R32/R42 interior picture
[edit]Hello, EmperorOfNYC, thanks for making your R32 and R42 interior pictures more brighter. In my opinion, they are now better than their replacements. Again thanks a lot for uploading newer interior images, and I encourage you to keep uploading more. ETI 15TrSF (Chat Box) 18:45, 14 January 2021 (UTC)
Q-Type Age vs Other Cars
[edit]Hey EmperorOfNYC,
So there's been a lot of debate ongoing about which cars had the longest service life in NYC Transit operations. I know we said that the R32s currently have this record, but it has also been said by some that the Q-Types were in service for 66 years. To put this into complete perspective, this is what one said on the AB Standard page:
"The oldest of the [AB Standard] cars had lasted for 54 years in service, currently the second longest such service lives in New York City rapid transit operations, tying with the IRT Gibbs High-Vs. The record for longevity is currently held by the Q-Types, which lasted in service for 66 years. Ironically, much of the equipment originally purchased by the BRT/BMT was retired in inverse order to the age of the equipment. The R-32's were held in service for 58 years, but they were not BRT/BMT purchased equipment. Moreover, it should be mentioned that the Philadelphia Broad St. cars, outwardly very similar to the A/B Standards, ran for 56 years before the last of them were retired in 1983."
As far as I am aware, the Q-Types lasted only over 30 years, as we mentioned before. I guess this one anonymous user keeps saying that the Q cars are 66 years as both original gate cars and rebuilds, but I'm wondering what's your take on this. Once you and I confirm lifespan, we will edit the pages accordingly. PS: no part of the quote I provided was sourced.

- I've looked at pictures that have been archived throughout the years, and its safe to say that they are DEFINETLY not ex. Gate Cars nor are they the oldest living subway car to date. There are photos of these trains brand new, and they have no resemblance to the elevated gate cars in terms of their body form or their a lot of their structure. 66 years is far too long for a subway car to be in service, and by the time that 1969 hit, they had a fan trip and were out of here. It's safe to say from whatever resources that we have, they are most certainly not the longest living - I'd say they actually ended up living pretty short lives, and could have probably lived longer if they were built more like some other actually full-on steel cars. The R-32 takes the cake, but the AB Standard is most definitely 2nd place. EmperorOfNYC (talk) 06:25, 12 June 2022 (UTC)

You may be blocked from editing without further warning the next time you add unsourced material to Wikipedia, as you did at R142A (New York City Subway car) Special:Diff/1107268577 and please stop adding the 5 train LCD sign on R142A once again if you continued to add the incorrect picture source you may blocked from editing it is not the list it will lead to vandalism you have to do reliable sources if is a 4 train or correct sources then yes so for now it has been reverted as unsourced. 174.197.129.111 (talk) 19:49, 29 August 2022 (UTC)
- You can ignore the second warning by the IP user above. Your edits are not vandalism, which has a very specific definition on Wikipedia. However, I do encourage you to open a discussion on Talk:R142A (New York City Subway car); it seems like this is a content dispute over whether a higher-quality image should be used if it's showing an uncommon destination. – Epicgenius (talk) 21:35, 29 August 2022 (UTC)
EmperorOfNYC but your R142 (New York City Subway car) LCD Screen Sign picture was good perfect back in April 8, 2021 because 5 train usually assigned to R142 which is build by Bombardier Transportation if you want to edit pictures subway articles make sure it has to be which Number or Letter assigned to the any train every page it has to be on the list of reliable sources you could still upload any picture on Wikipedia Commons but it also has to be reliable sources if you see number or letter assigned any train on every subway articles page. 174.204.133.38 (talk) 00:15, 30 August 2022 (UTC)
- I already understand what you're trying to say, but you are not even acknowledging my argument, so with all due respect I will not acknowledge yours. Go into my discussion within Talk:R142A (new York City Subway car), and actually read what I have said there. EmperorOfNYC (talk) 03:32, 30 August 2022 (UTC)
