User_talk:ShohagS
Welcome to my talk page. I use the name ShohagS on Wikipedia, but you can call me "Shohag" simply because it's my birth name, though it's not my formal name, my friends call me "A B D". My real name is "Abdullah AL Mamun (Bengali: আব্দুল্লাহ আল মামুন)" but I love to merge it with my birth name which is "Abdullah AL Shohag". common.js protection
[edit]ShohagS, CaptainEek, I understand the request (common.js is JavaScript that is loaded by the browser), but that's why common.js is protected by default. I'm not sure exactly who can edit it, but I can't edit yours. And I know admins interface administrators can. — Alexis Jazz (talk or ping me) 10:57, 10 August 2020 (UTC)
- @Alexis Jazz: So I believe its protected for other non-admin users. Thanks for notifying me. A. Shohag (ping|Talk) 11:45, 10 August 2020 (UTC)
- My statement above actually wasn't entirely accurate, only interface administrators (which is a much smaller group than admins) can edit it. (and you) If I load http://en.wiki.x.io/w/index.php?title=User:ShohagS/common.js&action=edit, I see "This user script is protected so that only User:ShohagS and interface administrators can edit it.", you can test this yourself by looking at http://en.wiki.x.io/w/index.php?title=User:Alexis_Jazz/common.js&action=edit. — Alexis Jazz (talk or ping me) 15:26, 10 August 2020 (UTC)
- @Alexis Jazz:Alright then, find it true. I have question for you. We use link tag in html to load external css, is there anything that helps me to use my own custom external css? A. Shohag 15:37, 10 August 2020 (UTC)
- I'm not sure what you mean? User:ShohagS/common.css perhaps? (here's mine) — Alexis Jazz (talk or ping me) 16:51, 10 August 2020 (UTC)

Declined CSD
[edit]Hi - just a courtesy note to let you know that I declined your A7 CSD nomination at Himmata Ram Bhambhu - I think that winning that award would count as a credible claim of significance, which is a much lower bar than notability. If you think the subject is not notable, there is no prejudice against nominating the article at AfD. Cheers GirthSummit (blether) 11:32, 26 August 2020 (UTC)

Coordinates Christine Abrahams
[edit]Hi Shohag, I included coordinates on Christine Abrahams to give the location of the gallery that she ran which was named after her. There are redirects from Christine Abrahams Gallery and from Axiom Gallery which was the original name of the gallery in the same location. In trying to set up Christine Abrahams Gallery originally, I had resistance from editors who described it as 'advertising' (even though the gallery had closed), so I decided on starting a page on the director Christine Abrahams instead. I think the addition of coordinates is helpful to readers of the article, though maybe it should be placed in relation to the Gallery section; I've not seen that done however, have you? Best regards and thank you for your work here, Jamesmcardle(talk) 06:58, 30 August 2020 (UTC)
- @Jamesmcardle:Hi, having coordinates on an human page truly doesn't mean anything. Especially when you are trying to import coordinate to wikidata from Category:Coordinates not on Wikidata. And for your purpose, I think Its better not to add the coordinates. But If you want to do so, make in different way, maybe linking the google maps url or other. But not in the way you are using. And as you mentioned that the gallery have been closed, if so the location means nothing now. How can It be helpful to others? ~ A. Shohag (pingme||Talk) 07:14, 30 August 2020 (UTC)
- @Shohag:Hi Shohag, I've taken your advice and exchanged coords for a link to Googles maps, so thank you for your assistance. It's useful for historians of art to know the location of galleries as it is indicative of the demographic of its audience and of its relation to other galleries. Best regards, Jamesmcardle(talk) 07:25, 30 August 2020 (UTC)
- @Jamesmcardle: That looks better and doesn't affect the wikidata. Thanks. ~ A. Shohag (pingme||Talk) 07:45, 30 August 2020 (UTC)
Replaceable fair use File:Hafizuddin Ahmed - Bir Bikrom.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading File:Hafizuddin Ahmed - Bir Bikrom.jpg. I noticed that this file is being used under a claim of fair use. However, I think that the way it is being used fails the first non-free content criterion. This criterion states that files used under claims of fair use may have no free equivalent; in other words, if the file could be adequately covered by a freely-licensed file or by text alone, then it may not be used on Wikipedia. If you believe this file is not replaceable, please:
- Go to the file description page and add the text
{{Di-replaceable fair use disputed|<your reason>}}
below the original replaceable fair use template, replacing<your reason>
with a short explanation of why the file is not replaceable. - On the file discussion page, write a full explanation of why you believe the file is not replaceable.
Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media item by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by creating new media yourself (for example, by taking your own photograph of the subject).
If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these media fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per the non-free content policy. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Whpq (talk) 12:17, 1 September 2020 (UTC)
- @Whpq: Thank you for notifying me. I forgot to mention that the all images and texts from the series “তোমাদের এ ঋণ শোধ হবে না” published in The Daily Prothom Alo has an ticket released which is for that all that published under the series and texts are available to share under CC-BY-3.0. Please check the ticket and suggest me if I need to change something or update some information. ~ A. Shohag (pingme||Talk) 12:37, 1 September 2020 (UTC)
- I am not an OTRS agent so I have no way to view the ticket. Regardless, the uploaded image is being used as non-free content, and is not stating it is freely licensed. If it is indeed freely licensed, then you need to change the licensing to reflect that and add the OTRS ticket to the file summary. -- Whpq (talk) 12:43, 1 September 2020 (UTC)
- @Whpq:Alright then, But is there any license that includes ticket number? Probably I don't know any. And licensing under free license is not even a bad idea, but somehow It doesn't feel good to me. ~ A. Shohag (pingme||Talk) 12:52, 1 September 2020 (UTC)
- I really cannot help you. You need to contact somebody with OTRS access to assist you. Try Wikipedia:OTRS noticeboard. -- Whpq (talk) 13:14, 1 September 2020 (UTC)
- I have also restored the deletion tag. You may dispute the deletion as per the instructions on the deletion tag but do not remove the deletion tag itself. -- Whpq (talk) 13:18, 1 September 2020 (UTC)
- @Whpq: Does the {{Di-replaceable fair use disputed}} tag do the contesting work? ~ A. Shohag (pingme||Talk) 13:36, 1 September 2020 (UTC)
- An administrator will review the reason for dispute and determine if the reason is valid or whether the image should be deleted and take action accordingly. In looking at the reason you gave, it really makes no sense. Either an image not freely licensed in which case the non-free content criteria must be met, or the image is freely licensed and the appropriate license tag is applied and the non-free tagging removed. You've chosen to use the image as non-free content and challenging its deletion because is is freely licensed. That is contradictory. -- Whpq (talk) 20:02, 1 September 2020 (UTC)

@Whpq:It's true that It doesn't make any sense. But the source provided for the image is under copyright when It published first. But It released a permission with ticket number provided above that anything from that series can be published in wiki under cc-by-3.0. Right now, you might ask why didn't I uploaded it under cc-by-3.0? It's probably because I didn't knew that the person is not just alive also and respected politician. If you have a better sense that It should needed to be uploaded under cc-by, then let me know. ~ A. Shohag (pingme||Talk) 05:50, 3 September 2020 (UTC)
- This is my last post on this matter as you don't seem to want to take any action. You are claiming this is covered by an OTRS ticket. I am not an OTRS agent. I cannot help you. Get some help from OTRS. -- Whpq (talk) 11:31, 3 September 2020 (UTC)

Your question on RfA
[edit]Your question on RfA was rather rude. I suggest you tone down your aggressiveness in the question or just remove it altogether. It seems that you are accusing John for privacy violations rather than asking a polite question about what he’s going to do if he gains adminship. Social media off-wiki has nothing to do with adminship unless the admin harassed another user or does illegal activities off-wiki. John is not the person to do that, and numerous users have found your question disrespectful. Please reword it or remove it. Thanks. ~ Destroyeraa🌀 16:56, 24 October 2020 (UTC)
- @Destroyeraa: I didn't mean it rude. I just tried to aware him of being free if some contact them outside wiki but about wiki. [edit]Unlocked userpage?
[edit]not good while having 'unlocked userpage' tag, User:Alexis Jazz
The IP-edit looked like a test edit or random vandalism. I didn't know about the existence of {{unlocked userpage}}, but it's an invisible template. I could now deduce that when an IP-editor edits a user page, it must have that template but I won't check for every registered user how new they are, nor will I check for the presence of that template before reverting what appears to be a test edit or vandalism.
I have no obvious solution, but was the "Sk Ramis" edit actually desired? What does it mean? — Alexis Jazz (talk or ping me) 09:15, 20 April 2021 (UTC)
- @Alexis Jazz: Not actually. But I won't mind someone editing my userpage. Don't get me wrong. — A. Shohag (pingme or Talk) 10:55, 20 April 2021 (UTC)
- But my revert is also an edit, isn't it? If an edit to a userpage seems helpful at all, I am generally less likely to revert it and instead leave it to the user the page belongs to. As this appeared to be a test edit (at best), I reverted it. I'll try to remember not to revert any edits to your userpage, but I can't promise as there is no alert system for this kind of thing and I may eventually forget. {{unlocked userpage}} just affects the edit filter in question, it's not meant to notify other editors. — Alexis Jazz (talk or ping me) 12:24, 20 April 2021 (UTC)
- @Alexis Jazz: Glad you asked that. See this User:ShohagS/Editnotice. — A. Shohag (pingme or Talk) 07:16, 21 April 2021 (UTC)
- The edit notice isn't shown when reverting with Twinkle or mw-rollback. Even if it was, unless there is a more specific statement on the user page itself, you probably shouldn't be surprised if test edits and vandalism get reverted. That gives me an idea though.. — Alexis Jazz (talk or ping me) 07:26, 21 April 2021 (UTC)
- @Alexis Jazz: I never told that your were wrong. I said, I'd like some vandalism on my userpage. Please, don't create a debate here. — A. Shohag (pingme or Talk) 07:49, 21 April 2021 (UTC)
- I wasn't, I was just saying you shouldn't be surprised. I meant that literally, it's not surprising when that happens. I'm slightly confused now though, you said it was "not good" in your edit summary, but now you say you never said the revert was wrong. This would seem conflicting to me, but I could be confused. — Alexis Jazz (talk or ping me) 08:07, 21 April 2021 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of Henry Segerman
[edit]If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Henry Segerman requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a real person or group of people that does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. Mccapra (talk) 15:45, 18 July 2021 (UTC)
- @Mccapra: Do you know him? Did you even google his name? And I have been working? Why so hasty? Are you rude to people like this always? — A. Shohag (pingme or Talk) 15:48, 18 July 2021 (UTC)

However, the image is currently not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described in section F5 of the criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. --B-bot (talk) 17:26, 4 November 2021 (UTC)

[edit]Speedy deletion nomination of File:Muhammad Yunus Jaunpuri.jpeg
[edit]A tag has been placed on File:Muhammad Yunus Jaunpuri.jpeg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done for the following reason:
There are several images available of the subject. Hence the "fair use non-free rationale" doesn't fit here. Any of the available image of the subject (of course with correct copyright details) should be uploaded at Commons.
Under the criteria for speedy deletion, pages that meet certain criteria may be deleted at any time.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". Fails WP:NSCHOOL as it meets neither WP:GNG nor WP:ORG. The only sources are indiscriminate listings on the local government/school board websites. Searches in English and Bengali found no significant coverage in independent, reliable, secondary sources.
While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Worldbruce (talk) 05:13, 19 March 2023 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of RUET Career Forum
[edit]If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on RUET Career Forum, requesting that it be deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under two or more of the criteria for speedy deletion, by which pages can be deleted at any time, without discussion. If the page meets any of these strictly defined criteria, then it may soon be deleted by an administrator. The reasons it has been tagged are:
- It seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service, person, or point of view and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. (See section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion.) Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.
- It appears to be about a person, organization (band, club, company, etc.), individual animal, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. (See section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion.) Such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.
If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here.
