version in beta! The update leaves the NewPagesFeed appearance and function mostly identical to the old one, but updates the underlying code, making it easier to maintain and helping make sure the extension is not decommissioned due to maintenance issues in the future. You can try out the new Special:NewPagesFeed here - it will replace the current version soon.
Notability tip: Professors can meet WP:PROF #1 by having their academic papers be widely cited by their peers. When reviewing professor articles, it is a good idea to find their Google Scholar or Scopus profile and take a look at their h-index and number of citations. As a very rough rule of thumb, for most fields, articles on people with a h-index of twenty or more, a first-authored paper with more than a thousand citations, or multiple papers each with more than a hundred citations are likely to be kept at AfD.
Reviewing tip: If you would like like a second opinion on your reviews or simply want another new page reviewer by your side when patrolling, we recommend pair reviewing! This is where two reviewers use Discord voice chat and screen sharing to communicate with each other while reviewing the same article simultaneously. This is a great way to learn and transfer knowledge.
Reminders:
- You can access live chat with patrollers on the New Page Patrol Discord.
- Consider adding the project discussion page to your watchlist.

New Pages Patrol newsletter April 2024
[edit]Hello Losipov,
Backlog update: The October drive reduced the article backlog from 11,626 to 7,609 and the redirect backlog from 16,985 to 6,431! Congratulations to Schminnte, who led with over 2,300 points.
Following that, New Page Patrol organized another backlog drive for articles in January 2024. The January drive started with 13,650 articles and reduced the backlog to 7,430 articles. Congratulations to JTtheOG, who achieved first place with 1,340 points in this drive.
Looking at the graph, it seems like backlog drives are one of the only things keeping the backlog under control. Another backlog drive is being planned for May. Feel free to participate in the May backlog drive planning discussion.
It's worth noting that both queues are gradually increasing again and are nearing 14,034 articles and 22,540 redirects. We encourage you to keep contributing, even if it's just a single patrol per day. Your support is greatly appreciated!
2023 Awards
Onel5969 won the 2023 cup with 17,761 article reviews last year - that's an average of nearly 50/day. There was one Platinum Award (10,000+ reviews), 2 Gold Awards (5000+ reviews), 6 Silver (2000+), 8 Bronze (1000+), 30 Iron (360+) and 70 more for the 100+ barnstar. Hey man im josh led on redirect reviews by clearing 36,175 of them. For the full details, see the Awards page and the Hall of Fame. Congratulations everyone for their efforts in reviewing!
WMF work on PageTriage: The WMF Moderator Tools team and volunteer software developers deployed the rewritten NewPagesFeed in October, and then gave the NewPagesFeed a slight visual facelift in November. This concludes most major work to Special:NewPagesFeed, and most major work by the WMF Moderator Tools team, who wrapped up their major work on PageTriage in October. The WMF Moderator Tools team and volunteer software developers will continue small work on PageTriage as time permits.
Recruitment: A couple of the coordinators have been inviting editors to become reviewers, via mass-messages to their talk pages. If you know someone who you'd think would make a good reviewer, then a personal invitation to them would be great. Additionally, if there are Wikiprojects that you are active on, then you can add a post there asking participants to join NPP. Please be careful not to double invite folks that have already been invited.
Reviewing tip: Reviewers who prefer to patrol new pages within their most familiar subjects can use the regularly updated NPP Browser tool.
Reminders:
- You can access live chat with patrollers on the New Pages Patrol Discord.
- Consider adding the project discussion page to your watchlist.
- To opt out of future mailings, please remove yourself here.

Unnecessary edits removing whitespace from citation templates
[edit]FYI, another editor was recently banned from using automated tools for doing this. Removing spaces from citation templates is considered "editor hostile wikitext", and use of bots or other automated tools to make such edits is prohibited. See [1] and [2]. In point of fact, the editor was asked to revert all those edits, and their editing restriction was enacted when they refused to do so. Skyerise (talk) 23:01, 3 July 2024 (UTC)
- @Skyerise Thank you for reaching out. I want to make it clear that I never intended to cause problems with citations and did them in good faith, I thought they would be helpful to some extent. I'll point out that there were some things with that script that definitely would cause problems, so I just didn't insert them (ex: using dashes in certain places). With removing whitespace, I thought they would be a good thing. If they need to be reverted to restore better readability, I don't object. I'll be more careful going forward. Losipov (talk) 23:14, 3 July 2024 (UTC)
- Thanks. I think as long as the script leaves (or even adds) a space just before each "|" character, it would not be a problem. In the edits I saw, though, there wasn't a space before, there was a space after, so when the spaces were removed, the template was all one long string (except spaces in the title, etc.) That does make them harder to work with for people who edit the wikitext directly.... Skyerise (talk) 23:20, 3 July 2024 (UTC)
- @Skyerise wait can you point to where that appeared? Was it in all of the pages that I edited with the tool or only in certain ones? or is it only the ones with a "trailing period"? Just trying to get a sense of what's going on (and not trying to be difficult with this or cause problems, just trying to learn what went wrong). Losipov (talk) 23:28, 3 July 2024 (UTC)
- The article on my watchlist is Jared Huffman. Now I see it just removed spaces before and after the '=' only after 'url', rather than all the spaces. I may have seen the other behavior on one that I spot-checked, but I don't remember which random articles I clicked through to... Skyerise (talk) 23:37, 3 July 2024 (UTC)
- @Skyerise so I (briefly) skimmed that discussion involving the editor who got banned, and it seemed that they used AWB to do those edits? Just to be transparent I don't use AWB, I simply used the respective script for the edits. I also didn't know it was "editor hostile wikitext" when I was using the script, I just thought it would be a good idea. Again, apologies for the inconvinience/headache; I truly didn't intend to be disruptive/act in bad faith. Losipov (talk) 00:18, 4 July 2024 (UTC)
- No problem. Now you are aware. Carry on! Skyerise (talk) 00:58, 4 July 2024 (UTC)
