Nope, if you're not an administrator then you can't block. However if they've been warned several times for vandalism (and you can warn with VP) then you can request a ban. Not sure where I'd go for that but a good place to look would be WP:AN --frothT C 21:20, 6 January 2007 (UTC)

Thanks

Thanks. Strangely i like all the same stuuf you do. But in other words, check out my page on youtube type in Mcfatty's prt. Uno and click on my user. Adoption

Sure i would love to be adopted. I have been mainly working on the Paterson NJ page and show interest in El Salvador, Central America and some others. --Javierbaires1 01:08, 7 January 2007 (UTC)Javierbaires1

Kirk Johnson

Why exactly did you revert the page on Kirk Johnson back to before I changed it? Do you really think having him linked to "http://en.wiki.x.io/wiki/Goatse.cx" appropriate?

My bad, I'm tired and I misread it, I thought it said that he was "also known as", not "for the kirk johnson known as"... I just changed it a second time before realizing my mistake, please change it back again ><

immigration

Taking liberties with speedy deletion?

You tagged a good-faith article about an obviously notable individual for speedy deletion. Its author is a newbie, whom you didn't even welcome. You're in violation of WP:BITE. crz crztalk 14:15, 7 January 2007 (UTC)

Reply: I don't believe I bited the newcomer, I marked the article for speedy deletion becuase it was empty and suited Wikipedias:criteria for speedy deletion. You also said that I didnt't welcome the newcomer; I did not say I had welcomed him/her, I marked the article for deletion in accordance with wikipedias deletion policy.

I would recommend that you withdraw this. Trying not to be mean, but you do not have nearly the number of Wikipedia edits that commentors will look for. If you had made the edits that you have in the article space instead of simply filling up your contributions, you might have a chance. But right now, I suggest you read WP:SNOW for an idea of why I am saying this. Also, you may want to take a look at some standards for a better idea of when you will be ready to run for RfA again. --tennisman sign here! 19:21, 7 January 2007 (UTC)

I really would recommend that you withdraw your RfA now. The message about experience and the places in which it can be gathered is pretty strong. You've done well to place yourself in front of the community in this manner so soon after starting your account. Most people try an editor review before an RfA. There's no harm in you getting one in a couple of months then using that as basis to work towards qualifying for admin status a couple of months after that. Don't take this as a knock-back - you are a good editor and Wikipedia needs people such as you to keep growing! Regards, (aeropagitica) 21:18, 7 January 2007 (UTC)
I have closed your RfA early, as it seems like there is no chance of it succeeding at the current time. Please read the comments made on the RfA, and I hope you will consider re-running in the coming months. =) Nishkid64 21:23, 7 January 2007 (UTC)

Adoption

Thank you for choosing to adopt me. I am fairly new to Wikipedia and need someone to help me contribute to Wikipedia. I mostly work on improving Southern New Hampshire school articles and New Hampshire school in general. --EvaGears 19:44, 7 January 2007 (UTC)

New to Wikipedia

Hi Tellyaddict, I am new to wikipedia and am trying to get the hang of starting to edit and sign my name do you have any suggestions or ideas to help me? I have looked at all the wikipedia help pages but I am still in need of help. Also is their a way I can talk to you or someone else about a specific topic or article on wikipedia? Please send me a message, I hope you get this, and I hope that this is the proper page to talk to you like this. Any help or advice you can give is appreciated thank you. --Avatar123 03:23, 8 January 2007 (UTC)

I need and adopter. I'm new here --Elemar

Hi Tellyaddict, thank you again for the advice and help. Since there is so much information and rules to learn about wikipedia, I was wondering if you could offer me any advice to make the learning and editing process proceed faster and smoother, so I can really start contributing to wikipedia and helping out? Should I start using the sandbox more, and also how does this whole adoption process I have heard about work,do you think you could adopt me maybe when you get more time? I know you said you were taking a break for a while, so please respond back when you get time. Thank you. --Avatar123 23:46, 8 January 2007 (UTC)

Hi Tellyaddict thankyou for the advice, I will write to you when I am ready to learn more.--Avatar123 20:34, 9 January 2007 (UTC)

I just wanted to say, I hope we become good friends. Did you realize that the new definition for a planet makes earth a dwarf planet? Only the gas giants qualify as real planets now.

WP:ADOPT

Hi there,

As a user looking to Adopt with the Adopt-a-User program, there has been some ongoing developments that we would like to bring to your attention, as well as request help with the backlog at Category:Wikipedians seeking to be adopted in Adopt-a-user.

You should know that the way the adoption process works has changed slightly. To decrease workload at Category:Wikipedians seeking to be adopted in Adopt-a-user on offering adoption please change the {{Adoptme}} template to {{Adoptoffer}} on the user's user page, and this will add the user to Category:Wikipedians having been offered adoption. Users that have already been offered adoption can always have a second or third offer, but by separating out those users that have not had an adoption offer yet, it is hoped that no one will go lacking. Once adoption is complete please use the templates found here on the Adoptee's and your user page.

Also numerous Adopters have been adding their details to a list of users available for adopting, to offer a more personalised service and allow new users to browse through and pick their own Adopter. The quickest way to adopt though, is still to contact users at the Category:Wikipedians seeking to be adopted in Adopt-a-user.

Furthermore a new Adopter's Area has been created where you can find useful resources and other Adopter's experiences. Please feel free to add any resources you have and if you know of any useful resources for new users / Adoptees then you can add them here.

So I hope you get adopting soon - and if you have any general questions or suggestions about the further development of Wikipedia:Adopt-a-User please bring them to our talk page. Cheers Lethaniol 15:23, 13 January 2007 (UTC)

Your addoptee

Hey, I was just wondering what you think the best tools are for wikipedia editing and vandalism erasers. Theres so many its hard to choose from. Have a good day! Rambos shadow 15:48, 13 January 2007 (UTC)

Just curious...

How do you get those things on your user page like "This user likes to eat pizza" and "This user lives in Great Britain" and stuff like that? Pardyj 17:17, 13 January 2007 (UTC)

Vandal Proof

Im confused about how to apply, when I try to add my name to the list the page doesn't change... i used the * YOUR_USERNAME (talk · contribs · count) thing and put my name in...I don't know whats going on. thanks for the help! Rambos shadow 18:17, 13 January 2007 (UTC)

EDIT: nevermind, I figured it out :) Rambos shadow 18:20, 13 January 2007 (UTC)

Brevity Code

You can just delete the article, I'll put it in later properly and complete. Its gonna take awhile. It is a possibility that we could seperate the article into different sections like A-E, F-K, and so on becuase there is a WHOLE LOT of codes. User:Tribulation_cobra 13:07, 13 Janurary 2007 (CST)

I see you "adopted" this user and told him to try out vandalproof. He doesn't even come close to meeting the minimum requirements for approval so I had to decline him. --frothT 20:00, 13 January 2007 (UTC)

Great, VP is really intended for users experienced with vandalism fighting and not really for newbies to learn vandalism fighting --frothT 20:19, 13 January 2007 (UTC)

Learning about Wikipedia

Hi Tellyaddict thank you for all the help you have given me, I am ready to learn anything else you have to teach me about Wikipedia and using Wikipedia. Please let me know about anything else you have to teach me, thank you. I was just wondering if the wiki software was available for anyone to download and use for free if they wanted to, in order to create their own applications and things like that? --Avatar123 21:53, 13 January 2007 (UTC)

Howdy... Sure! I'd love to be adopted. What, exactly, would that require? I read and edit somewhat randomly. Sometimes I'm on here for hours, but other days I don't visit at all. 23:42, 13 January 2007 (UTC)

Meesages left on Escaper7's talk page

Thank you for your messages, "happy new year". Some people treat their contributions to Wikipedia, as a hobby. I use Wikipedia as a reader and where I find defficiencies/inaccuracies I correct or start articles. I prefer not to get into lengthy exchanges of messages - but to concentrate on articles. You made substantial edits, over writing corrections I'd made to the article about TWFRS, in spite of my 20 years expereince working for the emergency services, and now as a writer. Despite my efforts to advise you about the changes you made, and Wiki-policy on style etc, you continued to undermine several hours of my efforts. The above article is still full of typing mistakes and errors, so personally, I prefer to concentrate on editing articles rather than sending messages due to pressures on my time. I don't see Wikipedia as a 'social networking site' but as an encyclopaedia with high standards. Please do not add any more messages to my talk page. If you want to comment on an article, it's best done on its talk pages so that other editors can join the debate. I notice you say yourself on the talk pages of TWFRS that you think it's a "good article". It would probably be better to let others be the judge of that. Regards. Escaper7 12:57, 15 January 2007 (UTC)

Re:VP

Yeah, another one of the mods was editing the user approval list directly and messed up how the program processes the page history (only mods' edits are looked at by the program, so it has to process the history) so a rv is ineffective. User:AmiDaniel knows how to fix it, try adding your question to the VP help pages --frothT 22:05, 15 January 2007 (UTC)

Don't be so quick to blame me Froth, I was trying to fix it! (yes I was the mod who made the manual edits) At the time I manually edited the page, the userlist was already broken, possibly suggesting an interface change on Wikipedia. Either way, not by fault, and the method AmiDaniel used to fix the page last time (which I tried), does not work now. Prodego talk 22:21, 15 January 2007 (UTC)

Trivia and quotes

Please note that trivia and quotes do not belong in Wikipedia articles. Trivia doesn't belong because by definition, non-notable information does not belong in an encyclopedia. Quotes don't belong here, they belong in wikiquote. --Yamla 18:44, 17 January 2007 (UTC)

Change to Rhiannon page

Hi Tellyaddict, I believe you erroneously reverted my change: I simply moved the reference to the Mabinogion on the Rhiannon page to the Category Mabinogion and removed it from the "See Also" reference. This doeds not justify a block. Rhiannon is one of the first and most important characters of the Mabinogion and as such should be in the Mabinogion category...also for consistency with the other Mabinogion characters that are in this category. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 81.145.242.65 (talk) 20:35, 17 January 2007 (UTC).

I have added the template Template:importance to the article again as you seemed to have confused things somewhat. You removed the "The coaches themselves" section, as you though it was irrelevant information (Fair enough). Then you deleted the above template. But that template does not mean that the article contains irrelevant information, it means that the article doesn't state how important the article is (especially in the lead section of the article), after all it was NatEx's worst ever crash. I hope you understand what I am saying. Please see Wikipedia:Notability -- 86.17.254.7 21:57, 17 January 2007 (UTC)
