User talk:A Train/Archive XII
This is a clear keep or at least a no consensus. Given the discussion at Wikipedia:Deletion review/Log/2017 May 7 on a very similar AfD I would ask you to reconsider your close. Thanks. -- Necrothesp (talk) 09:54, 10 May 2017 (UTC)
- Hi Necrothesp, I disagree that it's a clear keep or even a no consensus. I recognized that it was going to be a contentious decision no matter what that decision was, so that's the reason for my unusually wordy rationale. By all means take the decision to Deletion Review if you choose, but I don't intend to reverse it myself. Cheers, A Traintalk 10:02, 10 May 2017 (UTC)
- Okay. I shall do. -- Necrothesp (talk) 10:46, 10 May 2017 (UTC)
Deletion review for Korea Kent Foreign School
[edit]An editor has asked for a deletion review of Korea Kent Foreign School. Because you closed the deletion discussion for this page, speedily deleted it, or otherwise were interested in the page, you might want to participate in the deletion review. -- Necrothesp (talk) 10:55, 10 May 2017 (UTC)
No Consensus For Deletion Question
[edit]Hi, A Train. I have a question. When there is no consensus for a deletion (mostly because editors were not interested in voting), is it OK to be WP:BOLD and do something about it? I was thinking of redirecting Somos Los Otros NY to 2014 Iguala mass kidnapping, and adding a short paragraph about the organization on the main article. Somos Los Otros NY is unencyclopedic and is not notable for Wikipedia, but since this is an obscure topic in Wikipedia, few will care to have a say on it. ComputerJA (☎ • ✎) 19:13, 10 May 2017 (UTC)
- Hey ComputerJA, happy to help. I think it might be straining the limits of BOLD to do that unilaterally. What I'd suggest is going over to the 2014 Iguala mass kidnapping talk page and proposing a merger over there. I see that both pages are relatively low traffic, but it's worth attempting to forge a rough consensus anyway. If you can convince other editors to see things your way -- or if a few days go by with no engagement, then go for it.
- I'd warn you against just redirecting it straightaway, especially because you're the editor who nominated it for deletion. I know you think the article doesn't belong on Wikipedia, but it's been here for a year and a couple of more days won't be the end of the world. A Traintalk 19:32, 10 May 2017 (UTC)
- Thanks for your suggestion. I really appreciate it. I'll give it a couple of weeks or so once I propose the merger, and see where it goes from there. Cheers, ComputerJA (☎ • ✎) 19:40, 10 May 2017 (UTC)

I agree with the close but I wanted to mention something about the closing comment. You said: A clear consensus ...amongst the non-sock puppets
. If by sock puppets you meant MSPROJECTBUREAU and Tensinet, I believe they are the same user after redirect. Did I miss something? Thanks. Eggishorn (talk) (contrib) 16:27, 11 May 2017 (UTC)
- Nope, I didn't realise those were the same account until I looked further into Seismic architecture, and that was after I'd closed the AfD in question. Doesn't affect the outcome. A Traintalk 16:33, 11 May 2017 (UTC)
- Ok. Thanks. Eggishorn (talk) (contrib) 16:39, 11 May 2017 (UTC)
In regards to a dispute
[edit]I was wondering if you would help resolve a situation. On here there was a talk http://en.wiki.x.io/wiki/Talk:American_English#Inland_North about the inland north section being fine as is. That there was no need to tag it. Two others agree with this. And after waiting for 8 days, I decided to remove the tag. LakeKayak is now accusing me of causing and edit war over this, when it was 3 against 1 towards the view that the Inland north section was fine. Can you please help out? I feel like I should be able to remove the tag, considering it was debated with 4 users and a period of time passed (8 days) before deciding to edit. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Zero077 (talk • contribs) 02:27, 12 May 2017 (UTC)
- Sure -- I weighed in over at the talk page. Hopefully I can help you find a resolution. A Traintalk 10:57, 12 May 2017 (UTC)

Imbibe until the headache goes away.
[edit]You made a valiant effort at this DRV. The cabal decided that it doesn't follow rules it doesn't like. You made the mistake of sticking to those rules instead of bowing to the cabal. You have my respect but I'm probably not long for Wikipedia, anyway. Chris Troutman (talk) 10:16, 17 May 2017 (UTC) |

Looking for an article that may have been deleted
[edit]You are first in line on the list of active administrators, so you win. I am looking for an article about John Schindler, author, security/counter-intelligence analyst. I almost swear I have read it in the past, but can find nothing now. I would if it was deleted and why.
Thanks. (NotHoratio (talk) 21:43, 31 May 2017 (UTC))
- Hey @NotHoratio: -- is it this guy? There's no article at John Schindler, or any now-deleted old article, as far as I can see. I also checked Jon Schindler just in case, but same deal there. A Traintalk 21:51, 31 May 2017 (UTC)
That's him. I must have read an article about him somewhere else then. Memory issues...Thanks. (NotHoratio (talk) 21:54, 31 May 2017 (UTC))

- An RfC proposing an off-wiki LTA database has been closed. The proposal was broadly supported, with further discussion required regarding what to do with the existing LTA database and defining access requirements. Such a tool/database formed part of the Community health initiative's successful grant proposal.
- Some clarifications have been made to the community banning and unblocking policies that effectively sync them with current practice. Specifically, the community has reached a consensus that when blocking a user at WP:AN or WP:ANI, it is considered a "community sanction", and administrators cannot unblock unilaterally if the user has not successfully appealed the sanction to the community.
- An RfC regarding the bot policy has closed with changes to the section describing restrictions on cosmetic changes.
- Users will soon be able to blacklist specific users from sending them notifications.
- Following the 2017 elections, the new members of the Board of Trustees include Raystorm, Pundit and Doc James. They will serve three-year terms.

"Fly fierra" "Fierra fly"
[edit]Hello Mr A Train what a pleasure to meet you. Today i come to you out of stress and dismay...i was recently accused of sock puppetry multiple times and blocked multiple times in assumption that i was an particular user that i have no connection to which was banned indefinitely without any warning or anything...they even went as far as to put an administrator block on the article tile and salted the article titles...I love to cover hip hop and write about hip hop and i read that you have a love for hip hop yourself...i was hoping that you could look into this simple matter and get to the bottom of this because the account john smooth was banned indefinitely without warning or minimal penalization first...and they put admin locks on particular subject that he started which was the Fly fierra article which is written sited referenced and meets the wiki 3 laws of notability yet nobody can create it because somebody wanted to be a pain and put a admin block on the subject/article....and ontop of that ive been wrongfully banned and accused of sock puppetry without warns just straight bans..smh help me please MR thank you so much in advance im such you will get to the bottom of this and find justice! thanks mr a train. - Fuzzy search will soon be added to Special:Undelete, allowing administrators to search for deleted page titles with results similar to the search query. You can test this by adding
?fuzzy=1
to the URL, as with Special:Undelete?fuzzy=1. Currently the search only finds pages that exactly match the search term. - A new bot will automatically revision delete unused file versions from files in Category:Non-free files with orphaned versions more than 7 days old.
- Fuzzy search will soon be added to Special:Undelete, allowing administrators to search for deleted page titles with results similar to the search query. You can test this by adding
- A newly revamped database report can help identify users who may be eligible to be autopatrolled.
- A potentially compromised account from 2001–2002 attempted to request resysop. Please practice appropriate account security by using a unique password for Wikipedia, and consider enabling two-factor authentication. Currently around 17% of admins have enabled 2FA, up from 16% in February 2017.
- Did you know: On 29 June 2017, there were 1,261 administrators on the English Wikipedia – the exact number of administrators as there were ten years ago on 29 June 2007. Since that time, the English Wikipedia has grown from 1.85 million articles to over 5.43 million.
AFD/Katharine Gorka
[edit]Hey "A," (Don't know why, but that amused me.)
I was also a tad bit confused by your comment in closing the Katharine Gorka AFD. You wrote that your wife: "often reminds me, marriage confers many benefits and responsibilities -- but notability is not among them."
Which begs the question: so your wife is notable - but you're not?? Say it ain't so, Joe! Say it ain't so! X4n6 (talk) 02:01, 9 July 2017 (UTC)
