Welcome to Wikipedia. Everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia. However, talk pages are meant to be a record of a discussion; deleting or editing legitimate comments, as you did at Talk:Ancient Greece, is considered bad practice, even if you meant well. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you. RJC TalkContribs 17:15, 4 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

  • I apologize for that. I had a typo and just updated it. I didn't know that was incorrect. (Angel Avendano 21:50, 22 January 2010 (UTC))

RE

[edit]

So what? It does not matter ... used as they are known and not as their name appears on the kit.

Aka is one thing .... yes we give Ronaldinho. Now there is no need to use "V. Valdés" just because it's on his kit ... arises only "Valdés". And Sergio Busquets is not known as Sergio ... it is Busquets ...

Ownership

[edit]

Please do not assume Ownership, see WP:OWN, and stop just reverting edits - instead solve disagreements on the talk page, as has been pointed out before. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Sandman888 (talkcontribs) 14:44, 26 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

- Demanding sources is fine, but you shd then say that on the talkpage. I've stated reasons for using Busquets there, and you have not responded, therefor I've changed it. Wikipedia is about sources, but also about consensus. Sandman888 (talk) 00:06, 27 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Helping out

[edit]

Hi there SANDMAN, VASCO from Portugal here,

regarding your discussion with User:Chapecoense and User:Sandman888, the former has asked me to help, which i accepted. Please read this (see here http://en.wiki.x.io/wiki/Talk:FC_Barcelona#OUT_ON_LOAN), then tell me your views.

Also, regarding the players on "everyone's lips" now, Sergio Busquets and Yaya Touré; the first is referred to more as Busquets, but Sergio is not uncommon. The last usually with the two names. No point entering an edit war over this. As far as the removal of the youth players in the first team article, i think SANDMAN is correct, FC Barcelona Atlètic already has own WP page.

Attentively, VASCO - --Vasco Amaral (talk) 01:33, 3 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Legends at Barcelona.com

[edit]

Hiya,

I'm writing because you edit the current season a lot so I thought maybe you cd help. Do you know how this list is determined? Do the coach or sport director determine it? Best Regards Sandman888 (talk) 22:50, 15 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Great. Do you have any references on that? I know there's a book at the camp nou museum with legends in it but can't remember the name. I'm trying to get a list promoted to featured status, but the editors think it's just the webmanager who adds stuff. Sandman888 (talk) 23:40, 15 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Found it! Here's the book legends - thanks though!Sandman888 (talk) 00:14, 16 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

2010 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup qualification

[edit]

Is there a reason you think we shouldn't include the full team names in the article and the bracket at 2010 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup qualification? -- Grant.Alpaugh 19:39, 17 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I understand your concern, but I think it's important to be consistent from article to article. Plus, your assumption that everyone knows the team names isn't necessarily true since this is an encyclopedia that can be accessed by anyone anywhere in the world, you know? If it's alright with you, I'm going to list the full names, okay? -- Grant.Alpaugh 21:36, 17 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Copa del Rey 2010–11 requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article providing little or no context to the reader. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content. You may wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles - see the Article Wizard.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag - if no such tag exists then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hangon tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. [edit]

Hello, I hope you're doing fine and I sincerely apologize for this intrusion. I've just read your profile and you seem to appreciate the Barça football team so maybe I am not bothering you and you will help us... I'm part of an association "Amical de la Viquipèdia" which is trying to get some recognition as a Catalan Chapter but this hasn't been approved up to that moment. We would appreciate your support, visible if you stick this on your first page: Wikimedia CAT. Supporting us will be like supporting some of the goals of the Barça! Regarding FC Barcelona

[edit]

I just saw you reverted an edit on FC Barcelona, and thought that perhaps you would be interested in reviewing the list of players, which is nominated for FL here: Wikipedia:Featured list candidates/List of FC Barcelona players/archive2. Cheers, Sandman888 (talk) 17:11, 14 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

  • I'm sorry to bother you again, but the lists urgently needs reviews to form a consensus. Could you check the list and say whether you support, are neutral or oppose the nomination here. Best regards, Sandman888 (talk) 21:00, 16 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I appreciate your edits to update match results for the USMNT. However, Your formatting changes such as reverting the use of the "stack" field in {{Footballbox collapsible}} are disruptive to the uniformity of the whole page and reject an accepted parameter for a widely used template. The whole point of the collapsible box is to preserve space – the article is in great need of prose, and conservation of space will be even more necessary once it is added – and adding breaking lines runs counter to that purpose. If you'd like to discuss it I'll be watchlisting this page. Thanks again for your efforts. JohnnyPolo24 (talk) 18:38, 21 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

List of FC Barcelona presidents

Hello. I have created a list of all presidents of Barcelona here, and I would like to hear you input on the featured list nomination here, because it has not received any reviews for 14 days now. Flags in infoboxes

[edit]

While I don't doubt your good intentions in labelling lots of international football managers with flags, you should be aware that this is, for at least two reasons, contrary to the encyclopaedia's manual of style. Flags should be accompanied by the name of the country that they represent, at least on the first time of showing in an article, and flags should not be used in infoboxes to indicate place of birth. Please revert that series of edits. Kevin McE (talk) 07:21, 28 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I've just expanded La Masia. If you have a ref that 9 of the squad members in the WC 2010 final where from La Masia and six of the starters as well, that would be great. Otherwise I can't add it in. Sandman888 (talk) Latest FLC 15:23, 30 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

FC Barcelona season article

[edit]

Greetings,

I have not taken ownership of the article. It seems you have. But that's irrelevant. What is relevant is the changes I made. Any changes I made were made because I may know a little thing here or there that you may not. I do know how to make the template:footballbox collapsible look better when you use more than one of them. I also know you should not use flagicons to indicate the national association of a referee (you used a piped link for that). And I also know that we don't say F.C. København in English Wikipedia articles; we say F.C. Copenhagen. That's pretty much the extent of my edits. Anything else in the article I really don't care to edit unless it is in need for correction. That's all. Cheers. Digirami (talk) 21:39, 20 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Barcelona season article

[edit]

Greetings,

I don't know what you're problem is against me or my edits. I have tried to do thing right. I took things to the talk page and argued my points in a manner appropiate for the site. But, you seem to have it out for any edits made by me to the page (this is not the first time). You do not own the article. Furthermore, do not disrupt Wikipedia to prove a point, which is what you're doing by adding the player's legal name. You have not reach any level of consensus for that on any level. You're the only editor that seems to favor displaying the jersey name in the squad information and football box. Take it to the talk page and keep things civil. Thanks. Player Names

[edit]

DO NOT go by the names on players' jerseys. In match information boxes, it's not F. Coentrao, it's simply Coentrao. Same for David Villa. There's only one, so it's simply Villa. The same for Sergio Ramos (Ramos), Kevin-Prince Boateng (NOT PRINCE, ITS BOATENG), Thiago Silva, Andrés Iniesta, Víctor Valdés, Alexis Sánchez, etc. THANK YOU Italia2006 (talk) 21:50, 30 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

the Cup

[edit]

I think it will be easier for people to have it match the bracket - as most won't go to the source and see that they are different. I worry how much the draw for the 3rd round will cause shifting in the brackets. I setup the brackets to match the second round rather than the first since the announcement didn't line them up. Also, I'm wondering how you feel about breaking up the 7 round bracket into preliminary rounds (1-3) and final rounds (4-finals). I hate that even on my 1920 pixel wide monitor, the names still wrap, and on a 1000px wide about half the names wrap. --Trödel 18:52, 2 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

  • I modified the template to show the first three rounds only - We could have it also do the right thing based on who wins (by right thing I mean show the link between the first round and the person who clears to the 2nd round), but it will be significant editing. For example:
  Round 1         Round 2       Round 3
ABC Team Alpha winner 3     ABC Team Alpha winner 1     MLS Team Blue 3(3)

XYZ Team Beta loser 0     USLP Pro side 2nd rd win 3     USLP Pro side 2nd rd win 3(4)

ABC Team delta loser 0     XYZ Team gamma winner 1     USLP USL Pro B 2nd rd win 1

XYZ Team gamma winner 2     USLP USL Pro B 2nd rd win 3     MLS Team Red 2

Any feedback on the changes to the preliminary bracket? --Trödel 21:39, 2 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]
  • Not sure I like the preliminary bracket being removed (but trying to decide if that's because I spent 90 minutes on it or because the bracket format is useful). I do like the idea of moving the finals bracket near those rounds. Let's see what others do to the page. --Trödel

important updates at Messi's page

[edit]

there is important discussion about messi's page at [footbal]

the discussion about :

1-adding back the assists which have been removed ( and i think its really important ) especially most notable players have it and even less known player than messi have this statistics which is important for any striker .(remember the debate about messi vs ronalod have lots about messi makes more assists than ronaldo )

2-adding back the youth and under -23 goals because they are different statistics from senior one and u cant merge them together . since fifa themself separate them differently .

3-about the table of messi goals and if its important info or just long statistics(useless one).

Thank you all . adnantalk 12 pm 16 october 2012 (UTC)

Spanish teams abreviated

[edit]

Saludos - tot-futbol (talk) 01:23, 20 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hey! Just a short question here. In the match template, is there a rule to put the events in the order in which they happened? Because its kinda confusing if you don't put the goals first and/or if you put yellow cards in between goals. --Janisterzaj (talk) 10:20, 3 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

2013–14 FC Barcelona season :

[edit]

This topic is getting me frustrated, first there isn't still any official release of the squad number but they keep changing it !

second Bojan has been bought by barca this season again as a part of the deal they made two years ago! I can't see why they keep removing it. it's stupid !! finally another one removing the statistic section saying it's blank ?!

I don't know if there is a way to prevent all this or not. im not familiar with wikipedia as much as you .

Thank you . — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2602:306:3878:81E0:C55:AF6:8AF2:2315 (talk) 17:24, 27 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

STOP PUTTING NEYMAR JR

[edit]

HELLO FRIEND. I will never understand your obsession with using jersey names to refer to players in the info boxes, but enough is enough. Stop putting Neymar Jr every time he scores or gets cautioned. He is NEYMAR. No one refers to him as Neymar Jr except himself. I've left 'Alexis' alone because I don't see that as being as big a deal, but it really should be Sánchez. I've spoken with you about this before but you ignored that. Continue to put Neymar Jr and I will continue to remove it. Italia2006 (talk) 13:20, 10 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Listen, I'm really getting tired of your obsession with having the jersey names as the visible link. I'm not sure if you even speak English (and I don't mean that as an insult) but here I go. Why should we put Jordi Alba when there is only one Alba on the team? Why Sergio when his name is Busquets? Why? And for God's sake enough with the "Neymar Jr" stuff already. Livescores and live updates

[edit]

Hi, I just wanted to let you know that I have seen your edit at 2013–14 FC Barcelona season and wanted to inform that live updating are not accepted. Based on Wikipedia policies and guidlines we should not provide livescores and live updates. This based on WP:LIVESCORES and WT:FOOTY consensus at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Football/Archive 81#Live scoring and it has also been discussed many more times. This also applies to tables and list such as top goalscorers, squad statistics and other match info, which you can also read about at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Football/Archive 81#Live updates (again). Please wait until matches are finished before adding the statistics. Wikipedia is not for livescoring and should wait for update until sources are updated. Thank you. Overlinking

[edit]

Hi there LF, AL from Portugal "here",

just because you link something in the introduction to an article, does not mean when it first appears in the storyline it should not be linked, it should. ONCE in intro and ONCE in storyline is not overlinking, it's 100% correct.

Need your input for a dispute resolution on the Bill Cosby article

[edit]

Hello, I noticed that you had some comments on the Bill Cosby talk page and was hoping you could help us resolve an issue. Please see the section titled "Discussion: Should the lead sentence mention the sexual assault accusations?". Thanks! Hamsterlopithecus (talk) 03:52, 28 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

This thread is forum shopping and IDHT behavior. Hamster totally reordered talk page sections, placing them in opposite order and thus changing the meaning and progression. They also changed headings made by others, and also created an improperly formed RfC to hijack the discussion. All is now restored. We had a consensus until this disruption occurred. This is massive IDHT behavior, and this thread should be closed. Such behavior should not be rewarded. Hamster should be blocked for this. -- {{u|BullRangifer}} {Talk} 20:00, 28 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

2015-16 St. John's Red Storm men's basketball team

[edit]

Could you please explain to me why you changed the format of the team's schedule on this article? There is a format for college basketball schedules that every other season article uses so that there is no need for wikitables. It's currently too busy with too much going on. Please respond ASAP as I will be undoing your edits in 24 hours to the standard format unless you give me a reason to leave it.

BUPetey (talk) 16:09, 18 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I disagree and maybe I jumped the gun changing it, but the original format was too bulky and too many wrap around. This one I think simplifies it w/o losing all the information from the original. You can reverted if you like since it's not that serious... La Fuzion (K lo K) 16:14, 18 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

The article Unai Dufur has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Footballer who fails GNG and NFOOTY. His 'debut' for Eibar was against Tercera Division team (which isn't fully-pro)

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. @Eagle Site, if you look at all the past seasons articles along with the other Spanish teams pages, the flags of the same country are normally not added. An article you recently created, 2022–23 Copa de la Reina de Fútbol, is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Decline reason:

It's blocked as part of a range that our technical analysis finds to be configured by its owner in such a way that it can be used as an open proxy. It's not aimed at you personally; you seem to be an editor in good standing. Since you can edit from other IPs as your account is not directly blocked, I can't unblock, and it would be very difficult to get the range block lifted. What you can do is go to WP:IPECPROXY and follow those directions to request IP block exemption. — Daniel Case (talk) 04:07, 2 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Custom signature fix needed

[edit]

Hi there! You have a custom signature set in your account preferences. Changes to Wikipedia's software have made your current custom signature invalid.

The problem: Your signature contains a syntax error or obsolete HTML tags.

The solutions: You can reset your signature to the default, you can fix your signature, or you can do nothing.

Solution 1: Reset your signature to the default:

  1. Find the signature section in the first tab of Special:Preferences.
  2. Uncheck the box (☑︎→☐) that says "Treat the above as wiki markup."
  3. Remove anything in the Signature: text box.
  4. Click the blue "Save" button at the bottom of the page. (Do not click the red "Restore all default settings" button, which will reset all of your preference settings, not just the signature.)

Solution 2: Fix your custom signature:

  1. Find the signature section in the first tab of Special:Preferences.
  2. Click the Learn more button next to the error to learn how to fix the error.
  3. Update your signature to fix the error.
  4. Click Save to update to your newly fixed signature.

Solution 3: Do nothing:

  1. In accordance with a recent request for comment, all invalid signatures will be changed to the default, which looks like "Example (talk)", one month from now.

If you have followed these instructions and still want help, please leave a message at Wikipedia talk:Signatures. Thank you! MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 06:05, 2 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Invitation to participate in a research

[edit]

Hello,

The Wikimedia Foundation is conducting a survey of Wikipedians to better understand what draws administrators to contribute to Wikipedia, and what affects administrator retention. We will use this research to improve experiences for Wikipedians, and address common problems and needs. We have identified you as a good candidate for this research, and would greatly appreciate your participation in this anonymous survey.

You do not have to be an Administrator to participate.

The survey should take around 10-15 minutes to complete. You may read more about the study on its Meta page and view its privacy statement .

Please find our contact on the project Meta page if you have any questions or concerns.

Kind Regards,

WMF Research Team

Real

[edit]

Per last seasons, it was done the same. What about the position by round table? Does it stay empty and filled afterwards? If a game is rescheduled a lot for or back it can be "16 (3rd), 17 (17th), 18 (3rd)". Makes no sense. Per WP:BRD you were bold, i reverted so you should start a discussion and not revert again. Kante4 (talk) 18:40, 4 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

You have to keep it as week 12 and then you move it in between whichever weeks the game is rescheduled to; i.e., if its replay between Round 20 and 21 then you add Round 12 to in between those rounds. El Clasico is on Round 35, so you can't change their round numbers. Lafuzion (talk) 19:02, 4 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
So, if round 12 is played between 25 and 26, the results by round table is incorrect (example above). Please see last seasons for examples how we dealt with it, you can't just come in and change it without consensus. Pinging @Leprazoori: as another contributor at that article. Kante4 (talk) 10:36, 5 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Valencia vs Real Madrid is a Round 12 match whether it was play on its original date or next year in May, it doesn't become a new round. I'm genuinely confused whether you understand what I am conveying.. Lafuzion (talk) 20:34, 4 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, but it's not the 12th game for Real, that's how we handled it the last seasons and i do not see a reason to change it. Kante4 (talk) 20:41, 4 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
The number is not the matches they've played in chronological order, but the specific round in the League's calendar. Last year when Barcelona's match vs Osasuna was postponed (Round 20), it was slotted between Round 22 and 23. The result by round was added to Round 20 when the match was completed, but their position can be added chronologically because there's movement in the table due the games that were actually played. Lafuzion (talk) 20:57, 4 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
So, the order in the results by round table can be changed and "be in wrong order" but the order at the matches should stay the same? Kante4 (talk) 10:36, 5 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

for more input. Kante4 (talk) 11:22, 5 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
