The article Paora you nominated as a good article has passed ; see Talk:Paora for comments about the article, and Talk:Paora/GA1 for the nomination. Well done! If the article is eligible to appear in the "Did you know" section of the Main Page, you can nominate it within the next seven days. Message delivered by ChristieBot, on behalf of Jens Lallensack -- Jens Lallensack (talk) 10:44, 2 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Good work on getting this to GA. I have two updates for you:
  • You may have seen that it's now scheduled for homepage exposure as the lead hook (i.e. with the photo)
  • Ron Magill wanted to be kept informed when it's due to appear, so I've emailed him; I also took the opportunity to ask whether there's further reporting on the new enclosure that he wanted to share.
I'll let you know if anything arrives, or I'll deal with it myself. Schwede66 02:46, 25 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Nice thanks for keeping me posted. ―Panamitsu (talk) 05:01, 25 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

DYK for GeoNet (New Zealand)

[edit]

On 10 December 2024, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article GeoNet (New Zealand), which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that Aucklanders have a reputation for making false earthquake reports on New Zealand's earthquake monitoring website GeoNet? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/GeoNet (New Zealand). You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page (here's how, GeoNet (New Zealand)), and the hook may be added to the statistics page after its run on the Main Page has completed. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

I have sent you a note about a page you started

[edit]

Hi Panamitsu. Thank you for your work on Sludge content. Another editor, SunDawn, has reviewed it as part of new pages patrol and left the following comment:

Thank you for creating the article! Have a blessed day ahead.

To reply, leave a comment here and begin it with {{Re|SunDawn}}. (Message delivered via the Page Curation tool, on behalf of the reviewer.)

✠ SunDawn ✠ (contact) 04:03, 11 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

SunDawn I did not start this article. I created the page in 2023, then someone turned it into a redirect, then last month someone turned the redirect into a new article (none of text came from me). ―Panamitsu (talk) 04:10, 11 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Post nominal letters

[edit]

FYI: MOS:POSTNOM says "post-nominal letters may be included in the main body of the article, but not in the lead sentence of the article." This is a relatively recent change per Wikipedia talk:Manual of Style/Biography/2023 archive#Proposal: Moving post-nominals from lead sentences to article bodies, and I think it has been strengthened even more recently, so probably few editors are familiar with it.-Gadfium (talk) 04:35, 11 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Oh I had no idea. Thanks for telling me. ―Panamitsu (talk) 04:43, 11 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Notice

The article Fentanyl daycare incident has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Fails WP:EVENT. Not shown to have lasting significance beyond routine news coverage of the incident and the federal criminal complaint/sentencing of connected people.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Bridget (talk) 14:21, 11 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Wow there seems to be a proposed deletion of Panamitsu's 2023 Wikipedia article creations backlog drive. ―Panamitsu (talk) 21:16, 11 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Noticed this in passing given our recent exchange. Can you consider improving that article. I have minor CoI due to my employment in another jurisdiction so should not do so, but have removed the deletion notice and given hints for improvement direction and the specific reason which is outside my CoI in article talk. I note 2018 Amesbury poisonings is not slated for removal despite poisoning of civilians by nerve agents developed for military purposes being known since 1995. ChaseKiwi (talk) 22:47, 11 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I've added the sentencing in 2024 but haven't bothered adding anything else because of my lack of interest in the article. ―Panamitsu (talk) 23:11, 11 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Ok article might die, because I am only interested for reasons that raise CoI as I have specifically directed roles in my current jurisdiction for detecting, monitoring such deaths and warning health care professionals to be aware. ChaseKiwi (talk) 00:43, 12 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

American English?

[edit]

Why are you concerned about the purity of American English. We understand ourselves. Yours aye,  Buaidh  talk e-mail 19:34, 7 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Huh? I've been adding the tags so someone in the future can find non-US spellings and fix them. I've also done that with New Zealand English. ―Panamitsu (talk) 22:14, 7 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Because in the wiki search you can do something like 'HasTemplate:"Use American English" InSource:"programme"' and then you can correct the spelling errors. ―Panamitsu (talk) 22:22, 7 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Edit summaries

[edit]

While the templates you're adding are correct, the summaries state that you're adding the "use New Zealand English" template. It's a bit startling. Acroterion (talk) 04:01, 10 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Huh thanks for telling me.. I don't know how that happened! Fixed now. ―Panamitsu (talk) 04:02, 10 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I must've either misclicked without noticing or AutoWikiBrowser has a bug because 2 minutes after this edit with the summary "American English", this edit for some reason switched to "New Zealand English". Not sure why. Thanks again for telling me. ―Panamitsu (talk) 04:07, 10 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
No problem, I've sometimes had edit summaries do funny things if I'm not paying close attention. Acroterion (talk) 04:08, 10 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
If you're adding these templates to thousands of articles, I'd suggest making an AWB bot and getting it approved via WP:BRFA. It drastically reduces watchlist spam, and it saves you the hassle of clicking 'save' eleventy billion times. Headbomb {t · c · p · b} 00:03, 11 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I don't think my current method would get approved as a bot because the list sometimes has non-US articles in it so I have to watch the article titles and short descriptions. You could use negative categories in the Petscan search but there's always an exception. For example the other day I reverted my addition of the "Use American English" template to a sculpture that is in the US but was made by a British sculptor. Should that article use American or British English (ignoring MOS:RETAIN)? I think people would have a problem with that at WP:BRFA.
P.S. Eleventy is my new favourite word. Thanks for enlighting me. ―Panamitsu (talk) 00:16, 11 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Eleventy is considerably less than umpty though. Acroterion (talk) 00:53, 11 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I suppose umpty is a good name, although I prefer BIG FOOT and Sasquatch. ―Panamitsu (talk) 01:15, 11 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
