Stars Align (app) article

Can you please advise what exactly needs to be changed in the article? I have changed the language to be neutral and added reliable, secondary sources. Please kindly advise what else can be done. Thank you. Thenewpochta (talk) 17:16, 22 December 2022 (UTC)

The draft is just blatant advertising and Linkedin.com and your own website are not independent sources. Theroadislong (talk) 17:45, 22 December 2022 (UTC)
The sources listed are: Time Magazine, The Wall Street Journal, Pew Research Center, Cosmopolitan and others.
Will removing links to linkedin.com and the app's website help?
What else can be done, for this page not to be perceived as advertisement?
It is merely a page about the app, which is out there, like any of the listed here: http://en.wiki.x.io/wiki/Comparison_of_online_dating_services Thenewpochta (talk) 18:03, 22 December 2022 (UTC)
You have misunderstood how Wikipedia works. "merely a page about the app" is exactly the problem! There are zero pages on Wikipedia only articles on notable topics. Wikipedia summarises what independent reliable sources with significant coverage have chosen on their own to say about a topic, showing how it meets Wikipedia's special definition of a notable topic. You have 5 sections without a single source. Theroadislong (talk) 18:05, 22 December 2022 (UTC)
I meant no disrespect by using the word "page" which I used to describe a publication.
With that said, I am yet to grasp the chasm, which you seem to allude exists, between my article, one you've labeled as "blatant advertising" and a myriad of others, that are present on Wikipedia in abundance i.e.: http://en.wiki.x.io/wiki/Co%E2%80%93Star or this one http://en.wiki.x.io/wiki/Badoo or this one http://en.wiki.x.io/wiki/Hily.
Please advise on how I may improve the article and by all means do not be offended by my questions, as they are product of pure curiosity. Thenewpochta (talk) 18:20, 22 December 2022 (UTC)
Please see other poor quality articles exist although at least they are sourced. Theroadislong (talk) 18:22, 22 December 2022 (UTC)
Do you mean that all of the links I have listed are examples of content that should not exist? Please be more explicit on the matter.
None of the articles I mentioned have any indication of problems or issues. They have been vetted and reviewed. I used them as inspiration and an example for something to strive for.
Are you saying that my article is as good as numerous other articles available on Wikipedia which have no indication of problems or issues, yet you believe all those articles to be unworthy of Wikipedia and thus decide to decline my submission on that belief?
Kindly, please explain. Thenewpochta (talk) 18:31, 22 December 2022 (UTC)
I mean that the fact that other articles exist is NOT a reason for yours to exist, all drafts are considered on their own merits, your draft is largely unsourced advertising, you are being paid to create the article but have not based the draft on reliable independent sources. Theroadislong (talk) 18:35, 22 December 2022 (UTC)
Thank you for a reply, yet you have not answered any of the questions I have asked.
Do you explicitly declare that all of the links I have listed as examples of content should not exist and be removed from Wikipedia?
Are you saying that my article is as good as numerous other articles available on Wikipedia?
Are you basing your decision to decline publication based on your own personal biased beliefs?
Wikipedia itself uses the word "page" to describe publications, yet in your opening statement you reprimanded me for using it. Why did you choose to do that?
Can you please explain what you mean by "unsourced advertising". There are sources to reputable publishers - Time Magazine, The Wall Street Journal, Pew Research Center, Cosmopolitan.
I have willingly abided by Wikipedia's Terms of Use and in advance disclosed the fact that I'm being paid to create the article. Why is it now being used against me as a reason to decline submission?
If the article is published by someone who isn't paid to do it, would it have more merit?
and most importantly:
What exactly needs to be changed in the article?
What else can be done, for this page not to be perceived as advertisement? Thenewpochta (talk) 18:50, 22 December 2022 (UTC)
P.S. I kindly would like to draw your attention to the fact, that Wikipedia itself explicitly uses the word "page" when referring to publications and in particular unpublished articles ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ just saying.. Thenewpochta (talk) 18:25, 22 December 2022 (UTC)
@Thenewpochta yes, non-articles are referred to as pages but that is the distinction and sometimes editors use the term "page" even when referring to an article. I catch myself sometimes doing that. However, articles should meet Wikipedia's standards but you will certainly find ones that don't for various reasons (standards changed, etc.). I took a look at the draft and I largely agree with Theroadislong's assessment. Both the WSJ and Cosmo articles are brief mentions with Popmatters being an in-depth review but that is not enough to meet notability and the draft is blatantly promotional so will most likely be deleted by an administrator. S0091 (talk) 18:50, 22 December 2022 (UTC)
An admin has now deleted the draft as blatant advertising, 90% of the draft was unsourced and promotional, I suggest you spend a few months editing in other areas, to get a feel for how things work here, nobody is going to spend too much time educating you, as we are all volunteers here, whilst you are being paid. Theroadislong (talk) 19:29, 22 December 2022 (UTC)

Hi, The road is long

Hi, The road is long. I Dont know with fake name profile like yours. what gives you an impression that the article is paid to be written. Have you actually read it. I am not paid for the Article about Sujatha Vijaykumar, I am here creating database for Kollywood movies. If not me someone else will definitely do. Jennie Rosaline Arockiaraj (talk) 08:29, 23 December 2022 (UTC)

Jennie Rosaline Arockiara On your talk page you state " I am a new contributor and a employ of HMM." This means that you are deemed to be a paid editor and MUST make the required disclosure on your user page. Theroadislong (talk) 08:40, 23 December 2022 (UTC)

A note about Draft:Washington University of Science and Technology‎

Thanks for declining this draft. It was draftified from AfD (I had voted to delete) and I made a good faith effort to find better sources— and left it expecting a G13 deletion eventually. I'll leave it on my watchlist. — Grand'mere Eugene (talk) 20:42, 23 December 2022 (UTC)

The page is created as according to Wikipedia guidelines, as this has been recently passed by UNESCO on 2nd December 2022. There is no such self-promoting material in it. If there is any real discrepancy than rectify. http://en.wiki.x.io/wiki/Draft:World_Futures_Day

YouSodhi (talk) 12:09, 6 December 2022 (UTC)

Guidelines say that articles should be based on reliable independent sources, your draft has 4 sources and three of them are primary, namely unesco.org we have little interest in what that has to say. Theroadislong (talk) 12:14, 6 December 2022 (UTC)
Thanks for Prompt response, Love the way turning me on the track. I will be there sooon.

More Source for Ray Byars

Would you please look at the Ray Byars draft and tell me if I have enough source information? You mentioned that I needed to add more source. With your advice, I have added a source for almost every statement in the article, just not sure if it is suffecient enough. CharlemagneJane (talk) 02:23, 25 December 2022 (UTC)

Your comment on Emotionalism

Dear Therooasislong, thanks for your prompt comment. Can I take from your comment that the Immersion para is OK and now the remaining issue we have to deal with is the Emotionalism para? ArtisticGuru (talk) 14:05, 28 December 2022 (UTC)

No the previous reviewer's comments still apply, I was just adding that the emotionalism section had no sources. Theroadislong (talk) 14:07, 28 December 2022 (UTC)

Canada Water Agency

Your comments don't make enough sense for me to be able to edit this article (Canada Water Agency). Can you be more specific? Km4water (talk) 19:28, 28 December 2022 (UTC)

it was blatant advertising and also a copyright violation. Theroadislong (talk) 20:45, 28 December 2022 (UTC)
Thanks -- but I don't see how this -- a description of a significant government activity that hasn't been covered by Wikipedia -- could be construed as 'advertising'. I have no commercial interest in promoting a government activity, although I do have a strong personal interest in the topic . I have reviewed the content and rephrased where I re-used wording from official sources (all appropriately referenced). I really value your comments because I am trying to familiarize myself with the process. Km4water (talk) 20:53, 28 December 2022 (UTC)
Wikipedia is not a place to merely tell about something, that is just advertising. Wikipedia summarises what independent reliable sources with significant coverage have chosen on their own to say about a topic, showing how it meets the special Wikipedia definition of notability.

I still do not understand how this topic doesn't meet the requirements for notability. Independent reliable sources have been used in building the article. The fact is that formation of this federal government agency is a relatively recent development -- but then so is a major winter storm in North America that has found its way onto Wikipedia's home page. I am happy to edit and re-write as necessary because it is a learning process for me, but I am struggling with the idea that this is not an important topic. Without this basic understanding, I can't see working anymore on Wikipedia editing. Km4water (talk) 21:13, 28 December 2022 (UTC)

The criteria can be found at WP:NORG, but your draft was declined for reading like an advert and being a copyright violation. Theroadislong (talk) 21:36, 28 December 2022 (UTC)
I edited the article to try to remove any suggestion of copyright violation, and sources were all referenced. 'Sounding like an advert' still confounds me. I would go back and have another read, but the article seems to have disappeared. Has it been removed? If so, then I guess this is an end to the effort. Km4water (talk) 21:58, 28 December 2022 (UTC)
As per the notice on your talk page the draft was speedy deleted because for legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material. Theroadislong (talk) 22:00, 28 December 2022 (UTC)
But I disputed that. So there is no way to get it back? Km4water (talk) 22:02, 28 December 2022 (UTC)
It is irrelevant that you disputed it, I can't see where you did this either but the draft was an unambiguous copyright infringement of https://www.canada.ca/en/environment-climate-change/services/water-overview/protecting-freshwater/canada-water-agency-stakeholder-public-engagement-what-we-heard.html, https://www.csmonitor.com/Environment/2021/0812/Canada-gets-serious-about-water-woes.-Will-Indigenous-voices-be-heard, and other sources. Copyrighted content will not usually be re-funded.Theroadislong (talk) 22:11, 28 December 2022 (UTC)
This is bizarre. I was happily receiving comments and working on correcting what had been perceived as errors or non-compliance and you just stopped the process? What is the point of having a dispute button if nobody pays attention? Surely there is no harm in continuing to correct and edit content when it has not yet been publicly shared? Or perhaps, this is a flaw in the Wikipedia 'system', where volunteer editors get to arbitrarily decide that they have invested enough time on an article? Km4water (talk) 22:17, 28 December 2022 (UTC)
The second you hit Enter the copyright violation was published. We cannot, for legal reasons, let it just sit there while you try to fix things. Copyright law is pretty merciless, and we tread carefully around it. --Orange Mike | Talk 03:47, 29 December 2022 (UTC)
I did NOT stop the process I was just explaining to you what had happened, User:DoubleGrazing noticed the copyright violation, tagged it as such and an admin User:JBW correctly deleted it. As pointed out above once content is published here it is “publicly shared”. Theroadislong (talk) 09:06, 29 December 2022 (UTC)

The Alexander Silberman Institute of Life Sciences

Dear editor,

Following your comments, I have revised this page. I omitted almost all the references to the institute's website, and added various references to external sources.

Can you please examine this page again and advise me if it's good enough or how to proceed.

Thank you Biochen123 (talk) 12:19, 29 December 2022 (UTC)

Review of Draft:Carlo_Alessandro_Landini

Hello Theroadislong, in the run-up for Christmas I am here sending you the latest amended version of the entry Draft:Carlo_Alessandro_Landini. I hope this time I'm meeting the requirements of a correct text formatting and citation policy. The biography section now has 5 quotes! Your approval, after two fails, would be a wonderful gift. Review of draft:CCC_Group

Hello Theroadislong, I'm trying to add article about CCC Group - a company operating in Europe with CCC Group approx. 90 e-commerce platforms and 950 stores in 28 countries under the CCC, eobuwie.pl, Modivo and DeeZee, Halfprice brands. However, the article gets rejected because of not sufficient references and that it reads more like an advertisement. I've rewritten it a few times and I get the same message all the time and have no idea what can I imporve more. Can you help me and give a few tips what to change? How much coverage is considered Significant on Wikipedia

On this draft, Draft:Orchestrate96, it says the artist does not have significant coverage. How much press is considered significant? Thank you. TheFirstLyricGeek (talk) 12:18, 1 January 2023 (UTC)

In your opinion, how would you improve this artist's draft? (Draft:Orchestrate96). I am so desperate to improve my editing skills. I've been doing tons of reading too. 🤓 TheFirstLyricGeek (talk) 12:27, 1 January 2023 (UTC)
If you could answer the previous reviewers comment it would be helpful, "Please read our policy on musician notability. Find in that policy the criteria you believe makes the subject of this draft notable. List that criteria on the Talk page, and indicate what assertion is being made in the draft that satisfies the criteria." Please also note that Music Apple is not an independent source. Theroadislong (talk) 14:01, 1 January 2023 (UTC)
Thank you for getting back to me. I will remove those Apple Music references. Under Wikipedia:Notability (music), the artist has been the subject of multiple, non-trivial, published works appearing in sources that are reliable, not self-published, and are independent of the musician or ensemble itself. You're awesome. Happy new year. TheFirstLyricGeek (talk) 19:00, 1 January 2023 (UTC)

John Henry Hammond

I don't know why all these editors are descending upon my articles and immediately deleting them. It is my understanding that we can submit them for review and if they fail, we can try again. I didn't even resubmit this for review and I am still in the midst of addressing the issues with another editor, Maverick32. They say they are happy to review it in the coming week now that I have added all the references, but I still have to add the in-line citations as you correctly commented. But why do editors IMMEDIATELY delete these articles while they are in progress when I haven't even submitted them for review? One editor just accused me of a "clear conflict of interest." The immediate deletion of these articles and the blind accusations against me are "untoward behavior" that makes me not want to do any work to help Wikipedia. It's a real turn off, in all honesty. Singer2cantor (talk) 21:56, 1 January 2023 (UTC)

I know nothing about any deletions, you submitted your draft Draft:John Henry Hammond, I reviewed it and declined it because it has zero inline citations. Theroadislong (talk) 22:00, 1 January 2023 (UTC)

King Gug

Hi Theroadislong. Since you were the last AFC reviewer to decline King Gug as a draft, perhaps you wouldn't mind taking another look at this since it's been moved to the mainspace by its creator. I'm not sure how AFC deals with users who try to move declined drafts to the mainspace themselves. I thought of draftifying it again, but that seems to be something that's not really encouraged per WP:DRAFTIFY per WP:DRAFTOBJECT most likely because it typically leads to move wars. I'm assuming there's no PAID or COI involved here because if there is than probably changes everything. I'm going to ping Liz as well as a courtesy since she was the administrator who draftified the article the first time. -- Marchjuly (talk) 00:14, 5 January 2023 (UTC)

I've sent it to AFD for them to decide, I can't find much about them at all and they clearly fail WP:NSINGER. Cheers Theroadislong (talk) 08:40, 5 January 2023 (UTC)

Request on 15:04:34, 4 January 2023 for assistance on AfC submission by 81.79.141.249

Hello, you recently declined the submission of Draft: Yiannis Maos (http://en.wiki.x.io/wiki/Draft:Yiannis_Maos). However, the Wikipedia guidelines state that a page of this type qualifies if the person has received a well-known and significant award or honor. As stated Mr Maos received an MBE by King Charles the 3rd on his New Year Honour List. This is one of the highest awards a person can receive in the United Kingdom and therefore should be considered a 'significant award or honor.' Furthermore, the award is listed on an existing Wiki page: http://en.wiki.x.io/wiki/2023_New_Year_Honours

81.79.141.249 (talk) 15:04, 4 January 2023 (UTC)

That's correct he would be notable, BUT the draft Draft:Yiannis Maos is a totally unsourced single sentence. We require all WP:BLP articles to be sourced. Theroadislong (talk) 15:56, 4 January 2023 (UTC)
Thanks, that's great. I will update. Thank you. 81.79.141.249 (talk) 14:45, 5 January 2023 (UTC)

Draft:Micro Arts Group

Hi, I saw this draft has been rejected, please advise. I have removed all refs to the Micro Arts Group website, although this has much information on it. Many thanks Geoffd99 (talk) 14:39, 9 January 2023 (UTC)

It wasn't rejected, it was declined, 4 of the sources were to their own website, Wikipedia requires there to be significant coverage in independent sources. Theroadislong (talk) 14:44, 9 January 2023 (UTC)

Apparent Project apparently not notable

Much to my disgust, I find that the refs to books, journals and the NYT are entirely bogus, with the sources either preceding the creation of the organization or else not mentioning it in any way. This cynical approach to "sourcing" is probably nothing new, right? One does wonder whotf accepted it, though. AfD now?-- Quisqualis (talk) 23:09, 9 January 2023 (UTC)

Yep, looks like WP:AFD is the next step. Theroadislong (talk) 08:57, 10 January 2023 (UTC)

Draft:Cian Oba-Smith

I was wondering why you declined the draft I’d written? The comment said the awards were not notable but a number of them are, the Taylor Wessing for example is at the National Portrait Gallery and is the biggest portrait photography prize in the UK, running since 2005. All of the articles used as sources are from secondary and independent, reliable sources. Could you give me some guidance as to what needs to be adjusted for the article to be accepted? I’m quite new to this. 82.9.113.215 (talk) 00:18, 11 January 2023 (UTC)

If the awards are notable then please link them to the relevant articles as I have now done with Taylor Wessing Photographic Portrait Prize. Please also remember to log in before editing and address the undisclosed paid editing tag. Theroadislong (talk) 08:37, 11 January 2023 (UTC)

Draft:Bubbleblabber

I'm almost certain that the draft you declined is using the same text of a previous draft I updated a while ago and it was declined for the same reasons you listed there. I personally doubt that it will be notable enough to have a page. And I think it is telling that an IP address created the page. Historyday01 (talk) 18:14, 12 January 2023 (UTC)

Hello

Hello,

i saw you did review my last post and declined it.

I am new in wikipedia and therefore i don't have very much information about the "how much information" is needed for a profile/post to get accepted.

Therefore i am writing you directly to give me some suggestions on what should i include into my post in order to get accepted, as the person who i wanted to add into wikipedia, is a know music singer in our country (kosovo) and also in places where albanian language is known (europe countries mostly). I have a lot of information about the singer and a lot of interviews, music videos, photos (which some i did by myself) - information that is probably needed to provide in order to get accepted, but i don't know how or where.

I kindly ask you to guide me what should i change or add as information regarding the Artist "Robb Daddy".

Thank you very much in advance,

GashiH Gashih (talk) 19:08, 12 January 2023 (UTC)

In order to demonstrate notability, you will need to provide multiple references to in-depth articles written about them in unrelated, independent journals, magazines, books or online. Interviews, music videos and photos do not contribute anything towards notability, you need to show how they pass the criteria at WP:NMUSICIAN. Theroadislong (talk) 19:12, 12 January 2023 (UTC)
Thank you very much for your answer.
All the best Gashih (talk) 19:28, 12 January 2023 (UTC)
I did make some changes as described at WP:NMUSICIAN where i should pass at least one of the criterias to be notable. I did add some articles where some of them write about the Singers biography and some of them about songs he did release. I hope this time i got it right. Thank you in advance Gashih (talk) 22:14, 12 January 2023 (UTC)

"Pass, notable person"

Hi, thanks for your work over at AfC (even if I'm probably much less experienced than you!). I just wondered what your edits to Wikipedia:WikiProject Articles for creation/January 2023 Backlog Drive/Participants/Mattdaviesfsic meant - I assume it basically just means you're 'seconding' my decision to accept it? I'd be grateful if you could enlighten me, and what the significance of this is! Mattdaviesfsic (talk) 19:16, 14 January 2023 (UTC)

Here's the details [1] I think we have to review a certain number of other reviewers edits, but not sure how many. Well done with the fantastic amount you have done. I won last year but don't think I did anywhere near that quantity! Theroadislong (talk) 19:22, 14 January 2023 (UTC)

Review of User:Ldm1954/sandbox

Can you please provide specific details that you are requesting "minimum inline citation requirements and npov". Is this: 1. The Family details. 2. The records of the organizations and other information such as when she was Secretary etc? The details are not available in any online source, but are held at the History of Advertising Trust (which is a Museum). 3. When you refer to "not formal" what do you mean. I have tried to remove anything which was not neutral. As a professional scientist Laurence D. Marks I am used to writing neutrally. (Some things might have escaped me.)

Thanks for your input -- hopefully I will be able to update it, in between teaching and supervising my PhD students! Ldm1954 (talk) 20:17, 15 January 2023 (UTC)

Sources do not need to be on line but they do need to be published. The career section has a single sourced sentence relating to a ”dance date”. All content requires reliable, independent sourcing.

Non encyclopaedic informal tone includes content like “a few months shy of her 17th birthday” “Unfortunately, towards the end of her first year” “received a great honor” “made a name for herself “ “the premier organization for those in advertising” “Maisie remembers….” “had to leave LSE as money was tight “ Theroadislong (talk) 20:39, 15 January 2023 (UTC)

Laurence D. Marks page

While Quisqualis may be well meaning, he/she is making a real mess of this page. Specifically:

  • Sloan Fellowship 1987 is an award, and should not be in career. While I realize that one might think a "Fellowship" is a career appointment, it is not. This is a case of not sufficient information.
  • There is never a source for promotion to full professor, requesting a source is inappropriate.

Can you add a link to https://sloan.org/fellows-database for the Fellowship, or do you want me to ask someone to do this?
I do not know who put the APS Fellow in as part of Career, it should be award. Again, can I ask you do do this.

    Hello,

    Thanks for reviewing the submission.

Beside YouTube and Facebook, I added sources that reference and speak about Maggie. I added YouTube and Facebook as part of explaining about the person and show the number of followers but they are do not form the base of the article. If this is still a concern, I would be happy to remove them.

    Thank you, Jacob

    trinny116/bloodrunners

Hi, got your message. Understood. I guess it does sound like a grandiose claim if you weren't a Biker in the 1980s. There's a lot of in-depth articles, but they're by journalists/mechanics who were trying to copy the design and style but didn't always have the resources. Here is a page of them https://www.andysparrow.com/1/various/press-clippings/index.htm But maybe making such a claim should be only referred to these customizers and not the industry itself. I'll cut that out. Also I should maybe change tack a bit and make it more general? For instance, Andy coined the word Bloodrunners and it has been adopted by the very Bikers who do it in real life. If you Google Bloodrunners, the charities come quite high on the listings. Funnily enough, Andy is creating a new edition for its 40th anniversary. He asked fans on his Facebook page today for their memories. Have a look it's quite funny, and revealing. https://facebook.com/bloodrunners

What do you think? Shall I give it another go? Trinny116 (talk) 22:57, 20 January 2023 (UTC)

I can't understand reason of rejection left in your comment. Cercle project is about Facebook livestreams and YouTube videos, so how Facebook and YouTube links can be a "not suitable sources" here? Tomasz w (talk) 14:59, 31 January 2023 (UTC)

They are primary sources, we have little interest in what they say, we need secondary sources that discuss the topic in-depth. Theroadislong (talk) 15:02, 31 January 2023 (UTC)
There are already added secondary sources from an EDM media, describing project history and its activity. Facebook and YouTube sources are added only for parts where secondary sources aren't available. For example, Facebook post is sometimes the only one place with an information about event cancellation and there is no other way to quote it, so I still don't understand article rejection for this reason at all. Tomasz w (talk) 15:41, 31 January 2023 (UTC)
Most of the content is a list of shows live streamed by Cercle, which is just promotional, that is not what the article needs. Theroadislong (talk) 15:49, 31 January 2023 (UTC)
There are many Wikipedia articles that include lists of episodes e.g. for TV shows and thre are no voices saying that is "just promotional". Where was the discussion about whether the Cercle episodes list is a needed information or not? Is this just your one-person, arbitrary decision? Tomasz w (talk) 16:08, 31 January 2023 (UTC)

Appeal against deletion of a few small edits

Hi, I just appealed via your entires about the historical, statements of fact, minor, about Micro Arts Group. I'm sure you are really busy but can you check them over? Rules say: "While objective prose about beliefs, organisations, people, products or services is acceptable". These are objective small edits and objective true statements (not 'beliefs') like 'Micro Arts was invited onto Micronet 800 (in Prestel) in 1985' etc. How is that against rules? What is your justification given the rules have exceptions for exactly this type of thing? Just to update, this was a genuine mistake as I did not know this rule about founder member etc., and I was adding small * historical statements about an independant arts organisation * (Micro Arts Group, not me). If I put on my page as you say - "make the required disclosure on your user page" - can the edits be put back on (small edits only)? If it makes any difference, I am now on the committee of the Computer Arts Organisation, a charity, which has been around for over 50 years. That is same 'status' as V&A Museum, Tate, etc. Thanks Geoff Geoffd99 Geoffd99 (talk) 14:01, 2 February 2023 (UTC)

I'm not sure what "statements of fact, minor, about Micro Arts Group" you are referring to unless you mean the spam links like this one [2]? As you have a conflict of interest you should not be adding anything about your organisation, you can however submit suggestions on the article's talk page with the {{request edit}} template.Theroadislong (talk) 14:23, 2 February 2023 (UTC)

    Help regarding sources.

    Hello.

An article I wrote was recently declined with the following message:

Interviews, IMDb, YouTube and blogs are not reliable sources and we don't use external links in the body of an article.

    Questions-

When I researched how to write an article on Wiki everything I read had links throughout the body. How else would I properly source information? Is it simply that it should not have the link, but a citation?

I am also curious what sources are deemed appropriate for an actor if IMDb is not allowed?

I appreciate any help you can offer. Many hours have been spent on this and I'd prefer to get it right.

Thank you. Suspenders Unbuttoned (talk) 15:58, 2 February 2023 (UTC)

Articles never have external links in then so I'm not sure where you saw that? See reliable sources for help with what is required All of the fan cruft will need to be removed and the article will need re-writing in a neutral encyclopaedic tone rather than the present chatty style, you will also need to declare your conflict of interest as a "Fan Group". Draft:Maisie Myra Marks

References 1,5,6,8,9,10,15,16,17,24,29 are Trade Newspapers and Articles from independent sources where she is mentioned 11 & 18 are books (they are slightly different editions with different material) There is also extensive material in the archives, which includes material on what she did and the significance of her charitable work -- not just the MBE.

Back in the relevant period, 1957-1988 there was no internet, no blogs, the number of newspapers etc was significantly smaller. Hence the number of articles etc is significant. Ldm1954 (talk) 00:51, 7 February 2023 (UTC)

You have misunderstood how Wikipedia works, you have written all that you know about your mother and then tried to verify it with sources. We work the other way around, we collect all the sources that contain significant coverage of the topic and then report on what they say. I will not be reviewing the draft again and will leave it for another reviewer. Theroadislong (talk) 09:58, 7 February 2023 (UTC)
Nope. I know far more that is either not relevant, not notable or does not have citations. Rigor is that you consider propositions for an argument and then look to see if there is a reasonable and unbiased validation. That is what has been done in the article. If you look at the original it definitely contains material that was not notable or could not be validated.
For instance General Relativity is accepted, so one provides some reasonable cite (or often no cite). String theory is not fully accepted, so rigor says that you mention both for and against. Ldm1954 (talk) 16:14, 7 February 2023 (UTC)
OK...if you want to change the way Wikipedia operates I suggest you visit the WP:Village pump. Theroadislong (talk) 16:24, 7 February 2023 (UTC)

I don't mean to be nasty, but at the same time I have to ask whether you have considered that you have confirmation bias, specifically belief perseverance. You have not once confirmed that your original objections about cites are invalid and removed them.

I accepted that the first draft had major issues, but ... Ldm1954 (talk) 16:35, 7 February 2023 (UTC)

    Draft:Markerstudy Group

Thank you for your review of my first draft.

After taking the article from the PR team I edited it to fit within Wikipedia's guidelines. Could you outline which of the below 4 criteria are most concerning to you?

In my opinion it has been written in an independent style but please do let me know if you disagree. However, I do agree with the in-depth criteria and fear I removed too many things that I deemed not noteworthy from the original I was provided with.

A question on secondary - I removed all links from what I was given that linked to the company website, but do the articles being linked to have to be secondary as well. Many of them are written by newspapers but may contain quotes from company employees (at external URL destination). Steve From Marketing (talk) 10:53, 8 February 2023 (UTC)

Wikipedia is only interested in what people who have no connection with the subject, and who have not been prompted or fed information on behalf of the subject, have chosen to publish about the subject in reliable sources, you need to show that your company passes the criteria at WP:NCORP. Currently the draft merely advertises their services and has routine reports of acquisitions. Theroadislong (talk) 10:59, 8 February 2023 (UTC)

    Respect and Request

    Dear Theroadislong,

Firstly I have to express my deepest respect to your patience I can see in many of your replies.

Then I would like to ask you if there is some mechanism to draw attention of the community to pages subjected to possible vandalism. If you check the end of this talk page, you will realize how I came across your name - we have a common friend, who is actually... testing the limits of my time and fantasy.

Thank you in advance for any help. Klingm01 (talk) 13:24, 8 February 2023 (UTC)

I had noticed that their edits were becoming problematic there, since I have zero understanding of the topic I would not venture to edit much in that area knowing their animosity towards me. Any edits made without a source can of course be reverted and the user warned with the template {{uw-unsourced1}} be wary of calling it vandalism though as that has a very specific meaning here.
