Welcome!

[edit]

Hello, Kanto7, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Unfortunately, one or more of your recent edits to the page British Raj did not conform to Wikipedia's verifiability policy, and may have been removed. Wikipedia articles should refer only to facts and interpretations verified in reliable, reputable print or online sources or in other reliable media. Always provide a reliable source for quotations and for any material that is likely to be challenged, or it may be removed. Wikipedia also has a related policy against including original research in articles.

If you are stuck and looking for help, please see the guide for citing sources or come to The Teahouse, where experienced Wikipedians can answer any queries you have! Here are a few other good links for newcomers:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. @Kanto7: You might want to review some of the links in the welcome post above. In particular, do read up on WP:Verifiability and Reliable sourcing. Always a good idea to review the norms of a community you are joining. --regentspark (comment) 13:36, 7 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Niger Districts moved to draftspace

[edit]

An article you recently created, Niger Districts, does not have enough sources and citations as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. ~ Amkgp 💬 05:44, 2 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Sources

[edit]

Hi Kanto7. I perused your edit history and noticed that you never seem to have added a reference to an article, despite making many edits. Are you perhaps unaware of the reliable sourcing policy on Wikipedia? Or, perhaps, you just don't know how to add sources? If you need help in understanding what it means for something to be sourced, or help in how to add sources, you can get help from the WP:TEAHOUSE. Regardless, please note that we have a strong policy on WP:Verifiability and running foul of policies is not a good long term strategy on Wikipedia. Best wishes. --RegentsPark (comment) 16:10, 18 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Nauru not part of the Gilbert Islands

[edit]

Hi. I do understand why you added the Mandate of Nauru to the Japanese occupation of the Gilbert Islands, but the Japanese occupation of Nauru is its own history — related to Ocean Island occupation. Nauru was put together by Japanese forces but was never part of the Gilbert Islands, so it sounds awkward to put it there. Yours -Arorae (talk) 04:28, 5 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

formal warning

[edit]
Stop icon

Your recent editing history at British Raj shows that you are currently engaged in an edit war; that means that you are repeatedly changing content back to how you think it should be, when you have seen that other editors disagree. To resolve the content dispute, please do not revert or change the edits of others when you are reverted. Instead of reverting, please use the talk page to work toward making a version that represents consensus among editors. The best practice at this stage is to discuss, not edit-war. See the bold, revert, discuss cycle for how this is done. If discussions reach an impasse, you can then post a request for help at a relevant noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, you may wish to request temporary page protection.

Being involved in an edit war can result in you being blocked from editing—especially if you violate the three-revert rule, which states that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Undoing another editor's work—whether in whole or in part, whether involving the same or different material each time—counts as a revert. Also keep in mind that while violating the three-revert rule often leads to a block, you can still be blocked for edit warring—even if you do not violate the three-revert rule—should your behavior indicate that you intend to continue reverting repeatedly.

A slow edit war is still an edit war. This warning is a requirement before requesting sanctions so I suggest you take it as a chance to stop your disruptive behaviour. -----Snowded TALK 05:18, 22 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Notice

The article Danish Iceland has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

No references given to support what is a personal essay by an editor with a history of edit warring and disruption (see British Raj)

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. ---Snowded TALK 09:27, 22 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I suggest you move this into a sand pit and focus on getting references into it and some evidence of notability -----Snowded TALK 09:29, 22 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Comments on Proposed deletion

[edit]

I posted the following on the talk page for the Danish Iceland article but sharing here as well.

The main issues with this article include:

1. Sources --- There aren't any and that is a huge issue.

2. Appropriateness of a separate article --- It seems like much of this content might better fit under either the articles for History of Iceland or Danish overseas colonies, but if you think it merits a separate article it would be good to have an argument that would justify it.

One last thought for you... I think it might be best to consider taking this article into a draft status (see Wikipedia:Drafts for more information on this), if you want to try to improve this article and keep it alive, but won't be able to get it up to the standards fast enough.

Good luck and please let me know if you have any questions. Jmbranum (talk) 14:31, 22 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Copying within Wikipedia

[edit]

Please remember to identify the source of the material in your edit when copying within Wikipedia.

I think you copied material from History of Iceland, which is permitted but it must be properly attributed.

This type of edit does get picked up by Copy Patrol and a good edit summary helps to make sure we don't accidentally revert it. For future use, would you note the best practices wording as outlined at Wikipedia:Copying_within_Wikipedia? In particular, adding a link to the source and the phrase "see that page's history for attribution" helps ensure that proper attribution is preserved. It is not too late to add the attribution. See Wikipedia:Copying_within_Wikipedia#Repairing_insufficient_attribution which explains how to do so.S Philbrick(Talk) 12:18, 22 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Danish Iceland requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be an unambiguous copyright infringement. This page appears to be a direct copy from https://lifewellnessazores.com/journal/399bed-who-discovered-iceland and http://mycakrawala.com/journal/7adaab-vikings-in-iceland. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites or other printed material as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. The same holds if you are not the owner but have their permission. If you are not the owner and do not have permission, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for how you may obtain it. You might want to look at Wikipedia's copyright policy for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Great to see you taking.....as seen above many edits you have done are contsted. [edit]

Information icon Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you copied or moved text from History of the Comoros into French Territory of the Comoros. While you are welcome to re-use Wikipedia's content, here or elsewhere, Wikipedia's licensing does require that you provide attribution to the original contributor(s). When copying within Wikipedia, this is supplied at minimum in an edit summary at the page into which you've copied content, disclosing the copying and linking to the copied page, e.g., copied content from [[page name]]; see that page's history for attribution. It is good practice, especially if copying is extensive, to also place a properly formatted {{copied}} template on the talk pages of the source and destination. Please provide attribution for this duplication if it has not already been supplied by another editor, and if you have copied material between pages before, even if it was a long time ago, you should provide attribution for that also. You can read more about the procedure and the reasons at Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia. Thank you. If you are the sole author of the prose that was moved, attribution is not required. Sockpuppet investigation

[edit]

An editor has opened an investigation into sockpuppetry by you. Sockpuppetry is the use of more than one Wikipedia account in a manner that contravenes community policy. The investigation is being held at Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Kanto7, where the editor who opened the investigation has presented their evidence. Please make sure you make yourself familiar with the guide to responding to investigations, and then feel free to offer your own evidence or to submit comments that you wish to be considered by the Wikipedia administrator who decides the result of the investigation. If you have been using multiple accounts (in a manner contrary to Wikipedia policy), please go to the investigation page and verify that now. Leniency is usually shown to those who promise not to do so again, or who did so unwittingly, but the abuse of multiple accounts is taken very seriously by the Wikipedia community.

An article you recently created, Government of Fernando Poo and Annobón, is not suitable as written to remain published. Kanto7, you appear to be adding copious content to various articles of historical interest. Please note that you need to follow the policies and guidelines set down in WP:V and WP:RS. --RegentsPark (comment) 01:22, 7 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Looking through your history, I notice that this (adding content without sources) is not a new issue with you and I've warned you about this earlier - apologies, I did not recall this earlier (see [1], [2]). Please be aware that continuing to do so may be construed as disruptive or as a WP:CIR issue. --RegentsPark (comment) 01:27, 7 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Warning regarding collaboration and copying

[edit]

Collaboration is required at Wikipedia. You will be blocked if you repeat contested edits without discussing the issue on the article talk page. For example, your most recent edit is diff at Spanish Guinea. That was the third time you added that text. Please explain where the text came from because it looks as if it has been copied from somewhere and that is not permitted. Johnuniq (talk) 10:19, 5 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

It was copy pasted from tge history of Equtorial Guinea in Spanish Wikipedia. Is that against the wiki policy?. In fact all of the edits I have made come from the history section of that country from a wiki of another language Kanto7 (talk) 12:04, 5 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, it is against policy. Copying text without attribution from anywhere is not permitted. You will be blocked indefinitely if it is repeated. See these earlier explanations on this talk page:
A link to an article at the Spanish Wikipedia is written like this: [[:es:Guinea Ecuatorial]] which is displayed as es:Guinea Ecuatorial. If you have any questions, reply here or ask at WP:HELPDESK. Johnuniq (talk) 00:53, 6 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Stop icon
You have been blocked indefinitely from editing for diff (unexplained and unattributed copy/paste of 19,045 bytes) after "You will be blocked indefinitely if it is repeated" above, and the numerous other reverts at Spanish Guinea (example) with no substantive explanation. The first diff includes blunders such as "Map of Fernando Poo in 1897" and "Early 20th century (1900-1926) Edit". Mistakes are not a problem, except when they are repeated after warnings. Any appeal of this block would need to address the concerns raised on this talk page and at July 2021 ANI.
If you think there are good reasons for being unblocked, please read the guide to appealing blocks, then add the following text below the block notice on your talk page: {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}.  Johnuniq (talk) 09:43, 15 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Request reason:

I can't put this request on User:JesusJohnson7 as I have forgotten the password as I haven't used the account in 2 years. As you can see on the pages I have created (Bukovina District, Margraviate of Istria) the information on these pages is properly sourced. In fact most of my edits on my new accounts have been made in good faith. I am guilty of vandalism, copyright violations and Flogging a dead horse, however I feel that i should be unbanned on Assume good faith Kanto7 (talk) 00:04, 6 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Decline reason:

You have clearly demonstrated you are not acting in good faith, continuing to violate WP:SOCK and WP:EVADE. Your best bet is to go six months with zero edits, then apply under WP:SO. Given the sheer number of illicit sockpuppet accounts you have created, you will have a very high bar to clear at that point. You will need a more honest accounting of your awful behaviour.  Confirmed block evasion in July, 2022. This is probably enough for this user to be considered banned by the community under WP:3X. I'll leave the decline to another admin, as I reviewed last time. --Yamla (talk) 16:52, 29 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
