Note on Appropriate Adjectives

I reacted to one of today's news items, when the late Gloria Romero was described as FilipinO (emphasis mine) rather than FilipinA. This gaffe appears throughout Gloria Romero's Wikipedia entry. It is understandable to use the generic-masculine for general use. But when the specific subject under consideration is clearly feminine, the feminine form should be used. Upon digging deeper, I have found additional articles lacking in the appropriate consistency. Shall I take on the world? A google search for "Filipino Actresses" shows some content creators, here and there, follow english convention.
