A barnstar for you![edit]

The Graphic Designer's Barnstar
I just saw your userpage and was blown away by the intricate CSS and HTML styling!

One little comment: The purple on black is not accessible to people with visual disabilities as it has a contrast ratio of 3.1:1, which fails both WCAG AA and WCAG AAA.

I tried doing something with my Commons userpage but it's bad and also doesn't look good on mobile T~T QuickQuokka [talkcontribs] 19:06, 14 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks a lot for the feedback! I'll try to add a lighter shade of purple to the text to fix this! ChaotıċEnby(t · c) 20:52, 14 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Merry Christmas it sure got here so so fast ay? And have a good new year too because why not, ay?[edit]

From LunaEatsTuna, have a very Merry Christmas and a very prosperous and beautiful 2024!

One day in 2023, I was walking through the dark Watchlist forest observing my articles (as most egotistical content creators do), when I suddenly noticed a vandal about. He was mercilessly damaging articles left and right, including one of mine. Far to afraid to confront him myself (what's a talk page?), I waited a few minutes before going to fix my article. However, as I went to edit it, I saw that it had already been repaired by Chaotic Enby. They had swiftly reverted the vandal's edit and simply left behind a paper with their name on it. I smiled, knowing that Chaotic Enby had done good.

Over 100 other editors have thanked Chaotic Enby for their 6,100+ contributions to the encyclopaedia in 2023, chiefly for reverting vandalism. However, on their off time, Chaotic Enby enjoyed editing and creating very casual and non-contentious articles, including 16 articles about taxa throughout the year, one significant entry about Konstantin Pikalov in August, another about the super fascinating Kalambo structure in September, and the significant Operation Taungthaman and Flight of Nagorno-Karabakh Armenians in December; the latter among the most significant events of the year for which the existence of an article is absolutely pivotal.

Chaotic Enby's influence on Wikipedia has been overtly positive and I hope to see them throughout 2024 (but no pressure!).

P.S. I love your userpage and signature; I might plagiarise borrow it for my future signature if I ever feel the need to create a new one.  LunaEatsTuna (💬)— 20:16, 24 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you so much for this very well thought out message!!! Feel free to borrow my signature! (by the way, all versions are archived at User:Chaotic Enby/Signatures each time I change it)
Also designing userpages is pretty fun so if you ever have an idea feel free to ask me! ChaotıċEnby(t · c) 20:30, 24 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Well, admittedly I was going to make it super generic but then I saw that your talk page was already being flooded with those Merry Christmas templates, so I did this instead. Also, I like the idea that your user sig is gradually becoming more crooked until it eventually falls off. IDK if April Fools signatures are a thing but that would be quite humorous.  LunaEatsTuna (💬)— 00:25, 27 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Danish America[edit]

I don't see why you gave me a warning when I gave an appropriate edit summary. Denmark has colonial territories in the Americas, and that territory still exists. It is Greenland, a part of Denmark, which has Danish as a working language along with Greenlandic. Just as other European colonial settlement remnants, we have articles for such colonization British America which isn't British people in the United States, and French America which isn't France-people in the United States. -- (talk) 23:29, 25 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I left this note before I saw your reply to the previous form-letter notice -- (talk) 23:30, 25 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I just prefer to warn people when reverting them, especially since that move didn't appear to be discussed before. It's a part of the Wikipedia:BOLD, revert, discuss cycle after all! ChaotıċEnby(t · c) 23:31, 25 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Your recent reverts at List of flags of Vietnam[edit]

I have been keeping my eye on that page for some time. There have been quite a few IP changes over the past week or two. The edits seem to be a bit complex and I was not able to make a determination on whether it was vandalism. That being said, there are a couple more IP edits down the hist page that seem suspect - mind taking a look at those? Thanks, RetroCosmos (talk) 04:23, 26 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks a lot! At first glance, it appears to be IPs replacing the tables by flag galleries, and in the process removing some sourced information about the flags? Not too on board with it, although I'd call it non-constructive more than vandalism. ChaotıċEnby(t · c) 04:27, 26 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@Dxneo Thanks. No need to be that condescending about it (WP:Don't template the regulars), just pointing out that the short description was set automatically would've been enough. The original edit did not have any edit summary at all, which is why I reverted it. ChaotıċEnby(t · c) 07:52, 27 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Chaotic Enby, it would be easy if I had a list of designs to choose from, but since I don't have/know anything I think this is perfect. It would mean a lot if you set it up on my talk and the user page too 😭🔥🔥+ dxneo (talk) 10:12, 27 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

The previous claims were sourced, while the claims you made (that it was a complete govt victory with no Kurdish political gains) did not have any new sources accompanying them, so that's why I reverted them. Happy editing, ChaotıċEnby(t · c) 11:22, 28 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Bro i did not leave out the fact that the kurds did have a political victory i just put govt. Victory because the govt. Ultimately crushed the kurdish and shia rebellions, and there are sources to support this claim, happy editing😊 2603:6010:1C00:325:8996:E303:6205:2541 (talk) 14:53, 28 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I think the only thing thats opposing are people's personal wishes, and plus mist of the time when i take it to the talk page everyone either ignores what i say, or just completely delete it, so i think i should just add it back, thank you😊 2603:6010:1C00:325:8996:E303:6205:2541 (talk) 18:32, 28 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

New page reviewer granted[edit]

Hi Chaotic Enby. Your account has been added to the "New page reviewers" user group. Please check back at the permissions page in case your user right is time-limited or probationary. This user group allows you to review new pages through the Curation system and mark them as patrolled, tag them for maintenance issues, or nominate them for deletion. The list of articles awaiting review is located at the New Pages Feed. New page reviewing is vital to maintaining the integrity of the encyclopedia. If you have not already done so, you must read the tutorial at New Pages Review, the linked guides and essays, and fully understand the deletion policy. If you need any help or want to discuss the process, you are welcome to use the new page reviewer talk page or ask via the NPP Discord. In addition, please remember:

  • Be nice to new editors. They are usually not aware that they are doing anything wrong. Do make use of the message feature when tagging pages for maintenance so that they are aware.
  • You will frequently be asked by users to explain why their page is being deleted. Please be formal and polite in your approach to them – even if they are not.
  • If you are not sure what to do with a page, don't review it – just leave it for another reviewer.
  • Accuracy is more important than speed. Take your time to patrol each page, including checking for copyright violations using Earwig's copyright violation detector, checking for duplicate articles, and evaluating sources (both in the article, and if needed, via a Google search) for compliance with the general notability guideline.
  • Please review some of our flowcharts (1, 2) to help ensure you don't forget any steps.
  • Use the message feature to communicate with article creators and offer advice as much as possible.

The reviewer right does not change your status or how you can edit articles. If you no longer want this user right, you also may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. In cases of abuse or persistent inaccuracy of reviewing, or long-term inactivity, the right may be withdrawn at administrator discretion. If you can read any languages other than English, please add yourself to the list of new page reviewers with language proficiencies. — Ingenuity (talk • contribs) 17:24, 30 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks a lot! ChaotıċEnby(t · c) 17:24, 30 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hello @Chaotic Enby,
Many congratulations to you with New pages reviewer right. I hope your reviews will play a vital role in Wikipedia. I would like to request you to review few pages about the Hospitals in Nepal and suggest me if anything more I should add or remove.

Similarly, I and some other volunteers have significantly modified and rescued the article Sandesh Lamsal, which I think can be reviewed now without the COI tags.

Mistaken CSD?[edit]

I'm having trouble with earwig right now, but I'm not sure about your CSD for explicit prior permission. To be eligible for CSD, there must be no significant content that is not copyvio. Otherwise, just delete the copyvio content and request revision deletion. Note, clearly quoted content is usually OK unless manifestly unreasonable. (t · c) buidhe 01:22, 3 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

There were major parts of the article taken from two sites (including one which I couldn't directly link as it was on the blacklist), and the way they were taken meant it would be hard to delete chunks like this and still have a meaningful article afterwards. But I agree that nonetheless attempting to remove just the content could've been preferable, although admins appear to have deleted the article in the end. Thanks! ChaotıċEnby(t · c) 10:03, 3 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Sinhala Cinema Database[edit]

Hello Chaotic Enby, Good day. I noticed that you have recommended speedy deletion for the subjected article. Could you re-consider, since it's the only national database available for Sri Lankan films? I believe it deserves its own article since it also won the national website of the year in 2009. Thank you very much for your consideration. Nir007H (talk) 10:39, 3 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hello! I tagged it for speedy deletion not for reasons of importance, but as the article looked purely promotional (mentioning its uniqueness and awards, and listing stuff like their ratings which should be on their website rather than on Wikipedia). If you write the article focusing on how they are described by others (taking external sources like news articles about them), it could be a much better article and there would be no worries about speedy deletion! Thanks a lot, ChaotıċEnby(t · c) 10:42, 3 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your contributions to Monarchism in Australia. Re: block on It wiki[edit]

Thank you very much for having analysed the situation and for your reply. You are right. However, in the beginning I thought that it had been a mistake. How could I have appealed the block on the main account. And anyway, I know SP guide lines, but the first block was in my opinion complete nonsense and I asked Administrators explanations but I received no satisfactory answer. I would like to know what I can do. Kind regards, 14 novembre (talk) 16:15, 6 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Why did you revert my numbers of population?[edit]

I am a tatar myself and know these numbers from multiple sources, aswell as Wikia. Don’t just revert what you want,it takes time to write the text. Vofa (talk) 20:05, 8 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I reverted it because you changed the number without adding a source for it and called it a "typo", which wasn't the case. Feel free to add it back with a source mentioning the number! Good luck and happy editing, ChaotıċEnby(t · c) 20:10, 8 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I will. It was a typo on some region textbox. Is adding wiki sources allowed? I figure they are. Thank you. Vofa (talk) 20:11, 8 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Unfortunately, wiki sources (from Wikipedia, Wikia or other free-to-edit websites) aren't allowed, as they risk issues like citogenesis (one person editing something in, and it ending up in citations used to support that same claim). Ideally, having official population reports would be the best, but anything published (research, books, journals, even mentions in news articles) would work! ChaotıċEnby(t · c) 20:14, 8 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you,no official reports for now, they may have been falsified by bad actors on wiki. I took them as truth. The Siberian tatar number was wrong,I checked. Thank you. I understand why they may not be allowed. Also, how to create a red link while I am at it? Vofa (talk) 20:15, 8 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Do you mean adding a red link, or creating an article from a red link? For the former, it's just typing stuff inbetween brackets: [[this text]] becomes this text. For the latter, if you want to create an article, you click on the red link and it should bring you to a page to create the article. ChaotıċEnby(t · c) 20:18, 8 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Very late thank you! I need urgent help! There is a vandal which goes by the name of User:Turkiishh or something,he undid my contributions to Nogais page, aswell as Tatars and list of Tatars page. I searched his contribs,he vandalises and writes misinfo. A Turkish biased nationalist. Please,I need help with rollbacking/reverting his vandalising on the pages of Nogais,List of Tatars and Tatars,I’ll link them, please look in Edit history! It will be much appreciated as I am on mobile and cannot rollback or have special powers. List of Tatars | Tatars | Nogais i feel it’s unjust and took away all the time I’ve put in it,I need help with rollback and punishing the user. I didn’t bother to link others articles because they’re out of my field but I saw that he undoes what he doesn’t link, what isn’t pan Turkish. This user should be reported. Please help! I hope you understand :) Vofa (talk) 17:54, 9 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Hi! I'm not especially well-equipped for this: despite what some people might think, rollback doesn't give special powers to undo actions or punish editors, it just allows us to undo edits faster when going through recent edits. You're free to undo his edits on each page, especially since he didn't provide an edit summary. Also, if he's reverting you each time on different pages, it could be seen as wikihounding (following another editor around), which is usually frowned upon.
Your best bet would be to leave him a message on his talk page to tell him to stop (both the reverts without explanation and following you around), and, if he continues doing it with no explanation, making a post to WP:ANI to signal the behavior to admins (who are the ones equipped to block him). If you decide to signal him to ANI, you also have to inform him of that on his talk page. ChaotıċEnby(t · c) 18:05, 9 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I see that, thank you a lot mate,I am not the sharpest tool in the box,but he reverted all my contributions in the last few months which weren’t connected at all! He obviously wikihounded! When I try to revert it won’t let me and redirects me on the explanation page even though I already have a PC version ( I am on a phone) Vofa (talk) 18:09, 9 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
He also didn’t list a reason why would he delete my contributions, all three of them,I presume targeted. I hope you can help me 🙌🏼 Vofa (talk) 17:58, 9 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
The most needed revert would probably be for Nogais page. The Tatar pages I will edit and do a better version of it. It’s not much after all I HATE BIASED ALTS WHO REVERZS! 😆 It is a huge disservice to good faith editors! Vofa (talk) 18:07, 9 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I would agree, hence why I mostly just lurk ANI and just see the chaos that happens. I've only taken like...1 or 2 people to ANI in the entire 3 years I've been on Wikipedia. There's a reason why there's a redirect called WP:DRAMABOARD. ― Blaze WolfTalkblaze__wolf 20:35, 8 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
To be fair, it's an unfortunate consequence of its role as the place for stuff too complex for a quick AIV to handle. But yeah, really Wikipedia's messy drama board, an anti-Teahouse of sort. ChaotıċEnby(t · c) 20:40, 8 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Yep, and really it should simply just be the alternative to AIV for things that aren't exactly obvious. Also anti-Teahouse in my mind is a place to send someone who you dont want to edit Wikipedia anymore /jBlaze WolfTalkblaze__wolf 20:44, 8 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I mean, you pretty well described a big part of how ANI is used with that last sentence. /lh ChaotıċEnby(t · c) 20:46, 8 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Hahaha sadly that is pretty true. I was even sent to ANI myself twice. Don't remember what the reasons were. ― Blaze WolfTalkblaze__wolf 20:51, 8 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

why did you change it[edit]

why did you change it from Chiraz expedition to the Shiraz expedition :\ Dencoolast33 (talk) 20:13, 9 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Shiraz is the common name used for the city in English, the transliteration varies depending on countries. ChaotıċEnby(t · c) 20:31, 9 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, but it was a Swedish expedition Dencoolast33 (talk) 20:34, 9 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Labeling it as misspellet Dencoolast33 (talk) 20:37, 9 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
We are writing about it on the English Wikipedia, which is why we call it Shiraz expedition and not Chiraz-expeditionen. ChaotıċEnby(t · c) 20:39, 9 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Should we translate Swedish names to English aswell? Olav to Olof? Dencoolast33 (talk) 20:41, 9 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
No, names in the Latin alphabet are not changed like this, per MOS:ROMANIZATION. ChaotıċEnby(t · c) 20:54, 9 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
exactly Dencoolast33 (talk) 20:59, 9 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Page marked for deletion[edit]

Hi Chaotic Enby

You've marked a page I'm working on for speedy deletion. This is a draft page that I am currently building, I have not submitted it for review yet as I haven't finished writing it or adding sources. How do I mark this as a draft being worked on so it does not prematurely get removed?

Thanks Z4r4$m1th123 (talk) 15:42, 11 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi! My apologies for this. I just moved it to Draft:Barry Gough (businessman) so you can still work on it! Once you are done, feel free to submit it for review, or move it back (by removing Draft: in front of the name). Good luck, and happy editing! ChaotıċEnby(t · c) 15:44, 11 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you so much!! Panic over Z4r4$m1th123 (talk) 15:45, 11 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
No worries ^^ Thanks for asking! ChaotıċEnby(t · c) 15:46, 11 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
