Personal life
[edit]In 2017, Jesse Williams had a highly-publicized relationship with actress Minka Kelly, and yet it continues to be omitted from his Wikipedia entry. I've added this information before, but it was previously deleted on the grounds that the cited source was deemed "tabloid journalism." This time, I used an acceptable source (the New York Daily News), yet it was deleted again. An editor named 331dot gave the dubious explanation that it came from a gossip section and that such sections have fluctuating fact-checking practices. That of course is preposterous, being that the New York Daily News is a reputable publication of long standing, and as such it has uniform fact-checking standards for ALL of its sections (as any reputable publication would). Moreover, the New York Daily News has been satisfactorily cited as a source on myriad Wikipedia pages, but for some reason it's suddenly not acceptable when it comes to this high-profile, interracial relationship. Very inconsistent. Very suspect. The relationship should be included on Williams's page, as well as Kelly's page, period.

- How can gossip be fact checked? 331dot (talk) 11:44, 31 March 2020 (UTC)
- According to WP:RSP there is not an overall consensus as to the reliability of the Daily News, and calls it tabloid journalism. 331dot (talk) 11:47, 31 March 2020 (UTC)
Define "consensus," especially since Wikipedia itself provided the following description: "New York Times journalist Alan Feuer said the Daily News focuses heavily on 'deep sourcing and doorstep reporting.'" I guess you'd know that if you researched anything, including your own wiki. More crackerjack editing on your part, I see. In any event, here's a new source, one that's NOT in a gossip section: https://www.thedailybeast.com/jesse-williams-relationship-with-minka-kelly-isnt-about-you — Preceding unsigned comment added by 108.110.174.26 (talk) 09:50, 5 April 2020 (UTC)
- I'm sorry that I don't know every in and out of every possible source in all six million plus articles. I'm being civil with you, I would appreciate the same. The Daily Beast is better as a source according to WP:RSP. If you dispute the consensus regarding the Daily News, feel free to start a discussion. 331dot (talk) 10:48, 5 April 2020 (UTC)
