I am disambiguating my self from another person in Wikipedia with a similar name as Mine

[edit]

How can I start creating an information about me so I can disambiguate my self from another person on wikipedia with the same name as I am. I am an author and mostly people confuse me with the same person on Wikipedia. CBEBbrilliance (talk) 10:39, 12 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not entirely clear on what you are referencing. If you are referring to search results from Google or other search engines, you will need to contact them for issues with search results, as Wikipedia has no control over that. You won't be permitted to create an article about yourself simply to affect search results- you must receive significant coverage in independent reliable sources showing how you meet the special Wikipedia definition of a notable creative professional. Autobiographical articles, while not forbidden, are highly discouraged, please read the autobiography policy.
If you are referring to an already existing article about yourself, please be more specific. 331dot (talk) 10:50, 12 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
There is a person with same name as I am on Wikipedia. Most people confuse that person as me. How do I remedy the situation since I am also present online. CBEBbrilliance (talk) 11:00, 12 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Please keep the discussion here, I have this page watchlisted and I will see it. As I said, Wikipedia is not responsible for search results, and is not responsible for confusion with regards to you and someone with the same name. If you meet the criteria that I mention above, there can be an article about you- but ideally you or someone associated with you shouldn't be the one to write it- but an article won't be created just to help reduce general confusion about you on the internet, I'm sorry. Do you meet the defintion of a notable creative professional? 331dot (talk) 11:12, 12 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry I am quite new to how things are done here in Wikipedia, if there is just a way to add like "Looking for this Carolyn Ellis" or an edit line on references like "Not this Carolyn Ellis" something like that since that person with the same name as I am really creates a confusion for my readers that I have to answer disambiguation every time. So it's more about minimizing these seeing wikipedia as a reference point. Short of changing my actual name.
In reference to "Notable Creative Professional" I may not be able to deem my self as such for now, but I do have articles significantly written about me and such but I am not sure to what criteria to fit my self in. I am still trying to learn the way I can "disambiguate" my self in wikipedia even if it's just a reference CBEBbrilliance (talk) 11:27, 12 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
That's something you would have to communicate with Google/other search engines about. You can't be mentioned here unless you merit an article. 331dot (talk) 11:49, 12 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on User:CBEBbrilliance, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, group, product, service, person, or point of view and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. Help me!

Please help me with... There is a person with same name as I am on Wikipedia. Most people confuse that person as me. How do I remedy the situation since I am also present online. CBEBbrilliance (talk) 11:12, 12 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Until and unless you become notable enough for an article about you to be created here, there is no need to differentiate you from any of the many thousands of other people on this planet named Carolyn Ellis. The embarrassingly fluffy little advertisement for yourself at User:CBEBbrilliance which we had to delete made it clear that you are not currently anywhere near the level of notability which makes this a problem for us. --Orange Mike | Talk 16:07, 12 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Hello Orange Mike, thank you for your input. My concern was answered above in a more polite and helpful way. I was under the impression that wikipedia is able to help me with my concerns to disambiguate. I will still continue to regularly financially support Wikipedia's fundraising efforts as I have always done so, but I would hope that your tone is an exception and not a standard way of engaging with individuals using your platform.
