[edit]I reverted your edit to this article. Changing the nationality is probably best done AFTER a discussion on the talk page. I understand your reasoning, but it's still best to get some buy-in from other editors. Joyous! Noise! 01:10, 16 March 2024 (UTC)
- Eritrea was a part of Ethiopia when the subject was born (1986). The government was known as the "Derg" and controlled modern day Ethiopia and Eritrea from 1974 to 1987. Wikieditor969 (talk) 02:59, 16 March 2024 (UTC)
- With all do respect... we were colonized... we fought for our independence and we are and were alway Eritrea. Please stop editing pages that haven't requested your input. It gets used as propaganda to illegitimize the performers ethnic heritage. You cannot apply western standards to border disputes using pedantic measures. Respectfully. [edit]You have recently made edits related to articles about living or recently deceased people, and edits relating to the subject (living or recently deceased) of such biographical articles. This is a standard message to inform you that articles about living or recently deceased people, and edits relating to the subject (living or recently deceased) of such biographical articles is a designated contentious topic. This message does not imply that there are any issues with your editing. For more information about the contentious topics system, please see Wikipedia:Contentious topics. [edit]Hello, I'm Peaceray. I noticed that you recently removed content from Meb Keflezighi without adequately explaining why. In the future, it would be helpful to others if you described your changes to Wikipedia with an accurate edit summary. If this was a mistake, don't worry; the removed content has been restored. If you would like to experiment, please use your sandbox. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Why did you remove cited material, and without explanation? Please read the WP:VNT essay. Peaceray (talk) 22:41, 17 May 2024 (UTC)
Ella Thomas edit
[edit]I have reverted your addition of an unsourced date of birth to Ella Thomas. In addition to Wikipedia's basic principle of citing sources (Wikipedia:Citing sources), a special need for citations applies with regard to elements of a biography of a living person (WP:BLPPRIVACY). Feel free to add a date of birth when it is accompanied by a citation to a reliable, published, non-primary source. Eddie Blick (talk) 00:44, 18 May 2024 (UTC)
Ella Thomas edit cited to Fandom
[edit]I have reverted your addition of content to Ella Thomas that was cited to arrow.fandom.com. I appreciate your effort to cite a source, but Fandom sites are "considered generally unreliable" for use in Wikipedia articles. Please see WP:FANDOM for some comments about that status. Eddie Blick (talk) 00:45, 20 May 2024 (UTC)
Ella Thomas edit cited to Rotten Tomatoes
[edit]I have reverted your addition of content to Ella Thomas that was cited to Rotten Tomatoes. Please see WP:ROTTEN TOMATOES, which says, in part "There is consensus that Rotten Tomatoes should not be used for biographical information ..." Eddie Blick (talk) 01:45, 25 June 2024 (UTC)
- Since when does there need to be this much effort put in to verify a birthdate? Most people on wikipedia don't even have a birthdate or birthplace backed by a reference link. I can't understand why you are so insistent that this person must have one, and are so quick to pounce and revert my edits. If you had to verify every single person's birthdate on wikipedia there isn't a verified source for each and every person. You can do a million google searches online for this person and see that the birthdate is clearly labeled as Aug 15, 1981. Surely if this birthdate is shown countless times online, without any source challenging it, then it should be correct? Furthermore, the birthdate had been listed Aug 15, 1981 for years until I had pointed out that since that is the case, then the birthplace should be listed as Asmara, Ethiopia as Eritrea did not exist at the time. After I pointed this out, the birthdate was quietly removed. Wikieditor969 (talk) 11:16, 25 June 2024 (UTC)
- I apply Wikipedia's standards regarding dates of birth for living people when I see such dates either unsourced or accompanied by citations to sources that are not considered reliable for such use. You are not singled out, by any means. My watchlist frequently leads me to look at articles that have problems with proper sourcing for a living person's date of birth.
- You asked, "Since when does there need to be this much effort put in to verify a birthdate?" I suppose the best answer would be since Wikipedia:Verifiability was created (whenever that was). Verifiability should not be considered an option. As that page says, it is "a widely accepted standard that all editors should normally follow."
- As for the number of hits on a Google search, if one of those meets Wikipedia's reliablilty standards, you are welcome to use it. Unfortunaetly, many hits on Google are from websites that are not reliable.
- I should point out, also, that because this article is about a living person, WP:BLPPRIVACY applies, eliminating use of public records (such as a birth certificate) to document a date of birth or other content. Eddie Blick (talk) 01:54, 26 June 2024 (UTC)

Anything on Wikipedia is subject for removal if it's either not sourced or poorly sourced. Not a good idea to assume that just because other articles don't have sources means that it's okay for the article that you're editing to not have sources as well. Kcj5062 (talk) 12:45, 26 June 2024 (UTC)
- I was made aware by my sister that you continue to revert her changes...that you've gotten in a bit of an editing war. I would respectfully request you stay away from editing my page any further. I'm fully aware of what my legal documents say... you do not. Best Always Ella Erifanz (talk) 21:31, 7 July 2024 (UTC)
- Are you really expecting me to believe that an actress is relaying a message to me using you as a proxy?
- To the point, Asmara was a recognized part of Ethiopia in 1981, as Eritrea came into fruition in 1993. Wikieditor969 (talk) 22:41, 7 July 2024 (UTC)

Birthplaces in Eritrea province
[edit]Hello! I'm probably a bit late to be helpful, but I've just seen some of your edits changing birthplaces from Eritrea to Ethiopia for people who were born during the Ethiopian administration of Eritrea. I recommend either adding an explanatory note saying that Eritrea was part of Ethiopia at the time or, probably better, giving birthplace as something like "Asmara, Eritrea Province, Ethiopia" (for example, Zelenskyy's article gives his birthplace as "Kryvyi Rih, Ukrainian SSR, Soviet Union"). Misgana Wakuma moved to draftspace
[edit]An article you recently created, Misgana Wakuma, is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:
" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. Disambiguation link notification for November 3
[edit]Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Murder of Khaled Idris Bahray, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Keren. Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)
It's OK to remove this message. Also, to stop receiving these messages, follow these opt-out instructions. Thanks, --DPL bot (talk) 07:55, 3 November 2024 (UTC)

[edit]Please do not use styles that are nonstandard, unusual, inappropriate or difficult to understand in articles, as you did in My Lai massacre. There is a Manual of Style, and edits should not deliberately go against it without special reason. Thank you. Loafiewa (talk) 16:23, 27 November 2024 (UTC)
Please stop your disruptive editing.
- If you are engaged in an article content dispute with another editor, discuss the matter with the editor at their talk page, or the article's talk page, and seek consensus with them. Alternatively you can read Wikipedia's dispute resolution page, and ask for independent help at one of the relevant noticeboards.
- If you are engaged in any other form of dispute that is not covered on the dispute resolution page, seek assistance at Wikipedia's Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents.
If you continue to disrupt Wikipedia, as you did at Jesus, you may be blocked from editing. Remsense ‥ 论 03:31, 28 November 2024 (UTC)
- What's the issue that is causing you to be so hostile? It is well known that Jesus was born in Bethlehem which is in modern-day Palestine. This is not disruptive editing, it is clarification of detail. Wikieditor969 (talk) 03:33, 28 November 2024 (UTC)
- There is a big comment asking editors not to make further additions to the infobox, as its present state is the result of careful design and consensus. Then, I revert the changes you made regardless, stating plainly that they were undiscussed. It doesn't matter how basic or correct you are, it's not really acceptable for you to ignore both those things and immediately put your changes back against consensus. Together with the other issues with your editing far as commented on by Pathawi, it seems necessary to be very clear about what the issue is. Remsense ‥ 论 03:40, 28 November 2024 (UTC)

Introduction to contentious topics
[edit]You have recently edited a page related to the Horn of Africa (defined as including Ethiopia, Somalia, Eritrea, Djibouti, and adjoining areas if involved in related disputes), a topic designated as contentious. This is a brief introduction to contentious topics and does not imply that there are any issues with your editing.
A special set of rules applies to certain topic areas, which are referred to as contentious topics. These are specially designated topics that tend to attract more persistent disruptive editing than the rest of the project and have been designated as contentious topics by the Arbitration Committee. When editing a contentious topic, Wikipedia’s norms and policies are more strictly enforced, and Wikipedia administrators have an expanded level of powers and discretion in order to reduce disruption to the project.
Within contentious topics, editors should edit carefully and constructively, refrain from disrupting the encyclopedia, and:
- adhere to the purposes of Wikipedia;
- comply with all applicable policies and guidelines;
- follow editorial and behavioural best practices;
- comply with any page restrictions in force within the area of conflict; and
- refrain from gaming the system.
Editors are advised to err on the side of caution if unsure whether making a particular edit is consistent with these expectations. If you have any questions about contentious topics procedures, you may ask them at the arbitration clerks' noticeboard or you may learn more about this contentious topic here. You may also choose to note which contentious topics you know about by using the {{Ctopics/aware}} template.

I've gone through your edits for today and reverted a few of them. I want to explain what's going on here: It looks like the general effort in your edits for today are geared toward removing mention of an independent Eritrea from Wikipedia. In some cases, you have delinked the word Eritrea. As you have in no case given explanation for this removal, I have restored the links. In one case, you removed sourced data & its source. I restored this. In some cases, you added that Eritrea was a province of Ethiopia at the time of an individual's birth. When this is true, I have made no change. In some cases, however, this is false. I have undone these changes. With living persons, if the source does not specify that the individual was born in the Ethiopian Empire, I have undone the edit because of our WP:BLP policy. The Horn of Africa is a contentious topic: WP:CT/HORN. You would do well to change your editing practices: Continuing to edit in this manner in a contentious topic is likely to lead to restrictions on editing privileges. Pathawi (talk) 02:28, 28 November 2024 (UTC)
Second Vandalism Warning: Biographies of Living People, Contentious Topics
[edit]Please refrain from making unconstructive edits to Wikipedia, as you did at Attia Nasreddin. Your edits appear to constitute vandalism and have been reverted. If you would like to experiment, please use your sandbox. Repeated vandalism may result in the loss of editing privileges. This edit is among those addressed in a previous notice. Please note that the article in question is governed by both WP:BLP & WP:AC/CT, as Attia Nesruddin is a living person & the region in question is in the Horn of Africa. Pathawi (talk) 22:46, 2 December 2024 (UTC)
- The subject was born in 1950. In 1950 "Eritrea" did not exist. "Eritrea" as a state was founded in 1993. Until then, the territory was known as the "Province of Eritrea", and was contained within the Ethiopian Empire. Wikieditor969 (talk) 23:17, 2 December 2024 (UTC)
- This portion of the discussion should probably go to Talk:Attia Nasreddin. Pathawi (talk) 01:35, 3 December 2024 (UTC)
