Hi Peg. How come this user vandalized like this: Original:

Sorting the universe, one article at a time.

to:

Sorting the small amount of information in my brain, one neuron at a time.

Did this user vandalize another time? Were you the blocking admin? (This edit is useless...I hope you never see it again.) MHLUtalk extra 03:42, 8 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free media (Image:ThinMannovel.png)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:ThinMannovel.png. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 05:12, 11 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Nature of stub sorters

[edit]

Mmm might be needed after that WP:OPERA ordeal and people like Kleinzach. I take it you regularly have trouble with people who protest that "you are trodding on their turf. How dare you edit OUR space" sort of thing. Perhaps you could include a paragraph related to WP:OWN and wikipedia as an overal encyclopedia in need of improvement by everybody Count Blofeld 21:36, 13 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Looks like a good idea to me, too - this essay should be linked from WP:WSS and WP:STUB. Hope you don't mind, but I've added an extra section - "Know when not to be bold." Edit/remove it if you wish. Grutness...wha? 22:27, 13 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Peg, can you ask me why I can't edit semi-protected pages? This seems to concern me...I am a logged user! This user is a college user. Can you please reply once you receive this? Thanks. MMHHLLUU | Discussion 20:53, 15 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Stub categories in userspace

[edit]

Hi Pegship -i seem to be fighting a one-person battle here. I could do with more opinions from senior stubbers, either for or against. Any chance you could take a look? Grutness...wha? 22:55, 27 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Film reels

[edit]

OK I've been a bald guy and searched for and uploaded some film reels which could probably replace our existing cartoon type icons. Take your pick from the following. I'll propose it to WP:Films so we can reach a consensus on which to use. Count Blofeld 10:05, 3 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Can't you remember the old "real" film icon we used to use? Count Blofeld 16:28, 3 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Must have a good memory then as I only joined in March 2006 and we had it at least up until early 2007. It was a bronze coloured reel on its side on a sort of blue looking desk.It wa sused on all the other wikis like German and Dutch wiki too. There was even a WP:Film discussion about the problem finding a replacement that looked credible and not too cartoon like. Count Blofeld 19:30, 3 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Asteroid stubs

[edit]

The scope I had in mind was that of Solar System#Outer Solar System, but also including the Trans-Neptunian objects (unless those are separately viable). In essence, everything beyond the main belt. My suggested name might not have been the best: I thought the articles said that Jupiter was often said to be in the "Mid Solar System", but I'm not sure where I got that from, and it doesn't seem to be the way the article appears currently. So perhaps better to use simply Category:Outer Solar System asteroid stubs, perhaps with separate upmerged templates for the Trojans, TNOs, etc.

This necessarily won't help with the "main belt" stubs, which would be even larger if the Category:Asteroid stubs were fully sorted. I think the best we've come up with is to split by number, at least for those articles lacking a spectral class, or anything else we could sensibly split on. Many of these articles seem to be almost content-free and essentially pointless, however. Ultimately, best might be to do a lot of merging... But that would be a whole shedload of work, and one I'm inclined to leave to the domain editors. Alai (talk) 19:54, 13 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Happy Holidays!

Seasonal greetings!
