[edit]License tagging for Image:Nightwish - Faster Harder Nightwish.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:Nightwish - Faster Harder Nightwish.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.
For more information on using images, see the following pages:
This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 17:09, 1 April 2007 (UTC)
Native American Extermination Song?
[edit]Hi, I notice you've been adding that into various places today and was wondering if you have any outside references on the subject. I'd like to know more about it. NerwenGreen 23:15, 11 April 2007 (UTC)
- All the information I know is in the article (Native American Extermination Song). I don't have any written or professional information about the subject, though. - Aki 13:41, 12 April 2007 (UTC)
- What I'm looking for is something that demonstrates that you didn't just make the whole thing up, which means something outside of Wikipedia. Where did you hear the term from? Where is it widely used and by whom? How long has it been in use? etc. I've tried a google search on "Native American Extermination Song" and found nothing; do you have other suggestions on things to search on? NerwenGreen 15:11, 12 April 2007 (UTC)
- I have never seen or heard the term in the outside of my closest friendship or so. It wouldn't surprise me if we are the only users of this term. If this is enough for you to erase the article, do so. I can't defend the article more than by saying what I have already said. - Aki 15:14, 12 April 2007 (UTC)
- I think it's a cool term, and maybe it (or something similar) will catch on and become widespread later on. But at the moment it's not really appropriate for a place like Wikipedia. Incidentally if you haven't heard it yet, Midnight Oil's Beds Are Burning is another one with a similar theme, except about Australia instead of North America. NerwenGreen 15:20, 12 April 2007 (UTC)
- Hah, that's cool. I understand and accept that Wikipedia don't need articles that doesn't have any proof of existing, or a larger spread. It's sad, though, I think a term like this is needed in public, as a lot of songs are about this very theme. - Aki 15:23, 12 April 2007 (UTC)

Articles
[edit]Hi Aki, I'm afraid some of the pages you've created (Calm cover metal, Hellsongs and Lounge (EP) are the ones I've happened to notice) don't meet Wikipedia content standards. There are two ways to do this - you can agree to their deletion, or they go to a deletion process. Please read WP:ATT and WP:MUSIC, and tell me if you want to do this quietly or in public. If there is evidence of significance that you haven't yet added to these articles, now would be the time to do so. Please ask me any questions you might have. Happy editing! Deiz talk 15:08, 16 April 2007 (UTC)
- I do understand the deletion of calm cover metal, but not Lounge (EP) and Hellsongs. No one has even put in a deletion template. And you can't say that the infame of the band doesn't belong here, as another wikipedian said when I was putting in Bless This Mess on the Swedish Wikipedia; the band truly is famous. - Aki 17:28, 16 April 2007 (UTC)
I have added a "{{prod}}" template to the article Lounge (EP), suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but I don't believe it satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and I've explained why in the deletion notice (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may contest the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}}
notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page. Also, please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. Fram 20:54, 16 April 2007 (UTC)
- Can you please tell me the REASON of deleting the article? You never got that far. - Aki 20:57, 16 April 2007 (UTC)
- I suggest you stop creating pages until the notability issie is resolved. I haven't noticed any independent verification of notability that would satisfy WP:ATT for any of these articles. Deiz talk 23:47, 16 April 2007 (UTC)
- The reason is there on the page: "Non notable cover EP by perhaps barely notable band (although I doubt even that) No charts, no reviews, no evidence for any of the claims (the homepage of the band is not really evidence)." No reliable sources to indicate any notability, basically. Fram 05:01, 17 April 2007 (UTC)
- There are three reviews under References. - Aki 09:42, 17 April 2007 (UTC)
- Make sure you're up on exactly what is expected of sources. Unknown / unaccredited 3rd party reviews don't verify notability. Deiz talk 10:04, 17 April 2007 (UTC)
- There were none when I prodded the article, and the only one now that is not immediately clear to be not acceptable is the GetMetal one, which still seems fairly non notable to me. Please check out our WP:MUSIC page to see what kind of coverage we expect for atricles on music to be acceptable. Fram 10:29, 17 April 2007 (UTC)
- There are three reviews now. I've sorted them under Reviews. - Aki 10:35, 17 April 2007 (UTC)
- Please don't add blogs as references, or create circular redirects. Deiz talk 11:00, 17 April 2007 (UTC)
- What do you mean with "circular redirects"? - Aki 11:02, 17 April 2007 (UTC)
- The names of the band members redirected to the main article, and shouldn't be linked. You also appear to have uploaded the photo with an incorrect tag. Deiz talk 11:09, 17 April 2007 (UTC)
- To be fair, they only became circular redirects after I redirected them to the main article (since they contained no info beyond what was in the article). AkiShinji, you shouldn't post links to your own blog, per WP:EL and because blogs are very rarely good sources for a Wikipedia article. Fram 11:28, 17 April 2007 (UTC)
- The blogs are containing reviews, isn't that what you asked me for? - Aki 12:08, 17 April 2007 (UTC)
- Reviews from reliable sources (please see WP:RS about this). Anyone can write a blog (or ten blogs). Please, do read some of our policiy and guideline pages concerning what is and isn't acceptable as content for Wikipedia pages: WP:V, WP:RS and (for music) WP:MUSIC are good starters. We don't want to have pages for every band with a few fans, no matter if these fans have put their approval on a blog or website or myspace page or not. Fram 12:29, 17 April 2007 (UTC)

Tag removal
[edit]I'm seriously troubled by your removal of the Articles for Deletion notice from Hellsongs. Consider this a final warning, any further such actions and I'll have no choice but to block you. Deiz talk 11:35, 24 April 2007 (UTC)
Tag removal (unfree image)
[edit]You also appear to be confused about the image - it remains listed as a possible unfree image, and per the instructions on that page will do so until it is processed 14 days after being listed. What do you claim has been "deleted"? I seriously suggest you endeavour to read and understand policy before making any more edits on Wikipedia. Deiz talk 11:52, 24 April 2007 (UTC)
- I thought that it was clear that the image was free. Read the discussion. If I understood this wrongly, I am sorry, but as no one answered on the discussion I thought that there were no other complains. - Aki 12:43, 24 April 2007 (UTC)
- The user who listed the image will have a greater understanding of image policy than me, but as I understand it the statement on the website does not explicitly allow redistribution, just downloading. Inferring the ability to repost the image on other sites (eg Wikipedia) is not possible from such a statement. You could contact the website and ask them to update the statement. Deiz talk 12:55, 24 April 2007 (UTC)
- I sent away an e-mail, so now I'm just waiting for answers. - Aki 13:00, 24 April 2007 (UTC)

Another editor has added the "{{prod}}" template to the article Faster Harder Nightwish, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but the editor doesn't believe it satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and has explained why in the article (see also Wikipedia:What Wikipedia is not and Wikipedia:Notability). Please either work to improve the article if the topic is worthy of inclusion in Wikipedia or discuss the relevant issues at its talk page. If you remove the {{prod}} template, the article will not be deleted, but note that it may still be sent to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. Oo7565 07:15, 27 April 2007 (UTC)
- I've redirected to the parent article. If external, independent sources (not the band website) verify the importance of this, you should mention it there. If it's just something the band came up with to fool around, maybe it isn't all that important. Deiz talk 07:28, 27 April 2007 (UTC)
Come on
[edit]I'm a little tired of treading this ground, but here goes. Pages such as Demo '97 have no place on Wikipedia. Before you add a new page, ask yourself - is this encyclopedic? If Hellsongs falls below the standard required, then Demo '97 certainly doesn't qualify. Please stop making myself and other editors clean up your non-notable creations. Continued failure to adhere to Wikipedia policies and practices will result in a block for disruption. Deiz talk 07:32, 27 April 2007 (UTC)
- Other band's demos qualify, why doesn't The Haunted's? Example: Demo (Nightwish).
- No, redirected that one too. A demo could qualify if there is evidence it is notable. None was provided on either of those examples. Deiz talk 04:05, 28 April 2007 (UTC)
- Okay. I redirect Demo '97 as well, then. - Aki 13:27, 28 April 2007 (UTC)
- Redir is OK, although the title is so generic it's not really worth it. You've created a circular redirect on the discography page now. Deiz talk 13:52, 28 April 2007 (UTC)
- Okay. I redirect Demo '97 as well, then. - Aki 13:27, 28 April 2007 (UTC)

How do I report a user?
[edit]How to I report this user to get him banned or something? What he does is he's replacing articles with things like "my butt" and so on... Is there any warning-template I can use or something? - Aki 23:55, 30 April 2007 (UTC)
- Post the user's name on WP:AIAV. Make sure you warned him/her first. BuickCenturydriver (Honk, contribs) 23:58, 30 April 2007 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free image (Image:Alyson Avenue.gif)
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:Alyson Avenue.gif. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Aksibot 04:01, 29 May 2007 (UTC)

[edit]Non-free use disputed for Image:Krypteria In Medias Res.jpg
[edit]This file may be deleted. |
Thanks for uploading Image:Krypteria In Medias Res.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read carefully the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content and then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our Criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 05:12, 5 June 2007 (UTC)
Fair use rationale for Image:WhileYourLipsAreStillRed.png
[edit]Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:WhileYourLipsAreStillRed.png. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. [edit]Edgar Allan Poe
[edit]Hi! Since your userpage confesses you are a fan of Edgar Allan Poe, I wanted to invite you to take a look at the POE PORTAL. It's still new and in development so I am looking for contributors/supports/fans/whatever. There's also a recommended "to-do" list if you want to help out with some of the Poe-related articles on Wikipedia. Well, I hope you'll take a look. Many thanks! --Midnightdreary 17:46, 6 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit]A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Nightwish (song), suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). Fair use rationale for Image:To Die For - Wounds Wide Open.jpg

[edit]Speedy deletion of Die Alive (song)
[edit]A tag has been placed on Die Alive (song) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a band, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for musical topics.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}}
to the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. [edit]Image source problem with Image:Acme2.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:Acme2.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.
As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 04:58, 18 April 2008 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. —Bkell (talk) 04:58, 18 April 2008 (UTC)
Orphaned non-free media (Image:Acme2.jpg)
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:Acme2.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 12:16, 24 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit]Proposed deletion of Demo (Nightwish)
[edit]A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Demo (Nightwish), suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}}
notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.
Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. Nightwish music
[edit]All I'm point out is that it's flawed in what it is saying. A lot of female fronted bands are not taking things from Nightwish. On top of that Women such as Doro, Lita Ford and bands such as The Gathering are the true pioneers of female fronted metal. Also the term female fronted is aimed at any band that plays Black, Death, Power, Prog, etc. It reads in such away that any metal band with a female is A) Gothic B) they are influenced by Nightwish and C) leaving out the fact that female fronted bands play all different kinds of metal. To-Mera for example has taken nothing from Nightwish. Arch Enemy is Melodic Death metal with a lead female.
Nightwish was early identified as pioneers in the field of female heavy metal vocalists, being laughed at in their early years as they followed bands such as The Gathering and Doro[49]. According to Holopainen, the idea of Nightwish wasn't as brilliant as it may sound - to mix styles of female operatic vocals and metals - but it was a mere coincidence as Turunen was asked into the band while they still were an acoustic project, and then things eveloped by themselves. The usage of a female vocalist has however become a sort of trademark, though less so since the outbreak of new female fronted metal bands in the mid-2000s with the popularization of bands such as Evanescence and (the later) Within Temptation, and several gothic metal bands mixing female and male vocals, such as Tristania, Epica and the early Within Temptation.>>>>
That just dose not read very well at all. I would say it would be better worded a long the lines of Nightwish helped to push Female fronted metal to the front or something like that. I would also drop the Gothic Part as being the only genre to mix the female and male vocals. Ram-Zet, and The Project Hate also mix female and male vocals. Besides that really has nothing to do with the music style at that point. It's just saying to much and then gets away from being about Nightwish. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.224.211.86 (talk) 21:11, 20 October 2008 (UTC)
Redirect of Nightwish 7th Album
[edit]Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Nightwish 7th Album, by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Nightwish 7th Album is a redirect to a non-existent page (CSD R1).
To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Nightwish 7th Album, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Feel free to contact the bot operator if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot, bearing in mind that this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it does not perform any nominations or deletions itself. [edit]Nazzzz keeps editing out info about Epica(band) that has sources. It's not fair and wrong that he is playing by his own rules. If there need to be sources well I gave a source showing that Epica is Prog Metal. But now he says there needs to be a concensus. Well I had listed Progarchives.com and he took that out to. [edit]License tagging for Image:My_Dying_Bride.png
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:My_Dying_Bride.png. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information; to add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia.

An article you created maybe deleted soon: Tools which can help you
[edit]The article you created: All Against All may be deleted from Wikipedia.
There is an ongoing debate about whether your article should be deleted here:
The faster you respond on this page, the better chance the article you created can be saved.
Finding sources which mention the topic of your article is the very best way to avoid an article being deleted {{Findsources3}}:
- Find sources for All Against All : google news recent, google news old, google books, google scholar, NYT recent, NYT old, a9, msbooks, msacademic ...You can then cite these results in the Article for deletion discussion.
Also, there are several tools and helpful editors on Wikipedia who can help you:
- List the page up for deletion on Article Rescue Squadron. You can get help listing your page on the Article Rescue Squadron talk page.
- You can request a mentor to help explain all of the complex rules that editors use to get a page deleted: Wikipedia:Adopt-a-User. But don't wait for a mentor to respond to you before responding on the article for deletion page.
- When trying to delete a page, veteran editors love to use a lot of rule acronyms. Don't let these acronyms intimidate you.
Here is a list acronyms you can use yourself: WP:Deletion debate acronyms which may support the page you created being kept. - You can vote to merge the article into a larger or better established article on the same topic.
If your page is deleted, you still have many options available. Good luck! travb (talk) 03:39, 15 January 2009 (UTC)

[edit]Proposed deletion of The Dark Tower (film)
[edit]A proposed deletion template has been added to the article The Dark Tower (film), suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process because of the following concern:

notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.
