Mentioning caste of living people

[edit]

In the case of BLPs, please only add their caste-related details if they self-identify with a particular caste – see here for details. The recent edits made by you seem sourced, but it seems self-identification is missing in many of them. Also, in case of non-living people, the source should explicitly state that they belong to so-and-so caste. You cannot just guess on the basis of their surname. So please be careful. - NitinMlk (talk) 18:28, 21 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Ok I understood. Thanks for reviewing it. BahujanBot (talk) 18:39, 21 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Regarding unreliable sources

[edit]

Please do not add Raj-era sources. They are considered unreliable on this project. To familiarise with unacceptable sources, see User:Sitush/CasteSources. In fact, this project mainly accepts scholarly sources for caste/history-related details – see WP:HISTRS. - NitinMlk (talk) 18:36, 21 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome to Wikipedia. I noticed that your username, "BahujanBot", may not meet Wikipedia's username policy because usernames are not allowed to appear to be a "Bot". If you believe that your username does not violate our policy, please leave a note here explaining why. As an alternative, you may ask for a change of username by completing the form at Special:GlobalRenameRequest, or you may simply create a new account for editing. Thank you. - Arjayay (talk) 18:49, 21 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Your account has been blocked from editing Wikipedia with this username. This is because your username, BahujanBot, contains the suffix "-bot", which is generally reserved for authorized bot accounts.
You are encouraged to choose a new account name that meets our policy guidelines and create the account yourself. Alternatively, if you have already made edits and you wish to keep your existing contributions under a new name, then you may request a change in username by:
  1. Adding {{unblock-un|your new username here}} below. You should be able to do this even though you are blocked, as you can usually still edit your own talk page. If not, you may wish to contact the blocking administrator by clicking on "Email this user" on their talk page.
  2. At an administrator's discretion, you may be unblocked for 24 hours to file a request.
  3. Please note that you may only request a name that is not already in use, so please check here for a listing of already taken names. The account is created upon acceptance, thus do not try to create the new account before making the request for a name change. For more information, please see Wikipedia:Changing username.
If you think that you were blocked in error, you may appeal this block by adding {{unblock|Your reason here}} below this notice, but you should read our guide to appealing blocks first. creffett (talk) 21:12, 12 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
