Song

[edit]

This is a great song though it has a risky music vedio.

Info

[edit]

First-hand information that I have obtained from my father, Reggie Lucas, Dean Gant, Fred Zarr, and Jim Doughterty shows that the information in this article doesn't accurately describe Reggie Lucas' production, John 'Jellybean' Benitez' participation in it and Maddonna's satisfaction with the final product. --68.45.6.130 18:12, 11 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Lyrics

[edit]

Aside from "keep on pushin'", what other lyrics do "Borderline" and "Push" have in common? (This article implies there are several instances of this.) And is there any documentation proving that this was intentional?

None, so I deleted it Paul75 14:51, 6 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

under new title possibly?

[edit]

maybe this could be changed to "Borderline (Madonna song)" and then have "Borderline (song)" list the different songs made by different bands who used this title. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.227.235.216 (talk) 02:11, 16 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

GA Review

This review is transcluded from Talk:Borderline (song)/GA1. The edit link for this section can be used to add comments to the review.

OK, I will begin now and likely make some straightforward copyediting changes as I go. Please feel free to revert any that inadvertently change the meaning. Casliber (talk · contribs) 05:34, 24 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

  • It was regarded as the song which helped in Madonna's stardom. - in lede. Really? I wouldn't have thought so myself. The sentence just sort of sits there and comes across as a bit vague really.
  • Elsewhere, the song reached the top twenty of the European nations, peaking the chart in Ireland. - all European nations? Some? I think there is an adjective missing here...
  • The release of the video on MTV established her credentials further, as a pop star. - again, a bit vague and maybe peacocky - especially the "established her credentials" bit.

Again, nearly there. Casliber (talk · contribs) 06:21, 24 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Changed as best as I thought. --Legolas (talk2me) 06:37, 24 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
OK, better - no dealbreakers left. Casliber (talk · contribs) 08:11, 24 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Peak position in Australia?

[edit]

In the article it states that it peaked at number four in Australia. In the chart box it says it peaked at number twelve. Which one is true. It needs to be fixed. Thanks —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.32.114.223 (talk) 05:43, 20 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Corrected. It is 4 according to the Australia Chart Book. Thanks for pointing it out. --Legolas (talk2me) 06:12, 20 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Well you definetly don't have the book, positions of the singles from the album Madonna from the Kent Music Report: "Burning Up" #95, "Holiday" #4, "Burning Up" (re-issue) #13, "Borderline" #12 and "Lucky Star" #36. 190.42.48.134 (talk) 06:42, 20 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Release information is incorrect

[edit]

Borderline was the fourth release in the US. Lucky Star was the fifth and final release as confirmed by Madonna's own website madonna.com. Lucky Star release date is wrong as pointed out in the notes for that song

Borderline release http://madonna.com/discography/index/album/albumId/30/

Lucky Star release http://madonna.com/discography/index/album/albumId/29/.

Switching infobox image

[edit]

I switched the European/UK cover with the American one. Care to comment? --George Ho (talk) 00:11, 20 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Pitchfork's Best Songs of the 80s

[edit]

Borderline was considered the 106th best song of the 80s by Pitchfork. Can you add this to the article? http://pitchfork.com/features/staff-lists/9700-the-200-best-songs-of-the-1980s/5/

Billboard Music Awards 19984

[edit]

"At the 1984 Billboard Music Awards, "Borderline" received two nominations, in the categories of Best New Artist and Best Choreography in a Music Video, but did not win either"

She wasn't nominated for two awards but one (based on the source that is used). Borderline was nominated in Best New Artist and Lucky Star was nominated in Best Choreography in a Music Video. Johnny Gnecco (talk) 15:13, 14 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
