About your CSD nom

Hi! I've noticed that you had nominated User:Kadenphill394745/Sample page for deletion as pure vandalism. I have removed the tag because the page appears to be a sandbox, test page or preload rather than vandalism. Labelling such a page as vandalism might be considered WP:BITEy, so it would be nice if you only marked pages as vandalism if they are clearly bad-faith. Why not refresh your knowledge of CSD with Wikipedia:Field guide to proper speedy deletion? QwertyForest (talk) 15:25, 17 May 2024 (UTC)

Sorry if this doesn't apply, but I tagged it under G3 because the page seemed to be a modified version of sample page with words being altered with "bad words" which seems pretty unsuitable for Wikipedia. Either way, thanks for the link. ABG (Talk/Report any mistakes here) 15:30, 17 May 2024 (UTC)
I've taken a second look and I can see what you mean. I'm not sure that the G3 tag can be put back on. If it can't, we can MfD it. QwertyForest (talk) 15:52, 17 May 2024 (UTC)

Question from TheOmnipotentMod (20:12, 17 May 2024)

How do you create a wiki page? --TheOmnipotentMod (talk) 20:12, 17 May 2024 (UTC)

Hello! You can create a page directly on wikipedia if your account has the autoconfirmed flag, which are automatically granted in accounts that are over 4 days old and has made at least 10 edits. However, creating a new page on Wikipedia is quite a workload, and often ends up in the page getting deleted for reasons, so I recommend starting out with adding information to articles to get the basics.
If you don't have the flag, you still can technically create articles through the AFC process, which I highly recommend instead of making an article directly early on. ABG (Talk/Report any mistakes here) 22:50, 17 May 2024 (UTC)

TheRealBigJack15

Hello, I see your contribution to TheRealBigJack15 was reverted. That account has been globally locked as well as various other accounts and various IP addresses. I contacted stewards and they haven't gotten back to me yet about my previous account. Any insights or ideas? That account and all of those other accounts and IP addresses have been globally locked by Elton who I think is an administrator. What can I do? 108.2.126.127 (talk) 14:22, 19 May 2024 (UTC)

First of all, who are you? I did revert the weird notice that was being added by a non-autoconfirmed user because I suspected it to be a talk page spam (which turned out to be false). If you are TheRealJack15 (or any account you are operated under), it seems that the locking is due to the LTA, nothing I can do there as I don't have any prior experience at LTA boards. Question from TheOmnipotentMod (12:54, 20 May 2024)

How do you make an article worded the the encyclopedic style of Wikipedia? --TheOmnipotentMod (talk) 12:54, 20 May 2024 (UTC)

Hmm... I don't quite get it. Are you trying to make an article with that name or are you trying to make an article worded with the encyclopedic style of Wikipedia? If you mean the second one, could you specify what exactly you want to word? ABG (Talk/Report any mistakes here) 14:14, 20 May 2024 (UTC)

Well, although the issues have been addressed by someone else, you bolded the entire lead section, which makes it harder for people to read them. It's also worth noting you added something that wasn't notable enough to be included. However, since you got a decent amount of citations, I'm sure you did good, especially for your new article. RE: My guestbook

First of all, thank you for signing my guestbook. I am sorry if that edit crashed your browser. Question from Vinothini RYH (07:10, 28 May 2024)

Hello, How to make an edit --Vinothini RYH (talk) 07:10, 28 May 2024 (UTC)

Hello, you can edit pages by clicking on the "edit source" button. If the button instead displays "view source", then the page may be protected from editing due to repeated cases of vandalisms, or the page is controversial. The good news is that most pages on wikipedia isn't protected, and you can edit without those restrictions if your account reaches:
Over 10 edits with an account age of 3 days
Over 500 edits with an account age of 30 days
You can override some restrictions. Please don't make the same minor changes many times to achieve this however: your permission will be revoked if caught and may even result in a sanction being placed. ABG (Talk/Report any mistakes here) 07:47, 28 May 2024 (UTC)

Pending changes reviewer granted

Hello. Your account has been granted the "pending changes reviewer" userright, allowing you to review other users' edits on pages protected by pending changes. The list of articles awaiting review is located at Special:PendingChanges, while the list of articles that have pending changes protection turned on is located at Special:StablePages.

Being granted reviewer rights neither grants you status nor changes how you can edit articles. If you do not want this user right, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time.

EF Education First history rewrite

Thank you for reviewing the rewrite I proposed of the EF Education First history section. Could I ask for some examples of the sources you see as problematic? I tried to follow the guidelines and feel like these sources are as good as those of the history sections of other similar-sized education companies' articles like Kaplan,_Inc. and Pearson_plc, but would be happy to try and address the issues you've found. K8bell (talk) 13:42, 4 June 2024 (UTC)

Hello, and I rejected your request because it triggered an edit filter warning users about use of self published/blog references. I just wanted to double check if you're aware of the policy regarding that. ABG (Talk/Report any mistakes here) 11:20, 6 June 2024 (UTC)
Hello, Thanks for getting back to me so quickly. I'd understood that company/employee blogs and other company webpages could be cited in a limited way for factual information like dates or office locations http://en.wiki.x.io/wiki/Wikipedia:ABOUTSELF. Is that a misunderstanding on my part? That type of information is not cited in the press, and removing those sentences will make the history section less coherent, but I will edit them out if necessary to comply with the guidelines. K8bell (talk) 15:44, 7 June 2024 (UTC)
You don't have to edit them out on that case. I was just checking. ABG (Talk/Report any mistakes here) 02:38, 10 June 2024 (UTC)

Hi thanks for getting back to me. I think so. For example there are said to be about 400-500 Indigenous Phd ppl. This article (link below) has given me about 10 names. There will be data on Austrlian beaureu of statistics - census and news articles about leading drs to cite. What are your thoughts mate?

Just a single concern: The link you gave me is published in 2014. Isn't there a newer version? ABG (Talk/Report any mistakes here) 14:55, 15 June 2024 (UTC)
No, I have contacted the journalist that wrote it and asked him if he would write a new article. I could also contact the Koori Mail an Independent Indigenous News place and see if they will write about these Phd Scholars. Some of them are featured elsewhere more recently. I'm just making the list for now of names based on 1 reference then can dig deeper. For instance this guy graduated this year;
but I found his name via an older news article that said he was a current phd student then I search and find he's now completed.
https://www.canberra.edu.au/uncover/news-archive/2024/march/grads-2024-bradley-moggridge
Also, some of the people in the list were 'firsts' ie. first Aboriginal person to get a phd, first Torres Strait Islander woman etc. Gr8tergood (talk) 15:13, 15 June 2024 (UTC)
Alright. ABG (Talk/Report any mistakes here) 05:15, 19 June 2024 (UTC)

Question from ArchiverOrgan (06:37, 22 June 2024)

Hi, It's been bugging me for years that there's inaccurate information on a particular magazine series. I started a "talk" on the specific page, but I'm not sure it will be seen. --ArchiverOrgan (talk) 06:37, 22 June 2024 (UTC)

Because that page is not protected, why not be bold and fix it yourself? (Although if you are requesting that the file name be changed due to factual errors, there is a better chance to receive attention if you seek help at the talk page of WP:MAG.) However, in Wikipedia, editors are required to link most claims with a reliable source, and your edit to File talk:Juggs August 1981.jpg doesn't have any. The page for New Zealand men's national basketball team isn't going to get deleted. The template only says that the article may be too long to navigate through comfortably, and that the article has too many headers. A part of it may be split to a different page so that the original page can have a summary of the split page. (ex. Japan -> History of Japan, Demographics of Japan, etc...) I'm sure you have the "Homepage" tab next to your user page, so why not start with tasks listed there? ABG (Talk/Report any mistakes here) 00:41, 6 July 2024 (UTC)

Question from Biggollden (16:32, 7 July 2024)

Hello AlphaBetaGamma,

I am just wondering what are generally considered good sources of information. For example, I was trying to edit an article about some kind of soft drink. One of the websites I found was a website selling the product. Would that be considered a good source of information? If not, then what kind of sources should I look for in that circumstance? --Biggollden (talk) 16:32, 7 July 2024 (UTC)

Sources would be useful if they have a significant coverage of articles subject and are considered reliable per WP:RSP. I'm not quite sure if a website selling drinks are a good source for the mentioned drink. Maybe try finding a different source supporting claims that you want to make? Question on A lot of non-independent sources being used in the article.

Hello ABG,

Thank you very much for your review. Regarding my article "Faith Leads University," the non-independent sources primarily appear in the "Partnerships" section. This is because these partnerships are not publicly displayed on the partner websites; instead, the signed documents or evidence are accessible on our website.

If these sources are still considered non-independent, would the article qualify if I remove this section? I appreciate your assistance. Ponivehu (talk) 02:44, 12 July 2024 (UTC)

I was saying that the self-published sources seems to appear too much. The partnership section looks fine from the first look. ABG (Talk/Report any mistakes here) 03:28, 12 July 2024 (UTC)
Thank you for your response, much appreciated. Please, do I remove the self-published sources and just keep the article the way it is with the independent sources ? I would like to know what you consider appropriate. Thank you. Ponivehu (talk) 03:41, 12 July 2024 (UTC)
Instead of removing them, try to find an another source supporting the statement and also going in-depth about the article subject first. Removing all of them is not necessary at all, actually. My own concern is the footnote 3, which uses the subject's official Youtube video. While this and the self-published source isn't something that can never be used(WP:ABOUTSELF), it's always worth it to try to find a reliable source that isn't from a social media.
Lastly, this is just a check, but you did not copy-paste the contents from other websites into the draft, right? (The reason I'm asking this is because the tone of the article seems to be written from the subject's perspective.) Copyright problems are one of the many reasons new editors are barred from making articles directly. Thank you. ABG (Talk/Report any mistakes here) 04:15, 12 July 2024 (UTC)
Thanks for all the positive feedback. This is a learning process for me. It is original content and not copied from another website, will try to make the tone as objective as possible. Will also remove the social media links. Where I am unable to find other sources, I will remove the citation. After this I will resubmit.
This faith based school had only one reference and citation, yet it was approved - Faith International University & Seminary. I followed this as a guide.

Question from SpankyMcRee (02:49, 13 July 2024)

Hi there! Nice to meet you, I had a couple questions as I'm pretty new to editing on Wikipedia and I would like to make some pages and edits. Specifically I'm trying to clean up the and finish the Yun-Dongju page and I would like to create a new page for Song Monggyu. If you had any pointers involving what's appropriate for edits and building from the ground up, especially syntax and copyright rules, it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your time! --SpankyMcRee (talk) 02:49, 13 July 2024 (UTC)

Help:Your first article might help, but I'll shorten what it says.
If you are publishing your first article, you have to see if the article subject has significant coverage in reliable sources. If you don't have a conflict of interest in the article subject, I advise you to make a draft and submit it for the articles for creation process after completing the draft. Request on 03:05:11, 16 July 2024 for assistance on AfC submission by GokuSS400

So...I read your message regarding the Gotchard episodes list. However, unless this is a new standard implemented in the last year, summaries obtained from Tv Asashi (which is where all the episode summaries for the Kamen Rider franchise come from) should be enough. Looking at episode lists for the rest of the Reiwa-era Kamen Riders, Tv Asashi episode summaries are the only sources cited for these articles as well (Zero-One, Saber, Revice, and Geats).

exactly what other sources should be here for this specific case? and why is it that more sources are being requested in this case, when episode summaries sourced from TV Asashi have been deemed sufficient enough for full publication (in regards to Kamen Rider episode lists)

more information or guidance in the right direction would be very nice. GokuSS400 (talk) 03:05, 16 July 2024 (UTC) GokuSS400

Question from Garima badiwal (19:07, 23 July 2024)

I want to publish a article --Garima badiwal (talk) 19:07, 23 July 2024 (UTC)

Hello, I've taken a look at your userpage, but I'm sorry to inform you that Wikipedia is not a web hosting service, and publishing articles that blatantly promote a non-notable subject, even drafts, will get you blocked from editing. ABG (Talk/Report any mistakes here) 12:37, 24 July 2024 (UTC)

Question from Abdushariff Muhumuza (10:36, 24 July 2024)

What do I need to start editing? --Abdushariff Muhumuza (talk) 10:36, 24 July 2024 (UTC)

This may have what you need to get you started, but this page is painfully long if you are looking for a certain thing. In my opinion, newcomer homepages are far more simple for newcomers, and I recommend using these for your first hundred edits or so. They should be located in the top-left of your userpage. If you have any additional specific questions, feel free to ask here! ABG (Talk/Report any mistakes here) 12:46, 24 July 2024 (UTC)

Question from AstrophysicistThemis (17:45, 24 July 2024)

Hello Mentor, I'm an Astrophysicist here to post about the subject. What do you think of the fact (according my opinion), that at the Centers of the Galaxies are only Huge Stars, that their pull dictates, stabilizes and manipulates the existence of the Stars within their Galaxy and the theory of the Black Holes is an unacceptable and imbecile thought, because the black holes are (according their mentors) entities that pull only, entities that according my opinion does not exist, because all the facts works against the black holes and support the existence of the MAIN STARS within a Solar system and within a Galactic system. --AstrophysicistThemis (talk) 17:45, 24 July 2024 (UTC)

Gabriele Scheler draft page

Hi ABG, I found that you edited a page which seems completely outside of your expertise (Japan) namely the biography of a living scientist and founder of a notable non-profit research institution, the Carl Correns Foundation. You rejected the page, bc some of the sentences in the biography were inadequately sourced. That does not seem a valid reason, since these data can be added over time. It does not mean that the scientist in question should not have their page. Their is a lengthy discussion about the 8 criteria on the talk page, and how these criteria were actually met. Did someone vandalize your authorship? It looks as if this could have happened. There is some spiteful entities here whuch may have caused some trouble. In any case, please review the material, which contains much valuable resources and citations. PowerUser22 (talk) 20:39, 26 July 2024 (UTC)

G13 Pit?

Hello ABG; I came across an AfC draft, particularly Draft:Vicente Vallés, where you said the following in a declination message: "There definitely was a lot of effort in saving the article from the G13 pit"; could you elaborate on what you mean by this? G13 isn't a pit, and most new-er users utilizing the AfC process aren't familiar with speedy deletion or specific CSD criteria (and even I'm a bit confused by the phrasing lol). The page was deleted in July '23 and undeleted in Sept '24. Utopes (talk / cont) 02:09, 12 September 2024 (UTC)

Senyera

Hello! I would like to know exactly why my edit at Senyera is considered vandalism. Sincerely, 79.152.98.103 (talk) 23:20, 12 September 2024 (UTC)

Hello! I immediately reverted your edit when I saw "NUTS 1 NUTS 2", because almost every time someone inserts the word "NUT" in all-caps is a vandal attempt. Seems like this was a rare case. Really sorry for that, you can remove the warning. Also, you might want to retarget some of the disambiguating links and link them to the intended target (just a nitpick) ABG (Talk/Report any mistakes here) 23:57, 12 September 2024 (UTC)

Question from GrammarAsh (03:34, 14 September 2024)

Hi! It's cool that Wikipedia assigns mentors to new users, I didn't know that was a thing. I'm looking at an article that I think could use some cleaning up: (http://en.wiki.x.io/wiki/Thin-film_equation) In the "Properties" section, the first paragraph is made up of four sentences that all end with footnote numbers, where the sentences don't sound correct when read aloud. It seems like the intention of the original author was to include the names of these external sources and then use the footnote numbers to link them to the References section, but only the footnote numbers were included, and not a name of the journal or paper. I'm also not sure if this paragraph fits with the manual of style, as it seems to just be a way of shortening the article by assuming that readers will follow those external links if they are interested in those topics, rather than simply including the sources in the "Further reading" section. I feel like if an external source has information valuable enough to include in the article itself, then that information should at least be summarized in a way that connects its concepts to the main topic. If I decided to spend my time doing that, however, it would require reading five articles from scientific journals in a field of mathematics that I've never formally studied...it would take longer for me to do it than if the original author were to summarize them. If I don't want to go through all of that, I might use an internal link and name the scientific journals that these papers were published in. I still feel like that would just be perpetuating the issue of "these should just be external links listed at the end of the article". I don't think I'll make my edit just yet, since I feel like what really needs to happen with this article is to take that paragraph out, remove the footnote numbers, and convert their corresponding references into "Further reading" links. That feels like a pretty complex edit for me to be doing as my first. --GrammarAsh (talk) 03:34, 14 September 2024 (UTC)

Sorry that I was late to respond, I am really lazy on weekends and holidays, which this monday is. I don't get your intention here. Are you asking me to do an edit, or are you asking me how to do an edit? ABG (Talk/Report any mistakes here) 23:08, 15 September 2024 (UTC)
Hey no worries! I realize my question was a little bit too flow-of-consciousness for a question, as I was kind of just looking for a way to say hi and also summarize my train of thought on this edit I was doing myself, and maybe asking for advice from you—I ended up deciding what to do, finishing up the formatting of it, and then quickly submitting the edit and going to bed when I realized it was getting late and I had an event to wake up early for the next day. Now that I look back, I think my edit was fine and I don't know why I was agonizing over it, lol. GrammarAsh (talk) 01:33, 16 September 2024 (UTC)
