Broadway World

[edit]

Broadway World is a generally unreliable source. We should wait for another obituary. Grimes2 (talk) 11:45, 23 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Boosey & Hawkes has the same day of death. I have been looking for a better obit, but none so far. We should make a better list of works, not just the few that happened to be on recordings. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 12:04, 23 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
She was definitely born on 10 February 1938; I have her birth certificate. I also have her official death certificate, which gives 21 October 2024 as the date of her death. Technically, we will never know for sure on the exact date of death, because she was found dead in her apartment during a 'well-being check' by local police...but 21 October is "official."

Rome Prize

[edit]

Kolb ewas not the first woman to win the Rome Prize. She was the first woman in the category musical composition. Grimes2 (talk) 10:56, 29 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

sorry, was in a rush travelling, please clarify in article --Gerda Arendt (talk) 14:40, 29 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
My understanding is the was the first AMERICAN woman to receive the Rome Prize...worth checking, I suppose. Gprichards (talk) 02:19, 26 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
No, only American citizens could receive the Rome Prize. There were several (American) woman, who received the Rome prize before. Kolb was the first woman composer. Grimes2 (talk) 06:57, 26 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks! Gprichards (talk) 14:01, 26 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
