Fixing the Saint Kotar article
The article for Saint Kotar, the video game, is a mess right due to a user named QEntangle. They do not follow standard Wikipedia formatting at all. I'm not sure what to do with the page. Should I restore the previous revision?
- @Venky64: - Usually I would suggest fixing the formatting instead of removing the content he has added. The screenshots should be removed though. The major problems for that article, however, are unsourced content, use of unreliable sources, and use of non-neutral terms. Just a friendly reminder, you can sign your messages on talk pages with four tildes (~~~~). OceanHok (talk) 05:30, 22 June 2022 (UTC)
- Hello, allow me to chip in here. First of all, I did not create the page nor the formatting but added things, and if there is a problem with formatting, perhaps this could have, as OceanHok suggested, been fixed as opposed to scrap entries? Everybody goes through a learning curve here, and I'm one of those. It maybe a good idea to contact beginners and inform them of issues and point them in the right direction?
- OceanHok, just for information as unsourced content and use or unreliable sources, I'd appreciate some elaboration as I did a lot of research on everything I did put there. All the information was obtained from checking the game's Kickstarter page, the Developper's website, reviews are all sourced, etc etc if they are all deemed unreliable, I am at a total loss. Incidentally and just for info, the development history, especially with the Prologue, was an important part of the full game coming to fruition. Unsure as to the meaning of non-neutral terms but one learns every day so I trust you'll point me in the right direction here. Perhaps I was mistaken in believing that the point of of Wiki is to put as much information as possible, some will be of interest to some, others won't care but I think you get my point. Little did I know when I set out to contribute that it would end up being deemed a mess. Sorry but that's a really hard one to swallow. - @QEntangled: - Hi! All the content here in Wikipedia needs to be supported by reliable sources (RS). Here is a list of reliable sources for video game articles. Adventure Gamers, therefore, can be kept because it is listed as a RS, but "Hey Poor Player", which is pretty much an unknown reviewer, should be avoided. We tend to avoid primary sources (e.g. Kickstarter, FAQ from the developer's website, Steam, discord), or user-generated source (e.g. IMDB) unless there is no other viable alternative. The wordings we chose to use in articles should be as neutral as possible as we try to avoid words such as "eerie and dark -albeit beautiful- hand-painted world", or "an impressive base game patch/update"). I hope these information will help you! I do not mean to discourage you from editing. Keep on editing and you will gradually learn about the formatting. If you have any question or encounter any difficulty, feel free to ask me as well. OceanHok (talk) 12:45, 23 June 2022 (UTC)
- @OceanHok Hi and thank you for the reply and clarifications provided. Some of the reviews (such as the one you've referred to) as well as some other entries were made by another contributor, those I didn't touch and wouldn't do unless containing errors. I had no other choice but to, indeed, use primary sources on quite a bit of comprehensive and relevant information as there are no other alternative available presently. IMDB links were used since couldn't link to entries here which don't exist. The Kickstarter page provides a comprehensive history on development stages, hence the link to it. Idem with developers and the discord channel, the award and so on. As such I don't believe they all had to be discarded as they were. I get you on the neutral wording, duly noted. When it comes to the 'impressive' term pertaining to the update, was referring to the amount of added content (such as endings to only name this) but worded differently indeed will make a difference.
- You have indeed been of help and I thank you for that, as well as your approach which makes a whole lot of difference, a positive one. Therefore not being discouraged, far from it and thank you also for your offer of help should I need it, it is greatly appreciated. QEntangled (talk) 13:18, 23 June 2022 (UTC)
- Hi! I didn't anticipate at all that you would be reading this message, sorry for the wording I used above, calling the article "a mess." I didn't mean to discourage you at all with that one, I'm sure your contributions will improve greatly as you navigate your way around these rules over time. Thank you for your work! You declined this draft for content reasons (WP:GAMECRUFT). We want to improve articles to remove that stuff but this can be done once the article is accepted; It is not a reason to decline a submission. Reasons to decline are WP:CV, notability, WP:NOT, WP:BLP and severe WP:NPOV. ~Kvng (talk) 13:27, 24 June 2022 (UTC)
- @Kvng: - GAMECRUFT is exactly WP:NOT (WP:NOTGUIDE). There is essentially no meaningful content left when all gamecruft content is removed. The article is obviously not ready for mainspace, and it should stay in it until someone actually writes the content we need. OceanHok (talk) 17:48, 24 June 2022 (UTC)
- That's a content quality issue. It can be (and has been) fixed simply by deleting the offending section. You can do that as a reviewer or let another editor do it once in it is in mainspace. The root acceptance criteria is, would this be deleted at AfD? If not, it's, with a couple of exceptions, acceptable.
- If you decline stuff like this the author may not have the know-how or inclination to fix it. We have many other editors ready to take on these improvements but they generally don't work on articles in draft space. Let's get stuff like this to mainspace. Keep it on your watchlist and see the magic of collaborative editing get articles to the level of quality we're looking for. ~Kvng (talk) 18:30, 24 June 2022 (UTC)
- I understand your logic but that seems a bit idealistic, since the majority of our articles are extremely short stubs. Anyway, maybe I will try to be a little bit more leninent next time when I review articles. Miracles do sometimes happen. OceanHok (talk) 16:38, 25 June 2022 (UTC)
- Like I said, give it a try and leave the accepted article on your watch list and see what happens over a couple years. If that takes to much patience, pick a favorite article and review its deep history to see how it started. Most every article on Wikipedia started out as either a stub or a steaming pile of shit. ~Kvng (talk) 14:59, 28 June 2022 (UTC)

Video Game DLC Reception
Hi,
I want to include reception for expansions such as the recent releases Cuphead: The Delicious Last Course, Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak, and Outriders Worldslayer. How should I include them? Can I include them in the main reception section as well, under a separate subheader with the subtitle of the expansion name? Venky64 (talk) 21:16, 2 July 2022 (UTC)
- @Venky64: - Sure. A subsection in the reception part would be sufficient. OceanHok (talk) 05:23, 3 July 2022 (UTC)
- Where exactly should I place it? For example, Cuphead's reception section contains the Reception, Sales, and Awards sections. Should I place it below Awards or immediately under the Reception section? Venky64 (talk) 15:38, 4 July 2022 (UTC)
- I think it should be placed just below the reception section. I think you can have a look at Batman: Arkham Knight#Additional content, which I think is a great example of how to handle the reception of DLC. I don't think it should be this long though, because they are additional content and therefore, that part should not be longer than the reception of the main game. Regarding Box Art vs Store Art
Hi there @OceanHok. Just wanted to start a discussion regarding an edit of mine that you reverted on Bayonetta 3.
As far as I am aware and if my understanding of WP:VGBOX is correct, the box/cover art is always preferred to eshop art. That said, it appears that most Switch games appear to use the eshop art. Not sure if you have a better understanding of this than I do?
Thanks! 18:57, 11 August 2022 (UTC) Skipple (talk) 18:57, 11 August 2022 (UTC)
- @Skipple: - Hi! I swear we had a discussion somewhere about this but I cannot find it right now. To be honest the art from eshop and the retail cover art is essentially the same, but the eshop one has no logos, making it easier for primary product identifiation. Italics for noun adjuncts & removed content at Return to Monkey Island
Hello @OceanHok, thanks for your recent edits at Return to Monkey Island! I'm not very familiar with video games articles and, despite having read the manual of style, I would like to ask you for some clarification:
- Should italic be applied every time the name of a franchise is used as a noun adjunct? There are still several "Monkey Island game" or "Monkey Island universe" in the article and I wanted to be sure that they need to be italicized as well.
- In removing a text about a trailer, you also removed a statement about the official website hosting an simple interactive game. Since at least one source (Polygon) has found this topic notable enough to report it, I wanted to ask if this information was removed because inappropriate or if it can be mentioned in the article (or even associated to a website screenshot that shows the game).
Thank you! ► LowLevel73 (talk) 13:34, 28 August 2022 (UTC)
- @LowLevel73: - Hi! Italic should be applied every time the name of the franchise is mentioned. For the interactive game, I think you can briefly mention it in the release/marketing section. I don't think a screenshot would be necessary though. OceanHok (talk) 14:21, 28 August 2022 (UTC)

Dear Sir, Many thanks for your valued feedback on the Draft for candidate Chun Wah Kong. If these references can be presented; the subject’s history, contributions and achievements in his field of work as presented would meet your requirement? Atomic heart genre
can you show me any proofs that genre box must contain only the primary genres of the games ??. I showed you specifically Mundfish's info stating its an adventure action rpg,not FPS but clearly stated its an action rpg . You dont pay attention just because its not so much of an evidence based on quantity as per not many aryicles claiming it?. What about its reliability ? MrDante1047 (talk) 23:30, 10 March 2023 (UTC)
Atomic heart genre edit
Besided if yoy want ti compare it to bioshock, bioshock relies on clgun combat. Its basically a shooting game with some rog elements. Atpmic heart isnt. Gun combat isnt its main part it relies on uaing different swinging weapkns as well and doesnt bound player tp the gun combat. My sources proved it to be an action rpg. Its what is weitten in the russian version of the argicles as well. MrDante1047 (talk) 10:51, 11 March 2023 (UTC)
