I'm having so much trouble understanding the numerous and myriad of all Wiki user pages, sub-pages, contribution "types", etiquette, formatting protocols and much more. I am asking the editorial committee, or those with the responsibility of helping, governing, supervising and communicating with new "wiki-users/contributors" if it would be best to "suspend" my account without cutting off my access to reading ALL published help contents for new user accounts? I'm definitely worth it for I am an intellectual with over 40 years of dedicated research into everything that I was interested in, curious about and an unquenchable desire to learn anything and everything that could be found in all venues of public documentation.

I just need time to read all published help categories for new users so that I can contribute without errors. It would be best to respond to me directly via my email, which I believe you have. Reason: I don't even know how to access other user communications left on my way talk page except by accident or luck.

I hope I've posted this correctly on my user talk page so that my dilemma can be found by those who can help in any way.

There is no need (and no way) to "suspend" your account. If you don't feel comfortable enough with Wikipedia - or with some aspects of it - to edit, you aren't forced to do so. You can still read help pages - in fact, you could read them without logging into your account at all. If you need more specific help -say, "I want to do X, how does that work?" - please do not hesitate to ask again. Personally I'd advise you to take a look at the tutorial if you want a quick introduction to Wikipedia; reading all help pages might be over-doing it (we have lots of them, and you'd probably want to look up the more esoteric ones such as Help:Table only when you need them. How you can help

Note: I'm a new user on Wiki, and am stuck, trying to find a tutorial that explains, step by step, how to proceed once account has been created and email confirmed. I understand I need to create a "Talk" page, but searching for how to CREATE a talk page for new user accounts yeilded only some information, but not how to create, a "checklist" for new user accounts, listing all steps for required user pages, talk pages, articles, etc.

Personally, I recommend that such a tutorial be created - a basic outline, listing first things to do and complete, as well as detailed steps on how to do each. Then, I recommend that a tutorial is written that will be required for the new user to read. The contents will aim at:

  • Educating the user to create knowledgeable, responsible, informed users at the start.
  • Guidelines
  • Policies
  • Rules
  • FAQs
  • Glossary of Terms
  • Sample pages showing examples of User,Talk,Sandbox Pages and Subpages for reference
  • Wiki quizzes aimed at helping the new user identify areas needing attention.
  • Checklist of all requirements, required reading, scores, accomplishments and yet to complete

This is a brief first draft of both my newly created talk page, and a top-level brief outline of my recommendation for Wiki to consider creating for new users a standardized "Welcome New User - Account Manual," so to speak.

Please also consider, if this suggestion is approved and implemented, that before any new user is permitted the access to edit all or any pages, aside from their own, created as part of the new account set-up, a final "quiz" must be taken and passed with a score of 80/100 -just an example-. TBC...
