Remove "former" in the first sentence

[edit]

He's not a "former rapper". He's in jail now, so he's not rapping at the moment. This seems to be speculation/WP:CRYSTAL that he's never going to release music again. Nobody knows that. PRicoNMI (talk) 16:37, 25 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Done. 162 etc. (talk) 18:22, 25 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
If anything, he may as well be still active, so the end date for when he is active is still present until he gets convicted or is retired. BaldiBasicsFan (talk) 20:42, 2 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Makes sense. --87.114.4.224 (talk) 20:18, 19 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Quincy was not adopted by Sean Combs. Several articles prove this inaccurate. Quincy’s biological father also says he was never adopted by Sean Combs. Hence, this is the reason why Quincy still has his father’s last name which is Brown. Mingdynasty25 (talk) 08:12, 29 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Sean "Puffy" Combs

[edit]

I note the recent revert of Combs' alias "Puffy" in the lead. This was verifiably his stage name in the early days of Bad Boy.[1][2] Sean "Puffy" Combs was the executive producer on Bad Boy's early releases, Project: Funk Da World[3] and Ready to Die[4] being among the most famous. Heck, even two early biographies [5][6] were written about Sean "Puffy" Combs. There is no reason not to include "Puffy" in the lead. 162 etc. (talk) 17:41, 31 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

@Cena332: You were the one who reverted this. Do you have a rebuttal to add? 162 etc. (talk) 17:19, 2 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Yes check past edits on previous conversation when we reached a consensus. --Cena332 (talk) 14:41, 8 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

If you're referring to Talk:Sean Combs/Archive 2#Grammar Correction, I hardly see a "consensus" there. That whole thread barely addresses "Puffy", and the participants make no reference to any actual Wikipedia policies and guidelines.
I've presented several citations from reliable sources that indicate that Combs used "Puffy" as a stage name. What reason do you have for not including verified facts in the article? 162 etc. (talk) 17:49, 8 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
we all reached a consensus in back in May to keep the lead the way it is. HumansRightsIsCool (talk) 02:51, 14 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Sex offender

in the spirit of consistency he needs to be labeled a sex trafficker and sex offender once convicted 73.38.90.121 (talk) 01:27, 1 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Not done: it's not clear what changes you want to be made. Please mention the specific changes in a "change X to Y" format and provide a reliable source if appropriate. Sophisticatedevening (talk) 14:46, 14 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Years active

[edit]

While I don't think "former" should be included in the opening sentence of his Wikipedia page (unless he's found guilt and sentenced to prison), I do think that the "Years active" part of his infobox should be 1990-2024 instead of 1990-present which is what is currently being used. I also think there is precedent for this, as the "Years active" section on the infobox for R. Kelly ends in 2019, when he was dropped from his record label and arrested. CY223 (talk) 05:23, 20 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

We should do this, and then we could add a new set of dates if he resumes his musical career when he gets out of prison. Diannaa (talk) 11:56, 20 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Request: mention his actual arrest date of Monday, September 16, 2024. It’s nowhere in the article. JamesFames! (talk) 23:48, 24 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
